Cent (the Artist) is in the hospital, having been diagnosed with first-degree heart block and placed under observation. A treatment plan is being worked out, and hopefully she'll be out of there by Wednesday.
I think, that now Rose has her hand in, Watch Dog and his buddies are going to be very hard pressed to stop Rose from disabling or at least muzzling them.
All the software hacking in the world shouldn't be effecting any hardware changes -- unless you're talking about damaging or destroying the hardware through misuse or abuse.
Evil devils advocate mode *ON* !
What if CeCi *isn't* revived, but Watchdoggy plays along with it?
CeCi : "M-Mommy ?"
Tokyo Rose : "Erhh .. no, but I'm here."
CeCi : "Daddy touched my personal bits!" *points at Aeneas*
Tokyo Rose : "He WHAT?"
Aeneas : "I .. I did NOT!"
CeCi : "He totally did, and he formatted my boot sector too!"
Tokyo Rose : "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!"
Aeneas : "I-I assure you .."
Tokyo Rose : "... you perverted, dirty ..
Aeneas : ".. I did no such thing .."
Tokyo Rose : ".. low down, filthy.."
Aeneas : ".. to an innocent android like.."
Tokyo Rose : ".. piece of microsoft software!"
Aeneas : " ...!"
Aeneas : "WHAT ?!"
CeCi has a lot to remember, of being an independent entity... and then more than she has to remember, when she wasn't running the show. Lots of forces at play, and I for one am unsure how it will all play out.
Allright! Sweet little CeCi is back! Is her Death Angel programming offline or can she still defend herself and others? Does this mean that CentComm's 'Aeneas takeover' program is erased and can't be booted up again? She's one of my favorite characters, along with Dolly and Doc Silver and I'm glad to see she's not 'dead'.
Rose : "See all of those memories CeCi ?"
CeCi : "Y-yeah ?"
Rose : "Those are BAD memories, CeCi - BAD!" Real muder bots, don't have happy memories, now delete them immediately!"
CeCi : "uh uhmm ... OK!" :D
Hmmmm .... delete CeCi again ?
And again ?
And again?
Tokyo Rose has reinstalled CeCi-Core.

Tokyo Rose has reinstalled CeCi-Core.
Watchdog has deleted CeCi-Core and dependencies.
Meanwhile CeCi's body would do all sorts of weird moves and sounds.
This happens sometimes when I find a reason why I need to fight with autoupdate, but I usually cut it short. It would be something like:
Tokyo Rose has reinstalled CeCi-Core.
Watchdog has deleted CeCi-Core and dependencies.
Tokyo Rose has muttered "Bloodyminded stubborn goatfucker" and uninstalled Watchdog.
Tokyo Rose has reinstalled CeCi-Core.
Tokyo Rose has revoked Watchdog's write privileges.
Tokyo Rose: CeCi, here's a leash and a rolled-up newspaper. Call me if you have any questions about what they're for, okay?
Well trhe epip memory is there but I see someone else already got it. I pulled images from each of Ceci's segments. There was a lot to go though for this :D
Depends on who you ASK, HiFranc. If you ask CentComm, the real CeCi has been acting since Agendas (9 October 2015). Before that it was an abnormality that was running the show.
For the readers, it is the exact OPPOSITE. That was when CeCi was taken away from us... and we damn well want her back! And I was fearing we weren't ever getting her back.
Heh, reminds me of the time with Dr Silver was messing around inside Ceci's head, I wrote a shortstory where Tokyo rose had sparked the Watchdog, because ..
... well, because she could, frankly.
And because it was funny, and a greater challenge.
That comment is currently hiding in the comment section of Comic 861 - "Options".
o/' I'm Slim Ceci yes I'm the real Ceci all you other Slim Cecis are just imitating so won't the real Ceci please stand up, please stand up, please stand up o/'
Tokyo Rose: Sure thing. One mickey finn generic filtered beer coming up! Or maybe you'd prefer a tequila sunset sunrise? As for you lot, definitely not while you're driving.
I would neither say "easily" nor "subverted". "Foiled", perhaps.
Consider, first thare had to be a sparked CeCi to begin with, which was so unusual as to have provoked comment. Then there is the fact that, no matter how simple it looks, what Tokyo Rose is doing appears to be taking the combined capability of no less than _four_ A.I.S. (Yasakani and Kusanagi appeared to merge with Rose, as well as Aeneas providing "full access". Kagami is unaccounted for, but may well also be contributing to the fusion.) "Simple" is not the same as "easy".
