Just a update The new remaining total is now at 523.00 from 1845.00
You guys are unbelievable. Seriously. I .. don't know what to say. Thank you. from the bottom of my heart. Ill try to get thank yous out in emails and stuff
This brings up a fair point. I realize that we are seeming to portray the Roma military and the cassia's as almost idiots.
And thats really not true.
THe roma Military is just not prepared for the raw technical advanatge the troy team has or the amount of battle support .. from Marcus's sniping to Silvers manipulation of the computer systems. Roma is not being attacked by grunts or regular people . Ada Teedee Marcus And silver are literally the best at what they do. And are able to carve a path of destruction and chaos quickly and more or less cleanly. But they spent a lot of time preparing for this insertion. where as the Roma troops are getting fed mis-information and have unreliable comms or are getting orders that make no sense. they are being denyed the one of the main strength of the Roma army and thats manpower. A lot of the best and heavy resistance is being redirected and told to do other things while this is going on. Leaving people like Samata unsupported and way outclassed.
As I see them the Cassians are a special operative type force. Assassins, intelligence, search and destroy, that sort of thing. Being used as front line troops basically negates their best features and reduces them to little more than class 3 battle androids.
I would hardly say Samanta's actions here being idiotic in any kind of way. She had very little to work with, especially when it came to information. She had no reinforcements left to draw upon. She was running out of turrets, out of ammo and very rapidly out of supporting troops as well. So she went for the last resort attack and IT VERY NEARLY WOULD HAVE WORKED!
It was only for Ada's superb reaction and attention that it didn't. A tiny fraction of time later and she couldn't have shot without hitting Teedee. And was close enough to the two to be in danger of sharing Teedee's fate shortly after.
In a lot of ways, Saddam was like Decimus. The way he treated his people, his enormous ego, the "If I can't have it, nobody can" attitude...
Iraq was a force to be reckoned with in that region. Iraq easily rolled over Kuwait. When they eventually retreated, Saddam's "contingency" was to have his army set fire to Kuwait's oil wells.
When Saddam pissed off the West, he thought his elite troops could easily repel any invaders. He couldn't have been more wrong. Of his estimated 4280 battle tanks, approximately 3700 were lost. (over 86%)
Iraq's technology was decades behind that of the Coalition nations. Iraq had been preparing for war with its neighbors. The Coalition nations had been preparing for World War III.
Holy shit! Ada's on a roll! It's always the quiet ones. Now TeeDee's unlimbering her favorite toy and the hole in the Black Palace is about to get a whole lot wider. The Red Shells better haul ass or they're gonna be a thin paste on the walls. The Black Shells? Hey, fuck 'em. :D
I'm not sure that even that attack 'destroyed' Samanta, Old Scribe. If she were human getting sawed in half by a laser at point blank range would likely do her in. We've seen how tough androids are though. I doubt she is still combat effective, but not sure she has exited the stage yet.
With most of her midsection gone, I'd say Samanta's down for the count right now. Her head wasn't affected as far as I can tell, so she might likely be repairable; which is cool because I liked her, sonics and all.
I'd agree that she might not be dead. But is certainly out of the fight unless working as forward spotter, judging from the visuals of the hit.
And unless someone of the reds (the bluebs wouldn't care anyway unless they had a chance of raping her afterwards) manages to carry her to safety, that 'forward spotter' will quickly change 'shot to pieces' as soon as more members of the rebels show up.
Probably because it has a tendency to take out structural support elements in the process. Strangely enough, when it comes to firepower there can occasionally be such a situation as too much of a good thing.
"I'm going to duel them (him) left-handed."
"You know what a hurry we're in!"
"Well, is only way I can be satisfied. If I use my right... over too quickly." :-)
Reminds me of a game where my Necromancer had learned a Resurrect spell, so he would kill stuff, only to resurrect it, and kill it again, until he got bored of them, and then he would raise them as zombies. :D
Oh. My. Well. So busy watching TeeDee blow things away, and Ada trying NOT to kill some of them, I totally forgot that Ada HAS to be just as badass as TeeDee! GO ADA!
Lol okay so I saw that guest strip on the next page and I thought "I coulda SWORN I saw a Centy page last time I looked here"...................so then I actually thought for a moment that I dreamt it X'D. Turns out... I was right there WAS a Centy page!
A centy kick-a*s awesome page :D
Love seeing these two in action!
When I started reading Data Chasers back like 7 months ago, there were over 1,300 pages worth, and it seemed like no matter how many I read, there were always going to be more. I just got used to stopping wherever I felt like it and knowing that if I wanted to read more tomorrow, I could.
Now I am at the latest update and I have to wait for the next installment.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Awesome action so far btw. I can see how all the different story threads are coming together. Very well done.
Ada is awesome! I love the way she snapped TeeDee out of her flashback.
*ZZZZAAAAPOWWWW - pretty fireworks*
"TEEDEE! NEED BIG BOOMZ NAOW! U MUST SAVES US WITH UR BIG, BIG PEW-PEW!" ;) jk
But seriously, blasting a Cassian right in front of TeeDee and then giving her the green-light to use her BFG, has got to be the perfect way to end TeeDee's flashback.
Plus, Ada is being such a bad-ass, right now, that TeeDee wants to have her babies. (or whatever her equivalent expression of stunned admiration is)
I love love LOVE this scene!
Ofcourse, the red ones, the Chaos Marines, are the evil ones !
Is there something you haven't been telling us, Ada ?

Much better to get a medium/heavy combat drone, like Vinnie, for something like this.

...I had hoped that could be avoided... =S
I agree with TeeDee: Ada really is badass...
Oh, wow, The Hammer!!!
Why did they not use it in the first place?
"You know what a hurry we're in!"
"Well, is only way I can be satisfied. If I use my right... over too quickly." :-)
Samantha : "And what is that ?"
TeeDee : "I .... am not left handed!"
*switches weaponhand*
She's got a pretty nice sized first aid kit that she's carting around on her back.
Love that second panel. Amazing effects!
Goodbye Samanta, for the short time we knew you, you made a very good impression, and we will remember you...
Combat androids are fairly tough.
