i think there is no better way to show Maxus true badass status.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:21 AM edit delete reply

*grins* we are gonna get to see lots of Max goodness here :D
T1G3R-2501 8th Jun 2015, 5:32 AM edit delete reply
I honestly hope that is not code for Maxus's intestines...
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:13 AM edit delete reply

For guts and glory ?
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:13 PM edit delete reply

Suuuure :D
Dragonrider 7th Jun 2015, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Well it seems that the output from the south end of a horse has well and truly hit the oscillating appliance in large buckets full.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:21 AM edit delete reply

hell with a bucket I think we have a fire hose set up.
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:14 AM edit delete reply

Liquid manure fed into the sprinkler system, no need for a fan then. :)
T1G3R-2501 8th Jun 2015, 1:56 PM edit delete reply
Fools! You are not thinking with portals!!
Fairportfan 7th Jun 2015, 9:31 PM edit delete reply

How many of us are old enough to remember Magnus, Robot Fighter?
ProfEtheric 7th Jun 2015, 9:33 PM edit delete reply

I do... :)

This still isn't looking the best for the good General here. There's still Malati and the Royal Pretorians, one of which is eager to get his gun off...

Still, the tide seems to be turning!
Lukkai 8th Jun 2015, 3:33 PM edit delete reply

Though our good general currently has a possible shield/bullet sponge on his hands.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:22 AM edit delete reply

Hey ! I remember that too! :D
Mark_L_A 7th Jun 2015, 9:42 PM edit delete reply

Remember Hrist has a Leetle bit of an over confidence problem.

http://datachasers.thecomicseries.com/comics/1191

Methinks she is about to get her head handed to her.

Although, considering Noctis' "Creative" interpretations it might be intentional on her and Malati's Parts.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:24 AM edit delete reply

you know with a cassian that is entirely possible .. and Yes Hrist is very confident ..
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:16 AM edit delete reply

Why, if she is *very* careful, the fight might drag out for a loong time, and the blue guys won't be able to get a good shot at Maxus.

Wouldn't that be a shame ?
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:14 PM edit delete reply

It really would .. :D
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 1:15 PM edit delete reply

They might get cranky at her too, and try to attack her, and then Malati would have to defend her fellow cassian.

Wouldn't that be a shame too ?
plymayer 7th Jun 2015, 10:06 PM edit delete reply

Not going to be easy. For either of them. This is why we train.

Rather, why they train. I sit and drink beer and eat.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:24 AM edit delete reply

hehe good one :D
Haegan2005 7th Jun 2015, 10:14 PM edit delete reply

Well, I have this feeling the prince's guards are not as good as we think they are. the 2 power houses by far are the Cassians. And it looks like one just went down.

Remember that they are not fighting a normal human. Max is genetically enhanced, I suspect for both speed and most definitely for strength. This fight is NOT a forgone conclusion.

There is, however a weak link. Max will likely surrender before his love can get killed, especially if one of them gets past him to lay a weapon on her. Or even if they spread out enough to make sure that someone can shoot past him to hit her.

We will see what the devious duo have done in this scene, and how this will play out. Everyone else is nice, but there are 2 groups atm that are the immediate pivot points. Max's group, and Lynn's group.

Freedom for either of them will ensure a serious fight as they are both rally points for the Army. Without them, resistance will likely fall apart after a bit.

Apologies for the wall of text! It has just been awhile since I have had the energy to sit down and predict what is likely to happen and its fall out. I rather enjoy looking at the plot and trying to anticipate what Cent and Rose are aiming for.

Since my guesses are not always dead on, it just makes the anticipation that much greater for the next page when I can see whether or not I am close or not!

Signs of good writing folks!
Deo 8th Jun 2015, 12:25 AM edit delete reply

i don´t think that making her hostage is a good idea, after all,if they kill her, what´s stopping Maxus from making them have a fate worse than death?
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:24 AM edit delete reply

I love seeing Readers predictions on the plot .. makes it a lot of fun to read :D
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

Maxus, is basically the biological version of a Cassian - An intelligent fighting machine.

As for Irene, she has already been at the bad end of an assault before, and if there was ever something to motivate anyone, it's being assaulted. People will train endlessly, to become more secure, should they end up being assaulted again.

And she's had several years to drawn on Maxxus' expertise, she doesn't even have to be able to fight the enemy, just be fast and nimble enough to dodge them, and perhaps get herself to a safe room, so Maxxus doesn't have to be worried about her, and give him room to really go at it at full power.

Plus whatever sneaky stuff they may have added to the house ... like traps, heavy weaponry, armor and perhaps an old war-droid.

