IT'S BIDI!!!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

Bidi don't need no stinkin Shield pack, Marcus, you should know that!
Centcomm 19th Jul 2015, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Yep our crazy fun loving girl has a van of toys !
Sheela 19th Jul 2015, 9:29 PM edit delete reply

Ohh, Bidi ... been a while since I rolled through White Out's archive. Time to do it again, I think. :)

Sounds like my last date. Sorry about your goldfish hun, but the dog had rabies, BTW love the Beep Beep's.
Centcomm 19th Jul 2015, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

the beep beep was Roses idea. I cracked up when I saw it.
Dragonrider 19th Jul 2015, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

Now wait a minute...If Rose had done the Beep Beep it would have been Beep F%$%!ng Beep.
Haegan2005 19th Jul 2015, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

This like a prius beep? :D
DLKmusic 19th Jul 2015, 9:39 PM edit delete reply

or a VW Bug
Timotheus 20th Jul 2015, 1:54 AM edit delete reply

It's lacking fuzzy dice or a hula dancer on the dash board.
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:23 AM edit delete reply

look very carefuly at "Mister Happy Fusions glasses and Hat " :D that is not a person sitting with her ..
Hornet 20th Jul 2015, 5:02 PM edit delete reply
Given that it looks like a VW bus, that fits.
The Old Scribe 19th Jul 2015, 9:14 PM edit delete reply

Heads up, guard dudes, funs a-comin'.

A nuclear bomb filled kamikaze minivan. That's a new one. It would appear that very soon the south gate of the Black Palace will be open for some time to come ... and also radioactive for a few thousand years.
Centcomm 19th Jul 2015, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

Actually its a small fusion plant for a vehicle .. good news? almost no fallout.. bad news it still makes a hell of a boom. but its not a massive nuke or anything.. :D
The Old Scribe 19th Jul 2015, 11:30 PM edit delete reply

Bummer! Mebbe jus' a 1/2 kiloton model? Those 'shroom clouds are awesome.
Stormwind13 20th Jul 2015, 5:59 AM edit delete reply

Unless you happen to be in the AREA of the mushroom cloud, Scribe. Then it kinda sucks.
anonymous coward 19th Jul 2015, 10:01 PM edit delete reply
The fusion may be a new wrinkle on an old tactic, but I doubt so even in this world. In the real world there is a decades-long tradition of car and truck bombs driven kamikaze into security posts.
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:22 AM edit delete reply

Sadly that is true. and IEDs are also sadly common ..
jamie59 19th Jul 2015, 9:18 PM edit delete reply

LOL!! Come on Bidi you can do better than 80! (mph I'm American not French)
Centcomm 19th Jul 2015, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

shes still speeding up :D
Mark_L_A 19th Jul 2015, 10:21 PM edit delete reply

The problem being is once she hit 88 miles per hour she activates the flux capacitor.
Pirtnac 19th Jul 2015, 11:28 PM edit delete reply
She hits 88 miles per hour and blows up something in Luna Star's time period?
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:22 AM edit delete reply

NOt her fault !
velvetsanity 20th Jul 2015, 10:49 PM edit delete reply

Hey, give her a break, she's in a microbus! Those things aren't exactly known for speed :D
Sheela 19th Jul 2015, 9:28 PM edit delete reply

He killed a DOG ?!!! o.O

Blow him up! >:(
DLKmusic 19th Jul 2015, 9:31 PM edit delete reply

Blow him up, Sheela? Bidi will do BETTER than that! She will talk to the survivors if there are any!

only question now is.... where's Bidibot?
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:21 AM edit delete reply

Out for repairs SHES NOT CRAZY!
Haegan2005 19th Jul 2015, 9:36 PM edit delete reply

He killed a dog? COMB HIS FUR BACKWARDS!!! (SNARLLLLLlllllllll.....)

