Last panel DUH!!!!!
Tokyo Rose 17th Jan 2016, 9:19 PM edit delete reply

To be fair, Dolly doesn't have a lot of first-hand experience in dealing with Black Angels, so she can't be sure what really constitutes "normal" behavior for them.
Stormwind13 17th Jan 2016, 9:46 PM edit delete reply

And even less in dealing with SPARKED Black Angels. CeCi is in a totally unknown arena. I'm not sure anyone truly knows how she is going to do things.
That one guy 18th Jan 2016, 8:48 AM edit delete reply
Doc Silver suggested that she'd heard of it happening before when Marcus told her about it. Granted, she might've just been mouthing off, needling Marcus, or wanting to seem condescendingly knowledgeable. However it may not be completely unknown territory.
Stormwind13 18th Jan 2016, 10:43 AM edit delete reply

Possibly, One Guy; however, Dolly may not know much if anything about it. She hasn't dealt extensively with Black Angels... and sparking Black Angels even less. :-)
Lukkai 18th Jan 2016, 9:02 PM edit delete reply

I don't think anyone has got any experience with sparked Black Angels. Except the few people working with Ceci and only for the amount of time since she's sparked.

So Rose's has stuff more advanced than Luna is selling. And the Pacific is too wide to guess in that direction.
Tokyo Rose 17th Jan 2016, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

If you've gotten the impression that Shinedo tends toward the subtle (one might even say "sneaky") approach, y'ain't wrong ;)
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:03 PM edit delete reply

Plus, we are talking about Tokyo Rose here ... she might not go with pure shinedo tech, but rather grab the best of the best from around the world and create a one-off suit.

She definitly have the resources for it.
DLKmusic 17th Jan 2016, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

OK, Elephant on the page... Acantha is absolutely right to be freaked out by this. Next thought bubble is probably "How many others nations/states are there that actively want to see Nova Roma fall into the ocean. (and the correct answer is probably "All of them!")

btw, awesome page as always!

"UGH my brother is SUCH A FESTERING DICKSTAIN that now he has like EVERYBODY hating us"
sigpig 18th Jan 2016, 7:37 AM edit delete reply

Festering. Dick. Stain. That's a new one, I may have to use it some time (if you're OK with that, of course...)

EDIT: Would that be a stain from a festering dick, or is the stain itself of such a horrendous magnitude that it festers all on it's own?
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:04 PM edit delete reply

Ah, but Aeneas already told us that there were more players around, than what we thought.
Tokyo Rose 18th Jan 2016, 3:47 PM edit delete reply

Feel free to use "festering dickstain" wherever you feel it to be appropriate. :D

Also, either interpretation could apply; both are equally valid and super super gross.

On a completely different note, as of the posting of this page we are 80 votes away from number #8, and almost 800 above #10. Keep up the voting, My friends!!!!

Kyle sure is deeply involved in what he's doing to not notice that a big door just noisily opened to the room he's in. I hope nothing critical is affected when his concentration is finally broken.
Tokyo Rose 17th Jan 2016, 10:28 PM edit delete reply

This is slightly more concentration-intensive than jerkin' it to droid porn and nude selfies of Lynn. If that had been his bedroom door and his mom just opened it, he'd have a technical website up and both hands in view, innocent as can be. :D
anonymous coward 17th Jan 2016, 11:52 PM edit delete reply
Droid porn? Really?
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:07 PM edit delete reply

The droids look like Lynn.
The Old Scribe 17th Jan 2016, 10:45 PM edit delete reply

Could the powered chair tech be of Aeneas' own design? Kyle didn't bring it with him. If no one is familiar with it, it may have well been constructed by New Rome's AI before it was lobotomized.
anonymous coward 17th Jan 2016, 11:59 PM edit delete reply
First guess: Rose decided it would be a good idea to make sure that industrial accidents, rogue processes, and potential Nova Roma infiltrators didn't kack the wunderkind while he was busy concentrating on the fiddly business of doing things and working his way up to opening a dialogue with Aeneas. It would make sense to me if she equipped him with a range of different self-deploying protection systems, and this one is just your glowy technothrone with shields model. Potentially the current setup has autonomous point defense energy weapons and self-manufacturing smart munitions too, because one thing Kyle is not is an action hero (apparently).
Pirtnac 18th Jan 2016, 1:02 AM edit delete reply
We saw a NT android using something close to this while piloting a doll a little while ago. Since this is one of the first things Team Dolly have found after entering the AI complex proper, it could be a station to allow androids and equipped humans hardwired access for whatever reasons. If true, then it's a semi-standard station that's old enough that Rose would have no problem making sure Kyle could access it. Especially since he was already equipped to do so.

With an AI in good health, Kyle wouldn't have been able to modify anything vital, but as this was until recently a "brain dead" section he had no opposition making changes.

