yeah, nothing like sheer raw intimidation!

Yep! I'm all up for charades! No more bruising and broken bones for me!
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2014, 3:03 AM edit delete reply

I can imagine that CeCi's voice is still level, no added excitement. She isn't even looking at Dari, but she NAILED Dari's thoughts. So Dari is rather intimidated by it.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:25 AM edit delete reply

yes that is correct Ceci didn't raise her voice at all .. :D
Sheela 10th Sep 2014, 10:56 AM edit delete reply

"Reality Check for Miss Dari on aisle one, I repeat, Reality Check on ai... ¤"
"wow, that was fast!"
Fairportfan 9th Sep 2014, 9:05 PM edit delete reply

Oh - did you think i was a pushover?

==============

Speaking of the stinkeye...
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

LOL :D
jamie59 9th Sep 2014, 9:18 PM edit delete reply

Just a cat playing with a mouse. And Dari just figgured which one she is.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

thats right .. Ceci is the big kitty on campus :D
Sheela 10th Sep 2014, 11:02 AM edit delete reply

Kitties gets bellyrubs ! :D
Stormwind13 11th Sep 2014, 1:54 PM edit delete reply

I thought Kat was the resident big kitty on the campus of Psycho U. CeCi is the NASTY kitty invading the campus. Unlike Dusty and Kat, CeCi doesn't object to fighting if it is important (as the gutters discovered).
Sheela 11th Sep 2014, 3:00 PM edit delete reply

Kali is more like a stalking panther, while CeCi is the fluffy kitten in your lap, wanting bellyrubs!

They're both apex predators, but one still have some innocence about it.
Rashala 9th Sep 2014, 9:30 PM edit delete reply

Well my heart rate just incresead There I really got turned on by ceci there
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

LOL
Rashala 10th Sep 2014, 5:26 PM edit delete reply

What?!?! *innocent look*
Tokyo Rose 12th Sep 2014, 2:18 PM edit delete reply

"You seem to be experiencing localized tissue inflammation," Ceci said, turquoise eyes bright and innocent. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

(And now that I've given Rashala something to, um, think about . . .)
cattservant 9th Sep 2014, 10:08 PM edit delete reply

Ms Badluck's bad luck continues...
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2014, 3:06 AM edit delete reply

You can't say that, Cat. Dari was stopped before she could activate her bad luck. So it is GOOD luck (for her).
J 9th Jan 2018, 10:15 AM edit delete reply
Exactly... Miss BadLuck just failed a roll for initiative.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:27 AM edit delete reply

heheh just a bit
plymayer 9th Sep 2014, 10:34 PM edit delete reply

Gulp!
XMinusOne 9th Sep 2014, 10:53 PM edit delete reply
Aw, g'wan Dari, she's bluffing, hit 'er with your cast, make a break for it, whatsamatta, ya chicken? Chickennn ... buk, buk, buk, bukawww.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:27 AM edit delete reply

you just want to see her get turned into a fine red paste by Ceci
Speedy Marsh 6th Feb 2017, 2:57 PM edit delete reply
A pink mist would also work, but that big a blast might singe Ceci's hand, even with the protection field. (And, Prince Butthead might claim Ceci as his interior decorator)

Also, that alt. text... It's right up there with "Space is big." :)
JacobJSebastian 9th Sep 2014, 10:55 PM edit delete reply

I kinda wanted to see Ceci catch the arm with the cast without even looking in her direction and making some comment about her needing a full body cast if she didn't settle her shit.

or something to that effect. :-D
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2014, 2:57 AM edit delete reply

Yeah Jacob. I could see that too.