Frankly, this fight can go any which way it damn well wants to go, including sideways.

Never attack a dragon in it's lair.
velvetsanity 8th Jun 2015, 10:42 AM edit delete reply

If they put a gun on Irene, that's a hostage situation, which could be construed as a terrorist act, thus the jackboots could lose any and all protection their status as drekhead's thugs provides. If they shoot Irene, that's murder. Again they could lose the protection of their position.

Sheela, whichever way this fight goes, later analysis will show it to require a tesseract to adequately explain how it went down.
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 11:39 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, and everything that's goes down might go tits up!

.. or sideways!
T1G3R-2501 8th Jun 2015, 1:58 PM edit delete reply
.... against my better judgement I'd have to say that I bet on the Machine over the man. Granted Maxus has the specs to match the Cassians one on one I doubt it will stay that way. There's honer and then there's orders.

Still... 10/10 would fight all three for shits n' grins.
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 2:45 PM edit delete reply

To be fair, Maxus has a LOT of experience in one-on-one fighting.
And he's probably also quite experienced in group brawls too.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:15 PM edit delete reply

All I can say is Max spent over 20 years fighting in the Games. and they never . ever held back ..
Tokyo Rose 8th Jun 2015, 5:06 PM edit delete reply

@velvetsanity

As Maxus just pointed out, what's happening right now is an assassination, not a legal proceeding. The Prince's men are effectively immune to repercussions thanks to his personal protection anyway, and they're acting on his direct orders at the moment. No one would be able to bring legal action against them, especially with no witnesses.
velvetsanity 9th Jun 2015, 12:34 AM edit delete reply

Rose, I was trying to imply that it might free Malati to take them out and improve Maxus' odds further
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 1:17 PM edit delete reply

Unfortunately, I think the prince's orders trumps the law, for he Cassians.
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 1:57 PM edit delete reply

it does... sadly.
Rashala 7th Jun 2015, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

please PLEASE tell me he has not forgotten she has Backup
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:25 AM edit delete reply

I assume you mean Hrist?
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 11:41 AM edit delete reply

Maxus is a general, I doubt he would forget something like that.
Rashala 8th Jun 2015, 1:44 PM edit delete reply

The guards AND miss Vivsection boner girl too.

Aka Motocycle slicer...Aka Hotty and horny beheader.....Aka weird girl playing with action figures.
T1G3R-2501 8th Jun 2015, 2:02 PM edit delete reply
Horny Beheader... No, I'll allow it... Huh... did not think that one would apply...
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:16 PM edit delete reply

heheh " miss Vivsection boner girl " says that a few times.. I like that :D
Aurora 7th Jun 2015, 11:12 PM edit delete reply
Such a fitting title... "We, who are about to die, salute you" - befitting a gladiatorial battle between two martial masters.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:25 AM edit delete reply

Yep .. it really is .. :D
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 11:41 AM edit delete reply

And Hrist saluted him, she's a sharp one, she is.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:17 PM edit delete reply

Yep her blade is even sharper..
Draginbeard 7th Jun 2015, 11:31 PM edit delete reply

Im wondering if Malati is going to be the monkey wrench here...
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:26 AM edit delete reply

cant really say here .. but stay tuned .. this may go several directions .. at once even :D
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 11:44 AM edit delete reply

Or she might break out the popcorns and go to munch town!
Heck, we know she likes to go to the gladiatorial pits and watch a good fight, and they don't get much better than this!

Meanwhile, Rose is probably streaming a video of this, and taking bets, making a nice profit on the side. :)
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 4:08 PM edit delete reply

Rose is offering popcorn I think :D
T1G3R-2501 9th Jun 2015, 6:33 AM edit delete reply
*Munches happily*
Ya know... *chomp* Popcorn's actually not half bad.... *slurp* It could use butter though...meh *nom*
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 1:19 PM edit delete reply

So .. rose has offered Malati popcorn ?

Those two are in cahoots, I knew it!
Timotheus 8th Jun 2015, 12:41 AM edit delete reply

I'm still thinking that Irene and her body suit could possibly handle the three "delete" er "elite" guards and/or at least side track a Cassian long enough for hubby/mate to deal with the problem at hand.
I might add that fighting the general hand to hand with an edged weapon knowing he's a master at such combat against automatons might just be a sneaky way of subverting their mission. (Well, we tried...)
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:27 AM edit delete reply

Irene has no real combat value.. shes a normal person sadly .. and a sculptress.. shes never been a combative person - she knows some basic self defense but is no superhuman and the suit offers zero protection ..its designed to be "invisible"
Deoxy 8th Jun 2015, 6:51 AM edit delete reply
It's designed to be really, REALLY invisible, as she has to wear it to do anything of physical significance, and considering her relationship with Maxus...
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:28 AM edit delete reply

Frankly, she just have to stay out of harms way, if she can do that, Maxus would be in a better situation, as he would only have to keep himself safe.

