Is it me or is there binary sneaking in under their words in some of the speech balloons? Has that been going on all along?
Centcomm 3rd Jul 2014, 10:05 PM edit delete reply

Those Balloons indicate "Speed-speak" Humans cant perceive it or understand it as its a compressed form of language - the Binary in the balloons is the indicator that they are using it.

We have been using this convention for well on seven years now :D
plymayer 3rd Jul 2014, 11:37 PM edit delete reply

Figured it was something like that. Just wondering.
DizzasterJuice 3rd Jul 2014, 10:09 PM edit delete reply

I just noticed it too.
edit: But I wouldn't have noticed before. My eyesight went to shit for awhile but it's back to normal now. (diabetes)
Centcomm 3rd Jul 2014, 10:22 PM edit delete reply

Ouch sorry to hear that. im glad its back to normal .. it is isnt it?
DizzasterJuice 3rd Jul 2014, 10:32 PM edit delete reply

Yup, I'm all good now. Eyesight is back to normal and blood pressure down to 98/60. Now I have to go back and fix a bunch of my pages from chapter 1 that now look like shit. I seriously didn't know how bad they looked when I posted them. lol
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 8:56 AM edit delete reply

eeek glad your ok now .. :D
mjkj 3rd Jul 2014, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

Wow, that is quite fast :D

I wonder if Dolly is surveying or monitoring the inside of the vehicle so they can check and see what they did later.

Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 8:58 AM edit delete reply

Nope she doesn't really care at this point. .. Shes half expecting trouble.
Sheela 4th Jul 2014, 10:19 PM edit delete reply

Still, a nice recording of the interior would never hurt .. might be useful for a bit of blackmail some day.
cattservant 3rd Jul 2014, 11:38 PM edit delete reply

Better to plan
and not need to...
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 8:58 AM edit delete reply

exacttly :D
Rashala 3rd Jul 2014, 11:50 PM edit delete reply

Wow..... you'd think Nova roma customs guys would sniff underwear FASTER than this

Sheela 4th Jul 2014, 10:20 PM edit delete reply

Nah, they take their sweet time about it.
Also, masturbating in power armor has it's own risks, so you better be careful .. or else !

And now we get to find out how much information (and how accurate) has been sold to Nova Roma concerning Dolly. She tore through Dari in Breakers (starting with The dance - 9th July 2012) plus discussed Black Angels WITH a Black Angel (on page Black Angel - 29 July 2012) without clearing the room? With Breaker, Zophia and who knows who else possibly in range to 'spy' on that conversation.

Dolly then proceeded to leak all sorts of classified information to Breaker (starting with What about human?) in which she tells Breaker that she works for the Taylors!!! I mean if Breaker sold that info (or someone else heard it and did) Dolly and CeCi aren't leaving the landing zone alive and free!

Finally Dolly (and CeCi) turned around and DESTROYED four gutters in a street fight (starting with Or the hard option - 15 April 2013). It didn't last too long, but in a place like Joleet, I expect it created some buzz. Just like the shootout at the OK Corral did in its day.

And we KNOW there were witnesses to both fights (Breakers had some folks in it for sure and you can see at least one person in the background of the street fight). So, how much 'proceeded' Dolly's arrival to Nova Roma? How accurate is the information (judging by something like the OK Corral, probably not totally)? And how will Nova Roma's guards react to what information they have received?

So far, Nova Roma has proven that they are superior in keeping tabs on the other side. If that trend continues, Dolly and CeCi are doomed.

Whatever source leaked Lynn's flight plan should know that Dolly is gone (CentComm didn't put a Dolly doll decoy) up. And now a dangerous Dolores shows up in Nova Roma, without previous history (no other bounties turned in) and no one in the biz recognizes... Yeah, color me suspicious. And I don't think I'm anywhere near as suspicious as Nova Roma probably is of 'strangers'. :-D
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 9:04 AM edit delete reply

Breaker wrote her off as slightly crazy. but cute and sexy. Zophia doesnt really give a damn Beakers is a neutral ground. and a lot of wasters would stop coming if Breaker sold out or allowed to sell out. So nothing was sold to roma from them :D
Stormwind13 4th Jul 2014, 10:51 AM edit delete reply

Kind of figured Breaker wouldn't be spilling the beans. Doubted Zophia would either, doesn't seem the type.

