This bitch. This one right here with the cross-tied ribcage? Gonna drown her in cat pee.

I hate hospitals. I hate going into them. I hate being in them. I hate them like they're made of smallpox and arachnids and wasps and chipmunks. I've gone into one virtually every godforsaken day of the past week to try to reassure and comfort my friend, a/k/a this bitch.

Bitch emails me saying "Can you pick up some stuff I left at the hospital?" So I do, because hey, don't wanna lose any important personal stuff, right?

I get there, they hand me a bag, and I discover that I've been sent back into the fishhook-fanged embrace of Hell incarnate as steel and concrete and glass to pick up
- three toothbrushes
- a tube of toothpaste
- an oval file
- poligrip strips
- a plastic denture box

Bitch I'd have bought you new fucking toothbrushes. I'd have taken up a collection, started a GoFundMe, inundated you with toothbrushes for the rest of forever like Saint Apollonia crapping out a miracle.

omg fucking toothbrushes

nobody talk to me about toothbrushes

Noooooo, do not kill CeCi.... =S

Hmmm, Kyle still did not notice Rose's change in appearance...

PS: welcome home, Terri... =D

Guest 24th Jul 2016, 9:55 PM edit delete reply
To be fair, Kyle probably only has an audio-only communications channel.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2016, 10:49 PM edit delete reply

Stay tuned Ceci lovers.
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2016, 5:14 AM edit delete reply

We are staying tuned (you EVIL creatrix), if for nothing else to say our goodbyes to sweet CeCi. At least she will die as HERSELF, instead of the mockery that CentComm tried to overwrite her with.
Tokyo Rose 25th Jul 2016, 3:03 PM edit delete reply

From Cent-Comm's logical perspective, "Ceci herself" is the mockery, a severe flaw in a tool designed to meet a specific purpose.
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2016, 3:38 PM edit delete reply

CentComm doesn't GET a vote in this, Rose! We are going to unleash Dolly (and Calliope) on CentComm!
Dragonrider 25th Jul 2016, 4:10 PM edit delete reply

Agree 200% Stormwind see my post from a few hours before yours.
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2016, 5:06 PM edit delete reply

So you did, Dragonrider. :-)
Dragonrider 24th Jul 2016, 9:03 PM edit delete reply

A moment of silence for the Savior of Civilization Ceci. A memorial damn well better be built to honor her sacrifice to save the world.
EDIT: Thought just occurred to me Dolly will find out what happened to Ceci, have a feeling she will extract, probably with Callie's help, revenge for the death of her "Daughter".

It's broadcasting a success announcement after a failure? Derp.
Centcomm 24th Jul 2016, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

The spike went off .. that was the criteria for success.
jamie59 24th Jul 2016, 9:21 PM edit delete reply

You're up late for first day out.

Please save Ceci!
Visvires 24th Jul 2016, 10:55 PM edit delete reply
Someone's going to be really disappointed next time they try to contact New Rome's AI core. Awkward moment, that.
hiddenninjafist 24th Jul 2016, 11:25 PM edit delete reply
are you saying that a highly intellegent military A.I would not want a full report on the mission? well goes along with my theory that centtcom somehow dumbed herself down or otherwise made herself less competent in order to save lives when she was controlled by human military
Tokyo Rose 25th Jul 2016, 3:05 PM edit delete reply

If everything had gone according to plan--and Cent-Comm is not accustomed to having her plans fail--she'd have been able to get a full report on the mission simply by talking to Centroma.
Visvires 26th Jul 2016, 5:53 PM edit delete reply
And the conspicuous silence there means she'll be able to figure out that something went wrong after the spike went off. Ok, useful debug flag.
The Old Scribe 24th Jul 2016, 9:16 PM edit delete reply

Welp, there goes poor little CeCi. No good deed goes unpunished.
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2016, 6:21 AM edit delete reply

At least she will have gone out as HERSELF. Still a sad thing though.
ProfEtheric 24th Jul 2016, 9:22 PM edit delete reply

No killa Ceci! D:<
Fairportfan 24th Jul 2016, 9:25 PM edit delete reply

Okay. Cent is not as smart as she thinks she is (i mean the AI). Something could still happen.
Timotheus 24th Jul 2016, 9:25 PM edit delete reply

Not necessarily, Ceci may be capable of rewriting things if her core watchdog has been replaced to any degree by her surface personality. She may have to comply with certain requirements, but she can alter how she complies.
randonymous 25th Jul 2016, 6:32 PM edit delete reply
"Hardwired" does kind of imply it's not some simple code to overwrite :P
Mark_L_A 24th Jul 2016, 10:13 PM edit delete reply

Terri Glad you're home.

