This may be slightly one sided. Unless the operators surrender quickly!
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

wait till you see what happens next!
Sheela 30th Jul 2015, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

They probably have their own bots to throw at Dr Silver.
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:57 PM edit delete reply

actually they dont. >_< Silver locked the ones in the area down already..
Sheela 30th Jul 2015, 10:02 PM edit delete reply

Oh my, yeah that's gonna suck then.
anonymous coward 30th Jul 2015, 11:43 PM edit delete reply
When Silver gets blindsided by a Cassian returning from a successful mission? Possibly.
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 6:54 AM edit delete reply

I'm not sure those war drones are interested in surrender, Haegan. These clerks may pay for being on the WRONG side.
Mark_L_A 30th Jul 2015, 9:14 PM edit delete reply

Ohh dang. Doc Silver ain't playing. How long can she keep her shield up when it's taking that kind of abuse?
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Well Silver is actually cheating a bit .. Shes wearing a Barrier shield that has its own fusion pack and the drones are also projecting shields so actually 4 of them are sharing the load across them The NR guys really dont have anything that can punch though that kind of Layered shielding.
Mark_L_A 30th Jul 2015, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Unless the Nova Romans can bring up Anti-Tank weaponry to hit from front back and sides they can't touch her in other words.

Also check your inbox :D
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:34 PM edit delete reply

Its a 360 shield :D these guys are just screwed :D
Sheela 30th Jul 2015, 10:02 PM edit delete reply

What, with a screwdriver ?
Pirtnac 31st Jul 2015, 12:24 AM edit delete reply
I don't think "the slow blade penetrates the shield" is going to help them right now...
Marcus Ramesy 31st Jul 2015, 6:45 AM edit delete reply

remember boys and girls.. barrier shields are the kind that tend to be used on starships. the portable version is toned down a bit.. but it can take a serious beating before having problems..
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:32 AM edit delete reply

and a shield that has access to loads and loads of power doesn't really go down much at all.
Lukkai 2nd Aug 2015, 4:56 PM edit delete reply

Anti-Tank weaponry is rarely kept within such buildings though. So getting some there might take a while.

Unless, as someone mentioned, that weaponry comes in the form of a Cassian.
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 7:03 AM edit delete reply

That puts me in mind of a line from Illegal Aliens by Nick Pollotta and Phil Foglio. A starship with a shield up being attacked by a group of renegade tanks. Went something like, how long can the shield hold against their attack? This level of attack? Said with scorn. Thirty or forty YEARS, depending on if we run the air conditioning or not.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:32 AM edit delete reply

I remember that part ! that was funny :D
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 5:34 AM edit delete reply

Heh, it would be funny if they then DID continue for 40 years of continius attacks. >_<
Stormwind13 1st Aug 2015, 4:11 PM edit delete reply

Well they would have just powered up their reactors to 20/20 and left before that time. :-D
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 7:53 PM edit delete reply

There is something to be said for a prolonged continious attack, not just for tearing down their resources, but also for morale.

Being attacked for 40 years, would leave traces, no matter how weak the attack might be.
Dragonrider 30th Jul 2015, 9:14 PM edit delete reply

Uhhhh Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?

Kill a guard,
And Blow the door.
PRN (Patient Refill As Necessary)
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

yep :D Well at least silver is making it quick
jamie59 30th Jul 2015, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

Knock Knock BOOM nobody there next door Knock Knock BOOM
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

pretty much room to room clearing :D Silver and her pocket army :D

But this shows off exactly why New Troy has a reputation for high tech warfare something the prince might have wanted to consider before poking Cent with a sharp stick.
Dragonrider 30th Jul 2015, 9:24 PM edit delete reply

BTW how soon with the palace laundry, sewer system, toilet paper and clean underwear supply reach overload?
Sheela 30th Jul 2015, 9:28 PM edit delete reply

Considering that Acantha pretty much yelled at Decimus that Centcomm would come knocking with a Drone Army, this is definately something he should be prepared for.

But then, he just might be, we don't know yet.
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:34 PM edit delete reply

and sadly . this isnt even a army.. its four people. and a LOT of drones :D
Centcomm 30th Jul 2015, 9:35 PM edit delete reply

about 10 min from now.
Sheela 30th Jul 2015, 10:04 PM edit delete reply

Well, to be fair, those are cutting edge technology drones as well.

