This week is basically hiatus while Cent stops being all "squee comicon!" and puts nose back to grindstone. We return to your regularly scheduled Datachasers next week. (But Luna Star is still updating, since we have an actual buffer on it.)

I thought the building in panel one was from the comic because of it's design. LOL.

Looks fun. Never been to a con.
Stormwind13 9th Jun 2014, 11:54 PM edit delete reply

You should try to get to one sometime, plymayer. They can be a great deal of fun. Everyone (well except the murderous psychopaths - looking at YOU Prince Douchebag) should try to get to a Con. Start small with a 'local' Con and work your way up to a bigger Con (though I can't recommend San Diego Comic Con - It is just TOO big, pushing 150K attendees).
Centcomm 10th Jun 2014, 2:02 PM edit delete reply

yee gods.. - yeah this comicon was almost more than I could handle :D but worth every min :D
cattservant 9th Jun 2014, 11:16 PM edit delete reply

Strength in numbers!
Centcomm 10th Jun 2014, 2:02 PM edit delete reply

you betcha :D
Stormwind13 10th Jun 2014, 3:34 PM edit delete reply

And there definitely are NUMBERS, Cat. I've heard 50,000 plus already from Phoenix Comicon. :-)
Centcomm 12th Jun 2014, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

final numbers .. around 70 thousand holy hanna thats a lot of peeps
StarkT2K 10th Jun 2014, 12:08 AM edit delete reply
I was working there... Would have been cool to meet you but with 70,000 people there it would have been hard to find you. Hope you enjoyed the con.
Centcomm 10th Jun 2014, 2:03 PM edit delete reply

oh what booth? maybe we met anyway - on saterday I was wearing a Centcomm Shirt :D
StarkT2K 15th Jun 2014, 10:56 AM edit delete reply
I wasn't working a booth, I was working guest relations. I was roaming the floor in the 2000 isles checking on the comic guests and escorting guests to panels.
Centcomm 15th Jun 2014, 11:36 AM edit delete reply

ah - where that was i have no idea - i only remember a few land marks .. like the giant effing balrog .. and the giant Dragon Skull and the Stormtrooper area...
mjkj 10th Jun 2014, 2:04 AM edit delete reply

Wow, looks great...

*happy for you*
Centcomm 10th Jun 2014, 2:01 PM edit delete reply

thank you - it was a long long happy 4 days :D
Sheela 12th Jun 2014, 10:09 AM edit delete reply

Y'know, now we need a rendering of Centcomm running around in circles and Rose telling Dolly that "Her CPU cycles are all bound up with obsessing over cosplay pictures for some odd reason." :D
JacobJSebastian 10th Jun 2014, 2:53 AM edit delete reply

Honestly, while I am considering going to the next PCC, I am still hesitant about it. It will be EXPENSIVE. and CROWDED. I like DarkCon. Small, intimate, you can actually TALK to the celebrity guests. The 'Commercial Cons' may be fun, but... *shrug* if I have the money, I will try to go next year.
JacobJSebastian 10th Jun 2014, 2:56 AM edit delete reply

Maybe by then I will have a greenscreen backdrop for my Nikon. :) Make hero shots for costumers! "ok, you want a Gotham city street in the background? no problem, Harley. Steampunk room behind you? We have 4 to choose from, Count Gearhat." Etc, etc, etc...
The_Leaking_Pen 10th Jun 2014, 1:24 PM edit delete reply
Definitely, there were a few booths that had props set up for that, I always thought a green screen would be better. A friend and I were talking about doing that years ago, have a decent printer and computer there, have some props (we were aiming star wars, so we were talking about robes and lightsabers, and be able to photoshop in the lightsaber effect while they waited) Set up with quick costumes people can use, a backdrop, photos made while they wait, emailed and or printed. I think you'd be very very very popular.
Stormwind13 10th Jun 2014, 3:42 PM edit delete reply

That sounds interesting, Jacob. If the cost wasn't too high, I think you could make a killing at it. Especially at a big Con like Phoenix Comicon.

Provided you had a noticeable location for your 'booth'. Or had good marketing to let people know where you were set-up. If either of those were true, you should have steady business the entire weekend, I would think. :-)
KarToon12 10th Jun 2014, 6:24 AM edit delete reply

Glad you had a fun time; those costumes are amazing! :D
Centcomm 10th Jun 2014, 2:01 PM edit delete reply

and this is only a small small part of the constumes there :D
Stormwind13 10th Jun 2014, 3:38 PM edit delete reply

Costumes are probably my favorite part of most conventions. :-) Some of the people are INSANE with what they do with their costumes.
The_Leaking_Pen 10th Jun 2014, 1:22 PM edit delete reply
Hey Centcomm we met at the marketing panel! I registered with Fury, so it should show my name now!
Centcomm 10th Jun 2014, 2:00 PM edit delete reply

Oh yay! It was very nice to meet you there :D it was a awesome con :D
Draginbeard 10th Jun 2014, 11:14 PM edit delete reply

Oh yeah, con was awesome this year. Got to meet a lot of great people, including Jim Butcher and Stan Lee! I had a bunch of stuff signed, played a couple games at the Hyatt, and caught the Jay and Silent Bob show Saturday night. It was definitely crowded, but there was stuff going on all over, and even going all 4 days, there wasnt time enough to see it all! Im sorry we didnt catch up with you, but hopfully next year, yeah?
Centcomm 11th Jun 2014, 2:05 AM edit delete reply

Hey I looked for you too :D I spent a lot of time in expo hall and the panels :D lotta good info :D
'

Any chance we can get full-size versions of those pictures?
Centcomm 11th Jun 2014, 11:08 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm 12th Jun 2014, 4:21 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 12th Jun 2014, 11:57 PM edit delete reply

highlander55 14th Jun 2014, 11:58 AM edit delete reply

5 Questions. I don't remember seeing a question time block listed.
Centcomm 14th Jun 2014, 2:29 PM edit delete reply

you can send them in anytime - they will post proably in order of recieved .. and we may do this for a while ( in place of the random art stuff.. )
Johninaustin 12th Jun 2014, 6:32 PM edit delete reply
So Cent, what costume did you wear?
Centcomm 14th Jun 2014, 2:30 PM edit delete reply

I was wearing FUCK im hot - and there are too many people normal clothing because its comfy costume :D
Sheela 14th Jun 2014, 5:47 PM edit delete reply

Dang, you were wearing the "I'm pretending to be normal" costume too ?

I hear that one is really popular these days. :)
Stormwind13 14th Jun 2014, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

Sheela, sounds like she was wearing - "I only cosplay as an adult" costume. :-D

My favorite kind of costume (for myself). For those with the talent and desire, I love to see the costumes they come up with. :-)
Centcomm 15th Jun 2014, 11:35 AM edit delete reply

dont get me wrong - I can do some killer costumes and have - but this time just didnt have the urge - and was enjoying the company I was keeping :D
