I'm sure, CentComm. Maxus couldn't care LESS about that deposit!!!
I'm not sure that WALL is still going to be there. I'm thinking he is going to keep pushing that guy (well his BODY at least) until it comes out the other side of the wall. And yes, I think it is a seriously thick wall, but Maxus is even MORE seriously pissed! :-D
In panel 3: Are those blood veins showing by the right temple and eyebrow?
BTW: In the bottom panel I thought it looked like Maxus was using his thumb and a finger to poke his eyes out (simultaneous with slamming his head to the wall). But your comments have me suspect otherwise.
I agree mjkj, way too quick a death for that sleazeball. At least he is gone and done though. Which is a good thing in everyone's book (except his and he doesn't COUNT). :-D
Torture is a sickening and depraved thing performed by cowards, creeps and other nutjobs. I'd hope Maxus is above torture because if he isn't then New Rome is just that much more screwed with him as one of the people in charge.
Maxus didn't have much of an opinion one way or another on torture right up until this day in his life. He certainly doesn't condone it now. That said, he does make a distinction between "torture" and "punishment".
The longer you draw out your revenge, the greater the chance of something happening and they'll get away and escape.
"A swift and immediate death is never too good for your enemies. You can celebrate after you're sure they're dead and the bodies cremated."
Now that's what I call an impact when a guys skull is crushed with such force that blood sprays out of his eye sockets, nose and mouth. Too bad it was over so quickly; he needed to suffer more for what he'd done to that poor woman.
Since nobody else has commented on it, I guess I will.
In the last panel, Maxus is really moving. He has straightened the guy up, slammed him into the wall so quickly that the knife the guy was using on Irene is left hanging in mid-air. "Maxus gets shit done", indeed Rose! :-)
So Maxus went into a knife fight with just his hands and won it. Hands down. :-D
pretty much although im not sure the guy could have won with a dinky little knife like that .. and yes it was literally over before the guy realized he was under attack
To be fair, the guy is by no means a small foe.
And the knife is plenty big to deal huge damage.
So, if he *had* noticed he was under attack, he could probably have given a pretty good account of himself. But even so, I doubt he would ever have won over a rage fueled Maxus.
It's probably better for him to go down quickly.
Though I bet he would have disagreed.
Have a feeling Maxus may end up with a page fro the ancient Afghans book on the care and keeping of prisoners for fun and profit. They played Polo with the prisoners, or rather they played Polo using the prisoners for the ball.
Now comes the question, Since they are both owned by someone and fighting was usually looked down on outside of the ring. It would seem that Maxus would get in deep doo-doo over killing him even after what he did to Irene.
Well, since Maxus was a hot commodity (having just defeated the reigning champion) and his 'rival' was kind of a has been highlander. Maxus MIGHT get away with it. Penalized for it, some privileges taken away or something, but nothing major.
I guess we will have to wait and see. But I know that Maxus does NOT regret his actions, not in the LEAST. His regret is that Irene suffered because of jealousy against HIM.
Sorry for the late comment. While many fellow posters wanted Irene's attacker to suffer as much, or even MORE, than she did, I feel that Maxus did the best thing possible.
He eliminated the vermin.
He did not pull the wings off of the fly, he did not burn the ant with a magnifying glass, he whacked the bug with a flyswatter and killed it instantly. Maxus is ABOVE that shit.
If he had stooped to that level, he would be no better than the pond-scum that gladiator was, and Prince Douche IS.

When he beat the sh$T out of DEci he was Under firm emotional control....

[On a side note:
About Acantha;
She thinks this is a "great story".
And at breakfast too.]
Dropping rocks from orbit is about the only SAFE way to deal with Maxus, I think. :-D
Well for me that was way too fast. How he hurt Irene that instant death is too good and too fast for him...
or more likely he just got that hacked off and killed him outright.
"A swift and immediate death is never too good for your enemies. You can celebrate after you're sure they're dead and the bodies cremated."
It's deal with, and no more danger for her.
Revenge is the death of the soul of the one taking revenge.

... after all, if you hit hard enough, you only have to hit once !
Very awesome page!!

"Knuckles up."
*Wap.*
"Consider yourself punished, now don't do this again."
