this is pretty brutal..
" She killed them first, of course--quickly, cleanly. Torturing them to death in private would have been pointless, a waste of time. Their corpses, bearing all the hallmarks of a slow and agonizing death if not subject to the reality of same, would be a lesson to the Imperator's enemies. The mutilations were performed with attentive care; as necessary, she had even reached into the chest cavity to manipulate the heart, to pump it by hand, in order to force the blood to flow as needed. The stage must be properly set, after all."

Got a phone call at 12:50 PM from Terri's housemate, saying that he'd just dropped her off at the hospital. I haven't yet heard anything from Terri herself, however. Could be good (false alarm and she saw no reason to call and cause anxiety), or could be bad (she's REALLY bad off and hasn't been able to make contact). More info as I receive it.

(Given that Terri is under instructions to call an ambulance when experiencing serious pain or alarming symptoms, the fact that she was driven there normally makes me hopeful that the issue wasn't severe; on the same note, she's called me directly during the other major incidents as soon as she's been able.)

EDIT 5:15 PM: Have talked to Terri; she'd had another bout of chest pain, but nitro calmed it down. First round of blood tests did not show traces of troponin, but they'll be running a second set. If that comes up clean as well, they may send her home.

EDIT 6:15 PM: Second set of tests came back with a troponin level of 1.1; the hospital is keeping Terri at least overnight. No further information on prognosis or treatment at this time.

EDIT 7:45 PM: Terri's got another angiogram scheduled for tomorrow morning. The doctor wants to check for other blockages, verify that the stent is properly in place, and see if additional stents may be needed.

Gosh Argyle it's SO cool of you that you put so much work into this! Amazing! And I actually think your style suits this scene really well <3

About the story-- ah, well this makes sense. Hahaha for some reason I read "recalculating" in the voice of my GPS XDD (because I ALWAYS miss my turn -__-)
Centcomm 10th Oct 2016, 2:13 PM edit delete reply

Im right there with you Serpenty! this is just amazing!

I REALLY can't hear Noctis in that calculated-to-be pleasant voice...
:D
jamie59 10th Oct 2016, 5:18 PM edit delete reply

She's no sadist but someone is going to pay for bad intel.
DLKmusic 10th Oct 2016, 5:56 PM edit delete reply

This, once again, is awesome, Argylefox!. I agree with Serpy, the amount of work that you put into this is... a labor of love!!!!

I'm sure that comparing these pages to the portrait "Scream" is getting old by now, so I'll stop...

People keep thinking Noctis is human like, because she looks human.

But - She is not.
Gilrandir 10th Oct 2016, 7:21 PM edit delete reply
Could you expound on that, @Sheela? I'm not sure how you meant that.
Dragonrider 10th Oct 2016, 9:08 PM edit delete reply

In no way does she look human the white skin with the yellow eyes doesn't even look albino.
Sheela 11th Oct 2016, 7:52 AM edit delete reply

She still looks mostly human.
Two legs, two arms, one head.

Just because it looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, doesn't actually mean that it's *really* a duck!

More specifically, what do you mean by 'thinking she's a human?" And did you mean that as distinct from "thinking she's a person"? Because I'm not currently remembering any instances at all of anyone thinking she's a human, although most people do seem to levying on her the expectations they would have of a person.

What sort of differences would there be, between the two?
Sheela 12th Oct 2016, 6:59 AM edit delete reply

She's a person, but she's not a human person.
People who think she is, are making a major mistake.
Sometimes she will act so human, that it almost hurts .. other times, not so much.
Differences ? I dunno, but her world view will be almost alien to us.
Gilrandir 12th Oct 2016, 8:46 AM edit delete reply
I'm not so confident as you that her worldview would be that different from, say, Arianna's. They are both skilled slaves in a fairly rigid and structured society. You do need to account for differences in environment, so she would obviously hold attitudes and opinions quite different from Dolly (for example) or a resident of Shinedo. And she gets to enjoy all the advantages of a synthetic combat chassis, compared to the birth defect of being born into a meat body in the DataChasers universe. But, fundamentally, her attitudes will be (in my opinion) shaped by the society she (and the other androids) share with the humans that created it.

Usually (again IMHO) when people talk about the trap of considering aliens to be humans they're talking about Star Trek-style aliens with superficially human appearance but very different biological, instinctual, and cultural imperatives. Since Noctis comes from a human culture, the only fundamental influence shaping her behavior that would seem to be different from the pure strain humans she lives with is the inherent superiority of her chassis capabilities. I don't think people expect Spider-Man or Captain America (Steve Rogers) to have "almost alien" world views.

Really, greatly rendered...

With a memory like this, I'm even more surprised that Aurelia would say nasty things to an obvious android (#899- Roma Bigotry), not knowing others were also present, thereby take a chance at poking the bear rather than just make a quick exit.

For some reason there's no voting icon here or on any of my other sites. I wonder if they're having problems or if it's my computer.

So I posted a comment. And it ended up on the wrong page. (How...I don't....whatever.)
(Anyway.)

Recalculating? What is she, GPS?

"I will not torture them to death, no, that's just annoying. I will make others who come later think so. That will sure scare them straight. Its annoying when they wriggle but I must make it look like they did...i shall pump their heart then. Simple."
Tokyo Rose 11th Oct 2016, 5:45 PM edit delete reply

Noctis sees no reason to horribly torture someone to death when there's nobody around to watch it happen and spread the word. Leaving the bodies to be found in a condition that suggests "holy shit these people were horribly tortured to death", ensuring the people who see the bodies will spread that word around, will get the job done just as well.
