Yay! New page. Kind of earlier than I expected it. But I'll TAKE IT! :-D

Thank you, CentComm... Rose. :-)
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:20 AM edit delete reply

welcome :D
Stormwind13 3rd Dec 2013, 9:08 PM edit delete reply

The downside of being in one of the most secure locations in New Troy, I guess. :-D

If anything DOES ever happen, it will be pure TERROR (I mean, to assault the place would take a fricking giant robot or army of smaller ones :-D)... This is the rest of the time, pure unadulterated boredom. :-D
Hornet 4th Dec 2013, 10:17 AM edit delete reply
Always put your money on the "army of smaller ones". Big ones just make fewer and bigger targets.
antrik 10th Oct 2016, 2:18 AM edit delete reply
This actually depends a lot on the relative power of available weapons vs. available shielding.

Historically, more often than not any armour that can be applied to mobile units is not effective enough to withstand massive fire from medium-sized weapons; which indeed tends to favour a larger number of small units. Stationary bunkers on the other hand historically tend to have rather effective armouring, which needs *really* big guns to do any substantial damage to...

(On present-day earth, the latter depends mostly on whether counting tactical nukes or not I guess...)

In short, your claim is impossible to decide without knowing a lot more about weapons/shields technology available in 3825.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:21 AM edit delete reply

hehe - Zurg tactics :D its better with lots and lots :D
Don B. 3rd Dec 2013, 9:16 PM edit delete reply
I have no idea who this is but I like her already. Looks like she's emoting for all she's worth.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:23 AM edit delete reply

yes she is.. actually part of the credit for this page goes to a idea I got from talking to fellow artist/creator Zelfia.. Hes in the military and often seems to draw LONG boring dutys.
Don B. 4th Dec 2013, 11:52 AM edit delete reply
She's very cute in panel 3. Classic over acting. Too bad for her that her companions have no sense of humor.
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 2:31 PM edit delete reply

Those are preferable to the short and active tours, your life expectancy is significantly higher with long and boring.
velvetsanity 10th Jun 2017, 11:22 AM edit delete reply

Military service is unending stretches of interminable boredom punctuated by moments of sheer stark terror.
rogergibson 3rd Dec 2013, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Gorgeous as always. And culture! My goodness!
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:23 AM edit delete reply

thank you - I try to plesae :D
Stormwind13 3rd Dec 2013, 9:18 PM edit delete reply

Is the nice (but bored) police officer an android or a human? I think she is an android, but I can't see her eyes well enough yet to be sure. :-)

And Shakespeare still known and relevant in the year 3825. Kind of frightening that they hung onto him like that, almost like someone thought he was famous or something. :-D
Dragonrider 3rd Dec 2013, 9:29 PM edit delete reply

Stormwind13 look at the hair she has the central blue highlights and the eyes are reflective so I'd say she be a security droid, doubt Centy would trust "mere" humans for guard duty.
highlander55 3rd Dec 2013, 9:41 PM edit delete reply
Or she is human and her eyes are glazed over from boredom. LOL
Stormwind13 3rd Dec 2013, 9:43 PM edit delete reply

Truthfully I thought most of that was lighting. And I don't think there is anything that says a human can't get their hair color changed too, Dragonrider. I mean, Lynn had some semi-permanent dye when she was captured (see Don't Cry, currently page 194 though that will be changing soon). :-) Like I said, I can't see the eyes well enough to be sure, or if the lighting is throwing their appearance off.
Dragonrider 3rd Dec 2013, 10:21 PM edit delete reply

As I recall androids are restricted to certain hair colors, (Dolly is exempt from the restriction with her new body).
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:25 AM edit delete reply

Actually Andriods have NO restrictions for hair color or eye color - there just has to be a "diffrence" but even that is only mildly suggested..
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:24 AM edit delete reply

Hehe - yeah the speech bubble is kinda a dead give-a-way :D
Tokyo Rose 3rd Dec 2013, 11:08 PM edit delete reply

She's got a tinted speech balloon and a specific font. Android! ;D
Stormwind13 3rd Dec 2013, 11:14 PM edit delete reply

Ah! Good point, Rose. :-) Didn't consider that, and I know better.
velvetsanity 4th Dec 2013, 1:05 AM edit delete reply

Her eyes are also glowing, that's another key hint ^_^
Stormwind13 4th Dec 2013, 8:20 PM edit delete reply

Her eyes looked bright, but not glowing to me. And with the lighting she is in, I couldn't be sure if it was her or the lighting.
mjkj 4th Dec 2013, 6:40 AM edit delete reply

