You are EVIL, CentComm! :-D
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 11:03 PM edit delete reply

yup yup thats my job!
Sheela 6th Sep 2013, 1:53 PM edit delete reply

Secretly, she's a small spikey ball of hate ! XD

And everybody went "what?"...
Guest 6th Sep 2013, 4:46 PM edit delete reply
She is learning from Rose, Sheela? :-D
Sheela 6th Sep 2013, 4:56 PM edit delete reply

Or she's one and the same AIS .. with a split personality.
It's like a nightmare to security people.
A nightmare on both LSD *and* Cocaine.
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Quick, someone get the time machine warmed up so we can get MORE updates! :-D
Don B. 5th Sep 2013, 9:06 PM edit delete reply
I take it she's finally got a grip but is gonna still kick Marcus' ass just because...reasons.
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 9:10 PM edit delete reply

Marcus pushed TeeDee's buttons a little TOO well, I fear. She still has some frustrations to work out, looks like Marcus. Guess who got designated as target for said frustrations? :-D
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 11:03 PM edit delete reply

THAT would be marcus.. hey he knew the risks .. :D
cattservant 5th Sep 2013, 9:45 PM edit delete reply

Does anyone think that way way down deeper than she can recognize, TeeDee might still be jealous of Ada's relationship with Marcus?
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 10:20 PM edit delete reply

It is possible Cat, but I'm not seeing it. I think TeeDee just wants some payback from Marcus for some of his actions/comments. :-)
Marcus Ramesy 5th Sep 2013, 11:39 PM edit delete reply

I knew the risks going in to this, she needs to open up the throttle and see what she can do.. better me.. than some one less forgiving.. or some poor un augmented human
Rashala 6th Sep 2013, 3:53 PM edit delete reply

*still in a full boy traction from Pinching tedee's butt 30 pages ago* Where were you when she tested it on me!!!
Guest 6th Sep 2013, 3:58 PM edit delete reply
laughing my ass off because you know better.
highlander55 5th Sep 2013, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Now Teedee is at full capacity. My only concern is now she is more of a danger to others than before. Like getting a super power and going ape shit with it.

("with great power comes great responsibility") Sounds familiar doesn't it?
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 9:11 PM edit delete reply

Stan Lee? Where? I don't see him in the comic. :-D
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 11:02 PM edit delete reply

she actually is past the danger point. :D and should now be a asset rather than a danger :D ( hopfully )
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 11:26 PM edit delete reply

Well, I'm not sure Marcus will agree with you just yet CentComm. :-D
anarcha 5th Sep 2013, 9:10 PM edit delete reply

Yee hawww!
'split the moment into frames'--very nice showing her movements within this time frame --the blurs work really well.
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

aww thanks - i was hoping the blurs didnt look cheesey
anarcha 5th Sep 2013, 11:42 PM edit delete reply

You nailed it in row three by making her clear and still, and blurring him -- conveyed the time difference well.
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 9:14 PM edit delete reply

Despite sounding like she was doing the SMART thing and running away, I still see the barkeep behind her bar. :-)

Shielded along with Doctor Silver.
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:59 PM edit delete reply

hey.. standing there is technicly safer than houses .. and its HER bar .. shes not leaving.
cattservant 5th Sep 2013, 9:22 PM edit delete reply

Cliff-hangers are good, they keep our undies well ventilated!
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:59 PM edit delete reply

LOL
Antonious 6th Sep 2013, 8:08 PM edit delete reply

So do kilts.
cattservant 6th Sep 2013, 8:25 PM edit delete reply

I thought one didn't wear undies with kilts...
Antonious 7th Sep 2013, 7:11 PM edit delete reply

There is always what's undie de kilt.
jamie59 5th Sep 2013, 9:33 PM edit delete reply

So she can run at hyper speed for 5 hours. What does Teedee run into a forced sleep when the clock reaches 0:00:00?
Tokyo Rose 5th Sep 2013, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

Five minutes, actually.
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:59 PM edit delete reply

"overdrive" combat mode depeates the stored energy reserves of the andriod that uses it. basicly causing them to be VERY tired IF she used the whole 5 minutes. :D

it also places massive stresses on the body and joints.
Qwent 6th Sep 2013, 3:33 PM edit delete reply

Did she waste half a second, or did you split the second into 60 parts?
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 3:49 PM edit delete reply

its a MIN/SEC/then 1/60th of a second .. like you said :D
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

Did TeeDee really just give herself 5 MINUTES to beat on Marcus? That will be a LONG 5 minutes for poor Marcus if that is the case.

