Centcomm 28th Apr 2013, 10:32 PM edit delete reply

I think Dolly and Ceci took that title away from them >_<
Don B. 28th Apr 2013, 10:43 PM edit delete reply
That they did...talk about outnumbered and outclassed.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 9:20 AM edit delete reply

yup - I think the odds shifted during the fight ^_^
Antonious 29th Apr 2013, 6:49 PM edit delete reply
Not really during. More accurately, they shifted the moment the fight started, from a perceived advantage on the gutter's side to a demonstrated vulnerability.

CeCi has a CombatClippy™ installed?

I feel so bad for her.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 9:21 AM edit delete reply

I might just steal that name "CombatClippy" giggles :D
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 10:01 AM edit delete reply

Oh dear, that makes me think how it's interface would operate ?
Maybe some combat related way ?
Hmmm...

Please punch here to close your personal CombatClippy™.
*thud*
Bandit : Ow, what the heck didja punch me for ?
invalid face punched, please punch again.
*thud*
Bandit : Ow, what the heck ?
Face should be punched on the nose, not on the side of the jaw.
*thud*
Bandit : Ahh, you broke my nose!
Please double tap to acknowledge order.
*thud*
*thud*
Thank you for using your personal assistant, the CombatClippy™, please consider using it again soon.
Ceci : *Sigh* At last.
Bandit : Lady, you seriously need help.
Did I hear the word "help" ? CombatClippy™ can help you in so many ways, please punch a face for the menu.

cracked up.. so hard MUHAHAHHA!! :D
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 10:09 AM edit delete reply

I suspect the programmers of CombatClippy may have a slightly sadistic streak to them. :D
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:11 AM edit delete reply

I think so too :D
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 10:16 AM edit delete reply

I think.....we may have explained Why Tedee is so violent and angry.....

this could be HER os
Sheela 30th Apr 2013, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

LOL ... I had forgotten about Teedee's temper there for a moment, and now I'm thinking about, you might be right! :D

However, I suspect that Teedee would find a way to actually physically punch CombatClippy itself instead of random bandits, just to get rid of it for good. She might have to get creative to do it, but she'd get it done, I'm sure. :D
Speedy 9th Nov 2016, 12:28 PM edit delete reply
CombatClippy sounds like the name of a smart ammo clip.

"You have 5 rounds remaining. Please conserve ammo, as I am your last clip."

You handled this fight scene quite well, I must say.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 9:21 AM edit delete reply

:D

Maybe CeCi is about to have a new nickname ?

On a completely unrelated sidenote though, listening to the opening guitar riffs of that song made me think - Howcreative is the ordinary android ? I'm sure they could replicate it, but could they come up with riffs like that on their own, or even have any incentive to even try ?
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:07 AM edit delete reply

that is one weak point in andriod mentallity .. they are actually rather low on the arts and crafts side. they can be very creative. but tend to more practical pursuits, more than likely the lack of creaativity is a social thing rather than a limitation.
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 10:10 AM edit delete reply

Ah, that's interesting.

Often you have the "androids are better at math, but humans are better at creative stuff" balance going on for androids in most stories.

I was just wondering if that held true here as well.
Don B. 29th Apr 2013, 2:50 PM edit delete reply
I am getting the impression that creativity and the like are more likely to occur in androids that have been online for a long time. Centcomm was surprised with Dolly's compassionate response to Calliope's distress just before the upgrade. Also Dolly has been a part of the family for fifty odd years which might have something to do with it. Might be that at some point programming becomes more like emotional instinct past a certain point. The upgrade may also have a profound effect that is completely unanticipated. All this could be the exception to the rule but you do have to start somewhere. At the very least, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. I do like how some of the androids seem to be more human than quite a few humans we've seen to date.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 4:02 PM edit delete reply

Doctor silver anyone.. or thinking of someone else?
Don B. 30th Apr 2013, 12:57 AM edit delete reply
Actually Centcomm, I was thinking of some of the more despicable humans we've seen. Gutters, Dec, Minx's tormentor, that idiot dock supervisor. As for Dr. Silver, I can't make up my mind as to whether she is an eccentric human or a very, very quirky android. I rather like her. I'd like to see her interact with Tokyo Rose. Seems to me they'd either be the best of friends or hate each other. Oh, the possibilities.
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 4:16 PM edit delete reply

That could explain why Cent-Comm essentially apprenticed CeCi to Dolly.
Antonious 29th Apr 2013, 6:58 PM edit delete reply
Change Betty to Angel and that becomes Ceci's perfect anthem.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 8:30 PM edit delete reply

I like that idea :D
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

Whoa, Black Angel (Bam-a-Lam) ?
Kanela 29th Apr 2013, 2:25 AM edit delete reply

just AWESOME. :D
nice effect!!
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 9:50 AM edit delete reply