Shakespeare? You sure that was not the produce of the thousand monkeys (or similar post apocalyptic creatures) with typewriters (or computers)...?
Antonious 3rd Dec 2013, 9:20 PM edit delete reply

Standard fare for the profession. A lifetime of boredom which if you are unlucky may be punctuated by moments of extreme terror. If you are lucky you will find a joke or good story to relieve the boredom.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:25 AM edit delete reply

Yep :D
Dragonrider 3rd Dec 2013, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Something isn't right about this entrance, is this the service entrance where deliveries are made? Also why do I think the card ain't gonna work, the bored guard practicing for the Shakespeare revival is gonna go postal Mira's temper is gonna flare and she ends up in the cooler for the period of her pass and it's not renewed. Also do you read Pibgorn in the daily strips because they are doing a modern day Romeo and Juliet arc right now.
Stormwind13 3rd Dec 2013, 9:59 PM edit delete reply

If I'm reading the sign right, it says Private Entrance... and then warns that any and all could be shot on sight (Pro-Active Defenses?). :-D Anyone notice the multibarrel cannon in the second panel? Looks like the one the giant warbots mount. Or like the ones the mech had in Ahta. :-D

I think it is just what it says it is, the private entrance to a secure location. The vehicle isn't going in there, just the people. :-)
Dragonrider 3rd Dec 2013, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

Yeah I saw the gatling gun and noticed it seems to be pointed right at the card reader so if a false card is proffered there's no need to target the gun, its preset.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:26 AM edit delete reply

hehe - noticed that did ya :D
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 2:34 PM edit delete reply

Yes and that worries me if Mira's card doesn't read properly, at that point it's clean up on aisle 5, move along folks nothing to see here.
cattservant 3rd Dec 2013, 9:25 PM edit delete reply

How is Android Olfactory Proficiency?
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:27 AM edit delete reply

it depends on the model.. model 3s and up have human level or better than human sense of smell ..
cattservant 4th Dec 2013, 11:37 AM edit delete reply

And Mira (the human)
is getting
Seriously 'Stressed'
Whilst Krystal (the android)
is getting
Generously 'Gassed'!
anarcha 3rd Dec 2013, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

"If I put my hands on the wheel, will that help?"
Ha ha just like what I say to my friends when I'm driving!
Dragonrider 3rd Dec 2013, 9:32 PM edit delete reply

Mira begins to remind me of the joke, "I want to die quietly in bed like Grandpa, not screaming in shear terror like the people in my car right now."
antrik 10th Oct 2016, 1:35 AM edit delete reply
The joke actually goes: I want to pass away peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did, not screaming and kicking like the passengers in his car.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:27 AM edit delete reply

hahah - AHHHH runs in terror..
JacobJSebastian 3rd Dec 2013, 9:33 PM edit delete reply

Reminds me of that joke: My grandpa died peacefully in his sleep. Since he was driving, everyone else in the car was screaming their heads off.
Plumbata 3rd Dec 2013, 9:46 PM edit delete reply
Been there. I HATE "The Bard" after being force fed his works in school.

I'll take Hemingway any day. He'd be a lot more fun to hang out with.
Dragonrider 3rd Dec 2013, 9:49 PM edit delete reply

I hear Willie was a bit on the wild side himself every once in a while, or if you subscribe to the Sir Frances Bacon school of thought he was quite a character, supposedly Illuminati as I recall.
jamie59 3rd Dec 2013, 11:18 PM edit delete reply

Why do I feel she won't be bored for long. Mira will solve that problem when she hits the NTPD Lockout.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:28 AM edit delete reply

heheh - more than likely :D
velvetsanity 4th Dec 2013, 1:07 AM edit delete reply

Suddenly...Shakespeare!

It would be hilarious if Mira shows up and starts quoting Romeo's part in the scene. Random and pointless (and highly out of character, I suspect) but entertaining none-the-less
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:29 AM edit delete reply

in the immortal words of Monty python - And now.. for something compleatly diffrent...

( hey I debated useing monty python or saterday night live .. )
Don B. 4th Dec 2013, 3:57 PM edit delete reply
Mira quoting Shakespeare? With her accent? I'd like to see that. My brother once asked me why I complain about Shakespeare when I clearly know nothing about it. My response? "Away, young varlet! I'll hear no more of thy vile imputations this day!" It's the familiarity with his work that breeds the dislike. Just not my kinda thing. I do like when it pops up out of context like this tough.
Draginbeard 4th Dec 2013, 1:19 AM edit delete reply

yes I feel her pain of boredom. She will be the next likely person to start a webcomic while on the job!!
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:29 AM edit delete reply

Ohh yeah -- defenintly :D
Greenwood Goat 4th Dec 2013, 5:06 AM edit delete reply
Perhaps she should try Hamlet's soliloquy...

