The tissue removed from Ben's leg is a granuloma, a mass formed by immune cells to enclose and wall off a foreign object or infectious organism (like fungus or bacteria) so as to protect the rest of the body. The pathology lab needs to do a series of special stain tests to try to identify what the actual cause is, which will take a few more days, but IT'S NOT CANCER.
