Don't think she'll be so easy to brush off.
Dragonrider 7th Oct 2014, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

Agents of Tokyo Rose or Kali, or Setorius Akinian, or Princey Douchybag aren't usually that easy to dump I wouldn't throw an agent of Maxus out of that mix either either.
Haegan2005 7th Oct 2014, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

Not dumped yet! And yes, I suspect the slave heard the modem speech.May not have understood what it is, but definitely understood it.

I get the funny feeling that Almathea just now has no idea of how to deal with these two. Dolly and Ceci are acting very oddly out of place for a usual guest.
Tokyo Rose 8th Oct 2014, 12:22 AM edit delete reply

As Ceci noted, she may be able to hear the sound of the transmission, but she lacks the ability to actually "read" the data. It'd be like hearing a dial-up modem squeal--just a burst of noise without meaning if you don't have the capability to decipher it.
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 4:43 PM edit delete reply

I'm wondering if she has enough experience to KNOW what that static was, Haegan. She is a slave in Nova Roma. A place NOT known for androids (or gynoids even). And the ones that ARE there are Cassians, which most people try to AVOID. :-) So she might not have enough data to identify it even if she heard it.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:15 AM edit delete reply

hehe I think rose covered this..
cattservant 7th Oct 2014, 10:28 PM edit delete reply

Not so easy at all...

[We haven't got a full rear view,
but is Amalthea of Manx ancestry?]
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:15 AM edit delete reply

She does indeed not have a tail.. :D or its too small to go past her skirt.
plymayer 7th Oct 2014, 11:16 PM edit delete reply

So, basically, "Git ya spyin' B*#$%"
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:14 AM edit delete reply

LOL
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 4:46 PM edit delete reply

I think that is the gist of Dolly's comment, plymayer. :-D
Rashala 7th Oct 2014, 11:44 PM edit delete reply

...things just get worse annnnd worse for dolly
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:14 AM edit delete reply

that they did ..
Kelon 8th Oct 2014, 1:04 AM edit delete reply
This is not about the actual page. I notice you have Maxus waaayyy back saying their is a ban on private weapons. Page Big Dude..
Then later you show everyone has to train and own a weapon. Seems to be a mistake here. Thought you guys might like to know!
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:14 AM edit delete reply

whups.. guess we made teeeny error there .. it will be corrected when we redo that section :D
Dragonrider 8th Oct 2014, 9:57 AM edit delete reply

Nova Roma just became like Switzerland and Israel today, shoot em if ya got em and make damn sure you do got em.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:14 AM edit delete reply

LOL good one ..
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 4:25 PM edit delete reply

I think there are two different things being discussed in those different places, Kelon.

One is that CITIZENS, male, are required to own and maintain a weapon (it is optional for women). Non-citizens are supposed to be banned from owning or even possessing weapons (which is the slaves and other non-important entities). Transients I think can have weapons, in certain places.

I think the distinction could be clearer though. If I'm remembering it correctly.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 4:29 PM edit delete reply

correct Stormwind.. :D
Tokyo Rose 9th Oct 2014, 2:54 PM edit delete reply

Back in the early pages, we were still doing a lot of world-building discussion between us, so there's a fair amount of continuity issues to be addressed with the reboot pages.
Draginbeard 8th Oct 2014, 1:35 AM edit delete reply

Im going to guess everything that happens gets reported back on, even odd, electrical sounds or signals.
CptKerion 8th Oct 2014, 8:16 AM edit delete reply
The key here is whether or not it gets reported. It is liable to have been detected of course, but proper greasing of palms can often serve as convenient glue for lips.
Of course, the confusion here indicates typical palm greasing won't work, but perhaps atypical will.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:14 AM edit delete reply

sometimes a box .. is just a box. thats the third option.. that she is just there to serve. :D
Hydrargyrum 9th Oct 2014, 7:11 PM edit delete reply

I'm quietly entertained by the focus on Amalthea here. Because Ceci totally didn't point out in the previous page the walls have ears. Or anything like that. :D
mjkj 8th Oct 2014, 3:19 AM edit delete reply

busted...
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:15 AM edit delete reply

heh whos busted I wonder..
SquallLion 8th Oct 2014, 6:28 AM edit delete reply
the Link tag has some errs: the link about 'Off World : the Crease ' is inactive (the image has no script)

how to get a avatar?

is it possible to have a gallery of the incentive (for voting at Top webcomics)? I've known this comic since yesterday...
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:16 AM edit delete reply

well shoot.. ill fix that. you can get a avatar by making a FREE comic fury account and then you can subscribe to Datachasers and Luna Star :D ( and that helps our numbers :D )
SquallLion 8th Oct 2014, 12:54 PM edit delete reply

thanks
and about the (old) incentives?
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:03 PM edit delete reply

Most of them have been moved to Patreon ( the ones I could find anyway. that was 2 HD crashes and a fried motherboard ago..

and the "Crease" link has been fixed. amusingly enough you will see a lot of the same models in both his and my comics. due to the models being commercially avalable. however both of us maintain our own "take" on them :D

Datachasers has been a web comic for around 8 years now :D
SquallLion 8th Oct 2014, 5:44 PM edit delete reply

a Patreon? I see. thx
DizzasterJuice 8th Oct 2014, 7:10 PM edit delete reply

Oh now I understand what you meant on your comment on whiteout, you meant since you started reading datachasers?