I mean, in less than half a SECOND she already smacked him a good one. At that rate, she could lay into him with like 600 hits in that amount of time! =O
Tokyo Rose 5th Sep 2013, 10:03 PM edit delete reply

She would legally have to scream "ATATATATATATA" while doing so.

As demonstrated here by the master (starting at about 30 seconds in).
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 10:34 PM edit delete reply

You can talk to her about that, Rose. I think I'll stay out of TeeDee's reach right now. :-D
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

Proably a FINE idea :D
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:58 PM edit delete reply

LOL >_<
Sheela 6th Sep 2013, 3:12 PM edit delete reply

Rather than cheesy sound effects, I just add some music, like Bang-a-rang to the mix, and you have some proper action going on. :)
It too starts up slow, and then proceeds to kick ass for a while, and ends on a note of "feel good" and awesome.
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 10:16 PM edit delete reply

And Rose, great job on TeeDee's comments especially. I was laughing at poor Marcus when TeeDee let him know she wasn't done with him.

Though even the comments to herself are well done. Telling us things about how TeeDee is thinking now. :-)
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

I kinda like giving insite to how the charcters think - you will see more of these form other chacters as well :D
JustNoPoint 5th Sep 2013, 10:44 PM edit delete reply

So I wonder if anyone else can even see the fight at this point.

Oh sciency question. Do they create some sort of field that disperses the energy and friction they create at these speeds? Just wondering since there would be massive shock waves and fires starting.

Or just "Don't think about that part. Suspension of disbelief! This is just a story! Which is a totally fine answer that I use at times too.
Tokyo Rose 5th Sep 2013, 10:55 PM edit delete reply

The Bellisarios Maxim applies. "Don't examine this too closely."
Centcomm 5th Sep 2013, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

actually - the range is really short and they arent moving any faster than a highly trained martial artist. she isnt breaking the sound barrier. and her senses slow down "time" kinda for her. so it seems like everyhing is bluring past her. :D
Stormwind13 5th Sep 2013, 11:15 PM edit delete reply

This is more like 'riding the tick' that Alicia DeVries does in Path of the Fury. :-)
Sheela 6th Sep 2013, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

Path of the Fury is such an awesome book.'
Anyone who haven't read it, should go and do so .. now!
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 3:50 PM edit delete reply

LOL
Guest 6th Sep 2013, 4:48 PM edit delete reply
If not SOONER, Sheela! :-D

In fact, toss them in the time machine and send them back in time so they CAN read it already. :-D
Draginbeard 5th Sep 2013, 11:12 PM edit delete reply

Holy crap, the hand rendering in the first panel alone is worth the price of admission to this page!

Really well done, all around =D
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 12:45 AM edit delete reply

actually the hand shot, the injury is a hand painted effect I did in photoshop :D to get the small veins and skin damage over the metallic underlayers :D
Draginbeard 6th Sep 2013, 1:53 AM edit delete reply

Even more impressive then!
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 3:50 PM edit delete reply

why thank you!
plymayer 6th Sep 2013, 12:02 AM edit delete reply

Wow. She still wears a watch!
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 12:45 AM edit delete reply

yep and in addition to telling time - it has several other features as well :D
plymayer 6th Sep 2013, 1:41 AM edit delete reply

Let me guess: She can play space invaders on there!
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

hehe - well i will say this. the two greenish lines of "gems" are actually holostrips :D
cattservant 6th Sep 2013, 3:55 AM edit delete reply

It's not a disguised Arisian Lens is it?
Tokyo Rose 6th Sep 2013, 4:26 AM edit delete reply

No, she does NOT have a Lens.