And we haven't seen their response to the attack yet.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:31 AM edit delete reply

I think the overwhelming response has been to drop dead via trauma.
HiFranc 31st Jul 2015, 8:20 AM edit delete reply

I'm thinking that people aren't going to live long enough to respond.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:31 AM edit delete reply

well at least a few got some shots off..
That one guy 31st Jul 2015, 1:34 PM edit delete reply
You know, publicly gifting Decimus with a whole bunch of extra pairs of pants for all the pants-crapping she expects he'll need to do when New Troy comes to get Lynn back does seem like her style of smart-ass.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 1:37 PM edit delete reply

she will have them made in a shit brown color just in case... :D
DLKmusic 30th Jul 2015, 10:13 PM edit delete reply

And THIS is why you never antagonize the nice mad scientist lady who's holding a death ray.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:30 AM edit delete reply

and is willing to use said death ray at a moments notice .. Shes the kinda of gal that shoots the bad guy while hes monolouging
That one guy 31st Jul 2015, 1:36 PM edit delete reply
Shooting the bad guy in mid-monologue is just a bad idea as you never know what kind of bat-shit insane part they were saving for the finale.

Lining up your shot to give them less than a second afterward, sure. Just let them finish to get the info.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 2:38 PM edit delete reply

I liked the bad guy Monolouge in Watchmen..

"I wouldnt be telling you my plan if you had any chance of stopping it .. this happened fifteen min ago.. "

BOOM! Best villain ever!
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 6:18 AM edit delete reply

There's a lot to be said for villains that just kills the hero and be done with it.
Stormwind13 1st Aug 2015, 4:12 PM edit delete reply

Yes, LOTS to be said for them, Sheela. Lots of cursing (Rose, you're up). And calling them cheaters. :-D
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 7:54 PM edit delete reply

But ... isn't Rose the villain that just outright kills the stupid hero ?
Haegan2005 1st Aug 2015, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Rose gave us the idea yeah!
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 7:09 AM edit delete reply

I'm fairly certain she wrote the book on it too.
The Old Scribe 30th Jul 2015, 10:27 PM edit delete reply

I love that understatement: "It's raining a bit,..."
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:29 AM edit delete reply

Thats silver.. Mistress of the understatement.
also shows just how worried she is. Like .. not at all.
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

That made me think of A hard rain's gonna fall. :-D
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 9:24 AM edit delete reply

Ohh, what is this?
Another comic to binge-read. :)
Stormwind13 1st Aug 2015, 4:10 PM edit delete reply

If you haven't read it, sure. Though that comic is done. And doesn't have the comment section this one does. If you liked Luna Star though, you probably would like A Miracle Of Science too.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 7:55 PM edit delete reply

A comic that is finished ?

Like that will stop me from reading it. :D
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 8:46 AM edit delete reply

Tell your friends! :D * insert shameless plug :D *
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 2:40 PM edit delete reply

... you insert plugs?

Holy dang, there's so many explosions. AND RED GUYS DYING. D:

Also I really like the lighting in the last panel O: that's gorgeous!

Oh man. I can't deal with the suspense!

anonymous coward 1st Aug 2015, 12:58 AM edit delete reply
Oh, wait, I think I get this. This is like the game show Jeopardy, the clue is a statement and I have to figure out the question it's answering: How would Decimus respond?
Mark_L_A 1st Aug 2015, 2:18 PM edit delete reply

Hey now waitaminit, I'm trying to talk Cent and Rose into working on a project with me. Don't go volunteering them for more work.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

Well, decimus would say "hahahahahahaha I WILL END YOU" and then he would ...

Now waaiiiiit a minute, Rose is Decimus ?
Haegan2005 1st Aug 2015, 9:08 PM edit delete reply

The conspiracy deepens...
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 7:10 AM edit delete reply

He is naught but a puppet!
Lukkai 2nd Aug 2015, 5:00 PM edit delete reply

If by that you mean, he'll soon have something shoved up his butt, I'd say changes are good that you're right!
Matt Knab 31st Jul 2015, 1:38 AM edit delete reply

The door should be...broken down any minute? ;D
mjkj 31st Jul 2015, 2:44 AM edit delete reply

Broken? it already swished open...
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 7:26 AM edit delete reply

What is worse than a monster in the hall? One smart enough to know how to open the door! Despite your attempts to keep it closed.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

What is worse than a monster in the hall ?

Heck if I know, my house doesn't have a hall!
mjkj 31st Jul 2015, 2:40 AM edit delete reply

Oh, new character...