As for CeCi, I hope TR was/is able to do something about her "Self destruct"
Dragonrider 24th Jul 2016, 10:27 PM edit delete reply

@Mark_L_A Don't think she wanted to, she sent her on a one way mission of self destruction, Ceci knew and accepted it. She felt she had to atone for what Centcomm did in sending the hidden spike.
Pirtnac 25th Jul 2016, 2:15 AM edit delete reply
"What do we do with the treacherous black angel?" leads me to believe there is in fact some choices in the matter.

Also, she was inches from Kyle, if he is still talking, Ceci's body did NOT just detonate.
Gilrandir 25th Jul 2016, 5:34 AM edit delete reply
"Self-destruct" could just represent a quiet meltdown to slag, rather than a high-value detonation. Kali's, after all, left people 15 feet away more or less unaffected.

But I agree with you that it is unlikely her chassis has gone the pyrotechnic route just yet.
Tokyo Rose 25th Jul 2016, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

Forensic examination of bombing scenes suggest that explosive destruction methods aren't always the most efficient--they can leave important bits scattered around, un-destroyed and able to be picked up and analyzed later.
Sheela 25th Jul 2016, 5:55 PM edit delete reply

Aw .. and here I was hoping for grilled Kyle.
Haegan2005 24th Jul 2016, 10:35 PM edit delete reply

Glad you're home and comfortable I hope!

A bit of conjecture here. Assuming she was actually running her self inside the node, out of memory just means everything stops, or errors out, loads, and the empty space gets filled by the spike.

It is possible, assuming power is maintained, to salvage get personality code from that bank once it is isolated. Sounds like a rose level of expertise though. Also the data spike would fail at some point as well since it also ran out of memory and drive space during its overwrite.

Apologies if I am rambling.
HiFranc 24th Jul 2016, 10:55 PM edit delete reply

Or Rose can pull her out of that system and leave her in cyberspace? Destruction of Ceci's body doesn't have to take Ceci with it.

However, I believe that there's a 90%+ chance that she's dead.
HiFranc 24th Jul 2016, 10:56 PM edit delete reply

Terri, I hope that you continue healing.
cattservant 24th Jul 2016, 11:14 PM edit delete reply

Ceci's body is still extant. Perhaps TR was recording
when she brought Ceci back...
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2016, 5:04 AM edit delete reply

We are glad you are still with us too, Terri. :-)
Centcomm 25th Jul 2016, 7:01 AM edit delete reply

me too storm .. trust me. I am very happy to be alive.
highlander55 25th Jul 2016, 7:10 AM edit delete reply

We all second that Terri. :D
DLKmusic 25th Jul 2016, 3:13 PM edit delete reply
Terri, I'm thrilled that you're back and that you're happy... do me a favor though, no "happy-dance" for a while
chk 25th Jul 2016, 7:54 AM edit delete reply

Yep. Very glad.
Naldru 25th Jul 2016, 9:05 AM edit delete reply
Happy is good. Happy does not stress the body. Being happy increases chances of staying happy.
jas 25th Jul 2016, 7:17 AM edit delete reply

And thirded! Welcome home, Terri!
sigpig 25th Jul 2016, 9:05 AM edit delete reply

If this is the end of CiCi, we still have the continuation of Terri. I'll take that trade-off ANY day...
MikeLinPA 25th Jul 2016, 9:14 AM edit delete reply
The difference, as I see it, between DC comics and Marvel comics was that good people sometimes die in Marvel comics. (DC caught up recently...) It made for better drama by raising the stakes and getting the reader invested in the story, but it is often very sad. DC was always so happy-go-lucky as to need insulin with every issue. Having acknowledged this...

