Due to Cent's current crop of health difficulties, we're having to take a short hiatus. Sorry.
EDIT: I realized belatedly that I really should've phrased that in a way that didn't make everybody freak out.
Cent's on a round of antibiotics to knock out an infection in a tooth, along with anti-inflammatories and painkillers to deal with the (excruciating) pain of said infection. Between the pain, the inevitable consequences of antibiotics as regards natural gut flora, and the brain-fogging effects of the painkillers, Cent basically has the attention span and mental acuity of a wad of dryer lint.
Sorry about the lack of page .. THe infection ive got is kicking my butt hard Im taking anitbotics so hopfully it will go away
in the meantime heres a Christmasa strip done by
Oh, erg. I totally sympathize, Cent. The missus Cal went through a very similar situation for several years before anybody twigged on the why. Once a really good dentist figured it out, tho, the problem as totally done.
Rest easy, and please get well as you're able. We'll be here, for sure.
Ben's healed up well from his surgery, and went through a course of antibiotics as well in an effort to treat the most likely root cause of the granuloma. As noted above, the bad thing about antibiotics is that they can knock out natural gut flora, and Ben really didn't need more disruption in his GI tract. It's caused some pretty loose stools, and he's lost three and a half ounces of weight, which sounds like small change until it's compared to his overall weight; going from 16.35 to 16 lbs is noticeable on that scale (pun probably not intended). This was his last day for antibiotics, and the vet provided me with a probiotic supplement that'll go into his food and hopefully get his intestinal tract repopulated properly. The vet wants to see him again in about ten days to examine his leg again (the antibiotics might well have worked; the fluid swelling is gone other than a very small area) and recheck his weight.
That's really good to hear, Rose! I wouldn't be too concerned about his weight yet though... Antibiotics can affect the appetite as well as the intestines, and he should put it back on without too much trouble soon.
"Cent basically has the attention span and mental acuity of a wad of dryer lint."
Ah Rose always so kind and delicate when it comes to these things lol
Delicacy be damned, I'm aiming for accuracy. The last time I talked to Cent, I probably could have communicated entirely via armpit-generated fart noises and it might have gone completely unnoticed. Cent's on some good fucking drugs.
Freezer gel packs wrapped in a damp cloth have been my salvation. They conform to the jaw line, numb the pain, reduce swelling, reduce circulation in the infected area, and generally just help survive. They can be held on with a gloved hand or elastic bands. People do tend to snicker at them.
Second only to Gout, the worst pain I've ever had has been from an infected molar that went undetected (it was hiding under an old filling) until the pain began on ,guess what, a Friday evening. I cannot imagine how a mouth full of those things would feel. I hope your pain and discomfort is relieved soon, Cent, and you feel lots better.
I haven't posted in a while because of reasons...Cent, I totally feel your pain. I had 4 extracted at once from the upper right quadrant and have 5 or so that need to go with one live nerve that's intermittent provided I don't poke it too often to see if it still hurts...don't ask. Anyway three things...
1) This will sound crazy, but holding mouth temperature milk around that tooth not too hot or cold will help reduce the pain. Whole works best not sure of its the fat-colloids or the calcium. If lactose intollerant, don't spit it out(don't want any pressure differentials) just let it pour out of you're mouth to get rid of it. Milk is non-sugary and not water.
2) lay inclined sore side of the mouth up head above the heart. this works after the bad actors are removed which as you know can't be done until the infection is gone. Both then and now if you have oral bleeding black tea in the white baggies will help soak the blood and promote clotting. After the extraction not only do they provide good drugs, follow all of the instructions for not getting dry socket. Get a ride to and from the dentist, you will not be in condition to operate even a bicycle. After 36 hours I started with Poultry Ramen.
3) Do NOT, under any circumstances attempt or especially succeed in the attempt of removing part of a cracked tooth yourself. If you think you have level 5/5 pain now, this pain will be redefined as 2-3 and you will have a new #5.
After failure to follow recommendation #3, I wanted to beat my head in with a brick. ps: Implementing sterilization with a bic prior to attempting the above will do nothing for infection prevention if there is remaining infection so definitely get that cleared up first.
Cent - Having had a tooth which the dentist said " ... tried to do its own root canal", as well as having a cracked and abscessed molar into which I was convinced he was drilling for oil).
I can only pray for mercy on your behalf.
That said, and with what others have said, I believe it needs to be added that in my nursing practice, I found it quite helpful for myself and not a few patients, to add extra Vitamin C to your regimen. The Vit. C assists the antibiotics in doing their job, and it is a good thing that your system not become depleted. Vitamin C is a water soluble compound which passes thru one's system fairly quickly and thus needs daily replenishment. I my personal experience, I have found that a Gram a day of timed-release Vit. C was most helpful, having tried episodes with and without.
The timed-release thing is important due to the body's normal rate of absorption is not 'all-at-once' and to avoid simply wasting the stuff.
Check with your prescribing clinician to confirm that Vit. C is an agonist - a helper - for the ABx treatment protocol prescribed for you - or - he/she will give their reasons why not.
I will keep you lifted up because I know some of what it has been reported you are experiencing.
I just hope Centy gets better soon! D:
I loved this piece in the exchange, it's very sweet!
Feel better soon!

And while on the topic of health, how is Roses cat faring ?
tl;dr: Ben's getting better. :)
I hope the treatment coming up will put a quick and clean end to your troubles!

Medical science is truly impressive these days, though I can't imagine she's too happy about the change.
