That was a mouthful.
Fairportfan 22nd Nov 2015, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

And she said a lot, too.

O, wait - you weren't talking about her teeth...
Timotheus 23rd Nov 2015, 1:12 AM edit delete reply

Aren't there supposed to be four incisors between the canines on the lower jaw?
Pirtnac 23rd Nov 2015, 2:26 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, Daz isn't really up to date with their dental anatomy. Not much has changed since Victoria 3, probably since up until very recently (yay Iray!) they didn't have a render engine that could do what needed to be done without throwing a fit.

I think Cent is making Samanta fee appropriately predatory, and she's made the lower laterals in to fangs to help with the look. Daz's normal canines are next to them, but by default they look a little round and can be mistaken for premolars pretty easily.

It matches up with where Hollywood loves placing fangs for the reason we see here: They are really easy to see when someone's mouth is open normally, but you need to have a pretty wide smile going on for people to see enough canine to notice. I don't think Samanta is inclined to smile that often.

Were she human, those longer than normal incisors would end up snapped pretty quickly (not to mention her top canines). Since she's a Cassian, I'm assuming they aren't enamel and dentin, but something way more fracture resistant. Hopefully her standing orders aren't to go around biting people.
Centcomm 23rd Nov 2015, 5:05 PM edit delete reply

Yeah her teeth are steel and ceramic and no she normally does not go around biting people .. " much "
Hydrargyrum 24th Nov 2015, 12:02 AM edit delete reply

Well, thank you for not totally dashing my hopes for a vampire Cassian. :-p
Rms2000 27th Nov 2015, 5:27 AM edit delete reply

Is it just me, or is the inside of her mouth absurdly well-lit?
Centcomm 22nd Nov 2015, 11:24 PM edit delete reply

yes it was.. and it fits her mind set so well :D
Dragonrider 22nd Nov 2015, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

We have a Cassion with a penchant for long Soliloquies on the state of human existence? She is much scarier than Nox, and all the rest combined, as well as being probably nuttier than Douchebag.

May the First Circuit protect Ada and TeeDee, they gonna need it.
Stever 22nd Nov 2015, 9:18 PM edit delete reply

Love that close up of her face! Such cool tattoos.
Book O Dragons 22nd Nov 2015, 9:25 PM edit delete reply
Antenor was called a traitor for supporting peaceful means of ending the Trojan war.
I had to look them up.
Tokyo Rose 24th Nov 2015, 4:03 PM edit delete reply

Got 'em right, though. In Dante's "Inferno", traitors occupy the ninth circle of Hell, and it's divided into four concentric circles or "rounds". The second round is called Antenora, after Antenor of Troy (who betrayed his city to the Greeks), and it contains traitors to one's city, country, or another political entity. The fourth round is Judecca, named of course for Judas Iscariot, and it contains those who betray their lieges or benefactors.

Basically, Samanta is calling the rebels exactly what they are, in a strict legal sense--traitors to the city and to the prince.
ProfEtheric 22nd Nov 2015, 9:48 PM edit delete reply

I'm not liking the sound effect at the end of the Cassian's panel. Usually that's something nasty warming up...
Centcomm 22nd Nov 2015, 11:24 PM edit delete reply

heh . you could say that :D
Darobe 23rd Nov 2015, 9:17 PM edit delete reply
It's a spirit bomb isn't it...
Haegan2005 22nd Nov 2015, 9:50 PM edit delete reply

She is long winded its true. Wonder if she is delaying her entrance so that more of the boys in blue go down? We do not know if the remaining Cassians are up to date if what is going on.
HiFranc 22nd Nov 2015, 9:51 PM edit delete reply

Why is she giving a speech in the middle of a battle? Why is that about betrayal? Either she's crazy or she's just received an update on the situation from Noctis. Come to think about it, the options aren't mutually exclusive.
DLKmusic 22nd Nov 2015, 10:04 PM edit delete reply

There is also the possibility that she thinks the opposition are just norms, like most of the Nova Roma populace... the Soliloquy is not only a precursor to her attack, but designed to strike fear in the hearts of members of an andro-phobic society. She doesn't have a clue what's waiting for her, but I'm sure TeeDee will be happy to clue her in.
Tokyo Rose 23rd Nov 2015, 3:27 PM edit delete reply

