Seems the target may be Maxus, however it seems Noctis has a loophole fairly sure that Kali is aware of it as well. Also it would seem that with Maxus out of the way control of Lynns future would default to SFB who most probably plans on offering her two choices marry him willingly or serve as a pleasure slave for his bully boys.

I do like the editorial commentary provided by Malati.
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:28 PM edit delete reply

Yeah thats our Malati .. telling it the way she sees it :D
xpacetrue 13th Mar 2015, 6:12 AM edit delete reply

" Seems the target may be Maxus, however it seems Noctis has a loophole fairly sure that Kali is aware of it as well. "

I think you may be right.
Stormwind13 13th Mar 2015, 2:50 PM edit delete reply

I think there are multiple targets, though it sure sounds like Maxus is one of them. I'm thinking some of the Senate are the rest. Trying to cut off supporters of Acantha was my first thought.
ResonantStorm 18th Mar 2015, 1:20 PM edit delete reply
I agree. This makes the most sense of all the people it could be.
Thor 12th Mar 2015, 9:16 PM edit delete reply
Oooh, Noctis is a Rules Lawyer! Because technically correct is the best kind of correct.
velvetsanity 12th Mar 2015, 9:54 PM edit delete reply

Yes, it can be. Rules lawyers are the biggest pains to GM for, though
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:27 PM edit delete reply

I could see her in that role :D
xpacetrue 13th Mar 2015, 5:44 AM edit delete reply

Speaking of Rules Lawyers and GMs:
A classic (if not 'fun') example of this are Genies. GMs have a whole lot of wiggle room to interpret wishes, usually allowing them to twist a benign wish into a nightmare. But, alas, I've never been part of a campaign that involved a wish. Perhaps wishes are a big pain to GM for? Though, I thought they'd do it just for the 'fun' factor.
Boren 13th Mar 2015, 12:38 PM edit delete reply
Speaking from the world of D&D 3.X/ Pathfinder wishes have a set of "safe" limits, in other words an outline of what wish can specifically accomplish in terms of comparative effects and gold values, and rules as written and as intended anything within said limits should work fine and happen un messed around with.
Sheela 13th Mar 2015, 4:41 PM edit delete reply

Noctis is doing the loopyhole thing.

*sage nod*
Thor 13th Mar 2015, 10:18 PM edit delete reply
Everytime a DM offers me a wish, I politely turn it down. Wishes never go right and are nothing but trouble. They are just a way for the DM to screw you.
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:12 AM edit delete reply

I wished for a pizza. :)
Haegan2005 12th Mar 2015, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

Looks like Noctis is also thinking on all cylinders. Perhaps someone else was thinking ahead as well?
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:27 PM edit delete reply

more than likely :D
Sheela 13th Mar 2015, 4:42 PM edit delete reply

Noctis isn't firing on all cylinder at all, she only run wankel engines !
velvetsanity 13th Mar 2015, 5:31 PM edit delete reply

Rotary FTW!!!
xpacetrue 14th Mar 2015, 3:51 AM edit delete reply

Rotary engines are superior to reciprocating piston engines... in theory. They produce more HP per cubic cm, better mileage, and less emissions. In practice? There are reasons why we don't hardly see them in autos anymore. They're often more trouble than they're worth. And few mechanics will work on them. Or so I've heard (from mechanics).
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:14 AM edit delete reply

There are some issues, yes.
But most of them have actually been solved, which is one of the reasons they are quite popular in light aircraft.

As for the machanics, well, if you only educate a few, you will only have a few available. kinda simple.
MST3KFan 12th Mar 2015, 9:47 PM edit delete reply

At least someone is there to try and mediate things between these two.
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:23 PM edit delete reply

Noctis is always a calm head in a storm :D its one of her better quality's :D
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:16 AM edit delete reply

She's also been thinking long and hard on how to work around the orders, and she knows Malati is always up to try her theories out - If nothing else, then for the kicks.

I also suspect that of all the Cassians, Kali have had to punish Malati the most .. for shenanigans, mostly.
ProfEtheric 12th Mar 2015, 10:04 PM edit delete reply

Go go legal loopholes. Find a good one to hang Doucheimus with (I know, not likely).

I can't handle the anticipation!
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

hehe would you believe it gets worse ?
ProfEtheric 12th Mar 2015, 11:38 PM edit delete reply

xpacetrue 13th Mar 2015, 5:56 AM edit delete reply

Actually, I can think of a few loopholes which smart and conniving androids could use to get Douchie in a whole world of trouble.

