Just got to push it over the edge!
Stormwind13 23rd Jan 2014, 9:04 PM edit delete reply

And CentComm learns what her leash feels like. :-D
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 10:23 AM edit delete reply

Hmmmm.

I wonder if Centcomm and Calliope has butted heads before ?
I mean, I can't believe that Centcomm was very happy about Calliope's relationship with Fallon.
Centcomm 24th Jan 2014, 11:15 AM edit delete reply

They have in the past.. The Fallon thing was Calli butting heads with her parents >_<
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 7:48 PM edit delete reply

Oh ? So Centcomm approved of Calliope's relationship with Fallon ?

Iiiinterestink!
cattservant 23rd Jan 2014, 9:09 PM edit delete reply

Krystal is closing in.
She seems quite interested in CentComm 3's reaction.

(btw: Is that a secret hand signal she is making in the last panel?)
Pirtnac 24th Jan 2014, 12:02 AM edit delete reply
Krystal is moving in, fists clenching. Calliope was holding something in her hand. Cent is about to have a bad time.

I'm worried that Cent is about to be conventionally smacked down so quickly Calli won't have the time to realize she has a personal genie.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 2:01 AM edit delete reply

Killing a doll has no discernable effect on Centcomm, she's an AIS, not an android.
That said, Krystal could be a bikiniclad ninja assasin !

... but .. who to assasinate ?
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 1:30 PM edit delete reply

And where the he!! is the bikini?
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 7:48 PM edit delete reply

It's under the very skimpy dress. :)
Howard 11th Sep 2014, 3:51 PM edit delete reply
Yea what is it with the dress code in the future all girls were hooker clothes and skin suits! not that I am complaining mind you
velvetsanity 23rd Jan 2014, 9:10 PM edit delete reply

Good grief, CentComm is clearly not using her vast intelligence very well right now, is she? :P

She should have known better than to try to override the one person with the authority to walk in and pull her power cord unopposed.
Stormwind13 23rd Jan 2014, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

I think CentComm was hoping to move fast and sure enough that Calliope wouldn't have time to counteract her. Calliope has been lost for so long, that CentComm has been able to 'guide' her around things that might upset the apple cart (that is CentComm's controlled NT) before.

Unfortunately, this is NOT that Calliope, as CentComm is about to find out. :-D
Dragonrider 23rd Jan 2014, 9:14 PM edit delete reply

Ooopsie-Poo!!! You were warned the collar is a choke chain and the leash is damn short. Evil-1 you just tried to pull one out of your plastic derriere and found out you held a busted flush. Looks like in this round the Queen beats a pair with the Joker as a kicker.

Edit Notes:
1. Will Krystal be able to accompany Mira to Calli's residence?

2. As a thank you gift to Mira to let her know that her determination and near brush with salsadom is appreciated. I really think Calli and/or Tokyo Rose should send Vinnie home with her. She was so fascinated with him and had very positive things to say about him. Just think what would happen when the next bunch of scum try to hit on her out at her shop. Plus she might even convince Rotter to fix the Air Conditioning.
velvetsanity 23rd Jan 2014, 9:18 PM edit delete reply

on the contrary, Dragonrider, CentComm has a full house and wasn't paying attention to the fact that Calli's betting with a royal flush
Centcomm 23rd Jan 2014, 9:38 PM edit delete reply

well it helps calli "stacked the Deck" :D
velvetsanity 23rd Jan 2014, 9:48 PM edit delete reply

Yes, yes she did. Oddly enough, she did so without CentComm noticing. O_o
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 4:04 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, I think Calliope had her own personal space where no one comes without her SPECIFIC approval. That includes CentComm. Not a huge surprise though, as we already know that Calliope built Dolly without CentComm knowing ANYTHING about it. And apparently with outside help that again CentComm never detected. :-)
cattservant 23rd Jan 2014, 9:44 PM edit delete reply

After all those centuries
Humans are still
Somewhat of a Mystery to CentComm.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 2:09 AM edit delete reply

Well, I reckon that Tower Security is seperate from Centcomm the AIS, so she wouldn't be notified of things like that.