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous boredom...

To sleep: perchance to get fired: ay, there's the rub...

>:=)>
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:30 AM edit delete reply

also a good one .. or Milton :D
velvetsanity 4th Dec 2013, 1:25 PM edit delete reply

And there's always Poe
highlander55 4th Dec 2013, 9:57 PM edit delete reply

Now if she was playing Vivaldi in the background. Definitely bored and sleepy.
LurkerAbove 4th Dec 2013, 6:25 AM edit delete reply
New comic, new character, new incentive, yay!

But is it intentional that we are re-using the numbers 1080, 1081 now ?
mjkj 4th Dec 2013, 6:43 AM edit delete reply

Yep that is intentional, since CentComm is replacing the older one-panel pages with newer multi-panel ones and therefore reducing the total page count...
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:31 AM edit delete reply

Yep as Mjkj said .. im replacing older pages with new ones this results in a 4 to 5 page reduction each time .. :D
mjkj 4th Dec 2013, 6:37 AM edit delete reply

Wow, nice one.

...and Mira finally convinced Krystal... :p

I hope the nice police officer lady will not be harmed in the upcoming confrontation...
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 11:31 AM edit delete reply

or anyone else :D
mjkj 4th Dec 2013, 12:06 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I hope neither Krystal, Mira nor Calliope will be harmed either..
Mayyday 4th Dec 2013, 11:45 AM edit delete reply

Gotta pass the time SOMEHOW, I suppose. :)
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 12:39 PM edit delete reply

hehe tell me this has not happened :P
velvetsanity 4th Dec 2013, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

Oh, it's happened many times on CQ or Staff Duty. Not necessarily Romeo and Juliet, but still.

I've seen people have at each other with nerf swords from the boredom.
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 2:43 PM edit delete reply

I know of one police department where there are concealed slots in the wall of the holding tank, The Cops will go back there with a squirt gun and soak one of the passed out drunks and wake him up squirting water on his face just to watch him tear into other people in the cell for what he thinks they did to him that got him wet.
Marcus Ramesy 4th Dec 2013, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

I will neither confirm nor deny the use of nerf swords while on guard duty... nor the use of petroleum based lubricant under mobile apparatus for containing the posterior end of a primate.
Tokyo Rose 4th Dec 2013, 8:18 PM edit delete reply

The one shining moment that stands out for me from the years I spent in Girl Scouts remains the weekend trip to a ranch where we re-enacted "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" in the bunkhouse in the middle of the night. /nostalgic tear
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 8:24 PM edit delete reply

has learned a new thing about Rose today.. :D
Tokyo Rose 4th Dec 2013, 8:31 PM edit delete reply

You knew that I'm a Python fan already :D
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 8:41 PM edit delete reply

well yeah im just surprised you found OTHERS that got it :D
Sheela 4th Dec 2013, 8:42 PM edit delete reply

Ah ... were you lucky enough to have the role of Zoot then ? :)
Tokyo Rose 4th Dec 2013, 8:53 PM edit delete reply

Lancelot. Bloodthirsty lunatic. :D
Sheela 4th Dec 2013, 9:11 PM edit delete reply

Ah .. but wasn't it Sir Galahad that visited Zoot and the other nuns in Castle Anthrax ?
highlander55 4th Dec 2013, 10:02 PM edit delete reply

Just be careful of the Killer Rrrrabbitt!
antrik 10th Oct 2016, 1:55 AM edit delete reply
You... Were a girl scout?... Not sure whether I should be scared or amused :-)
Rashala 4th Dec 2013, 5:12 PM edit delete reply

Is she trying to........Seduce or wax romantic to a battledroid?
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 6:10 PM edit delete reply

she could be talking to another floating droid .. :D
Don B. 4th Dec 2013, 11:11 PM edit delete reply
I'm kinda wondering who or what is off panel not saying anything. I'm pretty sure gatling guns don't observe in tactful silence.
Rashala 5th Dec 2013, 4:05 AM edit delete reply

The Gattling Gun barrels in Panel 2 Kiiiinda give it away centy
KarToon12 4th Dec 2013, 6:07 PM edit delete reply

Ah, Romeo and Juliet. A classic.

