Revolution is in the air. There's a song in there somewhere. (Doubt it will make Hiz Imperial Douchieness's Top Ten list of All Time Favorites though.)
"they say revolution fills the air
i'm dancin' in my underwear
cos' i don't care
hey diddle diddle
the cat and the fiddle
piggie in the middle!
do a poo poo!"
If the judicial system is willing to support the decisions that Decimus wants then Acantha will need to appoint new judges to make it more likely that justice is actually done in the courts.
{edit} Now I'm having flashbacks to the old film Judgement at Nuremberg.
Oh, I got in big trouble back in high school for doing my social studies term paper on how the Nuremburg Trials had literally destroyed all semblance of traditional international law and accepted convention and replaced it with victors interpretation. My teachers didn't like my pointing out the allies were as equally guilty of every crime mentioned, including Eisenhower's POW death camps, Patton and MacArthur's hostage slayings, the Russian holocaust, the French participation in the final solution, and the British terror bombings, to name a few.
Let's be honest: What was dealt with at Nuremberg for the most part was exactly what the prosecutors called it.
Neither that only a small part of the culprits and only from one side in the war were judged, nor that the whole thing was meant to become a symbol (of what I'll leave to everyone's interpretation) will change that fact.
And to HiFranc:
Depends on how that engineering took place, really. If it was by way of "Do, or else!" directed at judges otherwise doing their jobs just fine, she won't have to do that at all.
And I actually find that to be highly likely.
From the page Optimism, I suspect that they're acting under Max's orders. After all, we know that the Cassians have orders not to interfere with the New Troy team.
No HiFranc. If you point at the pictures (in a regular browser) it has the text, "Of course there are rebel sympathizers among the regular army. Decimus is a shitheel."
Oh, you mean the alt-text? I'm on my phone in bed so can't read that at the moment. After all it's coming up to quarter past 5 in the morning. Sub text, as my Creative Writing tutor keeps reminding us, is something that is not said (and is barely hinted at).
0425 was the time Noctis entered Maxus’ suite, it was about 0426 when she surrendered to Maxus I would think and very shortly thereafter that they formed their alliance.
0425 was also the time that Ada, TeeDee and the rebels encountered Samanta, Blue Dick and the others. It was at about this point that orders were going out to NOT fight the New Troy ‘invaders’.
At 0430 the fight was over, and Ada was trying to save Merek and Bishop… plus Samanta.
At 0435 Dolly, CeCi, Acantha and Lynn were approaching Aeneas’ zone and the protection. So it was probably about 0440 when they started looking for food and relief for Kyle in his stealth suit.
At 0440 Douchimus and Kali were trying to get into the oddly overprotected ‘maintenance’ door.
So at 0440 when this little snarl is started it has been less than 15 minutes … and there are no Cassians in the area to relay Maxus’ orders to his soldiers with Dr. Silver's virus turning the comm system into nyan nyan cat.
Agreed HeSerpenty... It is a lovely (in a violent kind of way) page. Laetitia looks great, CentComm.
I can't imagine being a woman in the military with the rabid Blueboys running around and Douchimus protecting them. Sounds like something out of Nazi Germany. :-p
That is pretty close to the truth. I remember reading, in a book about the White Rose resistance group, about an incident that happened at the university Sophie Scholl studied (I believe it was the University of Munich):[1]
A senior member of the Nazi Party came to give a talk. He said that it was the duty of all women in Germany to marry and have children. He then said something to the effect of, "If any of you are too ugly to find a man, I'm happy to oblige." At that point he took down his pants.
[1] The White Rose resistance group were a group of German students who tried to peacefully resist the Nazis during the Second World War. Sophie Scholl was executed for her part in the group.
Holy shit, for real? Boy, and these days over in the USA we've got students whining about how they need "safe spaces" to hide in while people who think differently from them give guest lectures. O_o
From what I can recall. I just had a look at the book, the chapters don't have names and I can't remember the name of the speaker so the index was not much use. I read it in this book. I was inspired by this film.