Ah, the Lensmen series, from whence arose the most spectacular case of overkill in fiction*: Hitting planets with other planets (plural) that are made of antimatter and propelled at FTL velocities.

* Until Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann came along and gave us "Weapon Proficiency: Galaxy (Thrown)".
cattservant 6th Sep 2013, 4:35 AM edit delete reply

Don't forget the Sunbeam!

[If you folks ever run out of plot, you could do a very fine job in the Lensman Universe!]

(While I'm up in The Woods, I think I will reread the whole Series again!)
Marcus Ramesy 6th Sep 2013, 8:09 AM edit delete reply

hey.... I liked tengen toppa.... I loved the over kill factor in int.:P
Sheela 6th Sep 2013, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

Ah, when it comes to overkill, the old sci-fi series called Lexx was pretty good at it ... they start off softly with earth, then a few mnore planets, then the univers, then heaven and hell and then yet another universe ... can't remember how it ended, but I suspect they ended up destroying something more.
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 3:50 PM edit delete reply

it becomes a "how can we top this problem " :D
Sheela 6th Sep 2013, 3:57 PM edit delete reply

Indeed .. it's one of those one-upmanship issues.
When everything is already +1, how do you go above ?
Antonious 6th Sep 2013, 8:18 PM edit delete reply

I have every one of the Lensman series in paperback. Some are even first PB printing. I also have the Skylark series. I would love to see a well done webcomic of those series. Golden age geek heaven.
cattservant 7th Sep 2013, 7:57 AM edit delete reply

A Cent-comm style webcomic would be better than a movie!
And no messing around with the 'details' to conform with current day expectations either!
It is a historical work after all!
Fairportfan 6th Sep 2013, 12:29 AM edit delete reply

Mess withe the bull, you got no kick coming about the horns.
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 12:45 AM edit delete reply

yes that is SO damn true :D
ranger_brianna_new 6th Sep 2013, 3:04 AM edit delete reply

To be fair, he kinda WAS asking for it. :P
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 3:51 PM edit delete reply

oh you have NO idea..
Guest 6th Sep 2013, 3:57 PM edit delete reply
no.. I wasnt asking for it.. I was demanding.. there is a slight diference...
Guest 6th Sep 2013, 4:50 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, the slight difference is when you got TeeDee's head screwed back on straight she STILL is going to kick your ass! :-D
mjkj 6th Sep 2013, 3:56 AM edit delete reply

Oh, that smile (or better: smirk) in panel one is foreboding...

...so, revenge it is? ...poor Marcus...
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 3:51 PM edit delete reply

oh yeah .. payback is a bitch..
CyberSkull 6th Sep 2013, 7:21 AM edit delete reply

So what happens when the 5 min activation is up? Does she burn out, wear out or just plain stop?

Also, an equal sign in just about every computer context is an assignment operator; if you want to make a report, use a colon instead (e.g. "variable: value" is a report whereas "variable = value" is an assignment). ;)
Centcomm 6th Sep 2013, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

when the 5 min is up she just gets very tired. like someone who ran a marathon :D
Stormwind13 6th Sep 2013, 4:58 PM edit delete reply

I was going to say she is going to need LOTS of calories to make up the energy she just burned up! :-D

And CyberSkull, are you sure those are equal signs? They look (to me) like dash with a shadow font turned on. There isn't a clear space between the bars like I would expect for an equal sign.
CyberSkull 6th Sep 2013, 8:47 PM edit delete reply

Looks like an odd equal sign to me.
Stormwind13 6th Sep 2013, 8:58 PM edit delete reply

Maybe Rose will clear up the matter. To equal or to dash, that is the question. :-)
Rashala 6th Sep 2013, 7:30 PM edit delete reply

Translation: Just likeultraman andother super heroes with a super mode that has a time limit.