That said, Calliope hasn't gone against Centcomm as such just yet, she's just taken control over what is hers in the first place.

Centcomm can hardly complain about that.
And I think that's a calculated move by Calli.

And yes, Mira could definately use Vinnie to motivate Rotter. :D
See aircon work, work aircon, work !

*Rotter swings a large feathered fan wearing a pink tutu*

Mira : "Feed me grapes Vinnie"
VINNIE : "This ammunition is very non-standard Miss Mir.."
Mira : "Mistress!"
VINNIE : "Mistress Mira, they don't fit any of my guns at all!"
Mira : "Hmm, you'll just have to lob them at me then."
VINNIE : "Very good, and what about the rotten tomatoes?"
Mira : "Those you lob at Rotter." :D
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 3:58 AM edit delete reply

LOL Sheela. I'm not sure that is an image I want to dwell upon; however, it would be pretty funny. And something Rotter DESERVES. :-D
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 6:55 AM edit delete reply

Aw I dunno.

We don't actually know why the two of them work tgether, for all we know, Rotter took her in as a young child and kept her safe until she became the fine young woman that she is now.

Offcourse, he'd have to have done it out of the goodness of his heart, A heart which he has reported as MIA.

... Mira is hiding it in a safe in the basement.
She thinks it's gross!
Centcomm 24th Jan 2014, 11:16 AM edit delete reply

The relationship between Rotter and Mira is interesting :D
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 10:17 AM edit delete reply

Sheena I dunno the image of Rotter in a pink TuTu is a bit more than even the Post Apocalyptic world is prepared for, in fact it might even give all the City-States legitimate cause to band together and wipe the area out leaving it blue and glowing Luna would probably willingly toss in a couple Kinetic Strikes.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 12:49 PM edit delete reply

Heh, I must admit, I'm getting kinda curious about the relationship between Mira and Rotter by now.

Clearly it's not a sexual one.
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 4:18 PM edit delete reply

I'm wondering if she is his daughter... though that brings up the disturbing question of WHO would have sex with Rotter... :-p
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 7:57 PM edit delete reply

Somehow I don't think so, they don't have that kind of "vibe".
I rather think she was a victim of the wastes, possibly a Gutter attack where she lost her parents at an early age, ending up as a gutter rat, and Rotter taking her in because .. well, victims should stand together to survive.

Offcourse I'm also going by the theory that Rotter was burned badly during a Gutter attack and has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to Gutters.

Basically, he's taken her in to spite the Gutters, not to be nice to her or anything, just to spite the bastards. Though, she may or may not have grown on him ... a bit like a fungus! So by now, he might get *real* upset if some Gutter trash came around and threatened her, or worse, kidnapped her for ransom/slave trade.

And frankly, I'm not sure I would like to have Rotter be angry with me, he seems dangerous in his own way. And more than a little bit psychotic, he's definately the type of guy that would patiently torture a Gutter until they told him exactly where Mira would be hold hostage. He's also the kind of guy that would kill *all* gutters within 10 clicks, using Mira as an excuse to be able to continue killing the bastards.

And I don't even think he's particularly *good* at fighting and killing, it's just that he may have the mindset of being quite incredibly cruel if he puts his mind to it. He's the kind of guy that would commit suicide so he could follow his nemesis into hell and kill him again. He seems to have a mindset that is a cross between a Dalek and a Murder Turd with a *thin* veneer of civility painted on top of it, so as to appear human.