Heck, if the cassians and the guards ignores her, she can begin finding stashed weapons and throw them to Maxus - Kinda like Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:18 PM edit delete reply

Never played Bio shock.. heard too much flack about the copy protection and didnt want to deal with that and puzzles.. I hate puzzles..
cattservant 8th Jun 2015, 1:04 AM edit delete reply

Fluidity!
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 2:28 AM edit delete reply

yeppers!
mjkj 8th Jun 2015, 4:43 AM edit delete reply

Go, Maxus...

...but please do not kill her - she has no free will there...

Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 5:55 AM edit delete reply

everyone here is between a rock and a hard place .. except the goons ..
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:29 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, they are between *many* hard rocks and some downright murderous hard places .. filled with murderturds!
velvetsanity 8th Jun 2015, 10:47 AM edit delete reply

Says you, Cent. Odds are that the jackboots signed their own death certificates by participating in this farce.
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 2:47 PM edit delete reply

Also, "killing" Hrist would probably just mean she would get reloaded into a new body.

So there is some leeway, in the outcome of this fight, Maxus doesn't have to hold back.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:18 PM edit delete reply

Unless Max smashed her brain case .. in that case shes pretty much perma dead.
T1G3R-2501 9th Jun 2015, 6:31 AM edit delete reply
Ahh advanced technology.... All that implanted armor and shit and a smashed in skull still kills anything!
Greenwood Goat 8th Jun 2015, 5:28 AM edit delete reply
But Maxus has left himself wide open to Malati, who is so fast she can appear to teleport...

Malati: *grab* *grab* *grope* *fondlebuttslapmassage* *strokerubcaress* Maxus, the fight is over - twitch wrong and my blades go in your vitals. Guards, stand down and return to your duties - I have to check this... mmmm, captive for concealed weapons'n'shit before I take him in. Oh and drag Hrist out of here and get her to maintenance or something... ...Well carry on, men! - you're spoiling the mood- I mean, distracting me! General Maxus is a highly dangerous captive, and there is ever such a lot of him to check over... And as for you, girl, I need to inspect your stock of massage oil. For official reasons. :-3

>:=)>
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 5:55 AM edit delete reply

LOOL! I really like this one ! I dont know why but that is so Malati :D
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:31 AM edit delete reply

I wonder what Irene's response would be to that ?

... she might be sexually adventorous!
Professor Fate 8th Jun 2015, 5:28 AM edit delete reply
Hrist is about to go airborne, after being a shield for incoming fire.
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 5:56 AM edit delete reply

well remember what happened to Decimus ?
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:32 AM edit delete reply

He met a beautiful door, and sweet sweet music of ribs cracking happened. :)
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:19 PM edit delete reply

Yeppers.. :D the cassians are MUCH faster than Decimus and a lot more durable ..
mjkj 9th Jun 2015, 4:25 AM edit delete reply

Hmmm, Hrist-bowling...

Maxus: Incoming...!

Hrist: *tumbles into blue armors*

VanEzzania 8th Jun 2015, 5:43 AM edit delete reply

I hope he wins!
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 5:56 AM edit delete reply

we shall see :D
Stormwind13 9th Jun 2015, 7:17 AM edit delete reply

I hope he SURVIVES, Van. Very much in doubt right now (despite how well he is doing at the moment).
T1G3R-2501 8th Jun 2015, 5:51 AM edit delete reply
Arrrgh so frustrating!!!
On the one hand I want to bail on the comic for a few pages to miss this part...
On the other hand I REEEEEEAAAALLLYYY wanna see one of the girls torn in half!

I'm a big scary tiger monster and this ammuses me... I go with plan sit..
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 5:56 AM edit delete reply

well I for one am glad your hanging around :D
T1G3R-2501 8th Jun 2015, 2:09 PM edit delete reply
I assume the only reason you and Tokyo like having us readers here is just to torment us. I know people like you! The assassin in my group hires a red dot to distract me!! I keep hitting the wall
Hornet 8th Jun 2015, 6:37 AM edit delete reply
Some blue shirt cowards going to make a bid using Irene to try and make Maxus stand down. Aren't they?
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 9:33 AM edit delete reply

Well, they *are* sacrificial lambs, aren't they ?
Stormwind13 9th Jun 2015, 6:38 AM edit delete reply