Talking Is A Free Action is a trope, but since her weapon is warming up, she really does have a few seconds to do it. :D
T1-G3R2501 24th Nov 2015, 2:45 PM edit delete reply
Rose is right it's just like swearing at the toaster to hurry the fuck up 'cept she sounds more poetic.
The Old Scribe 22nd Nov 2015, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

Samanta seems to have misjudged who's she's fighting, hence the reference to traitors and betrayers. She's assuming these are rebels who are attacking the throne and are fragile humans to be speedily dealt with. Ain't she gonna be surprised when TeeDee whups up on her.
Tokyo Rose 23rd Nov 2015, 3:31 PM edit delete reply

She hasn't really misjudged; there ARE rebels in that little group, after all.
Lukkai 24th Nov 2015, 4:21 PM edit delete reply

Mostly rebels in fact. And she doesn't really know about the rest now, does she.
Fairportfan 22nd Nov 2015, 11:07 PM edit delete reply

Is that a quote?
Wolfsbane 22nd Nov 2015, 11:38 PM edit delete reply

She is basically quoting the opening of Dante's Inferno.

Very apt for all of the above reasons that everyone has been saying. We have a very sharp crew.

This really demands music to go with it, like this.
DLKmusic 23rd Nov 2015, 12:02 PM edit delete reply

Dante's Inferno! Good Catch, Wolfsbane!
Tokyo Rose 23rd Nov 2015, 3:32 PM edit delete reply

She is indeed paraphrasing the opening canto of Dante's Inferno, and referencing other cantos as well. Enjoy your internet point. ;)
Alexia Olympia 23rd Nov 2015, 10:30 PM edit delete reply
Such as Father Anderson from Hellsing? I detect the same sort of subtle madness from him in this one...
T1-G3R2501 24th Nov 2015, 2:54 PM edit delete reply
Or you could go the way of the Hellsing abridged.
"Ya know what? Fuck it. Knife..." A. Anderson
mjkj 23rd Nov 2015, 12:14 AM edit delete reply

Oh, let us hope she will receive her update soon...
StellarJay 23rd Nov 2015, 1:20 AM edit delete reply

Did I just see Deci's new captain of the guard reach the end of his term? Can't say I'm sorry about it.
Mark_L_A 23rd Nov 2015, 3:37 PM edit delete reply

Maxus' Praetorian's use the gold chased armor for the Gold Squads. Acantha wondered why Democlus wasn't in the Gold Squad when he took out the two Blueberries in the hallway.
Matt Knab 23rd Nov 2015, 3:28 AM edit delete reply

Hrm, not the usual combat banter, but everyone needs to have their own style. XD
It is certainly intimidating.
DLKmusic 23rd Nov 2015, 11:04 AM edit delete reply

It actually reminds me a lot of Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction...
Now all she needs to add is "Say What one more time"
cattservant 23rd Nov 2015, 5:01 AM edit delete reply

Crisis coming...
Stormwind13 23rd Nov 2015, 6:07 AM edit delete reply

Crisis already ran over you catt!
Stormwind13 23rd Nov 2015, 8:11 AM edit delete reply

Samanta reminds me of Chang from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country with her classical manner of speech.
mjkj 23rd Nov 2015, 3:02 PM edit delete reply

I was more reminded of that feral guy, erm, Nightcrawler, from x-men 2...
Stormwind13 23rd Nov 2015, 3:32 PM edit delete reply

Kurt Wagner... Yeah, I didn't think about him, but you have a good point, mjkj.
mjkj 24th Nov 2015, 3:34 AM edit delete reply

Yup, that one :)
lalverson 23rd Nov 2015, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

I don't know. with what she said and how she said it I'm not sure who she is going to start shooting at.
Centcomm 24th Nov 2015, 2:04 AM edit delete reply

heh keeping you guessing is our job
The Old Scribe 23rd Nov 2015, 1:27 PM edit delete reply