Yeah, I don't think I would want Rotter as an enemy.
Dragonrider 25th Jan 2014, 1:33 PM edit delete reply

Nice analysis. Scary as hell but nice.
Sheela 25th Jan 2014, 7:34 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, I just cannot see Rotter as a nice person.
Not necesarily an evil one, but not nice one either.
In fact, I think deep down, he's a good enough person, and even deeper down he's a devious bastard.
He will eventually do the right thing, the good thing - But in a devious manner that profits him as well as gets him even with the enemy bastards.
Stormwind13 25th Jan 2014, 7:49 PM edit delete reply

Can't see it, Sheela. Gutters are a large part of Rotter's business I think. And Rotter would NEVER shoot a customer... unless they didn't pay him. :-)
Tokyo Rose 26th Jan 2014, 12:16 AM edit delete reply

Rotter's actually a mutant.
Dragonrider 25th Jan 2014, 1:34 PM edit delete reply

@stormwind see discussion between Catservant and me below.
highlander55 25th Jan 2014, 7:49 PM edit delete reply

Could also be she is the only mech tech within 200 clicks too! You don't shoot yourself in the foot.
Sheela 26th Jan 2014, 10:06 AM edit delete reply

A mutant, huh ?

interesting.
Dragonrider 23rd Jan 2014, 9:51 PM edit delete reply

Calli Taylor: Drones Directive, take the Evil-1 Doll outside and put it in the waste disposal unit.

Drones: By Your Command

Evil-1: What? What! You can't do this to me.

Calli Taylor: To hell with this Evil-1 Directive, take your self outside and put yourself in the waste disposal unit. Do not destroy the unit allow it to destroy you, now move!

Evil-1 By Your Command.
Rashala 23rd Jan 2014, 10:16 PM edit delete reply

I believe the appropriate sound here as Centys Choke chain is Yanked is Huurkkkkk!!!!!!!
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 10:18 AM edit delete reply

Probably more of a frustrated scream of rage, AAAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
Draginbeard 23rd Jan 2014, 11:51 PM edit delete reply

In the distant future, the magic word is no longer "Please"
mjkj 24th Jan 2014, 1:06 AM edit delete reply

Wow, great one...

* looking forward to seeing CentComm's face as "Horatio" kicks in* :D

CentComm you lost that round...

*hugs Mira and Krystal*
dakyri 24th Jan 2014, 2:05 AM edit delete reply

now that is calli looking like a badass, and centcom acting like a guilty brat. oops. bad move for a city-controlling AI in the domain of the engineer who knows all her codes :)
and krystal, I think we get to see where she fits in ... ready for action, but against who?
Don B. 24th Jan 2014, 8:46 AM edit delete reply
I'm hoping she isn't a mole from Roma.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 12:51 PM edit delete reply

I hope she's not an assasin from DatSys-Corp.
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 3:29 PM edit delete reply

I'm beginning to think that Krystal might belong to Calliope. Reporting directly and providing her a conduit that wouldn't be noticed too much. I mean Krystal is obviously Cloud Level assistant. :-)
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 4:57 PM edit delete reply

@stormwind interesting thought but not canon to the story with the hands off approach she has had since Fallon died. She would have no reason to put a 5th column in place.
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

Not necessarily a 5th column. Calliope apparently has used non-tapped channels to communicate. That might be a courier and someone like Krystal could fulfill that role.

I bring it up because of the way that Krystal reacted when informed at the door that CentComm was meeting them. And then that CentComm (or one of her dolls) had been on site for several days she didn't seem too surprised.
Don B. 24th Jan 2014, 8:25 PM edit delete reply
It could be that Krystal was brought in as a back-up when Dolly and Calli were upgrading security. It's now obvious that at some point, contingency plans were made for CentComm getting out of hand.
Sheela 25th Jan 2014, 7:11 AM edit delete reply

Whenever I hear of the 5th Column, I can't help but remember City of Heroes!