I wonder if the guards have any bets on Dari trying something stupid like that.
anonymous coward 10th Sep 2014, 8:56 AM edit delete reply
That would allow her to get entirely too far into an attempt for proper decorum.
Sheela 10th Sep 2014, 11:04 AM edit delete reply

I could definately see the guards making bets on that. :D
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 11:13 AM edit delete reply

LOL wonder how many marks they would bet..
Stormwind13 11th Sep 2014, 1:42 PM edit delete reply

Proper Decorum? For WHO, ac? :-D I mean, those guards are probably bored. Watching Dari do something stupid and possibly getting to watch a cat fight... Or maybe getting to actually DO something besides stand in the hallway. That would be entertainment to them, I think. :-D
Sheela 11th Sep 2014, 3:02 PM edit delete reply

Heh, I can just see it in my mind, Dari trying to mount a grand daring escape, only to get slapped down by one of the guards at the door and the other one one going "HAH, I won the bet - She *did* reach the door!" :D
anonymous coward 11th Sep 2014, 3:09 PM edit delete reply
Yes, proper decorum is usually boring, but also usually safe unless the standards are being set by a madman.

Oh wait, they are. Nevermind.
DizzasterJuice 10th Sep 2014, 7:04 AM edit delete reply

She should break both her legs just for the fun of it.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:28 AM edit delete reply

well .. she does not actually enjoy hurting people .. but shes not telling Dari that.. :D
DizzasterJuice 10th Sep 2014, 1:19 PM edit delete reply

You mean she would rather perform her "special" techniques on someone than break their legs? I wouldn't have guessed.
jas 10th Sep 2014, 7:38 AM edit delete reply

Yes dear, you just got pwned by the "babbling @#$% idiot." Now just smile and nod...
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:28 AM edit delete reply

She should really quit while she is ahead..
The_Leaking_Pen 10th Sep 2014, 11:30 AM edit delete reply
Or, you know, still has a head.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 2:48 PM edit delete reply

YUP
Stormwind13 11th Sep 2014, 1:47 PM edit delete reply

LOL Leaking. Yeah, Dari is NOT the brightest bulb. If someone as bad-ass as Dolly left Bubblegum to oversee you KNOW that Bubblegum is probably VERY, VERY dangerous. Because Dolly does NOT do things halfway.
Sheela 11th Sep 2014, 3:14 PM edit delete reply

I suspect even Dolly underestimates CeCi's combat prowess somewhat.
Nobody but Centcomm really knows what hides inside of CeCi, and a lot of it is probably highly illegal. I doubt she would stop for anything less than a fullblown Terminator style death.

Even if you blew off all her synthetic skin, she would probably still be coming for you!
Speedy Marsh 6th Feb 2017, 4:38 PM edit delete reply
Well, hardware aside, I doubt even Centcomm knows what hides inside Ceci.
KarToon12 10th Sep 2014, 8:58 AM edit delete reply

Ceci is the prime example of "beware the nice ones".
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 9:29 AM edit delete reply

Oh you have no idea... :D and yes that is a perfect trope for her :D
Sheela 10th Sep 2014, 11:05 AM edit delete reply

Dolly and Ada kinda fits it too.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 11:13 AM edit delete reply

does it?
Sheela 10th Sep 2014, 11:37 AM edit delete reply

Dolly is basically a nice gal, though she's acting tough to keep her image up ... but she can certainly be dangerous.

Same with Ada, she has the potential to be really dangerous at the tip of a hat, but she's such a sweetie .. and she needs more TeeDee hugs !
Stormwind13 10th Sep 2014, 3:03 PM edit delete reply

Like you said before Sheela, Dolly is MOMMA BEAR. She is very nice, calm and collected even when things are going okay...

Threaten one of her cubs though (and she seems to collect them like some women collect shoes) and RAWR!!! Dolly will tear you in two.
KageMCS 10th Sep 2014, 2:33 PM edit delete reply
Another one that fits her like a glove is "Beware the Silly Ones." Just because her actions and words are hilarious doesn't mean she isn't the most dangerous person in the room.
Centcomm 10th Sep 2014, 2:47 PM edit delete reply

I agree.. :D
Draginbeard 10th Sep 2014, 8:30 PM edit delete reply

Well, that was a pretty good intimidation check!

Dari is thinking again. I kinda hope she gets away. She has the makings for a solid recurring, low level baddie.

Ceci seems to be coming into her own more and more. She is showing a better sense of self, and learning just how brutal she needs to be to survive in this world.

