Two things... DAMN Charis looks good in that last panel. And couldn't you get her a REAL gun? I mean, that toy couldn't stop much more than a battle tank... :-D

Edit - Third thing... LOL Rose. LOVE that line about thanking a Cassian! :-D
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:17 AM edit delete reply

Heh, but it DOES beg the question : How does one get around thanking a Cassian ?

I mean, Malati would have been easy, you could just give her a ticket for the next arena brawl, and maybe a backstage pass, and she'd be happy as a pig in mud.

But Noctis ? She's so foreign to normal people, you never know what she wants.
Heck, she's probably happy as long as you don't take her apart (Warning : AAAURGHH!!), but you'd never know, because she'd never tell.
Lukkai 5th Mar 2016, 3:43 PM edit delete reply

I'd say treating them well and as actual people (laws might say they aren't fully, they've got feelings still) does go a long way.

Further than that? Do your duty and do it right. And always have an eye out for a Cassian in need of a little help. Or things that might be of interest to them.

Other than that, I can't really think of something myself now. Would have to ask the Cassian in question as to her hobbies.
jamie59 3rd Mar 2016, 9:06 PM edit delete reply

Pick um up when you can.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:21 AM edit delete reply

Life is short, no time to waste.
Besides, a romantic dinner probably sounds pretty good right about then, even if it's a bit of an awkward time to bring it up. XD
Dragonrider 3rd Mar 2016, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

Wait until Noctis comes in and uses the radio...Cliffhanger again. Is she going to call the rest of the Cassions and order them to help the rebels, or declare her allegiance to Acantha to the Rebels and Trojans or set up a meeting with Max and the Rebels and Trojans? BTW offering her a Lube, Oil and filter as thanks, might not be the best idea.

Oh in the Datachasers Tarot who's gonna be the Death Card, Dolly, Ceci or Kali? They all three qualify as death on wheels however only Dolly has the Rebirth aspect of Death.
xpacetrue 3rd Mar 2016, 10:32 PM edit delete reply

The choice for Death is pretty obvious if you think about it, particularly if you know mythology or religions. You do know that Kali is named after... Kali, the Hindu goddess of death... right?

Anyway, I think it's a safe bet that Kali has many, MANY more bodies to her name (directly or indirectly, as head of the Cassians) than either Dolly or Ceci. Heck, Ceci is only a few DAYS old. And while Dolly is pushing 70 or so, I don't recall an age given for Kali.
Dragonrider 3rd Mar 2016, 11:46 PM edit delete reply

@xpacetrue: A quick note here about the meaning of the Death Card, it means much more than physical death, it also represents resurrection, life and purity, it is more associated with a change in circumstances than an actual physical death. A bit more in depth on the Death Card can be found here.
Hornet 4th Mar 2016, 6:19 AM edit delete reply
Kali would be more associated with the apocalypse that just simple death.
Centcomm 4th Mar 2016, 3:00 PM edit delete reply

We haven't decided the cards yet on what fits whom its rather complex. Some of them might be just combinations of things as well :D
HiFranc 4th Mar 2016, 3:59 AM edit delete reply

I'm guessing that Noctis's explanation will be along the lines of:

I am doing this to help Decimus. It's clear that the responsibility of running a city has unbalanced him. Unfortunately, the only way to relieve him of that responsibility is to kill him but don't we sometimes have to put sick animals out of their misery?
sigpig 4th Mar 2016, 9:08 AM edit delete reply

@Dragonrider and @xpacetrue - wouldn't that describe Ada to a "T"?
Stormwind13 4th Mar 2016, 10:08 AM edit delete reply

Hmmm... good point sigpig. Hadn't thought about it, but definitely have a point.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:23 AM edit delete reply

I think it describes Centcomm Actual, and Tokyo Rose as well .. meddlers and linchpins that they are.
So many things revolve around those two, and so many lives hang in the balance, that they sure do fit the bill.
Dragonrider 4th Mar 2016, 10:49 AM edit delete reply