*sigh*

I miss it.
Stormwind13 25th Jan 2014, 4:12 PM edit delete reply

Sigh... Me too. Did you get on-board with City of Titans, Sheela? They blew thru their Kickstarter... so now we are waiting for them to put out pieces for us to see. :-)
Sheela 25th Jan 2014, 7:36 PM edit delete reply

I did indeed ... 70 bucks went their way!
CyberSkull 24th Jan 2014, 7:10 AM edit delete reply

So, cutting the strings or tugging the leash?
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 7:43 AM edit delete reply

@Cyberskull yanking the leash to take the rowdy pit bull into the vet for a distemper shot and if that doesn't work neutering.
Centcomm 24th Jan 2014, 11:19 AM edit delete reply

LOL good one :D
CyberSkull 24th Jan 2014, 2:41 PM edit delete reply

From what I've heard, pit bulls are actually quiet loyal and gentle towards their owners.
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 2:45 PM edit delete reply

When raised properly this is quite true, my boys each had one we got them the day they were weaned and they were ideal house pets very protective but loyal and loveable great with the kids friends.
KarToon12 24th Jan 2014, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

Each page ends on a cliffhanger! XD
Centcomm 24th Jan 2014, 11:20 AM edit delete reply

Thats the idea.... :D keeps them coming back :D
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 3:30 PM edit delete reply

Right up until the mob shows up with pitchforks and torches. :-D
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 10:25 AM edit delete reply

But welcome none the less. :)
Centcomm 24th Jan 2014, 11:20 AM edit delete reply

Thank you !
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 12:50 PM edit delete reply

Huh .. the guy deleted his comments ?

Odd.
cattservant 24th Jan 2014, 1:37 PM edit delete reply

Yes, that was a lot of work.
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 1:01 PM edit delete reply

Question, will Horatius also give her control over This Cent Doll, Krystal, Ray and all other Security features through out New Troy or just in Helios towers.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 1:04 PM edit delete reply

Well, she called out to the Tower Security Matrix, so one would reasonably guess that the limits would be the tower and the tower grounds that it sits upon.

ie. the tower itself, the basement levels and whatever sidewalks / parkingspaces/parks there may be around the tower.
cattservant 24th Jan 2014, 2:23 PM edit delete reply

The various androids wouldn't be any more controlled than any human security.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 8:11 PM edit delete reply

Indeed, only over the stationary defences and bots.

Androids are self controlled, and Dolls are remotely controlled by Centcomm herself.

But the two combat druids next to Centcomm would definately react to it. Possibly even VINNIE, though he may be part of the police force rather than Tower Security, so that's not a certainty either.

However, VINNIE is set to follow Officer Allie's commands and she seems to be solidly on Ms. Taylor's side.
Stormwind13 25th Jan 2014, 7:58 PM edit delete reply

I think Vinnie is a combat drone (medium heavy) and on-site at Helios' Tower... So I think Calliope just pulled Vinnie into her command net by uttering "Horatius".

Now Allie and Krystal aren't going to be impacted by that; however, Calliope is in charge of Helios Tower. I know Officer Allie isn't likely to argue with her, not here in her own tower. :-) Depending on who Krystal calls boss will determine how she acts now. :-)
Sheela 25th Jan 2014, 10:03 PM edit delete reply

Annie is definately self-dependant.
But I also think she's part of the police force, and VINNIE too, so they'd be tied in with the police security matrix instead of the tower defense matrix. So they wouldn't be part of the "horatius" command.

Besides, if they had been directly connected to Tower Defense, they could have just called Calliope directly, instead of having to go trough Minx first.

That said, Allie seems solidly on the side of the Taylor's, so I doubt we'd have to worry about her and VINNIE, unless Centcomm takes direct control over VINNIE. Which would seem a really rather stupid move, especially by someone as smart as Centcomm.
OfficerAllie 12th Sep 2015, 3:44 AM edit delete reply

Captain Timmson ordered me to Protect Ms. Taylor and Helios Tower. If there is someone coming to see Ms. Taylor and Cent Comm is meeting her instead of sending her up to Ms. Taylor, that just screams at me that something isn't quite right.

So I played a hunch and let Officer Ray know what the situation was.

I got chewed out for it when I got off shift later though.