Best example for this. Armitage when she knocked on heaven's Door *google it*
ge2org 6th Sep 2013, 4:55 PM edit delete reply

I'm just wondering: what happened to Kyle and rose, dolly and Ceci, acantha Lynn and Aeneas?
Stormwind13 6th Sep 2013, 5:10 PM edit delete reply

Well Kyle and Rose are up next, whenever TeeDee gets done schooling Marcus in manners and CentComm gets any other loose ends tidied up. :-D

Then I think it will be back to Acantha and Lynn with a helping of Aeneas on the side.

Then may or may not get a quick update in New Troy with Minx, Calliope and lover boy, I mean Ray (who still doesn't have an entry in the Cast Page). Not sure if CentComm needs to say anything with them or not. Oh, and I guess CentComm could be involved too. But who would want it to be, I mean why involve such a minor character? :-D

Then we will get back to the REAL stars of the comic, Dolly and Ceci! :-D Last seen in Play the Hand (6 June 2013).
mjkj 6th Sep 2013, 10:03 PM edit delete reply

*lol*

PS: did you mean New Sparta, since CentComm is in New Troy and Lynn was on her way to New Sparta for her birthday party and her boyfriend
Highlander55 6th Sep 2013, 10:20 PM edit delete reply
I thought this was about Lynn and her kidnapping? <grinning like the Grinch>
Stormwind13 6th Sep 2013, 10:33 PM edit delete reply

That's what CentComm thought too, until Dolly got loose and told her otherwise. :-D
mjkj 7th Sep 2013, 3:52 AM edit delete reply

Nah, all of that - including Lynn's kidnapping - is an orchestrated plot from the AISs to set the world straight again...
cattservant 7th Sep 2013, 8:02 AM edit delete reply

I think there is a power play going on between the 'inside' AISs and 'outside' ones.
Rashala 7th Sep 2013, 2:29 AM edit delete reply

I hate seeing bad behavior rewarded with triumph over logic and common sense. It's like giving in to a child's temper tantrums, which is what this overgrown chip-baby Bitch has been pitching since she showed up. I truly do not Like this character. If a little near death experience messes her mind up this badly, she's in the wrong line of work altogether. Poor selection, no matter how much trick combat 'ware is in her ungrateful little head right now. She is a Problem. I kind of want to see her get wasted just to shut her up.
Feed her to the Prince.
Tokyo Rose 7th Sep 2013, 6:12 AM edit delete reply

We've addressed the reasons for Teedee's unstable behavior before--she endured severely traumatic death, a reload into a body she did not and never would have chosen, being forced out on the mission with zero post-reload psychological counseling or reorientation assistance, etc.

Writing for the character during this arc has been uncomfortable and difficult; I've known people who have suffered severe post-traumatic stress disorder, and it's not a pleasant thing to convey. We have chosen to portray her in such a way as to keep her viewpoint off the screen, which has the unfortunate effect of making her appear to be excessively antagonistic and negative. It's still a lot better than trying to use any of the drafts that DO show her viewpoint and internal monologue; I put a great deal of myself into my writing, and breaking down in tears every five minutes doesn't get pages done.
Sheela 7th Sep 2013, 7:33 AM edit delete reply

I should hope not.

Besides, TeeDee's potential has yet to be revealed.
cattservant 7th Sep 2013, 8:04 AM edit delete reply

A late bloomer...
mjkj 7th Sep 2013, 4:05 PM edit delete reply

*comforts Rose*

Your writing *is* great - thank you so much for your effort.
Stormwind13 7th Sep 2013, 8:16 AM edit delete reply

Thank you for your efforts Rose. You are delivering a quality product. Both funny and thought provoking (as judged by the number of comments generated) with your words. :-)
Centcomm 7th Sep 2013, 11:07 AM edit delete reply

Hmm - I realize this was a guest comment. so im not sure when you will respond. PTSD and similar type disorders are very hard to diagnose and live with. and people respond to them in diffrent ways. TD has always had a chip on her shoulder BUT her and Ada get things done. Centcomm doesnt care so much about the method as the result.
Sheela 7th Sep 2013, 1:41 PM edit delete reply

A chip on her shoulder, huh ?
She uses her shoulder to think with ? >_<
velvetsanity 7th Sep 2013, 5:11 PM edit delete reply

Is the chip on her shoulder a Dorito or a Pringle? Maybe the problem is that it's the wrong flavor for her preferences?