Does the red on her badge make her a red-shirt? XD

velvetsanity 31st Jul 2015, 8:02 AM edit delete reply

The red on her badge looks like a mix of photo ID portrait backdrop and logos of some sort.

Is that a map of the city behind her? :)
HiFranc 31st Jul 2015, 8:21 AM edit delete reply

Probably is a map of the city.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

Yep its her ID badge. has her picture on it and some other cool info :D

also yes its a map of the city.
cattservant 31st Jul 2015, 4:36 AM edit delete reply

Who indeed?
HiFranc 31st Jul 2015, 8:22 AM edit delete reply

I'm guessing she's the one who makes sure that city runs smoothly as possible on day-to-day basis -- a senior administrator.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:23 AM edit delete reply

Correct shes the Boss lady of this faculty. and right now shes having a very very bad day. BUT shes not military .. shes a civilian - she handles computers and networks :D
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 10:20 AM edit delete reply

I'm thinking of her as the Disaster Preparedness Coordinator for Nova Roma. Responsible for moving resources around Nova Roma in response to various emergencies.

Right now she gets the joy of that plus tie ins with some of military. At least the Cassians, though it seems to be more information than the ability to order them around. Guess it is so they don't duplicate efforts.
That one guy 31st Jul 2015, 1:40 PM edit delete reply
Considering Decimus' habits and reputation, I think "moving resources around Nova Roma in response to various emergencies" probably requires a tie-in to military or police functions (if there's any separation) between 22 & 85 percent of the time.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

It's the equivalent of the 911-call center, isn't it ?
Stormwind13 1st Aug 2015, 4:08 PM edit delete reply

Actually it at least one level higher than that, Sheela.
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 7:29 AM edit delete reply

This location does have military tie ins and yes this location does not have the ability to order cassians around .. Kali is the leader of the cassians and Notcis is her second in command :D
Lukkai 2nd Aug 2015, 5:04 PM edit delete reply

I love her reaction to the news about the Cassian though. The whole exchange, actually.

Now let's just hope she's smart (and lucky?) enough to survive what's coming next. She's looking as good as capable at this point. And while we can always use good looking characters to look at, Nova Roma will also need any capable person they can get in the near future, I think.
DizzasterJuice 31st Jul 2015, 5:37 AM edit delete reply

Yup, a new hawtie!
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 7:29 AM edit delete reply

A new soon to be body on the ground, I fear. :-P
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:27 AM edit delete reply

hehe - theirs always new girls in DC :D
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 10:52 AM edit delete reply

And we thank you for that, CentComm. Especially the pretty girls!

Now does the pretty Coordinator have a name and therefore might survive? Or was she left nameless so you won't feel remorse when you turn her into dog food?
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 12:08 PM edit delete reply

She does actually have a name! :D
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 2:01 PM edit delete reply

Oh good. Then you MIGHT feel remorse if you kill her off. :-D Or she might actually SURVIVE (no, no... that would be too NICE from the evil duo). :-D
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 3:11 PM edit delete reply

Oh come now, it can't be an action moment, if there isn't some action!

She's totally a kung-fu-dance-coordinator!
She'll have Dr Silver bust out those moves in no time!
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 7:29 AM edit delete reply

HiFranc 31st Jul 2015, 8:25 AM edit delete reply

I'm guessing that she'll be kept alive long enough for the e-war drones to be grab her voiceprint and other identifying characteristics so that they can convince the New Rome computer systems that the instructions Silver & Co are issuing to the city are valid.
Hornet 31st Jul 2015, 8:35 AM edit delete reply
Hmm. maybe I should have waited for today to post Green-Jello's 3 Little Pigs.
Anyway is the head controller lady a Cassian???
HiFranc 31st Jul 2015, 8:57 AM edit delete reply

I doubt it -- Nova Roma would never let an android look human.
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 9:24 AM edit delete reply

Shes totally 100% human :D Even Hrist who looks fairly human isn't exactly normal looking at a glance.
Stormwind13 31st Jul 2015, 10:10 AM edit delete reply

She sure looks human to me. Not sure why Hornet thought she might be a Cassian.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 3:12 PM edit delete reply

Well, it *would* be a strategically advanteous place to have a Cassian.
Hornet 1st Aug 2015, 6:47 PM edit delete reply
@Sheela, Correct, More why I asked.
Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2015, 6:18 AM edit delete reply

Ah well that makes sense, Hornet. Though I was under the impression they didn't have that many Cassians that they could 'waste' one by putting them into a purely staff position.
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 7:12 AM edit delete reply

Their low numbers is definitly their main weakness.

