Every good update on your health makes me smile a YUGE smile! :)

Stay strong.

Also, this cliffhanger... so mean! XD
Sheela 2nd Oct 2016, 11:25 PM edit delete reply

Yeah, the update on her health, put TeeDee in such a good mood that she didn't even shoot first and ask questions later.

It must be pretty weird for TeeDee.
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

yet! .. key word.. yet!
Sheela 3rd Oct 2016, 11:12 PM edit delete reply

Well, ok, ok .. she didn't shoot YET. :)
Gilrandir 3rd Oct 2016, 11:20 PM edit delete reply
She has yet to either shoot, or ask a question -- so we remain uninformed about which she will do first. ^_^.

(Odds are, based on the guest artist pages, that the smart money is on 'ask a question'. ^_^)
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

Thankys Prof! :D
Sheela 4th Oct 2016, 12:59 PM edit delete reply

And her question will be :
"How many bullets do you have, and can I have them?" :D
cattservant 2nd Oct 2016, 10:06 PM edit delete reply

Keep on keeping on!
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

Indeed cat!
Mark_L_A 2nd Oct 2016, 10:12 PM edit delete reply

I am squeeing. which isn't good for a 48 year old man to do. especially around his own kids :)
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

hehe try it when you are 52.. :D
Sheela 3rd Oct 2016, 11:13 PM edit delete reply

You're a squeeling 52 y.o. man with kids ?

News to me!
Haegan2005 2nd Oct 2016, 10:15 PM edit delete reply

Looking nice!

Everyone is happy to sit back and let you heal.
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:10 PM edit delete reply

yep looking good so far! im glad the readers are still here!
Sheela 3rd Oct 2016, 11:14 PM edit delete reply

There's some truth to that.

Saw a comic that had a decent number of people fall by the wayside for 5 months, and then when he startet back up he couldn't understand why there was no readers left.
But - With fan updates and all that, you're nowhere like that. :)
Haegan2005 2nd Oct 2016, 10:18 PM edit delete reply

Oh! And the comic is ranked at Six!
HiFranc 2nd Oct 2016, 10:58 PM edit delete reply

Who's in front of them?
Sheela 2nd Oct 2016, 11:23 PM edit delete reply

Noctis and Maxus, I do believe.
DLKmusic 2nd Oct 2016, 11:36 PM edit delete reply

@Sheela: LOL!

@HiFranc: 5 comics that all have huge followings, and have been getting consistant votes at this level for 2 years, unfortunately...

Still, Being Right behind Girl Genius and Grrl Power is Pretty Damned Impressive!!!! even more so since Data Chaser votes have been consistant at about 600 a day for 4 months!

Well Done, Everyone!!!! ROSE! CENT! GUESS WHAT!!! We LOVE YOU!!!!
Sheela 3rd Oct 2016, 6:36 AM edit delete reply

Hah, if Tokyo Rose had to go on stage and talk about how it is to be as high ranked as the dynamic Foglio Duo, she would probably alternate between hyperventilating and squeeing, if they also got up on stage.

I'm not sure if she has realised how well this comic is doing in the rankings.
Gilrandir 3rd Oct 2016, 12:03 PM edit delete reply
I thought @Tokyo Rose was defined by her calm, phlegmatic disposition and languid, relaxed emotional response to any possible circumstance? Surely, if she were sharing a stage with the Professors Foglio, she'd just peacefully bide her time (possibly nodding off for a bit of a nap) until it was her turn to address the audience, right? ^_^
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 1:44 PM edit delete reply

Actually were Rose in the same room as mister Foglio i think we would have to use a trank gun to get her out from under a table..
Tokyo Rose 3rd Oct 2016, 8:50 PM edit delete reply

Don't forget the gibbering. There would be gibbering from under the table.

If I was in a room with Neil Gaiman, I would probably pass out.
Gilrandir 3rd Oct 2016, 10:49 PM edit delete reply
See! See! Just like I said: confronted with celebrity, she'd take a nap. ^_^.

