Ouch, that's gotta hurt.... or would hurt if she had a nervous system instead of an electro-mechanical system.

Well done as always, I suppose the main event is up next. Hope there's a rabbit that can be pulled out of the hat here for somebody, I really do...
Centcomm 18th Jun 2015, 9:30 PM edit delete reply

oh don't let that fool you .. it hurt.. her pain cut outs are just working overtime to keep it from being incapacitating ..
Skweeee 18th Jun 2015, 9:34 PM edit delete reply

Aw man! Centcomm, I want to help you, but I'm trying to save for tuition for art school. It's tight.

Give me a couple of days to see if I can at least put something together for you.

Soldiers don't make much money I'm afraid.
Centcomm 18th Jun 2015, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

its totally understandable ! - and good thoughts count too! HUGS!
Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 12:10 AM edit delete reply

Well, good thoughts from me as well then ... currently getting my teeth done = no money ! :(
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 12:17 AM edit delete reply

its all good :D HUGS!
Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 11:41 AM edit delete reply

But I wanna heeellp! :(
Mister Black 18th Jun 2015, 9:38 PM edit delete reply

I had been wondering what an android's fractured Hrist would look like. Now I know.
Centcomm 18th Jun 2015, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

oh.. my lord! thats horrible .. but very good one Sir!
anonymous coward 18th Jun 2015, 9:42 PM edit delete reply
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Mister Black, and try the potato salad.
Centcomm 18th Jun 2015, 10:24 PM edit delete reply

Indeed! :D
DLKmusic 18th Jun 2015, 10:37 PM edit delete reply

That's horrible!!!!! Wish I had thought of it!
Mark_L_A 18th Jun 2015, 11:11 PM edit delete reply

Mr. Black is a Punnster. Engage in a battle of wits with him at your own peril.
Dragonrider 18th Jun 2015, 9:38 PM edit delete reply

Looks like Max elected for safe rather than sorry, seems a Cassian is about to lose her head. Malati's comment is rather interesting, it almost sounds as if she and Irene are friendly.
Centcomm 18th Jun 2015, 9:48 PM edit delete reply

Well to be fair Malati has nothing against Irene .. She actually DOES like her. She also likes Maxus
Haegan2005 18th Jun 2015, 9:50 PM edit delete reply

I think Malati is just enjoying watching a professional work.

I also note that Malati is the only one in a position to cause Max to stop long enough to talk to him...

Cent, is my aim at least somewhat true on this? :D
Centcomm 18th Jun 2015, 10:13 PM edit delete reply

If I say anything definitively .. Rose will kill me.. Seriously.
Haegan2005 18th Jun 2015, 10:52 PM edit delete reply

Well we don't want that!

Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 12:11 AM edit delete reply

Centcomm vs. Rose ??

*brings out the popcorn*
Ok, I'm good here - Commence !
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 12:17 AM edit delete reply

it wouldnt be much of a fight.. >_<
T1-G3R2501 19th Jun 2015, 5:45 AM edit delete reply
Ohh ohh tag me in! I'm all about fights I can't win!
Mark_L_A 19th Jun 2015, 6:49 AM edit delete reply

Would you care to borrow my body armor? You'll have to take it in quite a bit though.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 11:11 AM edit delete reply

heh .. ill just hide .. that sometimes works!
Mark_L_A 20th Jun 2015, 12:05 AM edit delete reply

Hiding never really worked for me. Of course when you're a 6'4", 275 lbs ex football player/weightlifter, it's kinda hard to hide in the first place.
anonymous coward 19th Jun 2015, 12:21 PM edit delete reply
Seriously, you always knew it would end like that. Didn't you? So why keep delaying when you can choose when she murders you by making it happen sooner instead of living with the gnawing fear, the dread, the uncertainty, of not knowing when she'll do it?
cattservant 18th Jun 2015, 10:51 PM edit delete reply

This situation is simplifying somewhat...
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 12:17 AM edit delete reply

yes it is!
Mark_L_A 18th Jun 2015, 11:08 PM edit delete reply

"Her" Endeth The Lesson.

