What a complex ball of complex Blue A is! This is reaching a crisis point a whole lot quicker than I thought it would.
Centcomm 16th Aug 2012, 11:30 PM edit delete reply

He's jealous that they can do things he can't, so he takes it out on them.

velvetsanity 15th May 2017, 7:51 AM edit delete reply

Have to have something to do when I can't set up the laptop and explore in Conan Exiles :D
cattservant 16th Aug 2012, 11:42 PM edit delete reply

Not to mention, in a society created and run by high level AIs, there must be mechanisms in place to regulate inter-species interaction disputes that rise above a certain threshold.
And that that threshold could well be getting lower at this time of intercity tensions!
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 12:00 AM edit delete reply

sorry I have to plead the 5th .. Rose will kick me if I dont, but one thing I can say is most of the time the Andriod winds up on the losing side of a argument with little recorse, other than "requesting" a new job they may or may not get..
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 12:05 AM edit delete reply

As long as you plead it but don't drain it!
Besides, Ms. Rose is probably tired this time of night.

From what I've seen of CentComm's personality so far, I'd say she considers adversity to be an educational opportunity .
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 1:12 AM edit delete reply

Maaaaybe :D
Fairportfan 17th Aug 2012, 12:22 AM edit delete reply

"Duke", huh?

How about "Rooster?

"Now, pilgrim, I don't think ya ought'a be talkin' like that to the little lady here..."
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 12:25 AM edit delete reply

Now that's rather apropos!
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 1:12 AM edit delete reply

oh I think it may be quite relevent :D
plymayer 17th Aug 2012, 12:28 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 1:11 AM edit delete reply

plymayer 17th Aug 2012, 2:23 AM edit delete reply

I'm lucky. I have a great one at the moment. But over the years....
Rashala 17th Aug 2012, 1:26 AM edit delete reply

Meh She's probally gonna be hired by teh driver as his mechanic/companion and that will shut that fat git up :)

cause I senses a Know what you Bigoted Asshole... I QUIT!! *coming from her real soon :)
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 1:45 AM edit delete reply

I think things might come to the same point by a somewhat different angle of attack.
Fairportfan 17th Aug 2012, 2:19 AM edit delete reply

The point of his nose, the point of his jaw or the center-point of his gut, i think.
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 7:53 AM edit delete reply

right now she would love to slap his face off however theres this not so little voice in her head reminding her exactly what "legal" codes she would be violating for physical violence, shes trying to stand up for herself as best she can
Fairportfan 18th Aug 2012, 2:25 AM edit delete reply

I was thinking more of Duke applying instructional violence than of the little lady doing so.
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 7:57 AM edit delete reply

well .. in order to "change" jobs she would A) have to find someone to sponsor her "contract" and make a payment toward her "body and training debt" otherwise she cant really quit, and deriliction of duty ( ie playing hooky, ) after so many days would get NTPD intervention, in favor of the job , not her.
Tokyo Rose 18th Aug 2012, 3:44 AM edit delete reply

I'm half surprised no one has sprung the phrase "indentured servitude" yet.
cattservant 18th Aug 2012, 3:52 AM edit delete reply

A situation so ubiquitous that no one is supposed to notice it...
Fairportfan 19th Aug 2012, 12:34 AM edit delete reply

I was explaining the current story thread to my wife yesterday, and i did use exactly that term.

Actually, so long as the laws governing it are good, and are rigourously enforced, indentured servitude can be a not-bad way to pay for things you can't afford any other way.

In fact, we have something very like it in the US, right now - the government pays for your medical school, and in return, your first five years in practice they send you to rural areas that don't have/can't afford doctors.
Centcomm 19th Aug 2012, 12:40 AM edit delete reply

Thats actually very close - except you can kinda stand up for yourself and they cant take your body away because you cant afford it >_<

** edit im also flattered you were talking to your wife about the story GO YOU! :D
CyberSkull 17th Aug 2012, 3:17 AM edit delete reply

Do they have a "Field of Honor" there?
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 7:49 AM edit delete reply