Think: All they have to do is follow their orders to the letter. But there are a LOT of things they COULD do which neither Dec nor their programming prohibits them from doing.
Pirtnac 13th Mar 2015, 9:31 AM edit delete reply
"There must be no witnesses"

Max is in front of an assembly of Douche's most loyal troops, in walk the Deadly Viper A.... Er, the Cassians. They announce their intentions medieval joust style, then inform Max that it'll take about half an hour to hew through the witnesses as per orders. They ask him to stay *right there.*

Of course, there could be a TV host everyone but Douche loves, and their orders could be to end New Rome's equivalent of the Colbert Report. That's the fun with insane dictators.
Sheela 13th Mar 2015, 4:44 PM edit delete reply

"There must be no witnesses"

Decimus is a witness, thus he must be killed!
cattservant 12th Mar 2015, 10:24 PM edit delete reply

Got to get the loose cannons secured
before you open the gun ports.
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

I think the cannon just ran away :D
Stormwind13 13th Mar 2015, 2:52 PM edit delete reply

In several different directions, CentComm.
velvetsanity 12th Mar 2015, 10:50 PM edit delete reply

Methinks Malati let her emotions get the better of her this time
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

JUST a bit here :D
Sheela 13th Mar 2015, 4:45 PM edit delete reply

... that's one of her better qualities. :)
plymayer 12th Mar 2015, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

NO ONE likes to be called tin-plated. Except maybe Nick Chopper.
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:21 PM edit delete reply

GOOD point !
Sheela 13th Mar 2015, 4:46 PM edit delete reply

Nickel plated then ?
Draginbeard 12th Mar 2015, 11:05 PM edit delete reply

Is this just bluster, or can Malati actually refuse to obey Kali?
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:19 PM edit delete reply

To a Degree she can She may have to face the consequences of such a refusal As Kali said .. she could be Deactivated. this could get very messy .. quickly.

She does have a inhibitor but as Minx said .. it can only do so much to control a Androids behavor. it cant MAKE them think a certain way. it can only punish things that the controller doesn't like.
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:18 AM edit delete reply

Besides, Malati has a bit of rebellius streak within her, don't she just ?

Not to mention she could be throwing her underwear at a blond haired musclebound gladiator right about now, so she's not happy about the whole situation.
Timotheus 12th Mar 2015, 11:09 PM edit delete reply

We-ell, since we haven't seen or heard the exact orders yet, it would be difficult for we poor readers to spot any weasel out ways in them. But I'm sure our feckless heroines have, perhaps to the point of achieving the exact opposite of what the Douchemeister had in mind. (Eliminating witnesses can involve making sure they all went to the movies before hand so they couldn't see anything.)
Centcomm 12th Mar 2015, 11:18 PM edit delete reply

yep there are lots of ways to "interpret" orders ..:D Noctis is very good at this .
Tokyo Rose 14th Mar 2015, 12:12 AM edit delete reply

Noctis is the champion of creative interpretation.
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:18 AM edit delete reply

Curiously, because she doesn't seem the creative type.

Slow rivers runs deep and silent, I guess.
Tokyo Rose 14th Mar 2015, 3:54 PM edit delete reply

Arguably, one of the best ways to get away with shit is to appear to be the kind of person who wouldn't even try to get away with shit, hm? ;D
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 8:09 PM edit delete reply

True enough.

Too bad Tokyo Rose the character isn't very good at, well, exactly that ?
Tokyo Rose 15th Mar 2015, 7:01 AM edit delete reply

She looks like an adorable anime girl! How could she be suspected of anything but the purest of intentsssffffppphhh yeah couldn't get that out with a straight face.
Sheela 15th Mar 2015, 7:16 AM edit delete reply

He he he ... Tokyo Rose the character *also* don't fire on all the cylinders, she only fires cruise missiles with Hello Kitties painted on them. :)

Frankly, it seems that Tokyo Rose the character has done her darn best to come across as the most crass person she could possibly be, but at the same time relatively honest and loyal. An odd mix, to be certain.

.... relatively ...

Lukkai 15th Mar 2015, 7:22 AM edit delete reply
Would you be surprised to find out she's actually one of the most popular authors of Nova Roma under her pen name? ;)

I could imagine that, really.
Sheela 15th Mar 2015, 2:09 PM edit delete reply

Heh .. I magine her best selling novel would be named "Loopyholes 101" and is about Nova Roma law, and how to avoid it best. XD

It would ofcourse be banned by all the authorities, which would make it an instant bestseller on the black market. :)
mjkj 12th Mar 2015, 11:34 PM edit delete reply

Et tu, Noctis?

Yayyy, you go, Noctis...

I knew I liked her...

DLKmusic 13th Mar 2015, 12:20 AM edit delete reply

I posted it last strip but it bears repeating.