Well, the hard work is paying dividents, I assure you. :)
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:07 AM edit delete reply

YAY!
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 10:12 AM edit delete reply

I'd like to take a moment to thank rose as well - I'm sure hard work goes on there as well, we just don't see it much as it's less obvious.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:18 AM edit delete reply

Rose is the one responceable for cleaning up my horrid dialouge and keeping all the charcters true to form in the script she also does a lot of the effects and all the word balloons often times she will take as long as I do on the script :D so yeah you dont see "her" that often but shes the one doing the words :D

CentComm, I follow close to 100 comics and will say that Datachasers makes me think about what's going on in a way that very, very few do. Between the two of you, you have created a coherent, well thought out fictional work that few can match. I'm 45 and have read a LOT of comics in that time, which while entertaining, couldn't hope to match what you create. Wow, fanboy much Don? Oh well, truth is truth and I thank you and Rose again for sharing.

Awww Mommy doing what Mommies do best, protecting her daughter. Great page.
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 9:25 AM edit delete reply

thankys DR. and well Dolly IS very protective .. not that Ceci needs it as much ..
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 10:22 AM edit delete reply

So: Android psychology question; How does CeCi feel about Dolly redirecting her next target?
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:23 AM edit delete reply

hehe - proably surprise - guess we will find out next page.. If it had been Teedee sparks would have flown :D Ceci is a bit more easy going about that..
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 11:16 AM edit delete reply

As long as Dolly don't forget the golden rule :
Do NOT judo-throw the child approaching at speed.
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 11:53 AM edit delete reply

On the subject of maternal intentions.
One could imagine that after CeCi has had plenty of time to differentiate, Cent-Comm would upgrade her to 2.0.
Sheela 29th Apr 2013, 9:40 PM edit delete reply

Well ... she's only something like 8 days old, so far, right ?
She's still forming base personality, and the mission only have a limited duration, so she'll probably end up facing CentComm before she's "ready". But then, she's an android that's buildt for highstress environment, so that might be an advantage.
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 10:40 PM edit delete reply

I think Cent-Comm has assigned CeCi to Dolly on at least a semi-permanent basis.
It's been pretty well established that Cent-Comm always has several reasons for every thing she does.
So it wouldn't surprise me if she had more in mind than just protecting uniquely valuable Dolly 2.0.
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 10:13 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:19 AM edit delete reply

panel 3 seems to be a lot of peoples favoorites ,. wonder if a larger version of that panel would be of intrest as a Incentive :D
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 10:25 AM edit delete reply

[Impertinent question; Did you deliberately not deploy CeCi's SLTs?]
Centcomm 29th Apr 2013, 10:26 AM edit delete reply

HAHHA ... *winks* maybe another time :D
cattservant 29th Apr 2013, 10:50 AM edit delete reply

Semi-seriously though, CeCi seems to be solving an equation. Dolly on the other hand, might be having some emotional involvement in the excitement.*

Ah well, the difference between Ceci and TeeDee, next Ceci will say thanks Mommy are you all right and did I do the right thing? TeeDee would holler, "Set'em up in the next alley, and this time gimme something that's not a pushover.
Don B. 29th Apr 2013, 3:37 PM edit delete reply

RE: Vote incentive; Dr. Silver's Drones, I'm surprised that her ego didn't lead her to finish them in silver plate.
High reflectivity has anti-laser properties too.
velvetsanity 30th Apr 2013, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

The problem with that being that a laser, when hitting a reflective surface, bounces off at the same angle it hit at and hits something else. A sniper using a laser rifle would bounce the laser off one of the drones to leave some confusion as to the point of origin.
cattservant 30th Apr 2013, 1:33 PM edit delete reply

You have an agile mind!
Rashala 30th Apr 2013, 3:29 PM edit delete reply

Also remember she has one MASSIVE inferiority complex from Lynn's mother...and her Ego is such ....that she would probally see Silver as second place as if silver Olympic medals therefore If she DId chrome her drones....or anything else .. *IE earrings, rings...uh...personal back massagers. She'd have them in gold.
Marcus Ramesy 30th Apr 2013, 4:05 PM edit delete reply

accualy.. Silver is a very very practical person.. anything shiny would make them stand out.. and their function is not to stand out but to unobtrusive .. Ive been with those drones in combat and they are very very useful.. so regardless of her personal preferences in things.. she isnt going to "bling out" military hardware
cattservant 30th Apr 2013, 4:40 PM edit delete reply

Function optimized then. Fair enough!
Marcus Ramesy 30th Apr 2013, 6:28 PM edit delete reply

yup.. its a mater of function and form need to form the proper synergy... a combat android need not look plane and dull.. they can look good while kicking ass and still maitain function... never underestimate the "coolness" factor
cattservant 30th Apr 2013, 7:35 PM edit delete reply

They could have on board holographic projectors and look like flaming skulls!
