Hahaha!! Ok :)

Spoiler: In the next strip, the bodies finish hitting the ground.
MikeLinPA 19th Feb 2016, 9:57 AM edit delete reply
the bodies never finish hitting the ground...
Visvires 19th Feb 2016, 10:18 AM edit delete reply
Ok. Fair point. In the next strip, THESE bodies finish hitting the ground.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

Some how I knew that was going to come up.
Lukkai 21st Feb 2016, 7:22 PM edit delete reply

Heck, I would have linked it if Sheela hadn't done so already! :D
Haegan2005 18th Feb 2016, 9:12 PM edit delete reply

Four strikes and they are out! new Rome plays odd baseball. Must be a Sheela game invented for playing with Kyle! :D
Sheela 20th Feb 2016, 2:12 AM edit delete reply

We are pleased with the test results, and hope to have the real game start REAL soon. :)
DLKmusic 18th Feb 2016, 9:12 PM edit delete reply

Ireland posted at 10, Italy gave it a ten, but Hungary gave it a 9.9, deducting 1/10th of a point for making noise while landing..

Hungarian judges. @$%@^@##$@#&$%^#@#!
anonymous coward 19th Feb 2016, 1:56 AM edit delete reply
Be fair, that is an accurate and legitimate complaint by the Hungarian judge. Since the allowable ratings they can give are only in increments of a whole tenth of a point they couldn't give any less of a penalty than that, and they did note an actual flaw in the performance there which we can hear in the playback. Besides, they drop the lowest and the highest ratings before working out the average, meaning that 9.9 gets dropped anyway. So take a few deep breaths and relax, eh?

On behalf of all the unappreciated administrative support types out there

anonymous coward 19th Feb 2016, 1:59 AM edit delete reply
Disemboweling the deserving usually isn't in the job description for administrative support, is it? If it is maybe I should reconsider my career path.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:13 PM edit delete reply

Combat filing is one of her special skills - right now shes filing these guys under dead.
Lukkai 21st Feb 2016, 7:23 PM edit delete reply

There must be a way for me to use that kind of line somewhere in our SR game. :D
jamie59 18th Feb 2016, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

Quintus does it have anything to do with her going for center of mass & slicing through body & armor with no effort?
To bad she didn't have the joy package installed.
anonymous coward 19th Feb 2016, 1:50 AM edit delete reply
The joybits are wasted mass and volume with the added negative of an unnecessary vulnerability if you don't have any plans to use them. It's not like there are very many people in Nova Roma who'd really wanna get busy with one of the Cassians anyway.
sigpig 19th Feb 2016, 8:35 AM edit delete reply

Although those who WOULD want to "get busy" would have to a) be capable; b) be DEEMED capable; and c) be ready for the ride of their life (because it could end immediately after, if not during, like the mating habits of the preying mantis)...
Sheela 20th Feb 2016, 2:13 AM edit delete reply

Seems like Malati did have the joy package.
And had some fun with the Gladiators.
Lukkai 21st Feb 2016, 7:25 PM edit delete reply

I must say, I'm pretty much with Quintus on this one.
Stormwind13 18th Feb 2016, 9:25 PM edit delete reply

Somehow, I think the hidden text on this page MIGHT not be right. I just think Quintus is lying about his feelings for Noctis. :-D
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:12 PM edit delete reply

maybe... :D
Tango Xray Actual 18th Feb 2016, 9:46 PM edit delete reply
Messy boo-berries in your kitchen?

No problem! In a flash, it slices, it dices, it juliennes....

I just can't get the old 'veg-a-matic' pitchmen's live presentations in the Sear's aisles or at the endcap of a supermarket in the early 60's outta my head... lol!

What's a gratuitously violent not-a-cliffhanger among 'friends?' Though the opposition may not recover from their heart attacks. I take good Captain Canoi is being left as a treat for Laetitia Sapiro
Mark_L_A 18th Feb 2016, 9:52 PM edit delete reply

I would want Noctis to teach proper sword usage. No wasted motions, just slice dice thank you for calling Buh Bye.
DLKmusic 18th Feb 2016, 10:38 PM edit delete reply

If they live through this night with Acantha on top, Noctis may very well have a new duty teaching swordplay to imperial elite soldiers.

Democlus would have stood better ground against Nox with such training.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:12 PM edit delete reply

Noctis does not use standard sword work it relys a lot on her insane speed and inhuman accuracy.
cattservant 18th Feb 2016, 10:55 PM edit delete reply

A sea change!
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:11 PM edit delete reply

The Old Scribe 18th Feb 2016, 11:09 PM edit delete reply

I can't help thinking about those lines from 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll:

"One, two! One two! And through and through
His vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead and with it's head
He went galumphing back."

I can't see Noctis galumphing, or collecting heads for that matter, but the vorpal blade and snicker-snack bit sure fits.
Dragonrider 18th Feb 2016, 11:20 PM edit delete reply

Wonder if instead of heads she'll contribute to the bag of dicks TeeDee's collecting?
Tango Xray Actual 19th Feb 2016, 1:09 AM edit delete reply
lol - No, Noctis would definitely NOT galumph
Guest 19th Feb 2016, 5:04 AM edit delete reply
*clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*

very good!
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:04 PM edit delete reply

Oh yes sinker snack indeed.
anonymous coward 19th Feb 2016, 12:31 AM edit delete reply
Wait, wait, for her to look like a lotus she'd have to be considerably more unclothed than this when Quintus sees her fighting.
Kinky, perhaps disturbingly so.
Tango Xray Actual 19th Feb 2016, 1:10 AM edit delete reply
Fan service vote incentive!!!
Dragonrider 19th Feb 2016, 1:21 AM edit delete reply

