Quick and dirty update: Terri called to say that she's had a second stent placed. More information as it becomes available. (I was sleeping thanks to pharmacology when the call came in, so I wasn't really prepared to absorb or relay much information. My apologies.)

Secondary update: I called Terri, who's had quite a bit of Ativan and is thus pretty vague, but was able to tell me that not one, but two additional stents were placed. No idea where, just yet (see: Ativan).

Tertiary update: Two stents were placed in the right coronary artery. This is one of the vessels that was bypassed back in July, and was checked during the last angiogram in mid-September, but it had apparently been occluded by a clot in between then and now. Terri's medications are being adjusted, and with luck, she'll be out of the hospital sometime on Thursday. For now, though, she's in room B-405, direct number 480-412-4565.

That works. No source of nightmare material there.

what do you mean, that's a happy dream. :)
satisfies mission directives and prime directives.
sure little girl might end up being a broody vengeful person in the future, but that might also result in happiness.

truth conceals
many things that
are real
Gilrandir 11th Oct 2016, 10:51 PM edit delete reply
There are some truths in this world that can not be understood, only accepted.

Among these is the statement "There are some truths in this world that can not be understood, only accepted."
DLKmusic 11th Oct 2016, 10:20 PM edit delete reply

Noctis... smiled?

*sits in utter shock*

P.S. Once again, Argylefox, you did a terrific job with this.
cattservant 11th Oct 2016, 10:21 PM edit delete reply

she smiled
Sheela 12th Oct 2016, 7:02 AM edit delete reply

She looks pretty satisfied with herself. :)
Mark_L_A 12th Oct 2016, 9:59 AM edit delete reply

She found and saved an innocent. She fulfilled one of her purposes. I think that would make anyone smile.
Visvires 12th Oct 2016, 3:07 PM edit delete reply
That, and she got all of those spikes through a human skull without causing it to break up entirely and ruin the presentation. Impressive.
Sheela 13th Oct 2016, 5:35 AM edit delete reply

And we may need more work from Argylefox, while Terri is in the hospital.
argylefox 13th Oct 2016, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

I've retired.
Hornet 14th Oct 2016, 5:46 AM edit delete reply
Thank you for the works.
DLKmusic 14th Oct 2016, 11:56 PM edit delete reply

yeah, Argyle... you went above and beyond here, dude! you ROCK, my friend!
Sheela 16th Oct 2016, 4:09 AM edit delete reply

You've retired from arting ?
argylefox 17th Oct 2016, 2:48 AM edit delete reply

Sheela: Mostly, yeah. I no longer have a regular comic to work on.
antrik 15th Oct 2016, 2:58 PM edit delete reply
Apparently she can smile in her "sleep". Which suggests her usual deadpan expression is a conscious effort.
Visvires 16th Oct 2016, 2:50 PM edit delete reply
It's only half a smile. So the deadpan is real but she's cracked it a tad, here.
Ryu Santos 11th Oct 2016, 10:23 PM edit delete reply
Ahhh!Noctis is a big softy when it comes to kids.
Dragonrider 11th Oct 2016, 10:27 PM edit delete reply

And once again Justice(?) prevails, don't understand why a public trial for treason with public execution by hanging wouldn't have served as well, end is the same word is out screw with the Crown and "Dance with Danny Deever."
HiFranc 11th Oct 2016, 10:41 PM edit delete reply

And you have stated several reasons why the justice system in Rome was always iffy.
Ryu Santos 11th Oct 2016, 10:41 PM edit delete reply
A public trial would likely bring unwanted scrutiny to the "Powers That Be" and send other conspirators into hiding. This way the other conspirators start to wonder who ratted them out. Thus they fight amongst themselves destroying the group from within.
Dragonrider 12th Oct 2016, 9:07 PM edit delete reply

Not to be picky however; This is guaranteed to send people into hiding as deep as their covers can get them,, with anyone who drops out effectively committing suicide by fellow conspirators, who will happily cut their throats to keep them quiet.
sigpig 12th Oct 2016, 10:21 AM edit delete reply

Apparently, FWIR, the family was highly-placed within Roma's elite. The results of the trial may well have been... compromising... to the Crown...
HiFranc 11th Oct 2016, 10:45 PM edit delete reply

Once again we see her flexibility in interpreting orders.
Sheela 12th Oct 2016, 7:03 AM edit delete reply

Indeed, and yet she never told a single falsehood!
Stormwind13 12th Oct 2016, 9:34 AM edit delete reply

More prayers for Terri. ::HUGS::

Anxiously awaiting news of the latest test.
Sheela 13th Oct 2016, 5:30 AM edit delete reply

while I'm not religious, and thus not much for prayers, I must admit that I'm hoping for the best of luck with Terri's condition !