I guarantee though there are people that frequent Breaker's that would sell their mother's last working kidney for some quick cash. :-D Now whether they were there, and had assets in place to pick up the information Dolly was spilling or not, is the question.

I would be truly shocked if NO information beat Dolly to Nova Roma though. Her and CeCi made too big a splash in Joleet to not have something reported down the line. :-)

He!!, ROTTER probably contacted them, once Dolly bagged Dari. Since she had to go there to collect, it might bring him some credits with very little effort on his part. :-)
Tokyo Rose 5th Jul 2014, 3:30 PM edit delete reply

Keep in mind that part of the conversation about Black Angels was also done in speed-speak. No one in the room could have intercepted it.
Stormwind13 5th Jul 2014, 3:40 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, but CeCi identified the weapon system and Dolly was horrified and surprised to discover that CeCi was "weaponized". And anyone still in the area knows that SOMETHING weird happened, no weapons were fired, but the cute little android got a burn on her hand?!?

If information got to Nova Roma that the android was weaponized, she would probably be VAPORIZED upon landing. And if Kali or Maxus heard that the android was burned without being in the fight, I think they would suspect her of having concealed weapons.
Tokyo Rose 5th Jul 2014, 3:51 PM edit delete reply

Who's going to care? There are a THOUSAND scenarios like that playing out every day in the Wastelands. Bar fights ranging from "two people punching each other" up to "gang war" happen so frequently that entrepreneurs gave up on televising them on a pay-per-view channel. Weird weapons and oddly modified androids/humans pop up faster than dodgy apps on smartphones. The informational density becomes impossible to manage. Nova Roma doesn't have that extensive an intelligence network and they're rather arrogant; what they have, they focus on higher-level information, not "a couple people killed some Gutters in a nowhere town in the Wastes".
Stormwind13 5th Jul 2014, 5:53 PM edit delete reply

I know that if I was Nova Roma, I would make it known that I would like to know of new people heading into my areas. You don't have agents, but make all the people already in place into 'possible' agents. I would be doing it, knowing that CentComm MIGHT try some type of operation. And that might get me warning of the operation.
Draginbeard 4th Jul 2014, 6:36 AM edit delete reply

I do like the compressed comm stream. But I expect its not too difficult to intercept, depending on the available tech level, and security protocols of the location they are using it in.
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 9:35 AM edit delete reply

no its not hard to intercept and decode. however you have to know its there to do anything like that and most humans cant hear it.. :D
Draginbeard 4th Jul 2014, 6:28 PM edit delete reply

Ah but humans do tend to be pretty imaginative when it comes creating tools, and means to expand on their range of senses, especially the more paranoid types.

But yeah, they would have to know to listen for it, and probably only the more sensitive areas would have that kind of security measure in place.
Sheela 4th Jul 2014, 10:24 PM edit delete reply

EH, I would have a recorder running 24/7, and then decode later.

All sorts of fun stuff to be found like that.
Tokyo Rose 5th Jul 2014, 3:39 PM edit delete reply

That quickly turns into the hacker arms race. Someone comes up with a scanner to pick up and decrypt android speed-speak; the androids come up with a random frequency shift key. Someone comes up with a way to track the frequency; the androids increase their encryption. Every time someone comes up with a way to eavesdrop, someone else comes up with a different way to prevent eavesdropping. Oh, and then the legal arguments come in, with one side screaming about violations of privacy laws and the other side bitching about public security, and so on. It goes 'round and 'round.

For the purposes of this comic, no one short of a city AIS-level entity is ever going to be shown to be capable of even detecting, much less decrypting, speed-speak.
rfaramir 5th Jul 2014, 4:53 PM edit delete reply
"All but your four fastest ships, you mean."

