I like the black and gray colors a lot. Its very effective for a flash back sequence, but if you ever get an itch to do another urban Sci Fi comic, using this pallet would be neat. It reminds me of the old Twilight Zone/Outer Limits shows.
interesting :D The process for the sepia is slower than standard renders and uses a very stark lighting source :D but yeah we wanted it to look "old" :D
I would have thought they would have done a genetic test to ensure against that, Rash. However, Douchebag sure seems DIFFERENT than the rest of the family.
and *hands Centy a poster* Genetic Screening and PRevention Only YOU *shows centy pointsing at the reader* Can prevent This *and Under that is a picture of Decius* And under that picture the words* "HAve your unborn child genetically screened today!!"
Alternatively, Maxus is free, and she isn't - But - The prince decides Maxus owns her.
So technically, she wouldn't be free (she'd be owned by Maxus), but in actual day-to-day, she is, because Maxus deems it so.
In return, the Prince got himself a new bodyguard / general / guard, in Maxus, as payment for the favors he need to pull to get his hands on Luna tech.
ie. Maxus is free and owns himself, but works for the city state to pay off her medical items.
One small detail that I worked in can be found in the names. Slaves who are born into slavery don't have surnames of their own; it's traditional for a newly-freed slave to take a surname that honors the person who manumitted them.
Oh cool, Rose. I had heard about that before, but didn't even THINK about where Maxus' last name would have came from. Thank you for bringing that point up. :-)
Absolutely, CentComm. I was just commenting on her condition at the moment. I mean Irene is horribly injured. All the more-so because of the desecration of the beauty she possessed.
The beauty of Irene's spirit is undiminshed. Lynn is benefiting from that now. :-)
...and poor Irene. You are right, she was quite beautiful - and now after recovering she still is - even with the scars. And I believe Maxus' care took care of the emotional scars.
I am glad for Maxus' selflessness to have Irene treated the best way possible - I think the reason Irene lives where she does now is to remove her from the place of her suffering as well as to take her out of the picture...
We all are looking forward to the next update! :-D
And CentComm teases us and torments us by making us wait and wait and wait! :-)
Maxus and Irene are both exceptional people. I'm glad they found each other and still have each other, despite the trials. I'm also glad that Acantha fell into the sphere of influence. They are the family that she needs (along with that crazy 'uncle', Aeneas :-D). And now Lynn is added to that family as the sister. :-)
Thank you so much for the compliment :D
You really have spoiled us readers a lot. :)
A Prince uses his rank and political weight to get it done.
I'm guessing, that despite not asking for freedom for her, she got it anyways ?

I wonder how Lynn is taking the story...
