Ummm . CeCi, where did that Pink Hippo of Happiness come from?
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:25 AM edit delete reply

It came from OVER THERE !!

*runs off*
Fairportfan 9th Sep 2015, 10:46 AM edit delete reply

Or was that a demonic duck of some kind?
Fairportfan 9th Sep 2015, 10:46 AM edit delete reply

Hmm. I posted that from my tablet and didn't notice it came up as "Guest".
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:04 PM edit delete reply

xpacetrue 9th Sep 2015, 10:15 PM edit delete reply

Ha ha! But he say's he's not actually demonic. He just looks that way.

Q: Does the Pink Hippo of Happiness belong to the same Distraction Union as the Demonic Duck?
Mark_L_A 8th Sep 2015, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

Why do I think CeCi either has some damage or she is doing something not quite "Right"?
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:25 AM edit delete reply

I'm thinking she might have become pro-active, and killed off that last group, so Dolly isn't in danger from them.

Alternatively, she has found Nox.
Or Watchdoggy has disabled her.
Guest 9th Sep 2015, 5:25 AM edit delete reply
Yeah something is up, Mark. And I am guessing it is something visual. Dolly's eyes turned then Dolly broke off. So either CeCi is damaged or has collected a bunch of weapons, I'm thinking. CeCi may be remembering the talk Dolly gave her about Mission Loot back in Joleet.
DLKmusic 9th Sep 2015, 7:59 AM edit delete reply

There's a third possibility that no-one has seen.... Dolly could be staring up at Maxus right now.
That one guy 9th Sep 2015, 2:05 PM edit delete reply
I have a hard time seeing an appearance by either Nox or Maxus as not causing some noise effect or speech bubble or Dolly not immediately springing into action upon seeing it.

Not sure what caused the reaction, but I don't think it's anything perceived as hostile or a threat (and Maxus would likely be considered likely either a hostile or a dangerous unknown by Dolly & Ceci with the information they have at the moment).
Tokyo Rose 10th Sep 2015, 5:40 AM edit delete reply

She is totally not standing over there chewing on a dude's severed arm or juggling eyeballs or scooping brains out of a shattered skull and mooshing them around like Play-Doh.

"Sorry Mommy! I'm not sure why, but Big Sis gave me an irresistible urge to write 'I've got your biological superiority RIGHT HERE!' on the walls with freshly harvested New Roman testicles. Something about living vicariously. We should talk to her about it when we get back. [whispers]I think she needs a release valve for some of those centuries of stress."
Sheela 10th Sep 2015, 7:22 PM edit delete reply

Oh my ... that's a pretty gruesome mental image right there.
The Old Scribe 8th Sep 2015, 9:19 PM edit delete reply

CeCi's busy, Mommy. She's squaring off against Nox.
anonymous coward 8th Sep 2015, 11:04 PM edit delete reply
I doubt our protagonists would get off that easy, with Dolly's support Nox shouldn't be that hard to finish off.
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:26 AM edit delete reply

Dolly would hear if CeCi and Nox was fighting ... but she wouldn't hear anything if CeCi was stalking Nox, using Dolly as bait.
Dragonrider 8th Sep 2015, 9:24 PM edit delete reply

#1. VOTE dropped to 17
#2. The terms "I sure am, Mommy" and "These are all dead", used in the same cheerful comment in some polite circles might be considered a bit off putting.
#3. Dolly is showing a bit of "Gallows" humor with her statement about slippery floors.
#4. I told you Dolly was gonna get her hands bloody.

cattservant 8th Sep 2015, 10:17 PM edit delete reply

Mrs. Taylor is already lit!
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:27 AM edit delete reply

By Dolly, no less.

But Dolly doesn't know this.
Lukkai 9th Sep 2015, 7:16 AM edit delete reply

Certainly will save her some time. Assuming a successful return of course.
That one guy 9th Sep 2015, 2:12 PM edit delete reply
With CentComm's level of concern for Dolly's prototype body (and the emotional impact Dolly's loss would be on Calliope), it wouldn't be surprising for more plans than anyone knows about to be on the table. Deep Blue knew what was going on, and as TR has managed some limited communication with Aeneas, it's possible CentComm or Deep Blue have as well. So CentComm may have alerted other AIS as well. Who knows what might be arranged with Luna, as well.

Also, with her level of snooping Rose probably knows enough to want to keep Dolly safe for scientific reasons too, and she's had plenty of time to get New Rome softened up.

Dolly not being safe would be quite the freak accident that would likely throw a massive wrench in a whole lot of plans. More so than Lynn or Acantha, for that matter.
mjkj 8th Sep 2015, 11:52 PM edit delete reply

Oh? What is wrong with our CeCi?

*is worried*

anonymous coward 9th Sep 2015, 1:54 AM edit delete reply
Well, she talks like she's an airhead calling Dolly, "Mommy," for starters....
mjkj 9th Sep 2015, 3:39 AM edit delete reply

Well, that is nothing new - and the norm for CeCi - I was referring to the last panel...