Wrong dog... He missed Sheela!!! :-D
Haegan2005 19th Jul 2015, 9:37 PM edit delete reply

There a list of cameos?
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:21 AM edit delete reply

Yep got one in a txt file.. its just taken several months to get to it!
xpacetrue 19th Jul 2015, 9:52 PM edit delete reply

Wait... All those black disks with radioactive labels attached to the front... Those are fusion blocks?!
Lurker 19th Jul 2015, 11:00 PM edit delete reply
If those are functioning as claymores, I'm going to have to challenge rule #37. (Sorry, wrong universe.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schlock_Mercenary)
Lurker 19th Jul 2015, 11:02 PM edit delete reply
Are those "Have a nice day" model nuclear claymores?
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:05 AM edit delete reply

List of explosives on the Van 80 pounds of plastic C-11 ( updated version of C=4 )
5 MK 10 Fusion mines ( currently in impact mode )8 claymores, 4 50 gallon liquid Propane tanks - 4 canisters of Oxygen - And one MK 5 Fusion core from a vehicle .. ( Blast radius about 50 meters and equivalent to 3000 pounds of TNT )

Her target is a 3 foot thick armored Gate about 70 feet high..
Hornet 20th Jul 2015, 12:48 PM edit delete reply
No wonder the vans having a little trouble getting up to speed, it's severely exceeding it's tow capacity.
Hornet 20th Jul 2015, 12:56 PM edit delete reply
est weight not counting fusion core and estimating claymores and fusion mines weight the same. Also using minimum oxygen cylinder weight you're looking at 1472 lbs. of explosives.
xpacetrue 20th Jul 2015, 3:31 PM edit delete reply

I'm curious to know how big those 4 canisters of Oxygen are. Pure oxygen?! Depending on the size, those could significantly amplify the explosion.

Also...
Cent, are you sure there are only 5 Mk 10 fusion mines? Because if those are the black disks with radioactive warning lables, I count at least SIX of those, maybe seven.
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 4:21 PM edit delete reply

yep there are only 5 of the big ones . there are several smaller ones and a shield generator inside the van the O2 tanks are 50 Gal liquid and about 80 pounds of C 11 and a mix of other things along with a couple of other tanks of volitle liquid explosives.

in addition you are pretty much correct on the Fusion blast from the power core .. the one in the vehicle will not detonate ( the one running it ) because its safety's are not compromised so it will just be destroyed
Hornet 20th Jul 2015, 5:13 PM edit delete reply
From the quick search I did Oxygen cans weight between 104 to 139 (empty), but the gas weight holds steady at around 20lbs. and yes that's 99.5% pure, 244 cubic ft at 2200 psi @ 70 degrees F. Big Badda Boom.
Lukkai 20th Jul 2015, 9:22 PM edit delete reply

I thought she wanted to open the gates.

Not level the whole hood!
Sheela 21st Jul 2015, 1:47 AM edit delete reply

Armored gates like that can take a beating.
I give her 50-50 chance of actually breaking it open.
Lukkai 21st Jul 2015, 3:37 PM edit delete reply

Reminds me of something from the Voyage to the West.

Whoever built a sturdy gate like this...
Phil 19th Jul 2015, 10:06 PM edit delete reply
so... um... car driven.. fusion bomb??
isnt that a little.. over kill?
chk 20th Jul 2015, 5:28 AM edit delete reply

Bidi is not familiar with the concept of overkill.
Stormwind13 20th Jul 2015, 6:05 AM edit delete reply

There is no overkill, Phil. Only open fire and time to reload.

The scary thing is this might not be overkill. Waiting to see how the door handles the blast. If any part of it is still standing, it may have been the minimum needed to knock with!
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:07 AM edit delete reply

Like CHK said.. Bidi does not believe in overkill ./. although this version is a Little crazier than our White out girl .
Lukkai 20th Jul 2015, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Yes, she does seem... slightly unhinged.
Guest 6th Nov 2018, 5:00 PM edit delete reply
Theres is no such thing as 'overkill'...merely 'what's available'...and theres nothing like a good GEE* to get the party started :)

*Gas Enhanced Explosion aka 'thermobaric'
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:20 AM edit delete reply

Nost vehicles have a fusion core for power .. these are outfitted with a insane amount of safety measures that prevent the reaction from going critical. sadly . these have all been disabled and its been locked into full power mode.
velvetsanity 20th Jul 2015, 10:54 PM edit delete reply