Step one was to switch on the automatic repair systems and link them back to the AI, at which point Aeneas would have noticed Kyle. So we have an AI moving back toward coherent thought and reacquainting itself to parts of it's "body" while Kyle makes sure the repair bots don't start line dancing or whatever until they've fixed the brain controlling them.
Visvires 18th Jan 2016, 6:37 AM edit delete reply
As awesome as some of Aeneas' tech is, none of it will be post-insanity, so all of it should be old enough to be Rose accessible. The door was even Lynn accessible.
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, this is likely a very old chair, and there's likely to be more than one of those around.
Centcomm 19th Jan 2016, 10:42 PM edit delete reply

That is a Nural interface Chair its pretty standard across all the city's.
Sheela 20th Jan 2016, 9:26 AM edit delete reply

Nural ? :D
Phil_ 25th Mar 2016, 9:47 AM edit delete reply
yes, Nural.
Network-uplink remote access location.

how could you POSSIBLY THINK that Centcomm misspelled a tech definition. Shame on you...
Centcomm 25th Mar 2016, 12:59 PM edit delete reply

It could happen! :D
cattservant 17th Jan 2016, 11:49 PM edit delete reply

Ms Rose
should take care
not to be exposed!
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

Rose probably don't give a flying fuck about now, as long as Aeneas is revived.
Stormwind13 18th Jan 2016, 6:26 PM edit delete reply

I doubt she is going to launch fireworks to announce her manipulations of events, catt; however, I'm with Sheela. Currently (especially with Dolly, Lynn and company) she is NOT concerned about them knowing she is trying to get things worked out.
mjkj 18th Jan 2016, 12:36 AM edit delete reply

Indeed, very foreign...

I wonder when we get to know it is he-who-shall-not-be-named...

...and how Lynn is going to react to that. (read: *squeal*)

Just_IDD 18th Jan 2016, 12:39 AM edit delete reply
I had wondered about this obviously the North Americans manage to get it together but you think we would have seen knowledge from before now about Europe England Russia India Japan and maybe Saudi Arabia if not something in South Africa or the African subcontinent. I mean Luna can see everything so you think there'd be more knowledge of stuff going on all the way around the world.
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:13 PM edit delete reply

I think Centcomm mentioned in the comments once, that most of the old world was nuked into oblivion.
So it's mostly neutral and not-so-important states that have survived.
I think it's canon that eastern Denmark and southern sweden have survived with copenhagen as main city, and an AIS named Ariel (the mermaid).

Dunno about others, but I'd guess switzerland is likely to be around as well.

Possibly the netherlands too.
Lukkai 18th Jan 2016, 9:15 PM edit delete reply

Everybody knows that in a thermonuclear war we would just wall ourselves in with gold. Cheese as mortar and choco for insulation. No way anything could get through that.
mjkj 19th Jan 2016, 12:56 AM edit delete reply

EuroCon was mentioned in Comic, I believe.

And I guess Australia might have been spared by the nukes and the resulting falloff...

Centcomm 19th Jan 2016, 10:46 PM edit delete reply

There were a lot of factions during the wars AM-COM was the largest in the US , There is also the Euro-Combine And others Russia kinda got decimated. as did China England kept to itself most of the European country's that survived became massive corps and started the Corps wars. Those are still going on as of 3825

Luna stays out of Terran politics as much as possable.
Haegan2005 18th Jan 2016, 4:59 AM edit delete reply

Interesting! I'm kinda surprised no one has tapped the emergency release button to get him ejected safely so that they can have sheela bite him.

I may be mixing u p the story lines...
Stormwind13 18th Jan 2016, 10:45 AM edit delete reply

They have only just got access to him Haegan. Give it time. Currently they are moving cautiously, because they don't KNOW it is Kyle (since he did, you know... DIE... :-D)
Sheela 18th Jan 2016, 3:14 PM edit delete reply

I *AM* ready to bite him though!!!

... y'know, just in case he moves .. or twitches ... or anything !
DLKmusic 18th Jan 2016, 5:27 PM edit delete reply

what does Kyle have to do for you to give him a break, Sheela, save the world???? wait, he's already doing that and it isn't good enough....
HiFranc 19th Jan 2016, 5:57 AM edit delete reply

To have visited Lynn rather than have waited for her to visit him?
Haegan2005 18th Jan 2016, 5:35 PM edit delete reply

Sheela might just give him licks if he tastes like chicken!
Matt Knab 18th Jan 2016, 5:28 AM edit delete reply

Stever 18th Jan 2016, 9:50 AM edit delete reply

I'd be nervous too. I think when your worried about someone, your imagination tend to run away with horrible scenarios.
KarToon12 18th Jan 2016, 1:34 PM edit delete reply

You know she's not herself because she's calling her "Dolly" and not "mommy".
mjkj 19th Jan 2016, 3:13 AM edit delete reply

Well, but only when they were alone...

I doubt CeCi would call her mommy right now - unless she had confirmed that beforehand...