Hope she gets over this 'Mommy' phase. It detracts from the growing level maturity she has been making. "Mom' or even 'Mother' reflects her growth better.
Twistedfro 10th Sep 2014, 8:40 PM edit delete reply

wow...not one to mess with
Don B. 10th Sep 2014, 9:39 PM edit delete reply
I just love the look Ceci gives Dari in the last panel. I do believe that this is the first time I've seen her use that kind of expression. Casually serious is the only way I can think of to describe it but doesn't seem quite right. Suggestions anyone?
Timotheus 10th Sep 2014, 11:36 PM edit delete reply

Ceci shifts personalities like chambers in a revolver. The personality she presents to the world depends on what aspect of her functions is in ascent at the moment. But they are all Ceci.
Her core personality is still forming around her prime directives, which at the moment are a central core to help and support Dolly complete the mission, a basic morality package that Victoria snuck in, and a mish-mash of bits and pieces of programming from various sources she's either accepted and incorporated or rejected and turned off but are still in her memory. These are in a constant state of being recompiled as new programming and experiences are added to her baseline.
Consider CeCi as a hard drive that is constantly being defragmented and upgraded while it is trying to run programming.
"Mommy" reflects her attitude toward a senior, stable, role model AI that she looks up to, wants to model herself after, is looking to for guidance, etc. etc.
Draginbeard 11th Sep 2014, 2:31 AM edit delete reply

You're seeing something Im not. The only personality I see is the 'innocent child looking for approval.' I keep hearing say things like "is this okay?", and "are you mad at me?" I see her trying hard to be helpful, but also picking up on things (body language, speach, and mannerisms of those around her) she hadnt before.

Left alone, I see her becoming more and more capable, in Dollys presence she seems to revert a little, but the growth is still evident.

She isnt the lost little girl anymore, but then this is my perception of her actions. I dont see any of the other personalities you are catching.

Timotheus 11th Sep 2014, 3:06 AM edit delete reply

Oh I agree her central personality is growing and maturing as time is passing. That's what I'm referring to as a constant state of recompiling. It's just that when a specific operating mode takes over, say target analysis, then only those personality elements associated with it (or lack of) become dominant for the space of time they are in use until that mode has been fully integrated into Cecis being. So as Ceci discovers new abilities she often acts different when she first uses them.
And I don't think this a very hard and fast rule, just a sometimes thing.
velvetsanity 11th Sep 2014, 8:35 AM edit delete reply

I don't think it's reverting so much as looking to Dolly for guidance because she's so young/inexperienced. Particularly since CentComm set her up to view Dolly as a mother figure, combined with the knowledge that Dolly *has* half a century of real experience. You see it in the army all the time with new privates with their squad leaders. (They don't call their squad leaders "Mommy" of course, but it's a similar relationship.)

Dolly is the alpha wolf, and Ceci is her subordinate, a fresh young pup with training but no experience.
Stormwind13 11th Sep 2014, 2:02 PM edit delete reply

I think that is a very true, velvet. CeCi has a lot of knowledge and skills, but not a lot of experience on how to best USE her knowledge or skills.

CeCi could do far WORSE than to follow Dolly's lead for sure, velvet.
Sheela 11th Sep 2014, 3:15 PM edit delete reply

Indeed, she could be following Dari's example!
Haegan2005 11th Sep 2014, 5:44 PM edit delete reply

oh lord that made me laugh! You're absolutely right, she could be following Dari's example...

But Dari's example means getting beaten by Mommy. I suspect Ceci passed on that for a good reason!
Stormwind13 11th Sep 2014, 5:46 PM edit delete reply

CeCi is not THAT stupid, rebel teenager or not, Sheela.
Caley Tibbittz Collopy 14th Nov 2014, 7:01 PM edit delete reply

Ceci is such a wonderful and original combination of childlike, brilliant, and badass. Almost no writers could even start to pull that off, but here, it comes across as effortless.
Centcomm 14th Nov 2014, 7:09 PM edit delete reply

thank you .. that is a awesome compliment :D
Steven-Vincent 12th Dec 2015, 10:54 AM edit delete reply

Yes, CeCi is great. Quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
antrik 11th Oct 2016, 12:49 PM edit delete reply