Also, she can haz hugs ! :D
mjkj 12th Oct 2016, 12:13 PM edit delete reply

Still great, Argyle...

...and indeed she saved a life =)

argylefox 13th Oct 2016, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Saved, or just didn't take?
Evervigilant 14th Oct 2016, 2:12 AM edit delete reply
I would say she saved. If she didn't act to make her statement that there was no one left alive in the house the "truth" she most likely would have been instructed to kill the girl. Loose ends, having a child grow up with a grudge or any number of reasons would probably have been used to kill her. Since she moved her and created a way to leave her out of the report she saved her in my opinion.
Matt Knab 12th Oct 2016, 12:44 PM edit delete reply

Now that's being creative with the truth.
Stormwind13 12th Oct 2016, 4:19 PM edit delete reply

Thank you, Rose, for the update.

Timotheus 13th Oct 2016, 2:15 AM edit delete reply

I'm seriously considering dragging out my old D&D LARPing gear and sending a "heal wounds" in Centcom's direction. (Of course with my wizard's stats the die roll would probably back fire. That and the freeze dried newt is expired.)
Stormwind13 13th Oct 2016, 4:53 AM edit delete reply

If I could I would haul my 19th level Cleric out of retirement and send him after CentComm, Timotheus. I know Terri is tired of being in the hospital.
Sheela 13th Oct 2016, 5:33 AM edit delete reply

Man, if only real magic was around, I'd specialize in Cure Disease and Healing spells.

Imagine the money you could ma... erhh ... I mean, imagine all the good you could do!
Yup, that's totally what I would do. XD
Stormwind13 13th Oct 2016, 6:04 AM edit delete reply

It is a thankless job Sheela. I mean the idiot fighters are forever getting chewed up then whining about how many hps they are down. No please, no thank you just heal me. And heaven help you if the fighter gets mummy rot or ear worms or something. The whining will get extremely loud as the fighter can't fight it. :-D
DLKmusic 14th Oct 2016, 11:59 PM edit delete reply

They Aren't as bad as the grandstanding wizards that always come up with lame lines like "FEAR ME, YOU EVILDOERS!"...

and they wonder why they are always the first to get attacked, and it's some how the clerics fault that they took 120 points of damage in the first volley...

Yeah, good times!
Timotheus 15th Oct 2016, 12:50 AM edit delete reply

Not me. I always cowered behind the armored fighters and tried to pick off the leaders and my opposite numbers with magic missiles and fire balls.

Paladins for the win! ^_^
DLKmusic 15th Oct 2016, 4:20 AM edit delete reply

Paladins? *sigh*

(Sung to the tune of Nights in White Satin)

Knight in a dungeon, can't find the way out
The Exits are blocked off, and I don't have a scout
The monsters are raging, and they never fight fair
Look there's a dragon, who just scorched off my hair

So I'm running, Yes I'm Running, Ooh, how I'm running

I think that I lost him, My mother said "Son"
"Never adventure, you'll just be a bum"
and now I'm in darkness, cause the torch just went out.
oops what's that click sound, as the floor bottoms out

and I'm falling, Yes I'm falling, Oh how I'm falling,

(spoken interlude)
Breathe deep, the gatherin' gloom
as I roll large boulders across this tomb
blockin' the exits an' barrin' the way
makin' sure this lout will pay

I offered to help him, he said he would pass
an' called me a useless pain in the ass
he called me pond scum and lower than dirt

well that all may be true, but gosh darn, it hurt

(sung)

Look there's the scout now, come to set me free
He'll lead me to safety, for a nominal fee

So I'm Paying, yes I'm paying, Oh, how I'm paying

so I'm paying, yes I'm paying, I'll never stop paying...
Gilrandir 15th Oct 2016, 5:30 AM edit delete reply
Nicely done, @DLKmusic. Is this autobiographical? ^_^

So, after trying to go through the dungeon on his own, and failing dismally, are you saying the knight was back to Squire One? ^_^
DLKmusic (at work) 15th Oct 2016, 9:34 AM edit delete reply
I see what you did there!
DLKmusic (at work) 15th Oct 2016, 10:22 AM edit delete reply
Actually, Gil, I got bored one evening and did several of these... Unfortunately none of them end well for the character at hand...