Whoa! Fiery scourge? Warming up? Methinks this Cassian is a walking flamethrower. Uh Oh.
Pirtnac 23rd Nov 2015, 1:44 PM edit delete reply
Okay Cent, how much of that sound effect is due to playing with FO3's energy weapons? :)

Also: Please don't vaporize Ada or TeeDee.
Centcomm 23rd Nov 2015, 4:57 PM edit delete reply

Actually it has nothing to do with Fo4 it will make sense soon enough
Tokyo Rose 24th Nov 2015, 4:57 AM edit delete reply

I'm usually the one who decides on the sound effects, and I've never played any of the Fallout games, so . . . the answer would be "zero" :D
chk 23rd Nov 2015, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

OK, I'm thoroughly confused. Who is Samanta and from where did she come?
Tokyo Rose 23rd Nov 2015, 3:33 PM edit delete reply

She's a Cassian. Noctis sent out a directive for all of her sisters to take defensive positions and try to hold off the attackers.
Stormwind13 23rd Nov 2015, 4:03 PM edit delete reply

Yes, chk. On the page Putting It Together from 7 August 2015, Noctis issued an order for Defensive Mode until further notice.
CptKerion 23rd Nov 2015, 3:36 PM edit delete reply
I think you guys will like this.
I picked up ARK: Survival Evolved recently. I named the first Dodo bird I tamed Decimus.

EDIT: I have now tamed half a dozen dodo birds, all named after Decimus in some way or another. Their stupidity almost matches his.
Stormwind13 23rd Nov 2015, 8:55 PM edit delete reply

Maybe he'll go extinct too, CptK. :-)
Centcomm 24th Nov 2015, 2:04 AM edit delete reply

ok thats pretty funny :D
Tokyo Rose 24th Nov 2015, 4:58 AM edit delete reply

Oh God, please tell me you can get screenshots of a whole flock of Dododecimi.
CptKerion 24th Nov 2015, 10:49 AM edit delete reply
I can in fact get those screenshots. I'm going to have to collect them and line them all up.

You'll like this too, I originally tamed all these dodo birds as a way of farming shit for making compost.
CptKerion 24th Nov 2015, 11:06 AM edit delete reply
Ladies and gentlement!
The fuck... err... flock of Dododecimi!

Unfortunately I lost one to a megalodon that I almost tamed and named Maxus, but I decided to reserve Maxus for something bigger and scarier.
Plus the Megalodon died...

By the way ladies, you're fully welcome to use that image whenever and wherever and however you like.
Tokyo Rose 24th Nov 2015, 3:56 PM edit delete reply

Oh my God, I so needed this. I'm laughing so hard my sides hurt. THANK YOU. :D
CptKerion 24th Nov 2015, 5:12 PM edit delete reply
Imagine this: final confrontation with Decimus in the throne room, he shouts "and this isn't even my final form!" then suddenly "SQUAWK!" *vague attempts at flapping*

Also, glad I could be of service.

EDIT: you know what I'm going to do? When Decimus finally gets his just deserts, I'm going to round all the Dododecimi up and kill them in the most gratuitous manner available to me.
I'm hoping for either eaten by Tyrannosaurus rex, shot by rocket launcher, blow up by C4, or mowed down with a minigun.

EDIT #2:If you ever do the Q&A with the characters again, can Decimus be asked "how does it feel to have the dubious honor of having an entire swarm of Dodo birds named after you and your myriad offensive nicknames?"
Centcomm 24th Nov 2015, 8:30 PM edit delete reply

Ok thats awesome - also sent you a friend request on steam :D
CptKerion 24th Nov 2015, 10:46 PM edit delete reply
You're welcome to chat with me any time you like BTW. Steam and this are my primary forms of social media.
I also enjoy new games.
Wolfsbane 24th Nov 2015, 9:20 AM edit delete reply

With a week still to go and only 300 votes behind, is it possible that we could make the top 10 this month?
Stormwind13 24th Nov 2015, 11:55 AM edit delete reply

I'm voting all I can.
T1-G3R2501 24th Nov 2015, 2:56 PM edit delete reply