And Cent PM the specs on your RAM, I might have some here. I've got over 20 GB of ram in various sizes and types lying around. I might have what you need.

ETA: If anyone is a Member of the WFSA and is voting for the Hugo's you need to get your votes in by the 31st of July. SO if you haven't already read your Hugo Submissions and voted get cracking.

Mark_L_A 19th Jun 2015, 2:48 AM edit delete reply

Sorry WSFS, World Science Fiction Society ( And their Convention "WorldCon" being held this year at Sasquan (

You can attend, (This year it's in Seattle) or join as a Voting member ($40.00) they send you either the full work that was nominated, or extracts, which are yours so you can read them, plus you are eligible to nominate for next years Hugo Awards.

And I'm nominating Data Chasers for Next Years Hugo's if I can figure out the nomination process.

ETA: Dyslexia and Dyscalcula sux
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 11:11 AM edit delete reply

whoa .. That would be awesome of DC actually got nominated .. I think Rose would hide for a week ..
Mark_L_A 19th Jun 2015, 11:35 PM edit delete reply

The reply from this years Hugo committee member.

Hugo Award nominations should be for completed and identifiable story arcs. The first publication (online or paper counts the same) of the final installment of a story arc "starts the clock" on a given story.

We can only give general advice. The specific decision would be made by next year's Hugo Award Administration Subcommittee, and in general they will not rule in advance on the eligibility of any item. They'll only make a ruling if a work gets enough nominations to make the finalist shortlist.

A copy of this message is going to a member of next year's Hugo Award Administration Subcommittee, so the 2016 Hugo Awards Administrators have been made aware of your question, but you shouldn't expect a direct answer from them.

Kevin Standlee
Hugo Awards Marketing Committee

So I think I can nominate both Luna-Star (Which I intend to) and DataChasers. It just requires a completed Story Arc for DataChasers to be nominated. And I think we are getting close to having an Arc finished this year.

Annnnnddd This is Why Malti is the SMART one NOT fighting him.....I swear...DEcimus is gonna be a picture in the nova Roma Dictionary for DUMB MORON!
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 12:18 AM edit delete reply

heh.. perhaps.. or the most remembered ..
DLKmusic 20th Jun 2015, 12:40 AM edit delete reply

Nero and Caligula are almost as well known as Julius, Augustus, and Hadrian.
Also, the two most well known Kings in England's history are Richard (spent a total of 2 weeks in England) and John, who so "joyously and willingly" signed the Magna Carta...

He may earn that particular "honor" whether he wants it or not!
Lukkai 21st Jun 2015, 1:54 PM edit delete reply

Truth be told, Nero wasn't actually a bad leader at all. Nor a bane to his people. Today's most known picture of him is heavily tainted by propaganda that didn't start until decades to centuries after his death.
Caligula on the other hand...
Greenwood Goat 19th Jun 2015, 2:39 AM edit delete reply
I think Malati is a fan...

Malati: WOOOOO! YEAH! GOOOOO MAX! *pssst* clap your hands, girl! YAAAAY! *WHISTLES* HERE, BIG BOY! *throws underwear*

Irene: *!* Those were mine!

Malati: A warrior has to be able to improvise!

Irene: B-but how did you-?

Malati: Trade secret, girl!

T1-G3R2501 19th Jun 2015, 5:24 AM edit delete reply
This post gave me a headcannon I will roll with...
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 11:10 AM edit delete reply

hehe ok that was kinda awesome!
Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 11:16 PM edit delete reply

Maxus : "What the ... ?"
Maxus : "Underwear?"
Irene : "Ah, don't look at those!"
Malati : "That's right, sniff them instead!"

