As a bit of an amateur comedian myself, I can take a stab at this: If you're trying to tell a really funny joke often they involve saying something horrible, disgusting, or incomprehensibly weird. When I tell jokes like this I find it is imperative to keep a straight face to play up the dynamic tension between the neutral expression and the bizarre material.
Say what you will about whether or not Noctis means for this to be a joke, but Decimus' thugs being rolled up by an artificial person after all the Nova Roma propaganda about how artificial people are worthless abominations... is pretty funny.
Because then, it would be Rose, not Noctis !
I like both, but only Rose have feelings and Words ...
Noctis is all for its Mission and Goals.
I don't know how fun would be a night out with her... ?
With sufficient planning, preparation and resources any operation can succeed. If she felt the need to take 'fun night out' seriously as an important operational goal she might just surprise you.
My theory is a bit more simple and a bit more sad.
It ultimately boils down to "no one said thank you" but is much more complicated than that. You'll notice how they're talking about her like she isn't there, or as if she were some kind of uber-murder-toaster. Not a person.
I think you nailed it CptK. People aren't used to thinking of the Cassians as PEOPLE but as weapons of terror in Douchimus' arsenal. Because of the madman holding their leashes (in a choke hold) no one DARES get close enough to find out differently.
I'll take "Whichever side isn't slaughtering us" for $200.00, Alex. :D
Noctis is dutifully following Doucheimus' rather ambiguous orders. She's just putting her own spin on them 'For the glory of Nova Roma' and not for the Praetorian bully boys.
I think it was "For the glory of the throne". Of course, the praetorians don't exactly enhance the glory of the throne whatever Decimus's diseased mind might think. However, the throne would be more glorious when someone else sits on it.
I know why she's not talking, and it's a really simple reason. Eyes towards the enemy! If she's not done killing yet then it's not time to face towards neutrals and friendlies yet either. It seems likely she has a whole lot of bloody knife work to do still and not nearly as much time to do it as she wants if she's slow about it.
Indeed, if only our stunned crew of gossipers had the presence of mind to seize this opportunity to get to work on the other blueshells in the area. Noctis' to do list is really long and she could use the help!
I love the chevrons pointing directly to Charis' SLT covers in Panel 2. However, can they really be Stealth Laser Turrets if they have arrows pointing to them saying "Look at me! Look at me!"...
That's the white-head, right? I never would have noticed those chevrons if you hadn't pointed it out because it's a dark colour against a dark colour.
I'm also not sure how the features pointed at are known to be stealth laser turrets either, how do you know?
Too true, Kitty. The problem is that to a lot of people the Cassians ONLY follow Douchimus' commands. Remember back when Kali found Acantha after Douchimus' attempt to rape her? The one guard thought that Kali was Douchimus' sock puppet. Found out otherwise the HARD way. I imagine that his attitude is far from unique.
Here Noctis is killing the Blueboys, so what warped order resulted in that result? And what orders does Noctis have for the rebels? The Cassians have a reputation for some horrific tortures. So the rebels are likely wondering what is in store for them.
I love that Noctis means night, and that she wears black, but is white.
She's played this game of chess, both as a black knight and a white knight.
With her sword, she made short work of giving the black-hearted crooks (black rooks?) the long blade-kiss goodnight.
She even acts like a chess knight, never moving straight like other pieces, always adding a twist of the unexpected.
Ceci has taken on a stony demeanor, like that of Noctis, since the youthful, Malati-like part of Ceci is gone (for now). I'd love to see what would happen, if Noctis crossed paths with Ceci.
All the characters in this comic are so well thought out, and Noctis ranks right up there with the main cast.

Now that Malati is dead, Noctis has no emotions left.

This had me laughing. Thank you ladies!
Coincidentally, it's also called "being on Noctis' good side". :)

... or maybe even the cat!
Cat, thy name shall be Empress!
Besides, Noctis tends to be very .. goal oriented.
They are totally confused =P
Go, Noctis!!!
Noctis wouldn't actually say that, but just imagine the effect it would have...
Medic: They're unharmed, no neural damage or toxins detected, but they seem frozen in position...
>:=)>

TeeDee wants some !
They could also known as "Tokyo Rose's Fancy Tits" ! :)
More like, "SO done with Decimus and all of his crap."

Love this page~ :D
