I can imagine that CeCi's voice is still level, no added excitement. She isn't even looking at Dari, but she NAILED Dari's thoughts. So Dari is rather intimidated by it.
I thought Kat was the resident big kitty on the campus of Psycho U. CeCi is the NASTY kitty invading the campus. Unlike Dusty and Kat, CeCi doesn't object to fighting if it is important (as the gutters discovered).
A pink mist would also work, but that big a blast might singe Ceci's hand, even with the protection field. (And, Prince Butthead might claim Ceci as his interior decorator)
Also, that alt. text... It's right up there with "Space is big." :)
I kinda wanted to see Ceci catch the arm with the cast without even looking in her direction and making some comment about her needing a full body cast if she didn't settle her shit.
Proper Decorum? For WHO, ac? :-D I mean, those guards are probably bored. Watching Dari do something stupid and possibly getting to watch a cat fight... Or maybe getting to actually DO something besides stand in the hallway. That would be entertainment to them, I think. :-D
Heh, I can just see it in my mind, Dari trying to mount a grand daring escape, only to get slapped down by one of the guards at the door and the other one one going "HAH, I won the bet - She *did* reach the door!" :D
LOL Leaking. Yeah, Dari is NOT the brightest bulb. If someone as bad-ass as Dolly left Bubblegum to oversee you KNOW that Bubblegum is probably VERY, VERY dangerous. Because Dolly does NOT do things halfway.
I suspect even Dolly underestimates CeCi's combat prowess somewhat.
Nobody but Centcomm really knows what hides inside of CeCi, and a lot of it is probably highly illegal. I doubt she would stop for anything less than a fullblown Terminator style death.
Even if you blew off all her synthetic skin, she would probably still be coming for you!
Another one that fits her like a glove is "Beware the Silly Ones." Just because her actions and words are hilarious doesn't mean she isn't the most dangerous person in the room.
Dari is thinking again. I kinda hope she gets away. She has the makings for a solid recurring, low level baddie.
Ceci seems to be coming into her own more and more. She is showing a better sense of self, and learning just how brutal she needs to be to survive in this world.
Hope she gets over this 'Mommy' phase. It detracts from the growing level maturity she has been making. "Mom' or even 'Mother' reflects her growth better.
I just love the look Ceci gives Dari in the last panel. I do believe that this is the first time I've seen her use that kind of expression. Casually serious is the only way I can think of to describe it but doesn't seem quite right. Suggestions anyone?
Ceci shifts personalities like chambers in a revolver. The personality she presents to the world depends on what aspect of her functions is in ascent at the moment. But they are all Ceci.
Her core personality is still forming around her prime directives, which at the moment are a central core to help and support Dolly complete the mission, a basic morality package that Victoria snuck in, and a mish-mash of bits and pieces of programming from various sources she's either accepted and incorporated or rejected and turned off but are still in her memory. These are in a constant state of being recompiled as new programming and experiences are added to her baseline.
Consider CeCi as a hard drive that is constantly being defragmented and upgraded while it is trying to run programming.
"Mommy" reflects her attitude toward a senior, stable, role model AI that she looks up to, wants to model herself after, is looking to for guidance, etc. etc.
You're seeing something Im not. The only personality I see is the 'innocent child looking for approval.' I keep hearing say things like "is this okay?", and "are you mad at me?" I see her trying hard to be helpful, but also picking up on things (body language, speach, and mannerisms of those around her) she hadnt before.
Left alone, I see her becoming more and more capable, in Dollys presence she seems to revert a little, but the growth is still evident.
She isnt the lost little girl anymore, but then this is my perception of her actions. I dont see any of the other personalities you are catching.
Oh I agree her central personality is growing and maturing as time is passing. That's what I'm referring to as a constant state of recompiling. It's just that when a specific operating mode takes over, say target analysis, then only those personality elements associated with it (or lack of) become dominant for the space of time they are in use until that mode has been fully integrated into Cecis being. So as Ceci discovers new abilities she often acts different when she first uses them.
And I don't think this a very hard and fast rule, just a sometimes thing.
I don't think it's reverting so much as looking to Dolly for guidance because she's so young/inexperienced. Particularly since CentComm set her up to view Dolly as a mother figure, combined with the knowledge that Dolly *has* half a century of real experience. You see it in the army all the time with new privates with their squad leaders. (They don't call their squad leaders "Mommy" of course, but it's a similar relationship.)
Dolly is the alpha wolf, and Ceci is her subordinate, a fresh young pup with training but no experience.
Ceci is such a wonderful and original combination of childlike, brilliant, and badass. Almost no writers could even start to pull that off, but here, it comes across as effortless.
Yep! I'm all up for charades! No more bruising and broken bones for me!
"wow, that was fast!"

Speaking of the stinkeye...
They're both apex predators, but one still have some innocence about it.
(And now that I've given Rashala something to, um, think about . . .)
Also, that alt. text... It's right up there with "Space is big." :)
or something to that effect. :-D
I wonder if the guards have any bets on Dari trying something stupid like that.
Oh wait, they are. Nevermind.
Nobody but Centcomm really knows what hides inside of CeCi, and a lot of it is probably highly illegal. I doubt she would stop for anything less than a fullblown Terminator style death.

Same with Ada, she has the potential to be really dangerous at the tip of a hat, but she's such a sweetie .. and she needs more TeeDee hugs !
Threaten one of her cubs though (and she seems to collect them like some women collect shoes) and RAWR!!! Dolly will tear you in two.

CeCi could do far WORSE than to follow Dolly's lead for sure, velvet.
But Dari's example means getting beaten by Mommy. I suspect Ceci passed on that for a good reason!