Please save Ceci! Enough people have died and/or suffered already.
TheSkulker 25th Jul 2016, 10:22 AM edit delete reply

TR - Check your PMs
Stormwind13 25th Jul 2016, 11:01 AM edit delete reply

Rose is notorious for not checking her Comic Fury email, Skulker. Mr Black is probably worse. :-)
Centcomm 25th Jul 2016, 12:42 PM edit delete reply

Rose checks her comic fury account? - You would be better off to send ME the message and let me throw it at her.
Gilrandir 25th Jul 2016, 3:02 PM edit delete reply
Did you get the PM I sent you?
Morituri 25th Jul 2016, 1:47 PM edit delete reply
Here's an optimistic interpretation.

Ceci was supposed to already be deleted. But remember she had three processors in her head? I'm supposing they were Ceci, Watchdog, and Black Angel, respectively.

Ceci was a standard android brain; nothing particularly sensitive about that once the personality information's been deleted, and no need to target it with a self-destruct.

Watchdog and Black Angel, and particularly the Centcomm 'spike', on the other hand, were advanced black-ops stuff, violate more standards than a serial flasher in a velcro fursuit, and directly implicate the guilty parties on whose behalf a self-destruct order would be carried out.

So I'm guessing that 'self-destruct' in this case means Watchdog and Black Angel destroyed in no uncertain terms - but that standard android brain? With its software personality and memories already deleted? Doesn't seem all that important to get rid of.

It still might get trashed as 'collateral damage,' but destroying Ceci isn't on their 'todo' list because the automatics think it's already done.
Tokyo Rose 25th Jul 2016, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

Small clarification: Watchdog effectively IS the Black Angel programming.

Also, Ceci's body is a Black Angel chassis, literally stuffed to the tits with hardware of varying levels of classification, none of which Cent-Comm would want falling into the wrong hands.
Dragonrider 25th Jul 2016, 4:19 PM edit delete reply

That is another reason to not use explosive self destruct enough collateral damage to level a few city blocks. Better to lock the brain in an unbreakable logic loop.
Pirtnac 26th Jul 2016, 12:14 PM edit delete reply
Except her actual tits, which were provided literally so the wrong hands could get on them, to misdirect attention away from her mission.
That one guy 25th Jul 2016, 3:20 PM edit delete reply
Congrats and glad you're home. Major surgery like that is always stressful/painful, but it's much better that they caught it in time to repair.

Everything I've heard is that heart conditions present in very different fashion in men vs women, and everyone remembers how they present in men, and that's led to significantly more heart conditions not being caught in time for women. I'm happy to hear that things were noticed and repaired and now you and your doctors will know to watch for additional issues.
KarToon12 25th Jul 2016, 5:31 PM edit delete reply

I'm gonna cry a river if Ceci dies. D:
Tokamada01 25th Jul 2016, 6:02 PM edit delete reply

Good to see you out of the hospital Terri!
Timotheus 25th Jul 2016, 7:33 PM edit delete reply

I'm sure the denture box must of had great personal attachment. I mean my father only owned one for his entire life and considering the way it was safely stored in his bathroom drawer it must have meant something to him. Then again, in the current state of this world I'm sure the hospital doesn't want to be accused of trying to swipe anything.
(Please do not take this in anything other than than the spirit it is offered.)
Tokyo Rose 25th Jul 2016, 7:37 PM edit delete reply

I'm pretty sure hospital regulations are "send 'em out with all the crap they brought in with 'em (surgical removals excepted) so they don't claim we stole anything".

That said, OMG anyway
Timotheus 25th Jul 2016, 9:48 PM edit delete reply

My contribution to inappropriate beurocracy in action. I had arrived at the hospital and just been told of my grandmother's passing. I'd entered the room and had just seen her body foe about 30 seconds when a nurse came in and said I had a phone call. Thinking it might be my parents or sister I quickly took it, only to find myself talking to the county corener who wanted to know where the body was to be sent. I told him I wasn't sure at the moment but I knew where he could go and hung up. I don't regret it and never heard anything from them about it, though the hospital did ask awhile later if we had a prefered funeral home. (Which we did.)
