Ceci? take unnecessary risks? NOOOOOO.... she would NEVER do THAT... Whoops. sorry about spraying the sarcasm everywhere.
Haegan2005 26th Aug 2014, 9:28 PM edit delete reply

It's bad when Ceci is told to do something and all I can do is laugh...
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

Oh?
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

heh it all depends on the situatuion :P
jamie59 26th Aug 2014, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Love the public & private conversations.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

Yep ;D its a talent :D
Stormwind13 27th Aug 2014, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

I thought the page might be labeled LAYERS. :-) The weaving of their speech (the layers) is very well done.
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 11:36 AM edit delete reply

Rose did a fantastic job with that.
cattservant 26th Aug 2014, 9:19 PM edit delete reply

Everything is going over MS. Badlucks head!
[While she still has it.]
Sheela 26th Aug 2014, 11:17 PM edit delete reply

Well, better than it goes *through* her head, then we'd just get splattered brains all over the place!
Fairportfan 26th Aug 2014, 11:39 PM edit delete reply

No we wouldn't. Can't splatter what's not there in any significant quantity.
highlander55 27th Aug 2014, 4:34 AM edit delete reply

I don't know Cat. Her look on the last page seems to be recognition of the hi speed speak and may have leverage later to bring up with it. She's unlucky but not stupid to not hear the squeaks.
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 6:06 AM edit delete reply

The squeeks lies outside human hearing, but with augmentations, that might be out the door too.
Kitty 28th Aug 2014, 5:59 PM edit delete reply
I read her expression more as "Damn, this hurts!" I think a lot of it is just the damaged to her face -- broken jaw, bruises, etc. Dolly packs a hell of a punch!
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:24 AM edit delete reply

The Speed speak would pretty much be ignorable to a normal human. and only a few humans can actually hear the noise.
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 10:09 AM edit delete reply

Wouldn't it be possible to make a device that can record and recognise android speed speak, and then replay it at normal speed later ? Or perhaps even an augmentation of some sort ?

You'd think a guard would be outfitted with something like that, at least.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 10:24 AM edit delete reply

it is possable - but even then they need the code to break it down - Its not just sped up its also compressed.
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 11:10 AM edit delete reply

Fair enough, but just knowing someone is talking behind your back is often enough to trigger a red flag.

And I'm also sure most places have a mainframe capable of cracking the code fairly quickly, should it be considered important enough.
Of course, having a defect AIS, New Rome might not have that ability.
mjkj 27th Aug 2014, 1:26 PM edit delete reply

So, it is basically like wifi or blootooth only sound based in the ultra-sound range well above 20 kHz...

...and it is not speech but data packages they send.

...and since cat-girl could hear it it must be below 80 kHz if her hearing is like real cats'.

Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 2:29 PM edit delete reply

yep you got it . :D Yes between that range yes :D

and some humans " can " hear it..sometimes.
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 6:29 PM edit delete reply

Obviously, other androids will be able to hear it too.
Even if they can't crack the code, that's still interesting.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 7:49 PM edit delete reply

yes it would be .. if there were any around :D
Sheela 28th Aug 2014, 3:44 AM edit delete reply

Oh, I'm sure a few will pop up at the most inconvenient of time .. plus the Cassians.
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 2:49 PM edit delete reply

LOL Sheela, sheela LOL
mjkj 28th Aug 2014, 2:43 PM edit delete reply

If some (unaltered) humans can hear it then it must be closer to 20 kHz...
Don B. 28th Aug 2014, 6:12 PM edit delete reply
Thing is, they'll have to be careful about using this form of communication. Where they are, getting caught using it could be problematic at best. Dolly is supposed to be human and I don't think humans are capable of using it even if they can detect it.
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 8:20 PM edit delete reply

Correct Don.. :D
Timotheus 26th Aug 2014, 11:29 PM edit delete reply

Strangely enough, while I have no qualms about bad things happening to her, I hope our merry little merc survives this tale to continue suffering for her bad attitude. I really don't want to see her killed.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:25 AM edit delete reply

HAH a single vote for Dari's survival :D
velvetsanity 28th Aug 2014, 8:47 AM edit delete reply

Only for the purpose of extending her suffering, apparently
highlander55 27th Aug 2014, 1:37 PM edit delete reply

She would be lucky if she is sent to the Breeding farm!
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 11:36 AM edit delete reply

LOL .. poor Dari..
Stormwind13 28th Aug 2014, 1:54 PM edit delete reply

Really highlander? Would YOU want to perpetuate Dari's genes? I mean, that bad luck could be genetic. :-D
highlander55 28th Aug 2014, 5:34 PM edit delete reply

Selective is the word of the day Stormwind13. LOL
Draginbeard 26th Aug 2014, 11:35 PM edit delete reply

The look on Dari's face in that last panel...I think she is starting to pick up on something. As someone who has to eek out a living on her grit and wits, I wouldn't count her out just yet.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:25 AM edit delete reply

Dari is beginning to realize that the two of these may be more than they seem :P
Stormwind13 27th Aug 2014, 5:58 PM edit delete reply

I just had a thought (dangerous I know).