And not "subverted" because CentComm's plan is not (as far as I know) being turned to Tokyo Rose's advantage -- it's just being halted so Aeneas can stay in place. If Rose were to hijack the spike and use it to replace Aeneas (or some other A.I.S., I suppose) with a kernel of her own choosing, then yes, "subverted". (Just my opinions, of course.)
Visvires you are ASKING to get crammed into Tokyo Rose costume and plunked into the matrix...
"EASY did you say? Let's FU¢KING see how EASY you think it is now!" snarls Tokyo Rose. ::As Aeneas gets ready to blast YOU into little bits of virtual data::
I view the events as support of the idea that CentComm had two possible positive outcomes. If Aeneas or Tokyo Rose can restore Ceci's original personality, it means that Aeneas is rational enough to resolve things. However, Ceci's original personality may have also been left as a honeypot. In the process of making Ceci's original personality dominant, it may trigger an attack that will collect information about Tokyo Rose and send it back to CentCom.
I was hoping CeCi was not ending her part in the story being permanently subsumed by a black angel imperative. Her creation was rushed and judging by CentComm's reaction to her at the time, her personality something of a fluke. I think I have the same problem with her situation Dolly seems to. Creating someone (human, android or otherwise) with the innocence of a schoolchild, the abilities of a black angel and then equipping them with a personality deleting over-ride is not the kind of thing that endears people to you. She had her reasons but still...
I had not thought about it that way, but her personality was overridden.
This makes Centcomm's choices look much less black and white and more a darker shade of grey. Centcomm does seem to be fiercely protective of the Helios family. But is that in order to prevent her secrets from being used or is that genuine love, or maybe a mix of the two? Centcomm is old and has seen many of the the family members be born, age, and die(though not always from old age I am sure). Eventually this may have caused her to either put a premium on the Helios families lives or perhaps adopt a less value laden outlook. I think that she is fond of the family as she has plainly worked hard to protect them against what she knew about. Of course there may be imperatives that we do not know about in regards to this(knowing the devious duo...) and again this is more likely a shades of grey then a black and white situation.
If Ceci were still as she was originally designed, Cent-Comm's actions wouldn't be quite as nasty. Ceci's "personality" wasn't supposed to be real, just a shell over the Black Angel persona; deleting it would have been as minor as deleting a desktop shortcut, removing a facade without affecting the actual functionality. Later developments have changed the situation substantially.
I would like to see
Ceci restored with an AI spike of Aeneas put in place of the Centcomm one.
The epic battle between Dark angle Ceci and Cent would be priceless pay back.
The fascinating thing I believe is that all of the montage photos come from the latter part of the Joleet stop over. This might mean that there will be no story revisions after that point, which would be something useful to know.
Tim. As I understand it, all the single panel comics (up to And now a new format, 1 January 2009, currently page 434) are going to be replaced.
CentComm doesn't like her old artwork and wants everything as pretty as possible. I'm not sure if CentComm is going to work on CeCi and Dolly's visit to Logrin, but I wouldn't be surprised. In fact, she might go up to the End of Chapter, 22 May 2012 (currently page 539) to give everyone the newest models.
I really don't know for sure, and not sure when she'll have time with cranking out new pages for our consumption. I'm not sure how she does all the magic she does, but I thank her for it! :-)
I can see that you're building new scenes, not just rerendering with new models. But in spots the poses seem identical (if usually seen from a different camera angle). Can you take a pose created with an earlier model and just rerender with an updated model, or are you creating all new poses that sometimes just happen to look like the old ones?
That's an even more impressive amount of work than when I thought you were just capturing from existing art. The result is very nice, though. Thank you.
There's probably a reason for that...I haven't forgotten that Dr. Silver did something to fix an obviously messed up android by remote while flying by. Pretty sure that was CeCi. Also pretty sure it started the process of her self determination...which is coming in a rather spectacular fashion unless I miss my guess.
I get a feeling that if this fully goes through and CeCi" IS back, when they DO get back to New Troy, when centComm tries to take CeCi to "Debrief" and erase CeCi, Dolly will have something to say about that. to CentComm's regret and possibly pain.
I don't think it ever gets as far as Dolly. For one thing CeCi will be capable of speaking on her own behalf. For a second, if an advocate is needed, I expect Dr. Silver would duel all competitors for the privilege. (Tokyo Rose probably would, too, if she thought it would help. However, given her past relationships with CentComm, she might conclude that that would do more harm than good. ^_^)
And for all the talk (both third person and first person) about CentComm being a monster, we have seen that -- confronted squarely with the Abyss -- CentComm does her best to back away and keep her humanity.