Centcomm, SquallLion taught me a new trick. Yay!!
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 7:28 PM edit delete reply

on DOF yeah i use it from time to time .. it does eat a bit of render time.. I also use it for ALL of the "fancy shots" and occasionally to put more emphasis on the foreground.. its like salt .. great in small amounts..
CptKerion 8th Oct 2014, 8:12 AM edit delete reply
And I keep getting distracted by the fact that Ceci acts so innocent. I keep forgetting that there is likely a near disturbingly calculating mind behind it that doesn't exactly miss details.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:18 AM edit delete reply

yes.. that is WHY she has the two personality's . you are seeing them blend now. she is fully incorporating her other ability's ..
DizzasterJuice 8th Oct 2014, 8:58 AM edit delete reply

So it's a "we don't want her to know we're talking about her even though she doesn't know what we're saying" kind of thing.

I just realized when I read your comment that I forgot about the key thing. I'll do that.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:30 AM edit delete reply

yep less to be suspicious that way :D
Dragonrider 8th Oct 2014, 10:00 AM edit delete reply

Just looked at new incentive did one of Dizzaster Juice's Zombies go visit Noctis?
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:31 AM edit delete reply

Oh you must be talking about Nox.. shes not a zombie.. she just looks that way..
Tokyo Rose 9th Oct 2014, 2:57 PM edit delete reply

That's the one who likes to count the Prince's heartbeats. Imagine having her standing very still in the corner of your room, staring at you. For hours.
Stormwind13 9th Oct 2014, 6:29 PM edit delete reply

O_o No THANK you, Rose!

But the Prince definitely DESERVES it. :-)
Tokyo Rose 9th Oct 2014, 7:14 PM edit delete reply

Utterly motionless.

Staring.

No noticeable breathing or blinking.

Just . . . staring.

For. Hours.
Stever 8th Oct 2014, 10:20 AM edit delete reply

Not sure she knows what to do with time off ;D
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:32 AM edit delete reply

nope. She really doesn't.
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 4:29 PM edit delete reply

She probably is AFRAID to be seen away from her assigned area. They might beat her senseless before they stop to ask if she was released from her post.

And Dolly is either ignoring or forgetting Dusty's advice. She is going to draw LOTS of attention if she lets the slave out.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 6:58 PM edit delete reply

they would probably ask why she was out and about,.. remember Miriako went about her bisness mostly unmolested..
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 7:13 PM edit delete reply

Miriako is a force unto herself. I don't get the same vibe from Amalthea as I do from Miriako. :-)
XMinusOne 8th Oct 2014, 10:47 AM edit delete reply
Aha! So Little Miss Helpful is a cyborg of mammalian/animal DNA construct. I'm sure she 'heard' that microburst of conversation, but has no clue as to its origin. That will go in the report anyway, so Noctis can get a tad more suspicious. Not enough dots for her to connect, though ... yet.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 11:32 AM edit delete reply

well Cyborg isnt quite the right term.. shes a Genetic Construct. modified at the genetic level.
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 4:36 PM edit delete reply

She is an AP (Artifical Person - Friday by Robert Heinlein). Or in more modern terms, like Max from Dark Angel, because all her genes aren't human. :-)
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

Right on all points Storm...
Sheela 9th Oct 2014, 10:00 AM edit delete reply

Could also call her a Chimera.
Centcomm 9th Oct 2014, 5:43 PM edit delete reply

very true
Stormwind13 9th Oct 2014, 6:21 PM edit delete reply

Very good point, Sheela. She would indeed be a Chimera, though not a natural one.
Abegeorge 8th Oct 2014, 12:34 PM edit delete reply
Nice art and comic. Just found it and did a marathon to get up to date. Small bitches you can ignore...
1. The area I blew through without dialogue. No longer on the blog.
2. Nice art of the Motorcyclist. Get. Your. Foot. Up. Or lose it! IDIOT!
3. From water, Fl, to sinking in the desert Phoenix? I prefer to have something to drink.
From Fl Nice Site.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 1:00 PM edit delete reply

Glad you like it !

1) the blog is a pain to navigate .. it should still be there the headings are to the right..

2)*blinks* are you talking about when Acantha and Lynn go biking?

3) confused? but are you referring to me in that ?
Stormwind13 8th Oct 2014, 4:33 PM edit delete reply

Sounds like Abegeorge (from Florida) is talking about your migration to HELL (called Phoenix)... And I agree with him. WHO wants to live in an oven? I like green growing stuff, not sun-scorched ROCKS too. At least water is useful, sun-scorched rocks... not so much. :-D

Oh and he is talking about the Fan Art by Pat Rochford, when your computer was down, I think. From 13 October 2013 - Random Art Sunday.
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 6:59 PM edit delete reply

ahh yes.. I didn't do that one..
KarToon12 8th Oct 2014, 7:54 PM edit delete reply

Dolly could always trick her to turn around, then give her the Vulcan Nerve Pinch? XD
Centcomm 8th Oct 2014, 8:34 PM edit delete reply

Good idea.. but her nerve clusters may not be in the same place :D
Timotheus 8th Oct 2014, 11:39 PM edit delete reply

She could try a catnip mouse to distract her.
Stormwind13 9th Oct 2014, 4:34 PM edit delete reply

LOL Tim. Yeah, but that might attract CeCi's attention too! :-D
Abegeorge 9th Oct 2014, 1:54 PM edit delete reply
Thanks Stormwind13. I was hitting 'next' fast and did not note that was a 'Fan Art'
And now I am off to go have a relaxing swim.
highlander55 9th Oct 2014, 5:34 PM edit delete reply

In Cents defense, Florida is hot and muggy while in Phoenix you go either tubing down the Salt River or go to Flagstaff and play in the snow. I lived there in the 80's and went in the pool in the morning, play in the snow in the afternoon and hot tub party at night back home.
Centcomm 9th Oct 2014, 5:42 PM edit delete reply

I can handle Dry and hot far better than muggy and hot..
