Arianna cares a lot about Maxus and is no doubt beside herself with worry. But beyond that: She's a slave. And without Maxus, who knows what the Prince or her next master will do to her. And without Maxus to keep the Prince in line... Also, I'm sure she's worried for Acantha and Lynn. (She knows what the Prince tried to do to Acantha before Lynn stopped him. And she knows what he did to Julia, doesn't she?)
Yeah, pretty sure she knows all the stories about what Aeneas usually does to intruders. And might be not all that sure that Acantha can keep her out of harms way.
That plus Maxus' uncertain situation plus Democlus facing absolute mortal danger...
There's also the knowledge that she and the guy she wants are the two people that Nox isn't required to keep alive. Add that to years of her watching Acantha try to keep Decimus' head from swelling too much coloring her view of how she might react to Nox. That's going to cause a big drain on her nerves, too.
Arianna may have a bit of a problem going to Aeneas, not aware that Lynn and Acantha have ties to Aeneas, or not really believing the rumors she has heard are true. Other thought there is an explosive in the collar that goes bang if it gets too far from the Palace.
Roma does not use explosive collars. and do you really think Maxus would put a live explosive anywhere near Arianna. he cares for her very very much. Its just a metal collar. and very light weight.
Some portion of the slave owners who would have no moral/personal qualms with an explosive control collar for their slaves would take issue with not being able to witness and directly cause their slave pain and/or death, as well.
So it makes sense that the portion of New Rome slave owners who would want to use explosive collars would be fairly small.
It's extremely illegal to use explosive collars in Nova Roma. It's automatically treated as attempted murder, and punishable by loss of property, imprisonment, or death depending on the number and severity of offenses.
Plus giving your slave a way to take at least one person with him (just embrace them hard enough, press your neck against your target's) does not sound like a good idea to me anyway.
Played a penal legionnaire once in a Dark Heresy game. I was often called the groups last resort frag grenade.
(And the character actually lived, who would have thought.)
Just get on the damn train, girls, willya? There's a human hating Cassian and a ton of Douchebag's bully boys on your tail. I'd take my chances on the Nova Roma MTA rather than stick around for that. Toot, toot, all aboard!
"Train now leaving for Anaheim, Azusa and Cuc ... amonga!"
Far more on her mind? You mean like going into the den of a partially disabled AIS that is insane and kills people on sight?
AIS in front of her, and Nox behind her... and she's expendible: Maxus and Irene might be dead, and Democlus is probably about to die, everything and everyone she's ever cared about is destroyed....
And that ignores the illness she is suffering, DLK. Many which the worst symptoms can be triggered by stress. I can see poor Arianna collapsing in convulsions from the stress. I totally could see the EVIL duo doing that to the girls. Give Acantha ANOTHER body she has to leave behind for the good of Nova Roma. :-/
It wouldn't be a stretch for Ariana to be a member of Damnatio Memoriae (see description in Comic 1226 - Another Brick In The Wall , post date 14th Apr 2015, 11:35 PM). Hell, the only reason Maxus would be unlikely to be a member is the conflict of interest with his duties.
If Ariana knows New Troy everyone behind the disturbance supports Acantha or is wanting to rescue Lynn and possibly knows enough to go in their direction, I can certainly see how she'd consider that a safer option than Aeneas. She could even have a method to signal forces for pickup/protection.
I'm guessing our authors aren't going to do this, but it would fit with the story quite well.
::Hands catt a ticket for a 1,000,000,000 fine:: For keeping CATS!!! CentComm nuked half the planet to get rid of them and here you are trying to bring them back! She finally got free of Am-Com, she wasn't going to let CATS take over! :-D
My Cat, His Lordship, the Count Maximillian Del Gato Del Blanco Del Pain in Del Butt (yes, that really is his full name) has a message for you, Stormwind.
I've spent the last week and a half in cold, sick fear for one of my cats, who hurt his back leg (turns out it's arthritis) and was severely constipated. I celebrate when he has a bowel movement. Speak not ill of cats, lest I smite you with this bag of poo.
Sorry, Rose. I was just playing off of catt's original comment. I normally get along just fine with cats, even giant ones. :-)
Sorry for the arthritis on the kitty though. As for the other, our cat ate grass when she (it) had issues. Of course, there is NO grass in the He11, I mean Phoenix for kitties to eat. :-D
Kyle revealing himself and thus obtaining Acantha's assistance in reaching Aeneas would probably get an ok from Rose. However if it's been an hour since he left and the tram is back, it seems unlikely they'd catch him until after he reached a point where he could start to try to work on repairing Aeneas.
"Oh, did they ever return?"
"No, they never returned."
"And their fate is still unlearned!"
"Oh, they travel forever 'neath the sreets of Nova Roma;"
"they're the three,
that never returned!"
"Dolly and Ceci goes down to the Scollay Square station
Every day at quarter past two
And through the open window they hands The Three That Never Returned sandwiches
As the train comes rumblin' through."
If the tram functions and she believes it will reach Aeneas, getting within his boundary is a great defense against a Cassian, and it'd have to be a slow tram for an android to catch it. The question of who might be ahead would require assessment of greater utility of her guard with her to handle the unknown or behind her to delay Nox. Whoever voluntarily went towards Aeneas presumably feels some degree of confidence about avoiding being killed by him, so a separate guard to handle the unknown seems like a slightly better choice to me, unless the trip is much slower than anticipated and Nox does need to be delayed to allow the girls to reach Aeneas' area of control.
This reminds me of the Mystery Men (1999) movie with Ben Stiller as Mr. Furious, whose superpower is unbound anger, being angrier than anyone ever. -_-
Or it could be something as simple as claustrophobia.
That plus Maxus' uncertain situation plus Democlus facing absolute mortal danger...
As in parking lots ?
Or maybe lots of rabbits?
... horribly mutated killer rabbits!

But we are getting a good idea of where everyone is emotionally, and that is good story telling!
AIS in front of her, and Nox behind her... and she's expendible: Maxus and Irene might be dead, and Democlus is probably about to die, everything and everyone she's ever cared about is destroyed....
Nothing on her mind at all...

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Loving the new version of Dr Demark. :)
"Is this the fucking time to pray?!"
"YES! YES, IN FACT, I THINK IT IS!"
"Pfffft"
(And yes, I've been owned by one of the little monsters before :-D).

I chase them all up into trees. :)
Splendiferous! :D

Oh wait were we not going that route in the rhyming?
Priceless. :)
"Sure, work on it".
*Snerk*
Although there's still hope that she won't lose Democlus... (hint hint, girls, hint hint).

Uh...you're not Anger from Inside Out. I would find a gun. XD

ALWAYS!
Here I am - stuck in the middle with you...

Yeah, if you find a way, Lynn, maybe you could design an angst-thrower?
Yup, Arianna needs to be reminded who is the boss here ;)
...right, Lynn, let us hope nobody freaks when they see Kyle-ghost...
Oh, great, Cent =D *goes to read the new pages*
There is no way Lynn could make it to her 18th birthday without weaponized angst, unless she spent five years in a coma.
Or... are you trying to tell me that weaponized angst is not a gift that all girls receive on their 13th birthday? ;)