Sweet Sword of Mine (Sweet Caroline)
I need my spellbook (Heartbreak hotel)
I'm the Halfling (Sound of Silence)
Papa was a greedy knight (Papa was a Rolling Stone)

I guess I have depressing tastes in music or something...
Gilrandir 15th Oct 2016, 10:53 AM edit delete reply
Hey, to (mis?-)quote Crossroads, "The blues ain't nothin' but a good man feelin' bad, ..." An entire genre of music can't be wrong. ^_^

Those sound fun. I take it that, when you sit at the table, you're a GM, then?
Guest 15th Oct 2016, 1:11 PM edit delete reply
Right now, yes, but when I don't GM, I typically play either a cleric or a wizard... or a hybrid of the two... I'm learning to deal with a reputation of being predictable, lol.
Gilrandir 15th Oct 2016, 1:51 PM edit delete reply
I could tell ... you spoke so casually of sending characters off to an unhappy end to alleviate an evening's boredom that I knew being behind the screen came naturally to you. ^_^
DLKmusic (at work) 15th Oct 2016, 2:09 PM edit delete reply
There is nothing casual about sending a character (that someone spent hours creating and years developing) off to an early death.

It is done with malice and glee... To quote Tokyo Rose... "I DRINK YOUR TEARS OF GRIEF IN A BRANDY SNIFTER, BWUHAHAHAHAH"
antrik 15th Oct 2016, 3:25 PM edit delete reply
Don't know about tabletop; but a *heavy* WoW player once told me the exact opposite. Apparently it's standard procedure there to always thank the healers; which people complain about as unnecessary when they play the healers themselves (it's their job after all...) -- but still, when playing other roles, the same people are sticking with the convention, always thanking the healers just like everyone else...
Sheela 16th Oct 2016, 4:15 AM edit delete reply

Having played just about any class combination out there, I often end up with support & healing classes - And I had to stop using brandy shifters, and bottle it in large caskets instead. Player tears sells quite well on the black market.

.... and then there was my Redneck Bard ....
DLKmusic (at work) 16th Oct 2016, 3:20 PM edit delete reply
I'm not much into player tears when I'm one of the players, sheela... but as a GM? lol...

I can see why there's a market for tears by the cask, but I prefer mine fresh from the player...

So, I was browsing the archives a bit and came across some commentary by @Sheela & @Centcomm for Comic 1259 - Status Report with these time stamps:
* - Sheela 18th Sep 2015, 9:52 AM
* - Centcomm 18th Sep 2015, 3:24 PM

Should we be running now? (Honestly, Noctis gets such an undeserved bad rep!)

Text below. (I'd use a spoiler tag, but they don't appear to work in the comments areas.)

Noctis is indeed cute, in her own adorable blank faced way.

She about the only person that could pull off a japanese lolita outfit (complete with combat boots), while doing caramell-dansen, and still not crack a single smile.

If you ever see her smile ... RUN!

yes she could Sheela. and yes. If you ever ever see her crack a smile. you are in for a world of pain.

To be honest, I see this as a sort of secret, inside smile that no one ever saw actually on her face. These are HER memories/dreams after all.

Sheela 16th Oct 2016, 4:16 AM edit delete reply

I'm missing a reference here, am I not?
Gilrandir 16th Oct 2016, 5:14 AM edit delete reply
There was (is?) a news story on the CNN website with relevance to cardiac patients. I am inferring that @Dragonrider was making sure @Tokyo Rose and @Centcomm were aware of it.
Tokyo Rose 16th Oct 2016, 4:13 PM edit delete reply

Correct. A specific device made by a specific company, used during open-heart surgeries to regulate the temperature of a patient's blood and organs, has been identified as a potential source of infection by a bacterial species of nontuberculous mycobacterium. *twitch*
Sheela 16th Oct 2016, 4:15 PM edit delete reply

Morituri 16th Oct 2016, 7:50 PM edit delete reply
It's not true that Noctis never smiles.

It may however, be true that no living person has ever seen her smile.

Right. "Living." The same kind of literal truth Noctis is telling above.
DLKmusic 16th Oct 2016, 9:04 PM edit delete reply

Noctis brought the child to the neighbors doorstep. All that was left in the domicile were 3 mutilated corpses
Morituri 16th Oct 2016, 9:17 PM edit delete reply
And all that is left of those who have seen Noctis smile would be .... Oh. Yeah. Exactly that kind of literal truth.
Hana 17th Oct 2016, 3:12 AM edit delete reply
"No living human remains within the domicile."

Sounds formal and scientific but specific right? Cept it can be interpreted 2 ways and both are true.

"There is no human being still alive within the target home"
Which of course is true both by means of death and displacement of all living humans - this interpretation has a semi-loophole in itself.

And

"Only the remains of mutilated DEAD humans are within the the target home."
Because she left what could really only be described as human remains, not whole bodies.

All in 7 words. No wonder Noctis enjoys wordplay, shes clever as hell at it (as in, you are, Tokyo Rose!)