Called it! ^_^
Tahg 3rd Oct 2016, 7:52 AM edit delete reply
Slipped to 8 since this morning. But still, anything in the top 10 is impressive. I also find the fact that LunaStar being in the top 50 as often as it is (most of the time) impressive given that it was finished a long time ago.
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 1:45 PM edit delete reply

That is because of you dear readers.. who have stuck with us though fire and flood .. death and heart issues.. but we are still here!
Sheela 3rd Oct 2016, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

We are here tooo! :D

And I find Rose's reactions to celebrity funny. :)
Oh, and lets not forget that Neil Gaiman is kinda handsome too, you'd miss out on that if you fainted.
HiFranc 2nd Oct 2016, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

I'm glad you're healing. As for the smoking and rendering, is there anything in the list we gave you that you find appealing?
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:09 PM edit delete reply

ive tried most all of them sheer will power seems the best.
Gilrandir 3rd Oct 2016, 10:57 PM edit delete reply
Awwww. I was hoping the bubble wrap idea would yield positive results.

But I am glad you and your willpower are winning.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No cigarette will I ignite.
Let others fill their lungs with blight,
I have the strength to do what's right!
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 3:54 PM edit delete reply

heh thank you!
Gilrandir 4th Oct 2016, 4:12 PM edit delete reply
<smile> You're welcome.
Dragonrider 2nd Oct 2016, 11:06 PM edit delete reply

Good to see this, again you're not as well as you feel you are. Ask the Doc if you can do this Please. Yes I nag.
In process of reread, have one page do not redo don't mess with perfection, when Dolly clocks Cent back on her ass.
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

yeah im pacing myself .. and i appreciate the nagging but i also need to get this back up and running to speed..
plymayer 2nd Oct 2016, 11:37 PM edit delete reply

Great page.

Praying for your recovery.
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

well something is working :D
Matt Knab 3rd Oct 2016, 3:18 AM edit delete reply

Glad to hear you are doing well, CC. Keep up the good work!
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:07 PM edit delete reply

working on it.. and thank you Matt
SeanR 3rd Oct 2016, 7:38 AM edit delete reply
You need two computers. One to model on, and one to render on. Or, one to model on, and one to play/surf/chat on. That way you're not waiting on the render one to get back in.
Alternately, you need a decent personal library.

Have you priced rendering services?
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:07 PM edit delete reply

NO i haven't, as for a second computer i don't have a extra 3 grand laying around to make one.. LOL
Tahg 4th Oct 2016, 9:34 AM edit delete reply
Out of curiosity, how long does rendering take? I've seen people mention 5min to 18hours or more, depending on the scene and their system. I'm guessing it's long enough that waiting for it can get boring, but shorter than just letting it run overnight.

Also, I imagine there's a bit of "babysitting"? For example, it looks like this comic has 4 renders, plus I assume the comic layout and text isn't part of the render.
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 12:42 PM edit delete reply

Rendering is a tricky question. It can take anywhere between 5 min to a hour. the way i do things. and Daz tries to suck up all my ram to do the renders. its greedy that way.
Sheela 4th Oct 2016, 1:02 PM edit delete reply

RAM is indeed a precious resource when doing 3D rendering.

On a sidenote, how much RAM do you have ?
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 2:35 PM edit delete reply

Currently its 32 gig and I have 4 slots :D
Tahg 4th Oct 2016, 2:46 PM edit delete reply
I'd have suspected it to be CPU or GPU bound. I'd donate the funds right now for 64GB of shiny new RAM, if her computer supports it and it would help. (RAM is like one of the cheapest and easiest system upgrades these days)
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 3:05 PM edit delete reply

donations are always acceptable.. I can ask Marcus if my system can support it. Hes the tech guy that keeps my system running.
Tahg 4th Oct 2016, 4:41 PM edit delete reply
Really enjoying the comic so far. Always into sci-fi. Left you a comment with the donation if you read those, hope it helps.
Sheela 5th Oct 2016, 11:30 AM edit delete reply

Some of the best speed upgrades to systems these days tend to be SSD disks ... I'm speaking in general terms here though, don't know if it would apply to Centcomms machine.
antrik 15th Oct 2016, 2:40 PM edit delete reply
Actually, there are fairly few scenarios (apart from initial start-up times) in which a faster disk trumps more RAM.

In some situations a faster disk might still make a big difference though, for an additional boost once RAM upgrade options have been exhausted...
SeanR 6th Oct 2016, 7:17 AM edit delete reply
The advantage of a second computer to use as a distraction is it wouldn't have to be a workhorse.
Something with enough power to check email, browse the web, and maybe play a few browser games would be enough for a distraction.
Or, you could just get an XBox One/PS4/WiiU.
chk 3rd Oct 2016, 8:18 AM edit delete reply

Thanks for picking this up where you left off. The guest artists are good, and all that, but nothing like you.

