If you knew nothing of the mountain you were being handed over to, wouldn't you be nervous too, jamie? I mean, look at the size difference between the two of them. He is at least a foot taller than she is, and twice as wide. And NONE of it seems to be fat.
So, that is how she and Maxus met - I hope she got a positive surprise (and I hope that is not how her spine got injured - or whatever it was that she needs the frame...)
I think Maxus would endure torture before he would knowingly harm a woman, especially a slave that had little say in the matter.
Now, what would (or did) Maxus do if faced with a female gladiator? :-) Would he want to treat her as a woman or as the warrior she wants to be? No matter how it came out, I would NOT want to be the 'master' that pushed that circumstance upon Maxus. I doubt he would forget and paybacks are a 'bitch'. :-)
A female gladiator would expect to be treated like a warrior, and certainly wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of any misplaced chivalry.
Maxus's protective impulse is less specifically directed towards women and more directed towards those weaker than he is, which admittedly covers a pretty damn wide range. :D
Somehow, that doesn't surprise me, Rose. Yeah, he is a guardian, a protector... not a murderous mass of muscles.
As for who he protects, Rose... There are HORSES that are weaker than Maxus is! Nevermind most of humanity. :-D So that umbrella of protection has a WIDE spread, I would say. :-D
Trust YOU?!? The EVIL one?!? Arrrgggggghhhh... We are SO doomed! :-D CentComm probably is going to open up with the story and then switch to another storyline to TORMENT us all! :-D
The color shift was actually Roses Idea. doing these in kinda a sepia - tin-type like almost it was very intresting shooting these and time consuming ;D
Im glad they came out so well :D
We went back and forth a little bit on the sepia tone. Primarily the shadows. Normal lighting casts shadows that are just too subtle in the sepia look--the first couple test shots looked kind of flat due to it. Finding the right lighting setup that could get good shadow contrast without going straight into "film noir" territory took a little while, but frankly, I'm afraid my writing seriously falls short compared to Cent's art on this sequence. It's just that damn good.
Irene: "It certainly did not pan out as I expected. Young Maxus had taken up yodeling as a hobby and had become obsessed with it. I mean continual practice. At all hours. The other gladiators were using it as an excuse to avoid meeting him in the arena, and his own Ludus was about to revolt. The owner needed someone to be his... captive audience. Honestly, he's amazing. I don't know why nobody else wants to hear him!"
(Lynn is at this point staring at Irene, mouth agape)
Acantha: "What's wrong, Lynn? Wait, what did you THINK I had the music cranked up last night for?"
I couldn't resist. That's been in my head since sunday night >.>
.. well, more than her master bargained for, if we have to be precise.
Did you know It's a British punk rock band?
So, that is how she and Maxus met - I hope she got a positive surprise (and I hope that is not how her spine got injured - or whatever it was that she needs the frame...)
I wonder what that auction sign says...
So, a positive surprise for Irene.
...and? What does the auction sign say? We can only see part of it, so too much is hidden to get the meaning...
PS: Acantha really looks good here. She is practically beaming. It really seems she enjoyed the sleepover...
with some silly sayings and things :D
Im really pleased with the way that acantha came out - she does look really happy :D
...and I am glad she has a friend now - and a "family" that cares for her...

Second part.. it all depends on her.

Don't be TOO long rolling out the back story, or we may expire from lack of breathing. :-D
I am ....UNSUPRISED. The man knows hwo to HURT the human body wayyyy to well without killing to have just been a soldier
I do read the cast info
Im glad they came out so well :D
So thank you for making it look so good, CentComm. :-)