I can see how this ties in with the various sections of the world being closed off from one another. Let's just hope they can all unite without one of our main characters dying.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 6:11 PM edit delete reply

smirks - someone is reading between the lines :D - awesome :D
Tokyo Rose 4th Dec 2013, 8:18 PM edit delete reply

. . . only one?
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 8:24 PM edit delete reply

oh im sure there is more than one..
Tokyo Rose 4th Dec 2013, 8:30 PM edit delete reply

I meant "only one of our main characters dying" . . .
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 8:40 PM edit delete reply

Be careful kill off too many main characters and You're reduced to his Imperial Douchyness and who knows what would happen if he had to get off the Bidet in his private consultation chamber.
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 8:40 PM edit delete reply

oh.. *starts whistleing innocently*
Sheela 4th Dec 2013, 8:47 PM edit delete reply

I'd be more worried about the fate of the story, if there was only his douchyness left, the rest of the story would be boring indeed.

Unless offcourse they put him in a room with a murderturd, or Tokyo rose .. or a banker ... then it could conceivably be kinda funny.
Tokyo Rose 4th Dec 2013, 8:55 PM edit delete reply

Now there's an idea for a set of filler/Sunday pics, Cent. Ask the readership to submit suggestions for terrible, terrible things that could happen to the Prince, and illustrate them. :D
Centcomm 4th Dec 2013, 9:04 PM edit delete reply

I think you just did .. :D
Sheela 4th Dec 2013, 9:11 PM edit delete reply

Oh my ... what have we started ? XD
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 9:42 PM edit delete reply

Maxus and Kali could each grab a leg and pretend he is the wishbone from a Thanksgiving turkey.
highlander55 4th Dec 2013, 10:06 PM edit delete reply

You could but you don't hear the turkey scream because it's already dead!
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 11:33 PM edit delete reply

His screams are the fun part of it AND he will be dead after they break the "wishbone".
velvetsanity 5th Dec 2013, 1:28 AM edit delete reply

Make it Dolly and Kali :D

After all, Kali wants to protect Nova Roma, but Dolly wants to flay him alive for kidnapping Lynn
cattservant 4th Dec 2013, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

He could actually believe
He could trust his 'Cat'...
Stormwind13 4th Dec 2013, 11:43 PM edit delete reply

NEVER trust the Cat, Cat... :-D They are always plotting the demise of mankind. :-)
cattservant 4th Dec 2013, 11:51 PM edit delete reply

Natural Superiority!
Tokyo Rose 5th Dec 2013, 1:39 AM edit delete reply

She might just poop in his bed. That's how most cats indicate they're seriously mad at you. :D
cattservant 5th Dec 2013, 1:46 AM edit delete reply

A juicy hairball in his power armor boot.
Tokyo Rose 5th Dec 2013, 1:53 AM edit delete reply

Oh, God yes. One of the really nasty wet ones. The kind that makes it abundantly clear that this is, in fact, something that was heaved up from a mammal's digestive tract. Urrrgh, tripped my own gag reflex here . . .
cattservant 5th Dec 2013, 2:11 AM edit delete reply

And they're usually cold
by the time
you step in them!
Dragonrider 4th Dec 2013, 11:40 PM edit delete reply

He and Kali could dance the Minuet in period costumes and the wigs
Sheela 5th Dec 2013, 5:25 AM edit delete reply

You know how the Joker always asks his victims "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

Kali could be the devil, Douchebag could be the victim (who better than him?) and Aeneas could supply some pale moonlight, and maybe play some appropiate music on Nero's fiddle.

.. it would probably be dubstep. >_<
Dragonrider 5th Dec 2013, 7:37 PM edit delete reply

Actually I was thinking of having Aeneas cobble up a couple powered exoskeletons for Lynn and Acantha, rolling up Douchyness in a ball inside a force field then the three of them play soccer with Douchy as the ball.
CyberSkull 4th Dec 2013, 11:51 PM edit delete reply

I read that as "bluescreen'd in night".
Tokyo Rose 5th Dec 2013, 12:59 AM edit delete reply

Oh, good, not just me.
CyberSkull 5th Dec 2013, 7:20 AM edit delete reply

"Bluescreen'd" makes for great Elizabethan cyber cursing, now that I think about it…
Stormwind13 5th Dec 2013, 8:49 PM edit delete reply

Well I guess it could be worse... "...There's a bathroom on the right..." comes to mind. :-D
velvetsanity 10th Jun 2017, 11:30 AM edit delete reply