What is wrong with her? why did she suddenly stop talking? why and where did she (assumedly) vanish?
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:27 AM edit delete reply

Maybe she's stalking Nox ?
Haegan2005 9th Sep 2015, 5:05 AM edit delete reply

When children go quiet, they are NOT generally behaving. When Ceci goes quiet, that can get ... interesting.
Dragonrider 9th Sep 2015, 7:41 AM edit delete reply

@anonymous coward: I think her calling Dolly Mommy is adorable comic relief, and still want to hear her call Lynn "Sis".
T1-G3R2501 9th Sep 2015, 11:35 AM edit delete reply
Havent seen Rose or Cent.... something tells me bad things are brewing
Tokyo Rose 9th Sep 2015, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:59 PM edit delete reply

Dammit Cent, Rose is lurking in her cave again!
Haegan2005 9th Sep 2015, 5:57 PM edit delete reply

better then watching a little tail on the other side of my coffee table and wondering if my new pair of slippers are going to disappear like the other four! (glare)

Dragonrider wrote:

It is adorable. And I never get tired of it. :)

Anyway, this term of endearment seems rather fitting considering that Ceci is only a few days old. And Dolly is a much older nannybot in a Momma Bear mode to rescue Lynn. Though, I do wonder if Ceci continues to do this to tease Dolly (among other reasons).
Sheela 10th Sep 2015, 7:25 PM edit delete reply

Oh hey, those slippers are totally hidden in the back of Rose's lair.

.. she might bite, if you try to go in there.
Matt Knab 9th Sep 2015, 3:03 AM edit delete reply

Look what I found! They're all dead now...
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:28 AM edit delete reply

How very unfortunate .. for them.
Haegan2005 9th Sep 2015, 8:37 PM edit delete reply

I take note that dolly took one down, and Ceci is saying that all the others are dead...

Sheela 10th Sep 2015, 7:24 PM edit delete reply

Dolly shot someone too.

I think out of the five, Dolly took out two, and CeCi took three. I'm counting the drones as part of the group.

*Sits in chair crossing fingers*
Please be covered in blood.... Please be covered in blood.... Bad ass moment please!
Hornet 9th Sep 2015, 5:55 AM edit delete reply
Either Ceci is juggling a head or Nox has come knocking..
Lukkai 9th Sep 2015, 7:18 AM edit delete reply

My first guess would be a Nox interruptum. But I could see the blood covered option as well. And the loot one just cracks me up! :)
That one guy 9th Sep 2015, 5:57 PM edit delete reply
The fleshy bits of her hands may be in a bit of disrepair due to plasma caster and (I'm guessing souped up) taser blade.

There was also mention that loading additional protocols for a Black Angel damages the synth brain (which is one of the ethical reasons they aren't supposed to be self-aware). Ceci could be having some cognitive issues as well, and if she does, remember that Marcus has already asked Dr. Silver to keep an eye on her to attempt to keep her from running amok. So she might also be remotely disabled in some way.
Dragonrider 9th Sep 2015, 1:23 PM edit delete reply

*Shhhh Mommy I thought a thaw a douchebag. I Did I thaw a Douchbag And hes all MINE!!! Woasted douchebag for dinner Mommy, Did I Do Good Mommy?

Is there a BIG pause between panel 1 and 4?
That seem to span at most 30 seconds, but it has to be far longer (how else would the 100 seconds shield restore cycle complete)???
Then again, if Ceci was on rampage for so long, Ceci could have massacred several dozen of enemies.
Tokyo Rose 9th Sep 2015, 3:15 PM edit delete reply

There's enough of a pause for Dolly to manually switch the shield to "fast charge" mode (normally not recommended by manufacturer as it may impact the lifetime operation of the device*), as well as eject the power cell from her gun and reload it.

* may void warranty. if you have concerns about your shield's charge speed, please contact an authorized service center. only use Cok-Blok(tm) brand batteries in this device.
Sheela 9th Sep 2015, 4:09 PM edit delete reply

Heh, are the Cok-Blok batteries related to the Mastablastah batteries ?
DLKmusic 9th Sep 2015, 6:01 PM edit delete reply

Dammit Rose, I gotta support that!!!!
chk 9th Sep 2015, 4:19 PM edit delete reply

It seems like an odd time, to me, for Dolly to be thinking about what she'll do when she gets home.
xpacetrue 9th Sep 2015, 8:22 PM edit delete reply

Androids can think and act faster than unaugmented humans (like you or I). And, at the moment, she's not engaged in combat. So she may have the equivalent of some spare CPU cycles to briefly think about something else while still staying focused.

Anyway, she just realized she hasn't engaged in combat like this since Fallon died. That realization, in turn, triggered a realization that Calliope hasn't been herself since Fallon died and so she vowed to change that when she got back. She did a simple "note to self" moment, is all.

This train of thought seems realistic to me and, actually, makes her seem more human.

:Ceci, you can put that man's spleen down now

: OK!!

But can I keep the liver? It's so squishy! *giggle*
Just_IDD 9th Sep 2015, 10:11 PM edit delete reply
I read that as "It's so squishy! Jiggle

If I do this it looks like it's flying!"

Or, to paraphrase another comic I read, "That's odd, his head is way over here and his body is over there. It's almost like they were kicking it around on the floor!"
Sheela 10th Sep 2015, 7:27 PM edit delete reply

Ok .. so this got a bit weird, kinda fast. >_<
Rashala 9th Sep 2015, 9:32 PM edit delete reply

Sorry for your PC problems, Rash. Hope you get that resolved soon.

As for the rage... ::Points toward CentComm:: Get her, she is to blame for ALL problems CeCi has.