(I was going to throw in my $0.02 about PTSD, but really, let's just get back to enjoying the comic...)
KarToon12 7th Sep 2013, 12:14 PM edit delete reply

All of her expressions in all of these panels are perfect! :D
Don B. 7th Sep 2013, 12:49 PM edit delete reply
All I know is if I see that expression on TeeDee's face directed at me in the future, I'll kiss my ass goodbye and hope she kills me quick. She looks very much like the cat pondering the mouse in the middle of the room that has just finished giving said cat the finger and a few choice words.
Stormwind13 7th Sep 2013, 1:13 PM edit delete reply

That is VERY apt, I think Don. :-D

Of course, remember the Mouse That Roared! :-D So it might not be as one sided as we think.
Centcomm 7th Sep 2013, 1:31 PM edit delete reply

aww thankys - im really pleased with the expression in panel one :D

at storm LOL totally awesome that story is trally cool :D
Sheela 7th Sep 2013, 1:42 PM edit delete reply

Besides, Marcus may have some combat drugs he can take to remove the time lag and go toe-to-toe with TeeDee.

Wouldn't that be an unpleasant surprise for TeeDee ? :D
Stormwind13 7th Sep 2013, 2:38 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, but the sooner Marcus falls down the less damage he takes (probably) and the sooner they can get back to the MISSION.

So Marcus has to stay focused on what is important here. Not get his ego too engaged and wind up with both TeeDee and Marcus being put out of commission.
Tokyo Rose 7th Sep 2013, 4:39 PM edit delete reply

Marcus is a good soldier; he's generally able to keep his ego in check and behave in a professional manner.

Generally. :D
Centcomm 7th Sep 2013, 7:17 PM edit delete reply

combat drugs are very very bad to use and are only used under life and death points. they have insane addiction factors and massive side effects .. :D
mjkj 7th Sep 2013, 7:42 PM edit delete reply

Hmmm, I almost would say that would qualify as a life and death situation.

...almost, because I believe TeeDee still has enough control (and Marcus *is* a friend after all)
Glendale2x 7th Sep 2013, 8:30 PM edit delete reply
Isn't this obvious behavior going to out her as "clockwork" to the observing citizen from Roma? And possibly come back to bite them in the ass later.
Centcomm 7th Sep 2013, 8:38 PM edit delete reply

who Teedee? at worst they think shes a psychotic combat cyborg. or a drug addict.
Rashala 8th Sep 2013, 7:57 PM edit delete reply

Or...really into rough sex *Dives behind a neutronium door inside a neutronuium bunker and locks the door*
Mister Black 8th Sep 2013, 8:06 PM edit delete reply

It depends on who (or what) the 'observing citizen' is.

Marcus can probably speak to this with more authority than I, but there's a concept in intelligence work called "credibility of source" that comes into play here. In fact, this is a perfect example of it.

If our observer is an actual member of the Nova Roman intelligence service, we were *already* blown. Agents are rare, even in a totalitarian police state, so the odds of one 'just happening' to be in the bar where we stopped are fairly long.

If the observer isn't an agent, you have a report from someone in a bar that they saw something unbelievable. The likely reaction will be along the lines of "And after enough wastelander rot-gut, *anybody* will see something unbelievable!"

After all, it's only a few glasses' distance from "In vino veritas" to "In vino puniceis barrus". :-D
Centcomm 8th Sep 2013, 8:31 PM edit delete reply

is curious what that means now :D
Tokyo Rose 8th Sep 2013, 8:34 PM edit delete reply

"In vino veritas": "In wine, truth".
"In vino puniceis barrus": "In wine, purple elephants". :D