Oh and this is totally headcannon now! :)
KarToon12 19th Jun 2015, 5:54 AM edit delete reply

So awesome how she can cheer on her boyfriend, while having a knife to her throat.
T1-G3R2501 19th Jun 2015, 6:42 AM edit delete reply
I am pretty sure that with Malati's rep Irene figures that if she isn't dead by now there's a good reason.
Stormwind13 19th Jun 2015, 8:49 AM edit delete reply

I read that differently than you did, KarToon. I got breathless concern, not cheering, for someone she very much loves. I was thinking Irene was scared for Maxus, not understanding what she was seeing.
Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 11:08 AM edit delete reply

Irene is more scared / worryed than "cheering" sorry if that was unclear :D

and at Ti-G yeah .. you kinda hit on that did you ?
Mark_L_A 19th Jun 2015, 6:57 AM edit delete reply

I just noticed, that Maxus used the Hilt of his Sword to smash Hrist in the face. At first I thought he had used the blade, which would have meant major damage, possibly irreversible damage. With the Hilt, there is still damage as you can see Hrist's face shield shattered, however it is not instantly "Fatal"

ETA: I just want to share this news. My oldest daughter Boyfriend finally Proposed to her and she said Yes.

Centcomm 19th Jun 2015, 11:09 AM edit delete reply

He actually did hit her with the "hilt/Pommel" of the blade .. of course he hit her with enough force to shatter a persons neck and skull so.. we will see.

PS congrats Mark! :D
DLKmusic 19th Jun 2015, 11:23 AM edit delete reply

Congrats! Hope he's a decent kid.
Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 11:43 AM edit delete reply

Now you have yet another kid to emberass ! :D
Mark_L_A 19th Jun 2015, 1:13 PM edit delete reply

Thank you all for the well wishes. He is a good fellow, and he truly cares for my daughter. And he does everything he can to try to take care of her.

So all in all he's a pretty good match for her. Even though he IS former Chair, I mean Air Force.
Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 1:45 PM edit delete reply

He's a ceiling chair then. >_<
Marcus Ramesy 20th Jun 2015, 11:33 AM edit delete reply

nothing wrong with that.. the person behind character her is also former AirForce... so he has my vote so far :P congrats on every thing..
Kitty 19th Jun 2015, 6:28 PM edit delete reply
Is that a reflection of Malati and Irene in the left corner in the last panel? I can't tell if it's a reflection in the floor (shiny tile?) or in a sword blade...?
Stormwind13 20th Jun 2015, 5:13 AM edit delete reply

I think that is where Malati and Irene ARE, Kitty. Hrist moving is the 'blur' pattern over them. At least that is how I took it.

And I just noticed Maxus' reflection in Hrist's armor in the 3rd panel. Nicely done, CentComm. :-)
Timotheus 19th Jun 2015, 6:39 PM edit delete reply

See? He only disarmed her instead of really hurting her. And punched instead of beheaded. Max knows something's off with this assassination attempt and he's pulling his punches too. (Both of those strikes could have been easily fatal.)
anonymous coward 19th Jun 2015, 9:45 PM edit delete reply
Or, and this is utterly unsubstantiated, he wants the remains of a Cassian comlete with braincase for political/bargaining purposes.
Sheela 19th Jun 2015, 11:19 PM edit delete reply

Having evidence against Decimus, would indeed be useful.

And a talking Cassian head, would be just the thing.
Mark_L_A 19th Jun 2015, 11:28 PM edit delete reply

I doubt with their inhibitor they COULD provide evidence detrimental to the Throne, which Dreckhead IS.
DLKmusic 20th Jun 2015, 12:47 AM edit delete reply

Actually, Anonymous has a good point here. They may not be able to snitch on Decimus While he's still alive, but once he's dead, Acantha would have to order them to stay silent in order to get either of them to shut up about it.
Lukkai 21st Jun 2015, 2:00 PM edit delete reply

There's also the possibility that he would prefer them to still be around for when Acantha takes the throne. They usually are a boon to the populace of Nova Roma after all. And some of the best protection a wise leader could get.

Still, he's not exactly pulling his punches. Just administrating control as to where they land. Which is a mark of a good fighter anyway.
Marcus Ramesy 20th Jun 2015, 11:35 AM edit delete reply

possible.. but I would also like to point out.. the Cassians are very very hard to kill and are no joke when it comes to fighting them.. what would normally kill some one they can brush off.... they are not human and were built/designed to take a LOT of punishment.
mjkj 20th Jun 2015, 12:50 AM edit delete reply

Awwww, poor Hrist...
