side note here .. there is a bug in DAZ studio that turns the eye white black if moved too far from the world center. and that's actually quite a distance .. but i found a fix for it in later pages.. also ..if anyone has some change to spare im still recovering from my food budget being cut in half and lack of funds.

Apparently the state of Arizona doesn't think you need to eat more than once a day.

Well, Andrea, you see that right - but I believe the Epiphytes like your straightforwardness better... see how they think of Coburn...

@alt text: indeed - and Olive seems to dislike those...

Andrea's mom is going to be highly disappointed this weekend while Andrea is going to be spending it in politically fraught situations. Let's hope Andrea finds a well placed political ally.
Haegan2005 22nd Jun 2022, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

I suspect that this may take more then a few weekends! Of course, I have been wrong before.
Rocket Fueled 23rd Jun 2022, 12:43 PM edit delete reply

Centcomm _has_ to be watching, I'm surprised she hasn't popped up yet...
megados 23rd Jun 2022, 3:16 PM edit delete reply

I'm sure she is watching and listening. Sometimes, though, she can maybe get more information listening quietly/surreptitiously, than by making her presence known. Some things might not be said with a CentComm doll standing right there
megados 22nd Jun 2022, 5:01 AM edit delete reply

So Olive really sees things as they are. I'm more than a little relieved that she isn't going to let Coburn cause an 'incident'.

Besides being unable to visit her parents, Andrea understands how complicated this can get. That kind of mindfulness would make her very good at what she does. It looks like Olive sees that, and and it's why she's specifically asking Andrea.

*edit: Sometimes I just miss the obvious possibility, and this is one of those times. This is a perfect opportunity for Coburn to shine, and do her stuff. She might have avenues to diplomacy that Andrea doesn't have, to smooth Andrea's path. Then the only thing she has to be concerned about, would be delaying her visit to her parents.
Haegan2005 22nd Jun 2022, 10:00 AM edit delete reply

I much agree about Coburn. But I suspect she doesn't have the empathy yet to do so.
megados 22nd Jun 2022, 11:35 AM edit delete reply

I think you suspect correctly. She may not have the empathy, but that's where Andrea comes in. Coburn is more like a piece of office equipment that Andrea might be able to make use of, if she can get Coburn to stay focused on the task at hand, and keep her personal opinions out of it.
Thracecius 22nd Jun 2022, 12:10 PM edit delete reply

Sadly, I am inclined to agree with both of you (megados & Haegan), but perhaps this will be a learning opportunity for Britta after having both Andrea and Olive rattle her perception of reality. Hopefully she's not the type of person who retreats into denial when faced with an open assessment of her behavior, but I don't have a very good handle on her personality beyond her dedication to the rules of her job. People wear blinders for all manner of reasons and this experience could become the unveiling of the shadows.
megados 22nd Jun 2022, 7:46 PM edit delete reply

I have to admit that my initial impression(s) of Britta Coburn weren't very good, and went downhill from there. Maybe some of these lessons will stick, and she can break out of her paradigm; widen her comfort zone. I sure hope she can change some of those opinions of hers.
Deoxy 22nd Jun 2022, 6:09 AM edit delete reply
*Sometimes*, people do some soul-searching after a harsh-but-truthful comment like that... but I don't think the odds are good for little Britta here.
Centcomm 23rd Jun 2022, 6:28 PM edit delete reply

Britta isnt really a 'bad' person. trust me on this.
megados 24th Jun 2022, 6:05 PM edit delete reply

I don't think she's a bad person per-se. She wouldn't, for instance, evilly do things to hurt people, but she is stuck inside those boxes and lines that she so diligently protects.
Stever 22nd Jun 2022, 6:48 AM edit delete reply

I fear as an autobiographical cartoonist, I'm always trying to fit others into my small kingdom of boxes and lines.

Probably we shall find out Seeker Olive has already foreseen the problems her request makes' and has had Diplomatic and Administrative Credentials in place for our Heroine.
Gilrandir 24th Jun 2022, 2:20 AM edit delete reply
Let’s go for more weirdness than that. The Epiphytes have already been notified that their Speaker of Words has been silenced. So, presumably, a new one is being quickened and credentialed as we speak. Why not send her to liase with the detective … meaning you would have Galatea coming down to investigate Galatea’s murder.
Thracecius 22nd Jun 2022, 11:08 AM edit delete reply

I love Andrea's honesty and empathy, she's exactly the kind of person I like to associate or work with and, when possible, call friend. There are many other reasons why she makes a good investigator, of that I am certain without demonstration, which is another example of why I enjoy all of the Datachasers characters so much.

Thank you, Terri & Krissy, for continuing to share your art & writing with us through all of the challenges you've experienced, I really enjoy and appreciate your labors, sometimes more than I can express with mere words.
Centcomm 23rd Jun 2022, 6:27 PM edit delete reply

you are very welcome - i enjoy making these. its very helpful to me to know that my storys are out there and enjoyed.
KarToon12 22nd Jun 2022, 4:04 PM edit delete reply

Can we please have more telepathic plant people on our political boards please?
Centcomm 23rd Jun 2022, 6:26 PM edit delete reply

there would be a lot less politics.
Ebonbolt 24th Jun 2022, 12:15 PM edit delete reply

megados 24th Jun 2022, 5:57 PM edit delete reply

That would not be a bad thing.
Nomi 22nd Jun 2022, 6:47 PM edit delete reply
I want you to eat more than once a day, but who is Gregory Hale?
Centcomm 22nd Jun 2022, 6:55 PM edit delete reply

that's the name on the PayPal account it means that you found the right one.
Rashala 22nd Jun 2022, 10:50 PM edit delete reply

I officially feel sorry for that detective now, cause you know the paper pusher is going to hound her every step now
Rocket Fueled 23rd Jun 2022, 12:38 PM edit delete reply

Yup, I'd been waiting for that headache in panels 3 & 4. Poor Andrea. She feels the pull of the black hole and doesn't know if she can escape...
jawbone 23rd Jun 2022, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

Seeing Olive pull strings to get Andrea the tools she needs would please me exceedingly; watching Andrea brandish them in Britta's direction would amuse, likewise.
Centcomm 23rd Jun 2022, 6:26 PM edit delete reply

that she does.. and its always the bridge of the nose
jawbone 23rd Jun 2022, 3:02 PM edit delete reply

Did you mispronounce "Arid Zona"?
Centcomm 23rd Jun 2022, 6:26 PM edit delete reply

may.. be?
Ebonbolt 24th Jun 2022, 12:20 PM edit delete reply

Andrea: I'm not sure I can do this; I'm not a diplomat.
Olive: Y'doin' better so far than Cardboard Betty over there. I'd say yer good.
Hell's Dragonfly 24th Jun 2022, 2:02 PM edit delete reply
Ah! The twin speed bumps to solving crimes: bureaucracy and politics. Sadly, they're like Death and Taxes; always there to bedevil us. Little Miss Fillinthe blanks there is in over her head on this one. The LEO, on the other hand, is just trying to do her job as she's been trained to do. Paper pushers and cookie pushers just get in the way. Time to step in, Centcomm.
