For those wondering why Cent has apparently vanished off the face of the earth recently as far as the comments section goes, the answer is "Fallout 4". Cent's getting a grace period of one week to play the hell out of it, after which normal operations are scheduled to resume.
(Ben update: Due to one of his meds, which is intended to increase intestinal motility and keep him from getting constipated, he is farting. Silently and treacherously. Like, the kind of farts that would make the Pope question the existence of a loving God. Other than that, he's doing fairly well; oncologist is on Wednesday.)
(Update to Ben update: I suspect that it was not the medication after all. After Ben gets his meds, he gets one small freeze-dried duck liver treat. He managed to steal the bag of treats and ate about a third of it before I caught him at it. Liver is an extremely rich food and high in protein. Within about an hour after Ben farted so atrociously that even HE couldn't stay in the room, he went to the litter box and napalmed it with--shall we say, for the sake of decency--the opposite of constipation.)
Hmm. So twenty squads is about how many men? And this is not the boys in blue, who are probably still moving to reinforce the gates or sweeping for the princess.
Using runners can be bad, it takes men off of the front lines. But if it is the only choice, its what you have to do. The Flip side of course is that the building is of limited size and they probably do not have to go far.
A squad in NATO military terms is about 8-12 men, so 20 squads would be about 200. However, this is Nova Roma, so the military force structure might be different. The word "squad" comes from Latin "exquadrare" which means "to make a square". So perhaps as few as 4 men might be considered a squad, but I doubt that is what Maxus et al have in mind.
I've seen squad, depending on context, nation, etc., refer to anything from 3 (heavy weapons team considered a squad in most times I've seen that few men called a squad.) to 12 (though above 8 tends to start acquiring other terms so far as I've read.)
Doctor Silver apparently has decided to do more than confuse and delay guards. Taking over their own weapons and using them on them. Three squads... Messy.
As much as I love Doc Silver, I have a feeling that Noctis and Maxus are about to insure she has a VERY bad day.
And what about poor Charlie? don't forget that she's held up with Doc Silver right now too! (I'm still trying to wrap my brain around Lamod being spoken with a southern accent)
If one unit of the enemies grain is worth 20 of mine, and one bale of the enemies fodder is worth 20 of mine how much are two of the enemies turrets worth?
Prince Douchebag's bully boys are looking for the Princess and Lynn and fighting back against Centcomm's 'rescue squad' as they're attacking the palace.
Maxus is rallying his people to protect the Princess and Lynn and battling Douchebags bully boys in the process.
Doc Silver, TeeDee and the rest of the gang are looking for Lynn and kicking the ass of who or whatever gets their way.
Dolly, CeCi and the girls are on their way to see the wizard and presumably Kyle's trying to fix said wizard.
Douchebag's doing a Hitler imitation, the remaining Cassians are all over the joint doing whatever, the rebels are joining Centcomm's merry men and the citizens of New Roma are looking for places to hide.
Miraiko is going to make Tokyo Rose get her a NEW phone, Sheela. She has had to work with Nova Roma crap for 5 years! Tokyo Rose SO owes her for that. :-D
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same [Rom 13:3 KJV]
That's the ideal, but neither the governors nor the governed live up to it in most cases.
You two should really publish your works some day. I can assure you that I will definitely buy them!
On the subject of Ben, my heart goes out to you. When you have been owned by a cat for so long, said cat IS family, not a "pet". TR, your "quaint" description of the side-effects of his drug sent me into a giggling fit of such epic proportions, that it almost caused me to spill my tankard of coffee on my laptop... lol
(Yes, in the mornings, [for me at least] the minimum acceptable volume of coffee is a "tankard")...
I have been subjected to such a nature of cat farts.
Repeatedly.
I swear my friend's cat does it on purpose. Whenever you annoy her by moving her off something you need to get to, she farts. She's discovered that she can send everyone gagging out of a room almost at will.
I was actually referring to Benjamin, Sheela. That the little guy, in spite of the pain AND the drugs, was strong willed enough to find and steal those treats means that he has a strong will to live, and to fight... That's a good thing...
The fact that Rose discovered this by a series of HASMAT warnings shows GOD's sense of humor.
I think that your latest update on Ben is Awesome, Rose.... I'm continuing to pray for him!
LOL Kitty. Take it you APPROVE of Quintus, eh? :-D
Unfortunately, I fear Quintus might be a bit BUSY for the foreseeable future, Kitty. After the unpleasantness is over though, he might take you up on that. :-)
He simply doesn't understand the whole idea about loving others, they should be loving HIM, dammit!

.. and humor .. her humor is nasty too.
TeeDee loves it! :D
And what about poor Charlie? don't forget that she's held up with Doc Silver right now too! (I'm still trying to wrap my brain around Lamod being spoken with a southern accent)

Lots'a loose ends here, folks. Stay tuned.
She is wearing high tech gadetry and a grudge.
What? And smear her lovely smartphone in blood?
That's kinda weird, innit?
*lol* @alt text, nope he surely does not have...

Here Rose, HAVE SOME CUTE!!
Kittens AND puppies!
Repeatedly.

.... but he loves you?
You'd almost think he was talking about Decimus there. He probably cannot handle money either. :D

It was NOT cheap.
Like, it was REALLY expensive!
I didn't have the money to spare. :(
It's nice to see.
(I'm doing my part! :) )
Quintus, honey, I've got a little room waaaay at the far end of the palace. Should be safe, nobody goes there but me. Here's the key. See ya soon!! ;)
Unfortunately, I fear Quintus might be a bit BUSY for the foreseeable future, Kitty. After the unpleasantness is over though, he might take you up on that. :-)
Poor Noctis will be sad to hear that.
hrmm, well, probably not - We are talking about Noctis here.