Hans 13th Mar 2015, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
Does that last "... uh..." mean Malati has seen a glimpse of The Path[tm]?
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:19 AM edit delete reply

Either that, or she's about to ask Noctis to explain it to her.
Timotheus 13th Mar 2015, 2:24 AM edit delete reply

I just realized that the way Kali is looking at Noctis in that last panel has all the earmarks of, "What unbelievably convoluted and dangerously close to but not quite insubordination are you about to drag me into". I think Kali prefers facing the more straight up "this is BS" challenge to the "I'm not going to win this one am I" approach.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:07 PM edit delete reply

heheh :D
Hornet 13th Mar 2015, 6:32 AM edit delete reply
If Malati managed the transfer her loyalty from the person on the throne to the throne itself. She may be an even better rules lawyer than Noctis.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:06 PM edit delete reply

Technicly the Prince IS the throne.. there is no grey area :P but the orders.. :D
Hornet 16th Mar 2015, 7:28 AM edit delete reply
Actually Ceci would disagree with you.
VanEzzania 13th Mar 2015, 6:56 AM edit delete reply

Kali: I do not get paid enough for this crap.
Stormwind13 13th Mar 2015, 2:52 PM edit delete reply

If they couldn't take the joke, they shouldn't have signed up VanEzzania.
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:20 AM edit delete reply

They didn't sign up ... they got drafted, quite literally, in a CAD/CAM program.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:06 PM edit delete reply

ba doom tish!
chk 13th Mar 2015, 7:08 AM edit delete reply

Damn Malati. Tell us what you really think.
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:23 AM edit delete reply

She can't, the language she *actually* wants to use, has been outlawed in Nova Roma by Kali .. after Malati used it once.

Yes, Malati has created an entire language of profanity, just for occasions like that.
Only very few people can actually use the language, since it includes several binary insults.

It is *so* profrane, that Centcomm's servers once had to reboot when she heard it.
TeeDee is ofcourse a master at it and Tokyo Rose has distributed it far and wide, just for the lulz. :)
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:06 PM edit delete reply

I . have no words Sheela :D
chk 14th Mar 2015, 4:43 PM edit delete reply

Yep. Me too.
DLKmusic 14th Mar 2015, 7:43 PM edit delete reply
so then, what exactly does "10011001.100111110.10011.0" mean?
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 8:12 PM edit delete reply

You really don't want to know.

Somehow, in a language that consists entirely of "on" and "off", Malati managed to find a "fuck you" and an "I don't give a shit", much to everyone's surprise.
chk 15th Mar 2015, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

I think the closest English translation would be something like "!##*&??#!!" but I'm not sure.
Sheela 15th Mar 2015, 2:21 PM edit delete reply

No, no, no, it's not abstract ... it's more like ... despite someone using only words that are *not* banned on television, they still manage to say something utterly despicable! A sort of .. creative use of something that already is, twisted in a brilliant way to make it utterly foul!

Something like this, really.
chk 15th Mar 2015, 2:48 PM edit delete reply

I believe I'm beginning to understand. . . or maybe not.
Pirtnac 15th Mar 2015, 8:54 PM edit delete reply
Okay. Forget the storyline. TeeDee and Malati duel to see who wins all. Weapons allowed: Insults.
JustNoPoint 13th Mar 2015, 11:32 AM edit delete reply

Some extremely patient people up in here! Errr, well, I guess some are people. Loosely.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:05 PM edit delete reply

nah they are people. :D
Skweeee 13th Mar 2015, 2:56 PM edit delete reply

There's always one in the gang.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:05 PM edit delete reply

Dongaria 13th Mar 2015, 3:47 PM edit delete reply

Remind me of a conversation Darth Vader's Bounty Hunters might have. ;)
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:05 PM edit delete reply

heheh and NO disentigrations .. AWWW Man!
Kitty 13th Mar 2015, 5:42 PM edit delete reply
Just imagine if Decimus could see this.

"Oh gods, they're getting emotional!! I just cannot STAND it when women get emotional!!" *facepalm* "Doctor!! Get me my medication!!"
Sheela 14th Mar 2015, 4:24 AM edit delete reply

I dunno man, when your weaponized toaster becomes angry, you should call the riot police, not stand around and try to take your medication.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:04 PM edit delete reply

Timotheus 13th Mar 2015, 8:11 PM edit delete reply

It would probably shake his faith in how the Cassians are NOT CAPABLE of betraying him due to their controls. Then he'd try to purge them. Which would be REALLY interesting.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:04 PM edit delete reply

it would be very intresting :D
XMinusOne 13th Mar 2015, 9:57 PM edit delete reply
Looks like Noctis is what we called a 'Barracks Lawyer'. One who knows all the in's, out's and get-arounds of interpreting an order to ones best advantage. I'm still goin' with the premise that Prince Douchebag's issuing orders that violate the governing rules of the Nova Roma State and is therefore, subject to punishment. No one is above the State.
Centcomm 14th Mar 2015, 4:04 PM edit delete reply

I cant really comment on this - but its worth remembering that Cassians are not suppose to be able to refuse a "direct" order.
kitty 14th Mar 2015, 10:21 PM edit delete reply
But it's hard for humans to say what they mean, sometimes... ;)
Sheela 15th Mar 2015, 7:18 AM edit delete reply

And even harder to understand what they mean!
Why, someone might misinterpret what they said!
Lukkai 15th Mar 2015, 7:28 AM edit delete reply
Oh, this language of the solids. It's so imprecise!
Sheela 15th Mar 2015, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

Indeed, why don't they just connect to the internet and download porn just like all the rest of us ?