They would be great in that position too, realtime update from cassians in the field, and being able to realtime update the cassians IN the field too.
That in turn would mean the Cassians that are in the field would be able to turn up at the most opportune places, exploiting situations as they arose.
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 7:31 AM edit delete reply

there are actually not that many cassians - they do missions from the Palace and a few patrol the city looking creepy but the bulk of the work is done by local police and Military

cassians are like sending a F-15 after a bi plane
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 8:38 AM edit delete reply

Depending on the conditions, a bi-plane would be pretty dangerous to an F-15 ... they have crazy turning radius, and can fly at very slow speeds, so if they could get inbetween some tight buildings / trees, they could EASILY outmaneuver the F-15.

Catching up to it and shooting it, might be more difficult.
Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2015, 9:29 AM edit delete reply

The biplane might not survive the jet wash if the F-15 got near it though. I mean the turbulence might knock it out of the air. If the biplane got any altitude at all, the F-15 could turn it into wreckage. As for the biplane being a threat. The F-15 would be into and out of the range of the biplane's weapons in seconds I think.

I'm not sure it could do much more than dodge and one tiny mistake as fragile as they were... it would be flaming wreckage.
HiFranc 2nd Aug 2015, 1:54 PM edit delete reply

The Swordfish was quite effective against German battleships because their anti-aircraft gunners kept leading too much and could not believe how slow they were going. In the Vietnam, a modified DC3 was more effective against Vietcong positions than jets because they travelled too fast to spot hidden people on the ground.

Whilst it is often advantageous to use modern technology, sometimes old tech works better for a given mission profile.
Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2015, 2:31 PM edit delete reply

As was the Skyraider. That was one of the workhorses of Vietnam (though admittedly not a biplane, of course neither was the DC-3). It's ability to loiter in the combat area though was invaluable in search and rescue.

The problem is that the difference in capabilities between a F-15 and even something like the Fiat CR.42 is magnitudes apart. If both pilots are skilled with their aircraft and fly it close to their limits, the biplane should be toast. The F-15 would just run away, turn and come back from a high position to chop it into splinters. It wouldn't dog fight it, just make slashing attacks until several 20mm cannon shells hit and it would be over.
HiFranc 2nd Aug 2015, 1:55 PM edit delete reply

I guess that most of the royal household would not want a cassian in that sort of position because it would get people used to the idea that androids were superior in some way.
Hornet 1st Aug 2015, 6:47 PM edit delete reply
@Sheela, Correct, More why I asked.
Just_IDD 31st Jul 2015, 10:09 AM edit delete reply
Actually they were pretty clear going in to harm as few people as possible. I'm betting the drones know what guns look like. That isn't even that hard now, image recognition is fairly high if you use a 3d model as the compare point. This is much more advanced society that technology is more than likely portable and small and easy to build into a drone. FoF would just be another layer so we see "friends and guns " = ok and "not friend and guns" = target. What I really wonder is if the drones would attack a red soldier without a gun. They plainly have classed red soldiers as combatants if they shoot before being shot. obviously they are not getting though the shield. So if say a red guy with or without a gun is not shooting at them, will he be defenstrated?
Centcomm 31st Jul 2015, 10:44 AM edit delete reply

I cant answer this yet.
That one guy 31st Jul 2015, 1:45 PM edit delete reply
Considering that Silver's there coordinating them in person, she could easily have the drones set to fire on anything readying a weapon their way or that sent a projectile at the shields and then just manually direct anything past that. With the shields as they are, they aren't in danger unless you get to the class of weapons most sane people don't use indoors.

She was stated to have more than the usual cyber-enhancement and I think they involved at least some degree of speed step-up over normal human.

I second that. I took a couple of days off after the May Day bank holiday weekend. On the evening of the first of those days I found DC. I remember thinking, "I'll just read a few pages then I'll go to bed." In fact, I thought that several times. Before I knew it, it was getting light.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 7:57 PM edit delete reply

*sigh* ... why does this keep happening to me ?

God, I hope not. Never heard anything good about Comcast.

