When someone murders a guy in front of you, and is covered in blood as they let you free, that's the time you RUN, and save the tragic backstories for later!
It might not be quite that way to the kids, KarToon. They have been raised in a society where bloody gladiatorial games are the norm. Plus Miraiko apparently had 'history' with the now deceased slave master. So she is less likely to slaughter them out of hand, they don't have that history with her.
When you are powerless, a guardian that could deal with threats like Miraiko might be tempting. So the fearful hope that Miraiko might help them seems to be entirely plausible to me.
I was going to say mjkj, I think Miraiko is telling the bald truth. She has NO interest in the kids.
Julia on the other hand... she has proven to be altruistic. Once upon a time she picked up a stray kitten (slave girl) who turned out to be a sabertooth TIGER (as dickhead just discovered). If anyone is going to 'adopt' the kids it would be Julia.
so uh scary lady,, tale us with you...
rightttt.!! she just flayed a thing to death an you never met her now you want to run away with her...... NOPE
or wood this be ,, ill go with the monster i know...?
Okay, they might be of legal age in some jurisdictions, but these are lower-class children. They have slave collars. They lack the knowledge to remove them. There father is not able to care for them, and may have offed himself after he had to sell them. The man who was about to commit atrocities on them has just been sliced & diced by a former victim. Why exactly would they NOT try to get said former victim to at least get them set up for, like a week's worth of food?
Question now is; A)How pisssed off is Miraiko gonna get with Julia when she brings the kids along, B)How big a ship does Miraiko have stashed away. This ain't gonna set well, Miraiko was looking forward to a long private trip home the Looooonnnnggggg way, with Julia. The first order of business was going to be getting Julia's clothes off her then shagging her until they both could not move. Plus some Japanese language and culture lessons to help Julia feel at home and fit right in the the House of Rose.
Well, it looks like Sykes has had the rare experience of the "not-so-little death by a thousand cuts", which caused him to come apart entirely, as well as coming his guts out and coming all over everything in a quite literal sense, splashing his hot, sticky mess over the whole surroundings... if he wasn't satisfied by that, I can state with certainty that he never will be! >:=D>
Now, what of these foundlings? Who out there might be prepared to take them in?

The best bet would be to send a message to Maxus asking him to help them. If they were to try to accompany Miraiko and Julia, Miraiko might kill them because being accompanied by them might risk Julia. Of course, I don't think Miraiko would have a hard time convincing them not to follow if she decided to be scary.

So Miraiko has slaughtered quite a lot of other people in the past few hours and had no noticeable blood spattered on her self or her clothes.
I feel like the fact that she happily splattered Sykes' blood all over herself and her clothes says something here. I'm not sure what it says, but it seems she probably could've avoided it if she wanted to, so it seems deliberate.
No she knew exactly what she was doing, this was with malice aforethought. Remember she told Julia to wait so she didn't get red on her, have a feeling if she wasn't in a hurry to get Julia to their new home she would have been MUCH slower and prolonged it to savor the revenge. And would have made sure the remains were on public display as a warning to others.
It was a statement ... and it was made with fashion. Not every girl has what it takes to accessorize with the gore of her enemies, nor does every girl appear to take such ... sensual enjoyment in it. (Although it seems fair to grant these are extraordinary circumstances.)
However, we should consider this ... at the beginning of the flaying process, Miraiko was armored up, so any blood splatter from Sykes would either soak into her clothing, or fall on metal. Afterwards, however, we see a goodly amount of blood splatter on bare flesh -- suggesting either that Miraiko placed it there herself after the fact, or that she reverted to flesh before finishing her revels with Sykes' remains. It seems fairly obvious the only reason the blood spatter is there is because she wanted it to be, not merely because she was unconcerned about it. (Although, of course, as always, the creative team are the only ones who can make pronouncements with certainty -- this is just my opinion.)
So, to me, that's definitely Miraiko saying something -- whether even she realizes it or not. Otherwise the Parisian nanites would undoubtedly have tidied the organic debris up to the limit of their abilities. ^_^
Consider this, she unarmored after she found how many strikes it took to get to the center of an asshole. Then finished the very messy but enjoyable task of disassembling him by hand, that would have produced the blood spatter we see. Fairly certain CSI Nova Roma ain't gonna have an easy job reconstructing this scene.

Calmly, respectfully, carefully, and purposefully backing away is a much better response.
Granted, Miraiko isn't likely to be someone that running would cause a problem, but as a general rule with an unknown I'd watch running.
...or at least Julia is...

"Miraiko: The Spy Who Shagged Me"
(sorry. couldn't stop myself)
*runs screaming, away from Miraiko*
*doesn't make it*
She has this thing about being abandoned. I just can't see her doing the same to them.

Do A.I.s wanting to end a conversation tell each other "Talk to the buffer!"? ^_^ (versus "Talk to the hand!")

I guess Miraiko was a little angrier than even she realized. She enjoyed reducing dickhead to paste a little too much.