@Sheela~@sigpig Ada is along those lines however, I think wisdom better defines her. I would nominate TR, for Death even though she operates on a the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one, witness her lecture to Kyle about not doing anything to rescue Lynn even if she were a sex slave to Douchebag. Also I strongly suspect TR engineered this current situation, including Lynn's kidnapping, solely for the purpose of fixing Aeneas. Hopefully Lynn would survive unharmed but if not, the needs of the many etc.
Gilrandir 4th Mar 2016, 3:02 PM edit delete reply
Since not all major arcana need to be people (cf. Wheel of Fortune), in Datachasers, perhaps Death should be represented by an android 'sparking booth' (or whatever they are called) when a personality is moved to a new body or brought fully aware for the first time.

("For a new lease on life, buy only the best in booths: the Anim-8 from Pale Horse Enterprises!" ^_^)
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 9:53 PM edit delete reply

New Troy's android "sparking booth" is literally called Centcomm-Actual.
Haegan2005 3rd Mar 2016, 9:10 PM edit delete reply

Good time to ask for a date!
Stormwind13 4th Mar 2016, 7:18 AM edit delete reply

I guess no time like the present, Haegan. Still his preface could have been better (if we survive this)! Think POSITIVE, Denzic! Especially looking at someone as pretty as Kat. :-)
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:24 AM edit delete reply

Well, he got a positive response, so he's in the clear ... for now. :)
Mark_L_A 3rd Mar 2016, 9:41 PM edit delete reply

It's never too late to setup your plans for the future. That way you always have something to live for.

ETA: is it time for this yet?
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:26 AM edit delete reply

It is literally proven, that it is easier to go through hardships, if you have a goal to work towards, than if you don't.

So I guess his haphazard seup for a date is good forsomething, even if the date fails.
anonymous coward 3rd Mar 2016, 9:54 PM edit delete reply
Don't just stand there slack-jawed and clueless! You're armed, you're dangerous, and you're on the clock, so go kill somebody!

P.S. I await the references to Donald Rumsfeld's infamous and hilariously silly speech.
mjkj 4th Mar 2016, 12:18 AM edit delete reply

They surely are in for more surprises...

Woah, great move there - hope those two connect...

...and Kylie (playing Charis) looks really great, as does Kat...

Maybe all Noctis wants is a good lube job. Wait. That came out wrong.
Hornet 4th Mar 2016, 6:20 AM edit delete reply
Who doesn't???
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:28 AM edit delete reply

Depends on the lube, I suspect.

Also I'm fairly certain that felines are against anything, liquid or semi-liquid, that is about to be applied to them.
And Murderturds just wants to eat the lube .. or fight it .. whichever happens first.
Visvires 5th Mar 2016, 2:13 PM edit delete reply
Eat it, and fight it if it resists.
Sheela 6th Mar 2016, 3:06 AM edit delete reply

Unless it is angry, in which case it'll fight it first, and eat the remains afterwards. XD
Timotheus 4th Mar 2016, 2:17 AM edit delete reply

Just wondering why all these combat suits seem to be lacking any actual attachments. Just thinking back as far as I can I don't recall any canteens, equipment bags, battery packs, etc. hanging off any belts or harness, indoors or out. Just weapons and holsters. Military tech reached the point where that's all the soldier needs to carry any more?
Stormwind13 4th Mar 2016, 5:41 AM edit delete reply

Much more likely that since they are inside the palace someone (Douchimus?) decided that it was unnecessary. Cluttered up the appearance of the guards. Since they are so close to their supplies they shouldn't need to always carry them.

As for attachment points, those could be some advanced form of velcro. Until you hang something off of it, you cannot tell it is there.

Or it might be that CentComm never thought to add them. Or doesn't have the models to add them in. They aren't important enough for her to spend her limited money on.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:12 AM edit delete reply

Magnets !
Fuckin' magnets...!
Tokyo Rose 4th Mar 2016, 1:24 PM edit delete reply

In-universe explanation: They don't need to carry that stuff because they're "on base" and can easily get a drink of water or piece of equipment on the spot if they need it.