Forget that idea, she never got the fun factory upgrade. Nothing to see.
anonymous coward 19th Feb 2016, 1:44 AM edit delete reply
That's high on the list of reasons why I thought it was disturbingly kinky.
notStanley 20th Feb 2016, 12:44 PM edit delete reply

While the battle design omitted the internal "joy bits", was the external form chosen back when they were working for a more normal administration in the role of maintaining the peace and protecting the citizens, it was easier for folk to feel comfortable around them if they did not look like obvious war machines with sharp pointy bits?
Tokyo Rose 20th Feb 2016, 4:06 PM edit delete reply

In accordance with New Rome's long-standing laws regarding android design, the Cassians all have decidedly unusual appearances, but most of them were intended to be, at least, not overtly threatening. :D
Timotheus 19th Feb 2016, 1:23 AM edit delete reply

I always dislike that phrase "No wasted movements." There are always wasted movements as one person has to set up or respond to the other person's actions. The only way to avoid having wasted movements is to control both sides of a fight so it is perfectly choreographed, which isn't really a fight.
What you can have is "Unnecessary movements". (There is a difference)
anonymous coward 19th Feb 2016, 1:46 AM edit delete reply
Well she does control the whole fight by acting from surprise with so much speed her targets can't effectively respond.
Gilrandir 19th Feb 2016, 12:07 PM edit delete reply
That presumes that "set up" or "response" is "waste" -- a point I do not concede. If they serve a purpose -- and I suspect most serious artists would assert that they do -- then they are not 'wasted'.
Sheela 20th Feb 2016, 2:19 AM edit delete reply

The better you can predict an enemy's movement, the less wasted effort on your own part.
Thus a very skilled fighter will waste less energy, and can therefore fight longer.
This is important.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:04 PM edit delete reply

That was mine and Rose's choice. I like it it may not be 100% accurate but it works :D
Speedy Marsh 31st Mar 2017, 9:11 AM edit delete reply
I dunno about "no wasted movements", but there were certainly some no waisted movements.
Evervigilant 19th Feb 2016, 3:35 AM edit delete reply
What I find even more impressive than her display of martial skill is that she managed not to get a single drop of blood on her, or mess her hair up.
Stormwind13 19th Feb 2016, 7:23 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, EverVigilant that is a SCARY level of skill. She doesn't look like she has been fighting at all. She looks AWESOME in the last panel! Great job, CentComm.

Oh and I just had a thought (scary I know). I don't think that thmp is Noctis landing. I think that is the last of those Blueboys' bodies hitting the ground! If the floor is carpeted it would absorb most of the sound.
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:03 PM edit delete reply

She is so good they didnt even get the chance to bleed on her :D
Karyl 19th Feb 2016, 5:38 AM edit delete reply
If Noctis were to make any noise, it would be much like the cat who decides in the middle of the night to run thru the house with extra gravity--purely for the effect while setting everyone on edge. :)
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:03 PM edit delete reply

Oh yes she is not blind to the effects of her actions :D
KarToon12 19th Feb 2016, 7:48 AM edit delete reply

Now she just needs an explosion behind her to cap off the finishing move. XD
jas 19th Feb 2016, 8:32 AM edit delete reply

And Power Rangers music jamming!

Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:02 PM edit delete reply

hehe is this a bay movie now ? :D

Sheela 20th Feb 2016, 2:20 AM edit delete reply

.. around the bend.
Phil 19th Feb 2016, 10:59 AM edit delete reply
I would be very, very disappointed if there is not some kind of Quintus+Noctis wrapup segment
Gilrandir 19th Feb 2016, 12:09 PM edit delete reply
What? Where Noctis 'wraps up' Quintus? ^_^
Lukkai 21st Feb 2016, 7:30 PM edit delete reply

He's probably more thinking of "wraps around", but there are parts missing for the whole way here.

On the other hand: A relationship doesn't necessarily have to have a sexual component.
Gilrandir 21st Feb 2016, 9:02 PM edit delete reply
If she uses the other hand, it could have a sexual component, even without the "joy package". ^_^
DizzasterJuice 19th Feb 2016, 12:45 PM edit delete reply

I know I've said this before but you have the coolest special effects out of any 3d comic. What did you use for the gunfire in the first panel?
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:02 PM edit delete reply

Its a volumetric fire set from Daz not sure what its called. Ill have to look it up - I paired each one with its own point light - I think there are like 20 point lights in this scene.
mjkj 19th Feb 2016, 2:39 PM edit delete reply

Woah, go Noctis :)
Steven-Vincent 20th Feb 2016, 8:32 AM edit delete reply

I find myself wondering what would happen in a Noctis vs. Ceci fight...
CptKerion 20th Feb 2016, 10:23 AM edit delete reply
Ceci would win with several new holes.
sigpig 20th Feb 2016, 12:43 PM edit delete reply

I forgot to mention how much I love dynamics of Panel 1. Especially the "Matrix bullet-time" move to avoid getting her left... pec(?) shot off. Such an amazingly fluid and dynamic pose!
Centcomm 21st Feb 2016, 6:01 PM edit delete reply

Thank you sig!
Lukkai 21st Feb 2016, 7:31 PM edit delete reply

Gotta give that blueb credit for his quick wits and reaction.

Not that it helped him any. Still impressive.
CptKerion 20th Feb 2016, 5:13 PM edit delete reply
she looks so happy to be disemboweling those guys right now.
Speedy Marsh 31st Mar 2017, 8:56 AM edit delete reply
She's happy to be helping them. They had their heads so far up their backsides, that their only path to enlightenment was thru disembowelment.