Bit of trivia: the goal for running a nuclear reactor is to make it go critical. Critical provides optimum efficiency. Supercritical is when the reaction goes out of control (think Chernobyl). It's a razor's edge for getting maximum output from a reactor.
anonymous coward 20th Jul 2015, 7:36 AM edit delete reply
Depends on yield. If I had to guess what the total yield of everything is, it's gonna be on the order of Hiroshima or smaller because it's less than a ton of material and the arrangement isn't an optimized thermonuclear bomb (with internal and external fission saturation ignition bombs to maximally trigger your fusile material). Frankly, I'm not even sure that a 'nuclear landmine' is possible as anything except a conventional landmine with radioactive shrapnel attached: There's a minimum critical mass in fission even if you have really good implosion charges around it, and fusion requires lots and lots of heating up (like being inside a fission nuke) to ignite unless there's some nigh-magic catalyst here I don't know about.
How big does it need to be? One of the classes of serious nuclear weapon research--that became public knowledge in the US--is "underground bunker busting missiles." A concrete bunker is really pretty hard to destroy and they've had time since then to improve the materials science they build a windowless fortress with. They might need it all just to do some serious enough damage to take out a part of the palace, if they can get the vehicle far enough inside. The whole neighborhood's gonna feel the thump though.
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 7:54 AM edit delete reply

Remember they can make "fusion packs" as small as a pack of cigarettes. they also make "Fusion grenades"

as i said this is NOT a Hiroshima type blast not even close. it will however do a LOT of damage across a large area about a football field in size ..

and yes .. everyone will hear this when it hits. trust me.
Grismagistus 20th Jul 2015, 8:57 AM edit delete reply
There goes the neighborhood...
Kitty 20th Jul 2015, 5:56 PM edit delete reply
Literally.
MirrorField 20th Jul 2015, 9:22 AM edit delete reply
One of my favourite toys from GURPS Ultra-Tech is called mini-nuke: A Miniaturized dial-a-yield (google it up) pure-fusion (ditto) warhead. Minimal fallout and max yield at 1 kiloton. At TL-11 (my estimation), you can fit one in 40mm grenade.
Lukkai 20th Jul 2015, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

I actually feel reminded of Privateer 2s Nuke'Em bomb.

The bomb that after dropping it will phase your craft out for a few moments because that is the only feasible way for you to clear the detonation radius.

I don't think I need to mention the weapon to be slightly illegal to obtain.
Pirtnac 20th Jul 2015, 10:04 PM edit delete reply
The other bit is marcus was talking about a shield generator. I don't think it's for the driver.

I remember reading about the first atomic bombs in production, and apparently the limitation on yield was getting the stuff that goes boom to stay together long enough to continue going boom.

That shield generator will create a nice barrier around (inside?) the vehicle. The generator will stop functioning quite quickly as it will be inside the explosion, but the field will endure for a brief period. With the time to multiply the yield being measured in nanoseconds, it'll help create more of a mess.
xpacetrue 20th Jul 2015, 3:59 PM edit delete reply

I did some digging into what would happen to a theoretical fusion power plant if it lost containment. I looked into both fictional reactors and real research going on today.

Bottom line: If a fusion power plant lost containment, the worst that can happen is a minor thermal explosion. (Such as the plasma superheating water or a cooling fluid.) A fusion power plant can derive energy from a reaction, but it's not designed to create an uncontrolled chain reaction. There's not nearly enough heat, pressure, or fuel. The escaped superheated plasma would just melt the immediate environment and leave a melty pool and/or a small hole in the ground.

On the other hand: This vehicle combines lots of convention explosives and fuel with an oxidizer, fusion explosive devices, and a vehicle's fusion power plant. It's hard to say, since we have nothing like fusion mines. Perhaps they could trigger a reaction?
anonymous coward 21st Jul 2015, 2:16 PM edit delete reply
Depends on your containment and reactor design. For instance, the design of the ITER project is supposed to involve a magnetic containment/heating loop. It *can't* go supercritical because there's a limit of how much fusing plasma it can hold, determined by the power of the magnetic containment loop. If you try to juice it up with extra deuterium and tritium the excess just goes ping against the (shielding) vessel walls. You would need to supplement or reinforce the magnetic loop electromagnets to try and increase the amount of plasma you could contain and warm in the magnetic loop, which is not a trivial procedure and it's easier to just build a bomb. No idea what sort of reactor design would be used for a freaking minivan-sized reactor though, I don't even know how you heat up your plasma enough to get fusion out of it.