The nice cat girl noticed the speed-speak, though she couldn't comprehend it.
Some Ed 4th Jun 2017, 1:14 PM edit delete reply
I'm not sure why android speed speak wouldn't be harder to crack (you say decrypt, but that term applies to both legitimate and illegitimate decoding) than you suggest. I mean, even if quantum computing is a readily available thing, that doesn't make strong encryption impossible, it just raises the bar immensely.

But I'd guess that in this world, quantum computing is something that only the AISs can control to a sufficient extent to be readily usable for this. Which would explain only them being able to crack speed speak not intended for them: strong encryption that would be proof against quantum computers would require quantum computers to both encrypt and decrypt, as well as a lot more bandwidth to transmit.

I understand the arms race with cryptology today, but in another thousand years? Moore's law will have been completely forgotten. Sure, there will still be advances in computing made from year to year, but nothing like the groundbreaking advances we saw while Moore's law was still in operation.
jamie59 4th Jul 2014, 8:16 AM edit delete reply

So Ceci has fully intergrated & knows exactly what she can do.
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 9:36 AM edit delete reply

More or less.. Her combat protocols are all online.
Sheela 4th Jul 2014, 10:25 PM edit delete reply

She probably still have some hidden files that are still locked.

But yeah, it seems she and WATCHDOG have made peace with one another.
cattservant 4th Jul 2014, 9:09 AM edit delete reply

RE: "Acid Test".
As long as it's not brown...
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 9:36 AM edit delete reply

hahah !
jamie59 4th Jul 2014, 9:50 AM edit delete reply

This is a long way from Woodstock.
cattservant 4th Jul 2014, 10:42 AM edit delete reply

Old Max Yasgur bought the farm long ago!
Stormwind13 4th Jul 2014, 10:44 AM edit delete reply

Actually jamie it isn't THAT far. It is only about 1,100 kilometers (660 miles) from Bethel, NY to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (Canada). :-D That is a bit over 4 hours flight time for Dolly.
KarToon12 4th Jul 2014, 2:18 PM edit delete reply

Forgot to say this last time; besides Dolly in glasses, I like Ceci with a pony tail. I think it suits her. :)
Centcomm 4th Jul 2014, 7:01 PM edit delete reply

:D Dolly does look pretty kick butt in them and Yes The Pony just screams "Ceci" :D
Stormwind13 4th Jul 2014, 8:43 PM edit delete reply

A pony that screams CeCi? :-D

I agree with KarToon though, it really looks good on CeCi. :-)
Sheela 4th Jul 2014, 10:36 PM edit delete reply

What, like .. a pink pony ?

Like thi- OMFG !!! o.O
velvetsanity 5th Jul 2014, 4:31 AM edit delete reply

That particular fanfic and any stories or artwork related to or derived from it do not exist. (They're no more fit for sapient consumption than Highlander 2)
Stormwind13 5th Jul 2014, 6:13 AM edit delete reply

So velvet, what does that say about one puppy, since she apparently knows something about it? :-D
Sheela 5th Jul 2014, 6:13 AM edit delete reply

Aw, but she finally uses her Plasma Caster Mark III, and everything, while in pony mode ... it has great effects !

... what if it was "Pony vs. Douchebag" ... still wouldn't read it then ?
Centcomm 5th Jul 2014, 10:05 AM edit delete reply

EEE-OW given I know very little about the whole Pony thing.. :P
CyberSkull 5th Jul 2014, 1:13 AM edit delete reply

Two things a wastelander never gives up: Their guns and their pervert-bot.
Sheela 5th Jul 2014, 2:53 AM edit delete reply

Well, in this case, her perv-bot comes equipped with a Mark III Plasma Caster.

Saves space it does, when you combine things like that. :)
Stormwind13 5th Jul 2014, 6:11 AM edit delete reply

Normally true, CyberSkull; however, in this case Dolly isn't concerned about it. She plans on getting weapons from the guards if needed. :-D

...after a long slumber, the Boxed Set returns soon. Glad to see you're still going strong here!