(And yes, stopping smoking can be a mother fucker. Glad you're doing OK.)
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

Aww thank you.. I think they are very good I respect and adore all the guest artists that pitched in for me.
mjkj 3rd Oct 2016, 1:45 PM edit delete reply

Wow, what a surprise... =)

Thank you, Cent, great to hear from you... *hugs*
Centcomm 3rd Oct 2016, 3:06 PM edit delete reply

Your very welcome.. im looking forward to getting back into the swing of things
Stormwind13 3rd Oct 2016, 3:07 PM edit delete reply

Really glad to hear you are doing okay, CentComm. And extremely happy to see more of your (AWESOME) artwork. Please don't overdo it, but when you feel up to it... MORE PLEASE! :-D

And thank you to all the guest artists for your awesome efforts. :-)
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 12:40 PM edit delete reply

I am being careful.. trust me!
Sheela 4th Oct 2016, 1:03 PM edit delete reply

You better be!
You still have at least a quarter of a century left in you, and probably more!
KarToon12 3rd Oct 2016, 5:26 PM edit delete reply

Don't shoot Maxus! He's on your side!!
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 12:40 PM edit delete reply

Shooting max would be bad... Shooting at Noctis.. well you have seen what happens then.. LOL
Skweeee 3rd Oct 2016, 8:32 PM edit delete reply

"I thought you said it was clear".

When I was in Afghanistan when there was an IED incident on a route we had conducted a search on earlier, we would hear that. Problem with any clearance is that as soon as you take your eyes off of it, the route becomes less and less reliable. I sympathize.
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2016, 4:43 AM edit delete reply

First, thank you for your service Skweeee. Second I'm glad you made it home. Third, just because you clear something doesn't mean the other side is going to leave it CLEAR. In fact they frequently try to clog it up again.
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 12:39 PM edit delete reply

Sqweee! omg! omg its so good to see you!

im really glad you commented! and yes that is so true! :D
Sheela 4th Oct 2016, 1:08 PM edit delete reply

German military strategist Helmuth von Moltke once said : “No battle plan,” he sagely noted, “survives contact with the enemy.”

It seems to hold true with New Romans too, the enemy just won't do as you want them to do.
Heck, I reckon that goes for clearing mines as well ... when your plan meets the real world, the real world wins.
Gilrandir 4th Oct 2016, 5:31 AM edit delete reply
A thought: What does "Drop your weapons" really mean to someone in full battle armor with integrated weaponry? Next time she confronts a con-goer with a Gatling gun for a shoulder dragon, TeeDee should probably reconsider her dialogue options. ^_^
Timotheus 4th Oct 2016, 11:27 AM edit delete reply

*There is a loud clatter as Steve drops his broom on the floor where he was sweeping up bits of charred blue armor.*
Centcomm 4th Oct 2016, 12:41 PM edit delete reply

IM sure Teedee could have said something better but she went for the classic .. and in her parlance Drop em means lower the barrels or de-target. Or power them down.
Sheela 4th Oct 2016, 1:15 PM edit delete reply

Alternatively, it's a clever plan by TeeDee to put them in a situation that will end up with her shooting at them ... because she needs some more shooting!
Stormwind13 4th Oct 2016, 3:22 PM edit delete reply

Actually I chalked it up to TeeDee's training. She is probably trained more like the police than the Marines.

Also TeeDee is lucky she is dealing with PROFESSIONALS, If they were trained like the Blueboys, it could have been VERY messy considering how heavily armed the suit is.
Mark_L_A 4th Oct 2016, 8:59 PM edit delete reply

Why does this remind me of a bust I did before?

I had read in an Able team book about the guys in the team breaking down a door and yelling "SEX POLICE" And the guys in the room actually stopped.

I thought it was jilarious.

and then a few years later while working for the housing authority I did the same thing on an entry into an apartment.

And EVERYONE stopped. Including the two officers with me.

It just gobsmacked 'em.

And I'm tired and still in a lot of pain from MY dr visit.

I'm going to go lie down now.
Sheela 5th Oct 2016, 11:32 AM edit delete reply

Hah, yeah .. if you can totally flabbergast someone, it can be highly effective.