Dolly has a completely different speech pattern here than she did in Breakers. So Dari may be trying to figure out how see can use/expose Dolly's subterfuge to her advantage.

Dari isn't real bright (smarting off to Dolly was NOT healthy at all), but she has a CUNNING about her, I think.
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 6:30 PM edit delete reply

I dunno, Dari doesn't seem to be the sharpest spoon in the drawer.
Stormwind13 27th Aug 2014, 7:37 PM edit delete reply

Spoons aren't normally meant to be sharp, Sheela. :-D
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 7:50 PM edit delete reply

she may not be " learned " but she is smart.
Sheela 28th Aug 2014, 3:45 AM edit delete reply

No she isn't.

If she was, she wouldn't be in the situation she is in now.
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 2:48 PM edit delete reply

Ok well shes never matched wits with a AIS - Cent predicted where she would be. more on that later...
Fairportfan 26th Aug 2014, 11:41 PM edit delete reply

"Unnecessary" - that's a scary word.

Using it in this context sorta puts me in mind of battle plans that include the words "probably" or "ought to".
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

Oh yeah :D
Rashala 26th Aug 2014, 11:53 PM edit delete reply

Even in the future still got cornflakes......

and is it just me or does Miss Bad luck look like she is about to try something REALLY Stupid
Draginbeard 27th Aug 2014, 12:39 AM edit delete reply

She might, but Im of the opinion that Dari is a lot tougher than she seems, and smarter too. Not fancy book smart, but more street wise. Out in the waste, she knows her business, but put her in a more civilized setting and she is out of her element.

Im mot going to count her out just yet. Bad guys are just as able getting out of impossible situations as the good guys.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

she very well might .. :D

and yes Dari is tough as boot leather and has the morals of a .. i don't know but she doesn't have much. and there isnt much she wouldn't do to survive :P
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 10:10 AM edit delete reply

The morals of .. a juvenile murder turd that has learned how to climb trees ?
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

pretty much :D
mjkj 26th Aug 2014, 11:56 PM edit delete reply

Nice :D

I do not envy Dari...
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:28 AM edit delete reply

you shouldn't shes got her own road to travel :D
Stormwind13 28th Aug 2014, 1:56 PM edit delete reply

I don't envy Dari either, mjkj.

I don't have a of sympathy for her either though. Dari made her choices... and now she has to live (or probably DIE) with the consequences.
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 2:47 PM edit delete reply

Dieing is easy..
KarToon12 27th Aug 2014, 9:15 AM edit delete reply

Tin can Charlie kind of reminds me of Judge Dredd (in terms of looks). XD
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 9:28 AM edit delete reply

hehe - I was waiting for someone to mention that about the new armor :D
Sheela 27th Aug 2014, 10:11 AM edit delete reply

I thought it looked familiar, just couldn't peg where it came from.
highlander55 27th Aug 2014, 1:39 PM edit delete reply

Great! Now I can't get "ADRIAN" out of my head.
Centcomm 27th Aug 2014, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

LOL thats from Rocky..
highlander55 28th Aug 2014, 4:29 AM edit delete reply

Yep! Still Stallone tho!
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 11:35 AM edit delete reply

I actually did not like the stallone Dredd movies .. I much preferred the remakes ... MUCH better and Dredd kept his helmet ON!

In canon you never ever ever see Dredds face..
highlander55 28th Aug 2014, 5:36 PM edit delete reply

I thought it was lame too. But he was ok in Tango and Cash.
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 8:22 PM edit delete reply

agreed// funny story not sure if its true.. but Stallone wanted to keep the helmet on .. the studio said - no we paid for your face so there..
Haegan2005 27th Aug 2014, 4:59 PM edit delete reply

Anytime someone says something is easy, they are no longer really paying attention to security... Just saying...

I was posting really late last night and had to have been tired to miss that!
Stormwind13 27th Aug 2014, 5:29 PM edit delete reply

Rule 38. Just because it's easy for you doesn't mean it can't be hard on your clients, Haegan? :-)
Haegan2005 27th Aug 2014, 6:06 PM edit delete reply

Point, but i have a feeling that these two devious artists don't work quite that way until small nukes start going off!
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 11:34 AM edit delete reply

muahahah ! :D
Stormwind13 27th Aug 2014, 5:53 PM edit delete reply

Damn, Dolly... Anyone else seeing those shoes in the third panel? Those things may need to be LICENSED as a potentially deadly weapon! :-O
highlander55 28th Aug 2014, 5:39 PM edit delete reply

Sheesh! Gave Dolly a body with everything but the factory and goes fashion plate on us.
Matt Knab 27th Aug 2014, 6:33 PM edit delete reply

Take only necessary risks. Check!
Sheela 28th Aug 2014, 3:46 AM edit delete reply

She's collecting the whole set. :D
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 11:34 AM edit delete reply

the whole set.. theres a whole set?
Centcomm 28th Aug 2014, 11:34 AM edit delete reply

heh - yep :D
notStanley 31st Dec 2015, 4:29 PM edit delete reply
They just had a conversation about Ceci not getting separated from Dolly, and what is the first thing she does? Split the party!

Surely there is terminal in the Air Masters office, or it's waiting room?