Out-of-universe explanation: Each separate object requires system resources. DAZ Studio is pretty efficient in resource management, but it is not 100% perfect, and Cent's PC does not have infinite amounts of RAM; the more objects one puts into a scene, the harder it becomes to work with. Frankly, if equipment is not necessary for a scene, it's just plain easier not to add it in.

Hey, Cent? How many models are shown in, say, the first panel of this page? Not "how many are in the entire scene" - just "how many are shown in that one panel"? I see the corridor set itself, the barricade, three characters, two hair models, four weapons, the radio, and an unknown number of pieces for the outfits on each character...
Centcomm 4th Mar 2016, 2:37 PM edit delete reply

Around 27 objects and figures plus the four figures themselves And about 130 texture maps all at 4000X4000 ( that is so not counting the rest of the scene with the bodies and everyone else. and all the special effects planes.

or all the lights.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 9:56 PM edit delete reply

Actually, future super magnets might actually work ... if you have a strong enough magnet you can slap a pocket or a holster on your leg, or your arm, or whatever.
Tokyo Rose 5th Mar 2016, 5:16 AM edit delete reply

I don't want to admit how much I like this idea.
Sheela 5th Mar 2016, 6:56 AM edit delete reply

Well, since they already have super capacity batteries, they could be small electro magnets ... those fuckers can be rediciously strong.
An electro magnet that can fit in your palm can hold a fire door open even in a windy situation ... and that's with today's technology.

On a sidenote, magnets could make a nasty weapon if you can get them around an enemy : Like so.
Visvires 5th Mar 2016, 2:28 PM edit delete reply
Not the best way to employ them. The attraction force falls of with the square of the distance. Much of the acceleration in that video was gravitational. Same distance squared denominator, technically, but distance is measured from a much further point, so the relative change is negligible.

Anyway, if you have an electromagnet that's got the power to accelerate itself to dangerous velocities in the relatively tiny space it has a meaningful effect, you are better off letting it accelerate something else, and sending that something else over to your target. That way you don't rely on your enemy being magnetic, you don't have to get close, and you don't have to have a magnet for each enemy. Enter the Gauss rifle, and its cousin the railgun.
Just_IDD 4th Mar 2016, 7:41 AM edit delete reply
From what I can tell most of these weapons are energy casters so maybe they tap the power plant that built into the suit somehow. I remember that Two-Cells said the party favors came with shields that use the same power source. I know his name is Marcus, but Two-Cells is a great handle.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 10:13 AM edit delete reply

He also said they use standard power cells.
I think they'd come in a sort of magazine shape variant.
And the suits peobably use one as well.
Wolfsbane 5th Mar 2016, 12:38 AM edit delete reply

Standard power cells? I thought they'd use Duracell, at least.
Sheela 5th Mar 2016, 7:22 AM edit delete reply

Well, standard powercells 900 years in the future, are probably pretty strong. XD
m4ch43r 4th Mar 2016, 10:22 AM edit delete reply

The art keeps getting better and better. Are you using Poser still? Which version? Great work, kudos!
Centcomm 4th Mar 2016, 2:38 PM edit delete reply

Ive actually never used Poser in the comic. Ive used Daz Studio for 99.90 of it with the rest being in Bryce. before it became unusable.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 9:57 PM edit delete reply

Doesn't poser work with Daz ?
Also, wasn't there something called .. uhm .. iClone, or something ?
Tokyo Rose 5th Mar 2016, 5:17 AM edit delete reply

Poser and DAZ Studio are two completely different programs, though they use similar architecture and can often make use of the same resources (figures, textures, etc).
Just_IDD 4th Mar 2016, 12:13 PM edit delete reply
So what's going to happen with the "we want to live, we surrender" twins?
Stormwind13 4th Mar 2016, 1:01 PM edit delete reply

At a guess? I figure they are heading back to prison to finish out their sentences.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 9:58 PM edit delete reply

Naw, use them as cannon fodder first ... then hand them over to Maxus after he's done kicking Decimus' ass.
Visvires 5th Mar 2016, 2:30 PM edit delete reply
And pass up on an easy boost to legitimacy? Give them a fair hearing in open court. It's not like they're likely to survive it.
DLKmusic 4th Mar 2016, 2:35 PM edit delete reply
Just saw the new vote incentive!