The problem is, they see themselves as the Rams not lambs of this encounter, Sheela. I think they are very much mistaken; however, enough jackals can bring a lion down.
KarToon12 8th Jun 2015, 9:17 AM edit delete reply

Nothin' like killin' unwanted dudes while in your undies. XD
Sheela 8th Jun 2015, 11:45 AM edit delete reply

On the bright side, there's no armor to slow him down.
And big dudes like him, are scary when they are fast!
Centcomm 8th Jun 2015, 3:20 PM edit delete reply

yes they are .. Fast tanks are what we call em in games :D
Tokyo Rose 8th Jun 2015, 5:17 PM edit delete reply

Or "fast bricks". The trope is "Lightning Bruiser".
CptKerion 8th Jun 2015, 7:59 PM edit delete reply
Speaking as an oft-player of lightning bruisers, getting into melee combat with them in almost any circumstances is a terrible idea. It's also distinctly hard to get out of melee with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he made full use of anything that engaged him in melee as a shield against ranged weapons and a throwing weapon. He'll also have his opposition disarmed (both definitions) and be using their arms (both definitions) against them almost instantly.
I'd say that Katana will be getting driven through someone's visor.

If they don't take him out really, really fast, he's quite likely to win this engagement and then the civil war will be very, very real.

My rule of thumb, if Maxus is confident then he is rightly so. He's a general for a reason.
I'll bet that entire speech he gave he was analyzing how his opposition would respond and creating a plan.
Mark_L_A 12th Jun 2015, 1:01 AM edit delete reply

Before I broke my back I was in Law Enforcement, (Housing Authority Cop/Security) I got into several fights. Being almost 6'4" and weighing 250+ of muscle (Former football player who took Tae Kwon Do in the Army) I ended several fights but just grabbing the person I was fighting with and throwing them into the nearest hard object. (Walls, Cars, Minivans, Trucks, the Ground) which worked really good until I got into a fight with a guy who was almost 7' tall and outweighed me by about 150 lbs. He cracked 3 of my ribs and I broke 3 of my knuckles giving him a concussion, but I didn't have to shoot anybody which I consider a win.
Lukkai 8th Jun 2015, 4:01 PM edit delete reply

Really love how Maxus applies the "before you were born"-speech to an android here. That man is no stranger to good combat banter. :D
Centcomm 9th Jun 2015, 11:54 AM edit delete reply

its a weapon just the same as a sword or gun.. demoralize or push off balance .. remember Max knows these two very well. but then he makes it his job to know his men and those under command .. its one of the things that makes him such a good commander .. and if your wondering why only blue and silver guys are here .. No one in the regular army would take this mission and the gold Praetorian are Max's guard.
Lukkai 9th Jun 2015, 7:10 PM edit delete reply

Oh, I fully realised that the only thing red or gold guys would be doing at this point would be to pump two unsuspecting Cassians full of lead (or energy bolts) and then kindly ask first for their submission upon inflicting enough damage to take them out of the fight (if not going for a coup de grace anyway) and then for further orders from their general.
DLKmusic 8th Jun 2015, 6:57 PM edit delete reply

I am now so completely unsure of what the Cassians have in mind that I think I'll take Malati's advice, and shut up before she ties something of mine into a bow.

Hornet 8th Jun 2015, 8:03 PM edit delete reply
The problem with whatever their plan was, is that they forgot to tell Maxus about it.
Stormwind13 9th Jun 2015, 6:32 AM edit delete reply

Maxus is certainly 'off script' as far as the Cassians are concerned, Hornet. He appears to have a script of his own, and it seems to be going better than the Cassians', so far.
T1G3R-2501 9th Jun 2015, 6:44 AM edit delete reply
I dunno Stormwind, Last time I remember two people's script's not lining up Romeo and Juliet ended up dying. Not saying it's a love story but plans never fully mesh together well.
Sheela 9th Jun 2015, 3:49 PM edit delete reply

Nah, last time something went offscript, Kyle got three bullets in the chest.

Can that happen again ?
Lukkai 9th Jun 2015, 7:12 PM edit delete reply

Is he really off-script as far as the Cassians are concerned? I mean, they probably know him fairly well and would have to have expected such a reaction.
Timotheus 9th Jun 2015, 1:00 AM edit delete reply

After a bit of reflection and based on information received so far in this discussion, I'd say the Cassians have set up a battle plan in full concordance with their orders that they know will fail because of their knowledge of the target and are counting on the general realizing this so he doesn't damage them too severely while he overpowers them. Otherwise they'd be using ranged weapons with stun capabilities and a site that would restrict his options like a hall or doorway. (Along with taking hostages first and using a larger strike force, this IS Maxus we're dealing with.)
