Tricia might do well to "Check Six" after she leaves lunch with Mr. Alias Smith & Jones
Centcomm 23rd Jul 2013, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

proably a fine idea ..
cattservant 23rd Jul 2013, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

Oh Noes! The thick black squiggle of somebody's impending doom!
Centcomm 23rd Jul 2013, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

YUP
Sheela 25th Jul 2013, 4:12 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, next thing you know, she's gonna be all like .. whatevah (while cursing him inwardly) .. and he'll be all confused - "What's up with her now ? - Women!"
highlander55 23rd Jul 2013, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Oh shit! Now comes the jealous green monster about to rise from Connie and smite him down. But he will not change over night.
cattservant 23rd Jul 2013, 9:21 PM edit delete reply

Or, perhaps the Perilous Purple Monster!
Centcomm 23rd Jul 2013, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

hey no one said androids were above it :D
cattservant 23rd Jul 2013, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

I suspect they are quite laterally entrenched.
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

I guess that (partially) answers THAT question.

Yes, he does have lasses that keep him comfortable. And Connie doesn't deal with competition too well.

Her confidence probably isn't the greatest after all that time with the d!ckwad boss. :-p
Centcomm 23rd Jul 2013, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

no her confidence has been in the crapper a long time..
cattservant 23rd Jul 2013, 9:40 PM edit delete reply

She couldn't have deliberately picked a better place and mentor to start improving it!
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 9:43 PM edit delete reply

I wonder if androids have a little bit of trouble with confidence (at your service, indeed).
Dragonrider 23rd Jul 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

BTW I just looked closely at the unit insignia on Trish's helmet. Those half runes flanking the Cobra could merge and create a swastika. Food for thought about the political climate in some of the free territories?
Centcomm 23rd Jul 2013, 9:28 PM edit delete reply

hehe we already have one insane lunatic running a city state.. do we really need two?
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

A tick from Luna? That is a scary thought. :-)
Dragonrider 24th Jul 2013, 4:08 PM edit delete reply

In a future like you created, Anarchy is King,Queen, Emperor and Empress there's no limit to the number of nutters running their own little Kingdom. Also as is the Runes look a great deal like the old SS collar flashes
highlander55 23rd Jul 2013, 10:05 PM edit delete reply

@ Dragonrider.. Did you also notice the eye patch too?

(Is your avatar about the Dragon Riders of Pern Series?)
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 10:29 PM edit delete reply

Looks more like Dragon Lance to me. I think I've seen that picture before, somewhere. It is kind of small to be sure, Elmore?
highlander55 23rd Jul 2013, 10:37 PM edit delete reply

Def not Pern riders. They don't use swords but the dragons eat minerals and spew flames to torch Thread! Or until they were able to move the red planet (old space ship) from traveling past Pern.
Tokyo Rose 23rd Jul 2013, 11:31 PM edit delete reply

Only if you're really TRYING to make them look like a swastika*. And no, Ahta is not run by Future Space Nazis or anything like that.

(*Closer to the SS double-lightning-bolt insignia, really. Still not run by Future Space Nazis.)
mjkj 24th Jul 2013, 3:22 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, I was about to point that out :)

more like the SS insignia with a space in-between filled with a star and a snake.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2013, 2:37 PM edit delete reply

looks at this.. wut.. SS? >_< it could also be "sky snakes" Sky Serpents.. or any number of things..
Dragonrider 24th Jul 2013, 4:23 PM edit delete reply

I pointed that out in my reply to cent's reply to me. Then I read your post here.
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 9:39 PM edit delete reply

I feel sorry for Connie in that last panel. You can see her disappointment. She looks like she wants to cry.

She was so close to getting things worked out (she thought at least) with Mr. Black... and now someone else (that he apparently has some kind of relationship with) has stolen him away. I feel bad for her.
Tokyo Rose 23rd Jul 2013, 11:33 PM edit delete reply

We were aiming for "humorous pout", not heartbroken despair. Who cares if he's got a slut in every port-of-call? Connie's going to go EVERYWHERE with him. :D
Stormwind13 24th Jul 2013, 8:11 AM edit delete reply

Cruel humor against someone that has been as mistreated as Connie was. You have a point on how she SHOULD look at the situation Rose, but I can't see her getting there from where she started from (after d!ckwad mistreated her daily for 6 months).
HIghlander55 24th Jul 2013, 5:37 PM edit delete reply
Especially the Clinic.
Guest 23rd Jul 2013, 10:03 PM edit delete reply
Well before he goes she could have him look at something not working right in her quarters. That when her door closes with her and guy in it her clothes fall off, or something.
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 10:09 PM edit delete reply

I doubt she would be that forward, especially now. I think her confidence in her attractiveness just took a major hit.
Tokyo Rose 23rd Jul 2013, 11:33 PM edit delete reply

"when her door closes with her and guy in it her clothes fall off, or something."