Cent, that's MEAN!!!!
Just_IDD 4th Mar 2016, 7:04 PM edit delete reply
Actually I want to see him in a more traditional pose. Your choice, cliff or hanging.

And now I have a completely unrelated remembrance, Spider-Man was Marvel's that character in the first movie. I wonder how many of the Major Arcana can be reproduced with scenes.
Sheela 4th Mar 2016, 9:59 PM edit delete reply

Oh hell .. now we need Kyle hanging off of a cliff, with a hungry Murderturd underneath. :D
TheD-Wrek 4th Mar 2016, 3:55 PM edit delete reply

Aww, look at those two... :3
Centcomm 4th Mar 2016, 10:54 PM edit delete reply

Wonders if Danzig could beg or borrow a crossover of his own :D MHAHAH!
Tokyo Rose 5th Mar 2016, 5:18 AM edit delete reply

"Denzic". Jesus, Cent, his name is right there on the page.
Sheela 5th Mar 2016, 7:23 AM edit delete reply

Daaaaaaaaanzig. :)
KarToon12 4th Mar 2016, 5:04 PM edit delete reply

They should just eat in and get dijorno pizza. XD
DLKmusic 4th Mar 2016, 6:05 PM edit delete reply

Djorno? For a girl like Kat? c'mon!

Steak and lobster, with Champaign... spend a month's salary on that first date, she's worth it!!!!! (besides, if you don't, her grandma is pretty bad-ass and might take exception to a cheap date).
Tokyo Rose 5th Mar 2016, 5:25 AM edit delete reply

Good lord, you want poor Denzic to have to go out and kill a lobster just to get a date?! He'd have to rent a heavily armored amphibious fighting vehicle armed with AP torpedoes! The only thing that keeps them from being as unstoppable as scythe lizards is that they can't chase you as far on land!

(Virtually anything that's survived in the oceans of the DC world this long qualifies as an aquatic nightmare.)
Sheela 5th Mar 2016, 7:32 AM edit delete reply

Let me guess, the Orca's still hunt sharks ?
Just imagine an Orca mutated like the rest of them ?

Be afraid, be VERY afraid !
Wolfsbane 6th Mar 2016, 3:03 AM edit delete reply

Yes, but now the sharks have frikkin' laser beams on their heads! So the balance of power remains.

Sheela 6th Mar 2016, 3:08 AM edit delete reply

If the balance of power remains between sharks and Orca's, then Orca's still hunt sharks.
Because they aready do that, in the real world, today.
Wolfsbane 6th Mar 2016, 2:34 PM edit delete reply

Yes, but sharks usually don't have laser beams strapped to their heads today, do dey? :P
Sheela 7th Mar 2016, 1:52 PM edit delete reply

Well, true, but imagine what the Orca's have to make up for that ?
DLKmusic 5th Mar 2016, 2:13 PM edit delete reply
Gotta admit, Rose, that WOULD make a hell of a first impression!
Howard 5th Mar 2016, 1:08 AM edit delete reply

Mark_L_A 5th Mar 2016, 11:04 AM edit delete reply

DataChasers and it's precursor LunaStar, has a comment section that feels like sitting down at Denny's with my friends and discussing how the world works, and wouldn't it be great "If"?

Hence why I try to read ALL the comments.
CptKerion 5th Mar 2016, 2:14 PM edit delete reply
Pretty much. Somehow, this has created one of the most consistently friendly, welcoming communities of all time that is easy to get into.
Also hilarious and directly involved. I think a large part of it is how the authors involve themselves directly in the community.

Ack .. nooo .. those are my fries now!

Minion, delay them while I get away!
Tokyo Rose 6th Mar 2016, 3:12 PM edit delete reply