Because ( insert technobabble here )

and Plot .. (( ill give you a actual real world answer when I finish my 7 advanced nuclear physics degrees and Mechanical engineering ))

* Happy artist note *

PS I am enjoying the back and forth on it. :D so do continue :D
Vivocateur 19th Jul 2015, 10:21 PM edit delete reply

I love that vehicle Cent!
(Lol: Beep beep!)
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:07 AM edit delete reply

Heheh I do too its so.. happy looking :D
Timotheus 19th Jul 2015, 10:40 PM edit delete reply

And let me guess, all the guards have are small arms that haven't a ghost of a chance of stopping a vehicle head on. (Blast barriers are sooo gauche, and they imply we're afraid of something.
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:15 AM edit delete reply

Actually there are two guards on the ground carrying MK 6 plasma pulse rifles - and two towers with twin MK 8 Blaster turrets - under normal circumstances they could turn it to rubble within seconds ...

Also they have barriers up as well and vehicle stoppers ..that may or may not have been tampered with..

:D
But read Marcus's text very carefully :D
plymayer 19th Jul 2015, 11:19 PM edit delete reply

That is one mean looking VW bus.
Mark_L_A 20th Jul 2015, 12:12 AM edit delete reply

I don't think it's a VW it looks more like a Dymaxion

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dymaxion_car

ETA: does anyone else read this and have this song stuck in their head?

Sheela 20th Jul 2015, 1:47 AM edit delete reply

I think you are right, that does look like the Dymaxian car.

On a sidenote, I absolutely adore the 40's and 50's aerodynamic streamliner designs, they were so wonderfully crazy! :)

They even made 2 wheeled cyroscope balanced cars !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6NDOAlpVIA

Crazy stuff. :)

And here I was looking forward to seeing a VW explode.
Centcomm 21st Jul 2015, 2:37 PM edit delete reply

you just might!
Draginbeard 19th Jul 2015, 11:52 PM edit delete reply

Ah Bidi, she seems to be channeling the Joker in this scene. Bubble gum crazy on the loose!
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:17 AM edit delete reply

Joker or Harley :D maybe both! :D
Lukkai 20th Jul 2015, 9:27 PM edit delete reply

I'd say the Joker's crazy combined with Harley's impulse control.
DLKmusic 20th Jul 2015, 11:02 PM edit delete reply

Are you sure that the Joker and Harley don't actually channel Bidi?
mjkj 20th Jul 2015, 4:31 AM edit delete reply

Wow, waiting for the impact :D

..poor Bidi, though...

Dragonrider 20th Jul 2015, 5:49 AM edit delete reply

No problem, she'll get out just like she always does. Then go tip-toeing thru the Palace with hand grenade bouquets for all she meets.
Centcomm 20th Jul 2015, 6:18 AM edit delete reply

Yeah DC is not a comedy sadly .. but shes only a Guest star so has no plot armor ..
anonymous coward 20th Jul 2015, 7:38 AM edit delete reply
Kicking off the dying with a suicidal nutjob pessing a shiny red button seems like a good action switch, plotwise.
Speedy Marsh 26th Mar 2017, 9:51 PM edit delete reply
Wait... Did Decimus and TeeDee have a love child? Lust child, actually. I think they must've bumped into each other in an old ICBM silo, years ago. Something about nukes has caused people to lose their inhibitions, ever since Slim Pickens humped an A-bomb.

No one knows what magic made it possible for them to reproduce, or how Decimus was able to carry and give birth to their daughter, but one thing is certain - They both would be proud of her, and not just a little jealous of her freedom to make things go boom.
chk 20th Jul 2015, 2:17 PM edit delete reply

Bidi seems to come out unscathed from whatever she blows up. (At least in 'Whiteout')
CptKerion 20th Jul 2015, 5:15 PM edit delete reply
the explosion may launch her back into her home setting.
Centcomm 21st Jul 2015, 2:38 PM edit delete reply

if shes in it .. most likely !
HiFranc 20th Jul 2015, 7:42 AM edit delete reply

So she was the one that upset the Palace routine? I wonder if they change in the tactical situation will make Decimus regret his recent orders?
DLKmusic 20th Jul 2015, 11:08 PM edit delete reply

I Doubt it, HiFranc. How many good soldiers in history do you think were executed because they failed to properly execute the "flawless plans" of their King/General/Warlord/Caesar?

From Decimus' point of view, "none would have fallen apart if my orders were followed."

Of course, that's actually getting ahead of the story a little, lol.
HiFranc 21st Jul 2015, 4:44 AM edit delete reply

I suspect you're right there.
Centcomm 21st Jul 2015, 2:39 PM edit delete reply
