Interesting; however, I've gotten to really like the style that you do things in CentComm. So don't feel like you need to change it! :-)
Centcomm 14th Jul 2013, 2:32 PM edit delete reply

Oh the style datachasers is done in and Luna Star wont change .. this is a possable side project.. again its a test.
Sheela 14th Jul 2013, 4:41 PM edit delete reply

Well, it is a pretty interesting look, and I think it looks nifty. :)

It reminds me of some artist from way back, but I can't remember his name, dammit.
Draginbeard 14th Jul 2013, 3:04 PM edit delete reply

It has just a hint of Tim Bradstreet styling to it. I will keep an eye out if you decide to go ahead with it.
cattservant 14th Jul 2013, 3:16 PM edit delete reply

From a non-expert opinion; It amplifies the emotional level/content of the characters.
I could easily read/enjoy a story in this style. Something like historical vignettes of the back story to Data Chasers' present story lines. (perhaps)

Nice one and I like the coloring also - it is great - though I would prefer the current one
Centcomm 14th Jul 2013, 6:06 PM edit delete reply

general responce.. Nither Datachasers nor Luna Star will be changing artstyles.. any time soon. this is for a unrelated project.. but wanted to get a opinion on what people thought of the "hybrid" CGI / art look..

Sheela 14th Jul 2013, 6:26 PM edit delete reply

It's nice, I like it. I bet it would work great in a dark / nitty-gritty sort of setting.

Maybe not Sin City sort of nitty-gritty, but more, general-detective-nitty-gritty levels ... sort of the environments that The Spirit by Will Eisner would run around in. :D
velvetsanity 14th Jul 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Like, say, cyberpunk gritty?
velvetsanity 14th Jul 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

I like it
ranger_brianna_new 14th Jul 2013, 7:04 PM edit delete reply

It does look really, really cool.

As others have said, it would be a bit jarring if your current comics switched to it, so it's good that you're not, but I think it can work dang-well as a style for a new comic, and this test-run is what I'd call a total success. :)

Woe! I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. Wait, I don't think we were in Kansas before either.

I love it. The effect is very natural looking.

Has a very cell shade but still black and white drawing look to it. I dig it. It reminds me of one of the artists that used to do a lot of stuff for Heavy Metal, trying to remember who.

This is really cool. I can almost hear Galina recounting this dark part of her story, while the camera slowly zooms in to, or pans across each panel. I don't know what they call it, but it's like a pseudo-animation thing.

I was like, "They stylized the photos, but they still look so much like the real life actors... Wait a sec..."
Tokyo Rose 15th Nov 2016, 6:56 PM edit delete reply

I catch myself doing that with some of our guest artists, too. "Hey, that looks a lot like the real one!--wait"
HalcyonSon 5th Jan 2018, 4:44 PM edit delete reply
Just for posterity, it's called "rotoscoping." Probably best known from "A Scanner Darkly."