And now I'm on the list for the Detectives Exam and I have over 2,400 pages to read before the exam next month.

I'm going to have to figure out how to work in all the reading and still have time to rehearse for my audition. I want a Lead role this time. I mean I don't mind performing as a secondary character, but you don't get recognized as a bit player like you do when you play Lead.
OfficerAllie 12th Sep 2015, 3:35 AM edit delete reply

Vinnie is sort of controlled by me and Roly on site, however 3C has overwatch and top control. Also Vinnie is outside of the building and shouldn't be affected like the drones inside.

Ms. Taylor probably has ways of overriding 3C's control outside the building, but I don't know if she does or not.
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 12:53 PM edit delete reply

Does our central AIS character have any hobbies besides screwing up the lives of the rich and famous? Does she have a significant other she spends time with evenings and weekends, in other words does she have a "love life'?
Enquiering (And Filthy) Minds Wanna Know.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 1:02 PM edit delete reply

I think it was mentioned somewhere that AIS's didn't have *real* emotions, Bots didn't have full selfawareness only Androids had both ... well, and humans, offcourse.

As far as hobbies, I have no idea if that is even a reasonable sort of question to ask, it might make no sense at all ... kinda like asking "what was before time began" or "what is north of the northpole" ... pure gibberish questions that do not really make sense when you consider them in detail.
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 1:17 PM edit delete reply

True however she manifests in various forms and has certainly shown irritation in the current instance, some vindictiveness in her dealings with Veronica Silver, irritation when she learned of Calli's contacts with an unknown party in developing the new body, she certainly acts like an android when in her pink haired cotton candy form.
cattservant 24th Jan 2014, 1:41 PM edit delete reply

I think the AIs are all part of a secret scythe lizard breeding program.

[That would go a long way toward explaining their rapid evolution and widening distribution.]
Dragonrider 24th Jan 2014, 1:48 PM edit delete reply

That's probably where Rotter came from an early attempt gone bad.
cattservant 24th Jan 2014, 3:11 PM edit delete reply

I bet they have their own magazine.

and feral rose cultivation.
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 8:14 PM edit delete reply

I don't think we need *more* feral Roses ... one is enough, thank you very much. XD
Stormwind13 24th Jan 2014, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

Did you mean way too many, Sheela? :-D
Sheela 24th Jan 2014, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

No, just the right amount, methinks.
Stormwind13 25th Jan 2014, 8:04 PM edit delete reply

I'm wondering Sheela, if one Rose is too much for this world... At least as far as what is SAFE and SANE. :-)
Sheela 25th Jan 2014, 10:06 PM edit delete reply

The one Rose is just enough for an unsafe and insane world.
Rashala 25th Jan 2014, 12:50 AM edit delete reply

*in Traction from Tedee (as marcus calls her the TOASTER) beating him almost to death.....holds out two beers to marcus and TEdee and whispers* Here...watching Pinky about to get her choke chian yanked should be fun to watch!
Dragonrider 25th Jan 2014, 10:05 AM edit delete reply

TeeDee see's Evil-1 get her choke chain jerked up short will comment *snert* "'Bout time Bitch." then turns to Veronica Silver, "Don't let me hear you dissin my number one homie again. Understand??"
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 21st Jul 2014, 12:08 PM edit delete reply

Holy WHAT? How have I not read this since JANUARY?!? I thought for sure I checked in 'round April time. Oi...

...anyway, if I'd composed that last panel, the compositional thigh sandwich around Cent's hand would mean something. I wonder if it means something.
Centcomm 21st Jul 2014, 12:09 PM edit delete reply

sadly no .. just a lucky camera shot .. still funny :D :D
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 21st Jul 2014, 1:52 PM edit delete reply

Oh, that is funny, it looks so blatant and Freudian. My comic is filled with tons of intentional framing like this -- so much so that when I went through and added extra commentary for Patreon, I realized I couldn't even remember it all.