I found it. I got some details wrong (for example the pants) so I'll quote the book:
Chapter 15
On January 13th, 1943, for the first and last time in the Third Reich, university students rose up in protest.
[...]
The disapproval egged Giesler on. He shouted up at the women: "The natural place for a woman is not at university, but with her family, at the side of her husband." The girls here, he said, should be fulfilling their duties as mothers instead of studying. [...the audience gets louder...] Women, he bellowed above the din, should present the Führer with a child every year. Then, with a grin, he added, "And for those students not pretty enough to catch a man, I'd be happy to lend them one of my adjutants." He leered, "And I promise you *that* would be a glorious experience!"
Summary of what happened afterwards.
The students got away with their protest and the White Rose resistance took heart from that.
These people are doing an awful lot of yelling speeches for people who should be concentrating on tactics and aim. That part of comic-book "action" always bothered me.
I know that it's somewhere between hard and impossible to do action in a static medium like comics ("sequential art") and you're doing the normal thing here with battle-oration. I understand this is the normal thing to do in comics for many important reasons, like setting up audience expectations, characterization and establishing relationships between the characters that explain their actions. Generally, and definitely specifically in this case, the audience needs that text to understand who is fighting, and why, or else you're just rendering a firefight--a tale of sound and fury--without any of the sound and the fury reduced to mere hints rendered through written onomatopoeia, posing, rendering of furious things like explosions, speed lines and projectile-path traces and a few other graphical artist tricks.
Even knowing this, I still wish that everybody who tries to give a speech in combat gets shot, or otherwise stopped, and doesn't get to finish the speech. Comic battle oration is unrealistic at best and often visually stupid. People in a real fight need that breath to run, jump, duck, tackle, hit, scream orders and warnings, or to keep it controlled so they can aim and hit their intended targets with ranged weaponry.
While I do imagine them doing this while ducking in and out of cover (or behind an energy shield), I can actually see them doing the speeches in this case.
And, yeah I know about the troubles with female models somehow often getting less armour than their male equivalents. But still, our dear Lioness' armour looks a bit hastily (and not completely) thrown on anyway. So my head-canon for now simply is her not finding the time to retrieve her helmet as well before running out. ;)
That or it took a bad hit that didn't go all the way through but led to her dumping it.
Yes you are correct in a few instances - She is wearing a armor weave body suit with anti laser and anti ballistic cloth , Shes also wearing part of her armor in regards to her outer set. She did not have time to get her helmet or the rest of her suit. but shes as protected as the normal Roma infantry :D it just looks different.
Charis and Katrine get formally intro-ed on Wednesdays update
I'll give it that at least they're short speeches, on both sides. I really wish these people trying to yell while they're aiming would disastrously miss though. I'm thinking something like a bit of lethal 'friendly fire,' a moment of well-deserved embarrassment, and then they choose whether to concentrate on either leading or aiming after disastrously failing to do both at once.
Soo... Kylie/Charis is not wearing an army uniform, if I see that correctly. Neither do I get the feeling she's from Damnatio. Or is she? If not, that leaves me with the question: What's her usual job and what organisation does she belong to?
And I get a really wide smirk whenever I look at Dust's panel. (^_^)

Awesome page as always!
yeah, they pay me to NOT dance.

They still let Uwe Boll make movies.

Thank you, Cent.
I like her.
Allright, cool, what is rare in the army?
"Not just a female," ok, ok, cool, it's a male dominated thing, we get it!
"But an officer"
.
.
.
WTF ?
Officers are rare in the army ?
No wonder it's being taken down so easily!
Jeez, talk about a lack of leadership!
On a sidenote : Beef is tasty!
EDIT: Rewrote the narration box. Hopefully the meaning's not as vague now.
Still, now that I no longer have beef with it, we can keep the beef for ourselves. :D
*throws Rose a pound of flesh*
Side note Pc FARKED AGAIN!!!! taking ot techs.....Rose please dispatch your agents to fix this!!!