*dies laughing*
Guest 23rd Jul 2013, 10:12 PM edit delete reply
In truth I think he knows. I also think he'll take her along for insurance that he doesn't get tangled up. He seems to pick up on the little things very well.
highlander55 23rd Jul 2013, 10:17 PM edit delete reply

I agree with Guest. They are partners and taking her along is one way of letting contacts know he is serious that she will be with him from now on.
Stormwind13 23rd Jul 2013, 10:25 PM edit delete reply

I hope you are right, Guest. I'm wondering though if she is going to bail. I get the feeling she might excuse herself very quickly and go off to be miserable.
Rfaramir 24th Jul 2013, 12:34 PM edit delete reply
If she bails, she would be abandoning the claim on him that bringing her along would be offering her. By bringing her along, he would be saying to Tricia that he is all business (now) since Connie has dibs on him. Glad to make deals, talk business or innocent pleasure over friendly coffee, but nothing more.
I hope she doesn't bail!
Stormwind13 24th Jul 2013, 3:11 PM edit delete reply

Well while I think that would be ideal, I haven't seen him even make any such offer to Connie. Or indicate that he is even contemplating it.

Like Cat indicated (below), he might need her to manage the ship. Since everyone else is likely hiding out. I mean, if Nova Roma is running around they don't want to be seen by anyone that might sell that information to Douche-bag's forces.

And Mr. Black might get more information if he shows up solo. Bringing an unknown to the party might make people too wary to share. Mr. Black needs/wants information so leaving Connie might be the best thing from that perspective.
cattservant 23rd Jul 2013, 10:24 PM edit delete reply

Could be, but somebody needs to stay on watch and I imagine the 'passengers' will be keeping a very low profile!
highlander55 23rd Jul 2013, 10:39 PM edit delete reply

Connie has no debt to him so she is not really dependent but is attracted. Hell has no fury like a woman about to kick some rivals ass.
Antonious 24th Jul 2013, 6:19 PM edit delete reply

I imagine Beast is more than capable of keeping watch on its self and passengers (covert or otherwise).
cattservant 23rd Jul 2013, 10:29 PM edit delete reply

An interesting divergence of opinion!

Centcomm 24th Jul 2013, 2:35 PM edit delete reply

i noticed that.. whats up with you..
Rashala 24th Jul 2013, 4:36 PM edit delete reply

Nooothing *shifty eye look*

REally nothing :) just all the good comments were already takes sooooo
mjkj 24th Jul 2013, 3:26 AM edit delete reply

*comforts Connie*

Well, that is one flirting going on just after Connie all but confessed to him.

I think the next page will be quite interesting when he tries to mend things (or it might switch to some of the others...)
ge2org 24th Jul 2013, 4:28 AM edit delete reply

is he going to stop for coffee or continue with the mission??

(im a little worried about connie, how well do android limiters work??)
Stormwind13 24th Jul 2013, 7:37 AM edit delete reply

I haven't seen anything from Connie to make me think she WOULD turn violent. She might get upset, but I can't see her going to the violent end of responses. Just doesn't feel like Connie's personality.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2013, 2:35 PM edit delete reply

nah shes not a violent person - if she was the supervisor would have been wearing his damn clipboard ..up his ass..
Draginbeard 24th Jul 2013, 4:35 AM edit delete reply

I think Connie more dissapointed than anything. She may keep trying, but at this moment, I dont think anyones feelings have been overly stepped on.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2013, 12:43 PM edit delete reply

nah .. she hasnt known him that long to lay a claim .. :D
KarToon12 24th Jul 2013, 9:10 AM edit delete reply

"Strong as hell, black as night."

I think places would sell more coffee with a tagline like that. XDXD
Centcomm 24th Jul 2013, 12:43 PM edit delete reply

certainly to hard core coffee drinkers :D
Antonious 24th Jul 2013, 6:46 PM edit delete reply

That would be me. I like to take 4oz extra finely ground coffee and pass 200 degree water through it, reheat the drip through and repeat twice more. I call it Dragon's Blood and tell people it is the inverse of Sanka decaf. Instead of 99.7% caffeine free, I say it is 99.7% caffeine. The other .3% gives it color, flavor and makes it liquid.
Tibbittz 24th Jul 2013, 12:21 PM edit delete reply

Love the dialogue. And they'd obviously be knocking boots already if she wasn't wearing a giant argyle sock as a shirt.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2013, 12:43 PM edit delete reply

I never said she had good taste... LOL note blacks "nice shirt" comment ...
Stormwind13 28th Jul 2013, 9:31 AM edit delete reply

Actually, I'm not sure it qualifies as Argyle. It doesn't seem to be a solid color. :-) However, having said that... It is a Tartan pattern and those should have been BANNED!

According to Buck Godot, Plaids (which should have been tartan, but the author is American) were banned because they drove computers insane.

Maybe that is the whole problem here, all the AIS are crazy because they HAVEN'T banned (plaids) tartan patterns! :-D
Dragonrider 24th Jul 2013, 4:22 PM edit delete reply

Don't think there will be any trouble for anyone other than Black, imagine he will experience frost bite shoulder for a while, or she makes a pass at Marcus in retaliation.
cattservant 24th Jul 2013, 4:44 PM edit delete reply

They'll all soon be way too occupied to indulge in social amusements for a while!
JustNoPoint 24th Jul 2013, 5:37 PM edit delete reply

It's always the eye patch guys that the girls swoon for ;_;
ranger_brianna_new 25th Jul 2013, 12:57 AM edit delete reply

Why do you think it's such a common trope for dialog like this to happen? :P

"When'd you lose the eye?"

"Oh, I didn't. I just like the look."

:P