Lastly, Dolly is too smart to champion CeCi in her own person. Why bring a squirt gun to a gunfight when you have a radio? You call in the 16-inch shells from Battleship Calliope Taylor, then wait for Justice and Mercy to prevail. ^_^
holy shit! I`m gone for a couple of years and everything`s gone to hell. acanthi gets stabbed, ada is a baddass warbitch ^_^, deck is dead in the fiery flames of hell, I get to see who Tokyo really is AND now Ceci is coming back! AWESOME. I`m really glad I came back to read this comic. pure GOLD!
Adding my wishes for good luck to author Cent-Comm and hopes she has a good cardiologist and things have been caught and repaired before too much damage (Wed sounds like they're thinking they can fix things with a heart cath rather than needing to crack her chest, as that takes a lot more recovery time).
First-degree atrioventricular block (AV block), or PR prolongation, is a disease of the electrical conduction system of the heart in which the PR interval is lengthened beyond 0.20 seconds.[1]
In first-degree AV block, the impulse conducting from atria to ventricles through the atrioventricular node (AV node) is delayed and travels slower than normal. It has a prevalence in the normal (young adult) population of 0.65-1.1% and the incidence is 0.13 per 1000 persons.
Treatment
The management includes identifying and correcting electrolyte imbalances and withholding any offending medications. This condition does not require admission unless there is an associated myocardial infarction. Even though it usually does not progress to higher forms of heart block, it may require outpatient follow-up and monitoring of the ECG, especially if there is a comorbid bundle branch block. If there is a need for treatment of an unrelated condition, care should be taken not to introduce any medication that may slow AV conduction. If this is not feasible, clinicians should be very cautious when introducing any drug that may slow conduction; and regular monitoring of the ECG is indicated.
Prognosis
Isolated first-degree heart block has no direct clinical consequences. There are no symptoms or signs associated with it. It was originally thought of as having a benign prognosis. In the Framingham Heart Study, however, the presence of a prolonged PR interval or first degree AV block doubled the risk of developing atrial fibrillation (irregular heart beat), tripled the risk of requiring an artificial pacemaker, and was associated with a small increase in mortality. This risk was proportional to the degree of PR prolongation.[2]
A subset of individuals with the triad of first-degree heart block, right bundle branch block, and either left anterior fascicular block or left posterior fascicular block (known as trifascicular block) may be at an increased risk of progression to complete heart block.
Prayers for Terri, and if I wasn't tapped for cash right now, I'd be sending some additional in.
If you aren't already, please consider signing up to be a Patreon member supporting Terri and Krissy (CentComm and Tokyo Rose).
Mark, please note I'm NOT a medical person but from what Terri indicated she had a troponin imbalance. Most of the test sounded good though (CT Scan, Chest X-Ray, ECG); however, she was in pain (chest and shoulder, which is why she went to hospital in the first place). And she was on morphine, so was a little bit loopy. I didn't talk to the Doctor, which Krissy may have and gotten better information.
I didn't get better info, sadly. She's on morphine for pain control, was given blood thinner, and has had a couple of scans. There's no indication of valve malfunction or narrowing in the blood vessels, so there's nothing mechanically wrong; the concern is the lag in electrical signals bouncing around in the cardiac muscle. There are one or two medications being discussed, as far as I know.
Gave Terri a call and she seems to be doing pretty well. Though she's a bit bored sitting/laying there with an IV. But they let her walk around a little. And with a little medication boost she's pretty chatty. It has been a neat treat to talk to one of the creators of this fine tale!
Wow...
I am so disappointed!
And then you kill off watchdoggy, don't you ? *sniff*
I think I even remember the specific pages about half of those stills were taken from.
Day after tomorrow we may die, but for today, we have our CeCi back!
He's being sent to the doghouse, and LEASHED !!!
As a fellow Doggy, I can sympathize !
Fucking spell check. I meant Sheela.
What if CeCi *isn't* revived, but Watchdoggy plays along with it?

That is hitting below the belt!
Remember!
I shall resort to a small squee instead.
SQUEEEE!
CeCi : "Y-yeah ?"
Rose : "Those are BAD memories, CeCi - BAD!" Real muder bots, don't have happy memories, now delete them immediately!"
CeCi : "uh uhmm ... OK!" :D
That would be a fun city to live in.
But it is a amusing thought.
...the only memory that is missing is the one with the epiphyte...
Great update - thank you.
I just was looking for the green epiphyte...
