As soon as I was old enough to understand what cardiac valves were, I figured they must be the "cockles". The fact that another type of valve is called a "stopcock" enhanced this impression for me.
A quick Google search indicates that even professional etymologists have trouble figuring out where this one came from, so my guess is probably at least as accurate as any other. :)
OK so they warm the valves of my heart. A little more research comes up with this;
Parsons Bottled Pickled Shellfish
Parsons as a company have been producing Bottled Pickled Cockles and Mussels for over 50 years with a very high reputation for these particular products and the company also has the distinction of being the only British manufacturer of these shellfish products.
Both Cockles and Mussels are available in three different jar sizes, 155g, 280g and the 2.25lt catering size. The 155g size is widely sold through the snack trade and is easily recognised by the use of a unique proprietary moulded glass jar. This size and the larger 280g jar is also available through the supermarket and grocery trade alike.
Both 155g and 280g sizes are available in cases of 12 jars in a shrinkwrapped tray, and the 2.25lt in a shrinkwrapped case of 4.
I still don't know what it is but don't think warm pickled cockles belong in anyone's heart. And if anyones really interested here's the URL.

Other things have been called clams but we ain't gonna go there. But according to the post from Stormwind Wikipedia has the following, "The common English phrase "it warms the cockles of my heart", is used to mean that a feeling of deep-seated contentment has been generated.
Differing derivations of this phrase have been proposed, either directly from the perceived heart-shape of a cockleshell, or indirectly (the scientific name for the type genus of the family is Cardium, from the Latin for heart), or from the Latin diminutive of the word heart, corculum. Another proposed derivation is from the Latin for the ventricles of the heart, cochleae cordis, where the second word is an inflected form of cor, heart, while cochlea is the Latin for snail."
Now we all know more about the damm shellfish that we wanted.
Well, to be fair, wether you "warm the cockles of the heart" of if you "warm the clam of the crotch", I'm fairly certain you will end up with a feeling of deep-deated contendment in both cases.
Wondered if the cats had revolted and taken care of you once and for all. Guess not. The rat brigade had a go at it instead. :-) Something is wrong here, you have cats and squirrels are messing with you? Need to get a better brand of cat! :-D
Awesome - I am so glad you are liking it - the readers here love to chat about and so far things are going well .. :D think of it as a storta a IM by comment thing LOL :D
Cent, I still wait for Lynn's child to appear sometime in the future. I didn't forget about the egg. <there, I said it, it was driving me nuts thinking about what happened to it and who knew what it was capable of doing>
Ah, but who gets to be the father ?
After all, a lot of people stand to gain from this
- Decimus ? Definately something he'd do.
- Maybe Setorius "The Archpriest of the Church of Purity" ?
- Lets not forget Aeneas still have some local connections.
- Tokyo Rose usually have her nose where it doesn't belong as well.
- And lets not forget Centcomm, having her own Taylor baby could be useful for her.
I'm . . . honestly not sure why this is even on anyone's mind any more, or why Cent's going "tee hee" like a little silly tease.
During the relevant sequence, it's explicitly indicated that the auto-doc initiated the sampling process ("retrieving ovum sample 1 of 20"), and Julia overrode the auto-doc and canceled the process, which produced the response "ovum retrieval aborted".
(On top of that, while it's not directly stated in the comic, auto-docs have a self-cleaning procedure; body tissues or fluids that aren't sealed as samples are completely destroyed as part of said procedure.)
Let's be totally clear:
NO OVA WERE EVER REMOVED FROM LYNN TAYLOR. NO ONE HAS POSSESSION OF LYNN TAYLOR'S OVA OTHER THAN LYNN TAYLOR HERSELF.
If we ever move the storyline far enough into the future to be showing any kids of Lynn's, they'll be her actual natural-born kids.
So, let's do some anthropologic research here: is *this* the historical moment where Lynn's ova were first immortalised by invoking the Streisand Effect?... :-P
idk i guess there might eg something else going on under the surface but i feel liek they shoulda at least kept the android more on the prince's "side" even only on a technicallity otherwise this seems like he relly doesnt have much of a power base to throw around. idk maybe he has more supporters in other area liek the senate or something and they just havnent been shown
...and Lynn is only worried about being in trouble ... yeah she deserves that medal...!!!
Local Artist? Where would I find someone like this? 2000 miles is not local anymore, is it? :D *hugs*
Hehe a medal for Lynn I think she will settle for being alive :D
yeah 2000 miles is local GAH!

And there are some theories where the saying might have originated.

[The squirrels ate my internet for 3 days. Little fuzzy tailed rats!]
Certainly, it would melt the heart of any coldhearted diplomat any day of the week.
I'm running a gericatric ward at the moment. Or a kitty hospice!
I'm dreaming of new kittens, but this time there is a 'moral dilemma' involved.
There's a very real chance they would live longer than me!

We are Mostly Harmless... Watch out for Sheela though. She nibbles on toes. :-)