NO anything like that would involve "Adjudicators" bascily laywers and considering her "income" is around 6 credits a hour ( while his is around 40 credits per hour ) and there is no "free laywers" most humans would rather the Andriods have no rights the same as bots and other machines. the fight for "equal rights" has been going on for years , its only during Dollys lifetime that they even considered giving them equal rights
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 7:51 AM edit delete reply

and before its said - There is a goverment in New Troy besides Centcomm - thats comprised of a council of 6 men and women ( all human currently ) and a army of buracrats laywers and other functionarys , these people will come into play later..
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2013, 10:49 AM edit delete reply

Would kind of be unfair, as androids are normally stronger and faster than a human. Of course, unless they were in combat that might just mean they missed more quickly in a gun fight. :-D
Rashala 17th Aug 2012, 3:50 AM edit delete reply

Also.....No offense intended but she is an Android....wouldn't it be the AR not HR department she would need to go to?
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 4:07 AM edit delete reply

Ahh, a noble literalist!
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 7:45 AM edit delete reply

well Technicly she could file a complant with the "agency" that placed her here - however they rarely do anything unless physical harm is being done and they dont count Mental harm.
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 7:54 AM edit delete reply

ah yes the "Agency" also known as the "Andriod placement and Relations Centers" a very overworked and underpaid angency..
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 1:16 PM edit delete reply

Keep it up long enough and then it's hide the screwdrivers time!
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 1:19 PM edit delete reply

Yes .. even Andriods have Limits XD
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 1:25 PM edit delete reply

How about Artists? Are you getting a surfeit of proper rest? Please...
mushroomisland 17th Aug 2012, 1:56 PM edit delete reply

"before I -" ...I have a feeling he wont
t be able to finish that sentence. And he's just plain mean D:<
KarToon12 17th Aug 2012, 4:54 PM edit delete reply

What a jerk off. >:(
Rashala 17th Aug 2012, 5:17 PM edit delete reply

Screwdrivers? Seriously? Come on SHe'd have access ot a LOT of other tools to choose from. Personally I would say pushed too far....and out comes the plasma Cutter and Blue A-hat becomes the first new member of the New Troy Eunich Society.

Oh and for the Official record Centcomm :) I am of the opinion that if a being can feel pain, feel happyness sorrow; basically emotions and has intelligence then it has the right to the same basic rights as humans. *looks for the Android Rights party to sign up*
Centcomm 17th Aug 2012, 5:36 PM edit delete reply

"Cent-Comm Actual: At this time I can nither confirm nor deny that Andriods require the same basic rights as any sentient being. It is humans that created the framework I use and every sentient being in New Troy , untill humans change the rules I have to use whats given me.. End of line.
Rashala 17th Aug 2012, 6:06 PM edit delete reply

Know that Centcomm :) Just letting you know where this human stands.
Centcomm 18th Aug 2012, 1:11 AM edit delete reply

not a problem just giving her the chance to vent her opinion on the subject "D alls good Rashala :D
cattservant 17th Aug 2012, 8:49 PM edit delete reply

I think the AIs have a lot longer time-frame than the Protoplasmists ever will, so They are just taking their time to decide how they feel about things.
Centcomm 18th Aug 2012, 1:12 AM edit delete reply

very astute :D
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2013, 10:52 AM edit delete reply

Not only that Cat, but they are probably trying to ensure that they minimize the backlash. If they push too quickly, too forcefully they might get even more of human society against them. Right now, sounds like only a small percentage (in New Troy) is ardently against androids; however, that would likely change if they pushed things.
cattservant 8th Oct 2013, 1:39 PM edit delete reply

And it's better than Nova Roma by several magnitudes!
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2013, 1:59 PM edit delete reply

Too true. There they are just things and if they get uppity they are disposed of I think. :-p
antrik 6th Oct 2016, 10:42 PM edit delete reply
Not flirting? Liar :-)
velvetsanity 13th May 2017, 6:18 PM edit delete reply

Not *intentionally*flirting...which makes it very likely she doesn't realize that's what she was doing
Some Ed 1st Jun 2017, 8:50 PM edit delete reply
I'd hope that the indentured servitude agency charges a base rate for their service, which the employer can't arbitrarily dock like he's doing with her pay. Otherwise, what he's doing could be used as a way to keep a servant forever...