Looks like a large part of the city is going to be one big biohazard. And ouch, that guy on the left took a hit right through the butt! Not that he felt it, or anything else, about 3 seconds later...
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 8:45 AM edit delete reply

yep quick killing by Doc Silver :D
HiFranc 2nd Aug 2015, 2:00 PM edit delete reply

This is my knowledge of Comcast. Given what happened a few pages earlier, that says a lot about Comcast. lol
anonymous coward 31st Jul 2015, 2:24 PM edit delete reply
How did Doc get in, anyway, and why is she walking around in places that could be full of landmines, gas sprayers, pneumatic presses and more unconventional attacks?
Tokyo Rose 31st Jul 2015, 4:55 PM edit delete reply

Dr. Silver's drones shot the guards, and she walked in. Wasn't that hard. :D

Also, it's not often that you find a data center outfitted with landmines, gas sprayers, pneumatic presses, or anything more dangerous than co-workers with poor personal hygiene. She's there to take control of the node and start playing merry hell with the palace's systems.
DLKmusic 31st Jul 2015, 5:45 PM edit delete reply

I can just see a {fixed} Aeneas in the aftermath of Doc Silver's fiddling.... "Really, Veronica? Did you HAVE to reroute the sewage to the central fountain? Was that REALLY necessary?"
anonymous coward 1st Aug 2015, 12:54 AM edit delete reply
It does look like Decimus alternates between imperious overconfidence and hissy-fits of spiteful violence with surprisingly little genuine foresight, it's true. That said, death traps and hardening your fortress with additional security elements just makes sense for the guy who has set up a catastrophe to happen in the event of his death. I mean, he doesn't know who all his curent and future enemies are, or that all of his underlings will remain perfectly loyal; he'll eventually find a use for every possible weapon he can lay hands on.
Pirtnac 1st Aug 2015, 5:40 PM edit delete reply
I've played Evil Genius, and my lair is akin to the guy from SAW being put in charge of a Disneyland renovation.

That being said, if you're a little paranoid you set traps, if you're a lot paranoid you take them all out, because the automatic turrets can get reprogrammed easily enough.
Sheela 1st Aug 2015, 7:59 PM edit delete reply

hahah ok thats just evil Sheela :D

Okay, that is a nice pic!

Not someone to meet in a dark alley, or a it alley either!

Thank you ! :D

On the new Vote Incentive, has anyone else noticed the glow coming from CeCi's navel piercing?

Is that a reflection? Or something else?
Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2015, 6:19 AM edit delete reply

Yes Mark, I did. But it doesn't look like a pattern you would get from a reflection. I wonder if someone (looking at CentComm) will tell us what it is? :-D
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 7:23 AM edit delete reply

Its actually a glow , energy conduit for her inbuilt shields and weapons systems :D

(( helpful cent ))

Glad you like the new incentive ! im going to do more like say one a week :D
Mark_L_A 2nd Aug 2015, 12:40 PM edit delete reply

So it is a conduit or an emitter?

Meaning, does it also emit for her shields. Or is strictly the conduit for them?
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 1:57 PM edit delete reply

Both.. :D Sorry for the confusing answer :D what your seeing is the shield grids and the power lines running under her skin.

I'm beginning to think there is a tech gap between these nations. I dunno what's giving me that feeling. ;)

Maybe the impenetrable shields and drones that are casually annihilating their army.

Another great page! :)
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 7:16 AM edit delete reply

There's a big gap in tech levels.

However, there's also a HUGE cap in numerical levels ... there's a LOT of redshirts.

Maybe this will help

Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2015, 8:10 AM edit delete reply

Oh that made me laugh SO hard. :-D
Sheela 2nd Aug 2015, 8:43 AM edit delete reply

Heh, reminds me of a similar situation, where a starship was attacking a borg-like ship, and the borg-like guys decided that they didn't want to waste weapons or materials on them, so they teleported the enemy's starship drive from the back of the ship, to the front of the ship.

Needless to say, it had a rather .. profound effect, on that starship. :D
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 9:08 AM edit delete reply

heheh yay! :D this is good!
HiFranc 2nd Aug 2015, 2:04 PM edit delete reply

Why "LAZER"? It's called a LASER: Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
Centcomm 2nd Aug 2015, 2:11 PM edit delete reply

because meme people aren't always right? I didn't make this :D
Stormwind13 2nd Aug 2015, 4:39 PM edit delete reply

I think it is simply that people think it looks cooler spelled with a Z, instead of the proper way, HiFranc.
Mark_L_A 2nd Aug 2015, 7:05 PM edit delete reply

It might be intentional to show JUST how backward and technically deficient they actually are.

Kind of like "Air Quotes":
