Dolly, While Marcus, TeeDee, Ada and Silver might have gotten Lynn out, YOU are the reason Lynn wasn't shanked by douchimus
megados 18th Jan 2017, 7:22 AM edit delete reply

Well put.
Stormwind13 17th Jan 2017, 9:17 PM edit delete reply

Ada praying to the First Circuit?

Yeah, TeeDee, he really IS that big. And your current frame makes it feel even worse, I suspect.
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 12:24 AM edit delete reply

Rather, I think Ada is chanting.
Kinda like the orthodox church do.
Technically it is a prayer, but it's usually used to calm the mind.

And poor TeeDee and her size inferiority complex. :D
I can just see her in the body shops holo design :

TeeDee :" Ok, ok, the mods are good but ... I want it bigger."
Technician : *makes it fatter*
TeeDee : "No, no, I mean BIGGER!" *flails arms around*
Technician : *makes it more muscular*
TeeDee : "Okay, that's nice .. erh, I mean - NO! Taller damnit!"
Technician : *sighs* "Listen Miss TDE-ki32 .."
TeeDee : "That's TDE-ki32-3F to you!"
Technician : "Right, as I was saying, you are.."
TeeDee : "No, that's not what you were saying, you omitted the -3F."
Technician : "Oh ok, Miss TDE-ki32-3f .."
TeeDee : "-3F!"
Technician : "What?"
TeeDee : "-3F!"
Technician : "Allright, allright -3F then, happy now ?"
TeeDee : "As a pig in mud."
TeeDee : "Now make me taller!"
Technician : "You are already pushing the upper limits of what height you can be, without ending up with body disphoria!"
TeeDee : "Yeah, yeah, I can handle it - Just add a few inches more."
Technician : "According to your file you have some experience with that. It didn't go well!"
TeeDee : "I can handle it! What ? Who do you trust more, me or a dusty old file ?"
Technician : "The file."
TeeDee : "C'mon, just a few inches?"
Technician : "No."
TeeDee : "Come ooon, just a few little inchies, it's not like I'm asking for a whole foot!"
Technician : "No."
TeeDee : "One inch ?"
Technician : "NO, dammit!"
TeeDee : "#¤%&//##"#¤###"
Technician : "And I'm upgrading your profanity filter too."
TeeDee : "NOOOOOOO!!!"
Dragonrider 19th Jan 2017, 5:04 AM edit delete reply

Rose will thwap you with the rolled up newspaper of profanity for upgrading TeeDees filter.
Tokyo Rose 19th Jan 2017, 7:33 AM edit delete reply

Imposing a profanity filter on Teedee would be like throwing a blanket over the sun. It would not work and you would be incinerated in a fraction of a second for even trying. :D
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 11:38 AM edit delete reply

He he he he ... at least we're not trying to install a profanity filter on YOU Rose, we do know when a task is impossible. :D
Stormwind13 19th Jan 2017, 1:33 PM edit delete reply

Naw Dragonrider... TeeDee will just abuse it until it smokes and stops working like the last couple dozen that have been tried on her. :-D
HeSerpenty 17th Jan 2017, 9:23 PM edit delete reply

That's right, Dolly! U listen to lil' Lynn it means the world to her that you came!
Centcomm 18th Jan 2017, 8:55 PM edit delete reply

it really does.
megados 19th Jan 2017, 6:45 AM edit delete reply

If such a thing is possible, their bond will be strengthened all the more.
jamie59 17th Jan 2017, 9:30 PM edit delete reply

TeeDee feeling a little inferior?
I spot a Lass of Liberty.
Centcomm 18th Jan 2017, 12:39 PM edit delete reply

Yes you do! Thank Steven Vincent for the render.
Dragonrider 17th Jan 2017, 9:33 PM edit delete reply

Tennya is the Cassion who will be in charge of The Cassion Contingent in Noctis absence I think. I believe there may be a power shift in the making, Noctis seemed very distracted when answering Maxus questions, also I note she omitted the Title Lord Regent when addressing Maxus, addressing him merely as Lord General, big demotion in that..
SeanR 18th Jan 2017, 8:34 AM edit delete reply
Dragonrider,
No demotion at all. He's Lord Regent Apparent. He's not Lord Regent until the Senate confirms him.
Gilrandir 18th Jan 2017, 10:11 AM edit delete reply
I do find it a bit strange that she gave him the title earlier, then uses the lower ranking title here. It suggests she was either careless in her speech earlier (not a trait I associate with Noctis), or that some relevant circumstance has changed.

I suppose, if she considers "Lord General" to be a higher ranking title than "Lord Regent" (which it should not be), then the following would make sense:

While Decimus promotion of Adventus is still in force, she cannot legitimately call Maxus "Lord General", but is unwilling to deny him any honorific and so decides to use "Lord Regent" (which I find problematic, absent Senate confirmation, but perhaps she does not). Once Adventus' promotion has been revoked, she is able to return to the more comfortable and accustomed "Lord General".
Centcomm 18th Jan 2017, 12:39 PM edit delete reply

Maxus is not a big guy on titles. Noctis knows this.
Gilrandir 18th Jan 2017, 12:42 PM edit delete reply
So, she should just be calling him "Maxie". ^_^
Centcomm 19th Jan 2017, 9:59 AM edit delete reply

that would be not like Noctis at all.
Gilrandir 19th Jan 2017, 10:09 AM edit delete reply
We'll just file "Lord Regent" next to Maxus' armor -- they both got dropped for ... reasons. ^_^
megados 19th Jan 2017, 7:47 PM edit delete reply

I can't even imagine getting three pages done each week with no buffer, atop real life day to day . . . I dunno . . . I'm fine with it. ;o)
StellarJay 19th Jan 2017, 12:11 AM edit delete reply

I suppose calling Maxus "big guy" would be correct in more ways than one, but such informality may be too much even for him.
Stormwind13 19th Jan 2017, 6:30 AM edit delete reply

Maxus isn't big on titles, he's just BIG! So he gets whatever title he wants (or doesn't want as the case is)! :-D
Tokyo Rose 19th Jan 2017, 3:38 PM edit delete reply

Noctis called him "Lord Regent" as an acknowledgement of his new status (pending Senate approval). He is currently still acting primarily in his Senate-confirmed office of Lord General, however.

Adventus's "promotion" was technically not legal, as he was NOT examined for suitability by the administration of the Roma military nor confirmed by the Senate. Also, Maxus was never officially relieved of his position. Decimus's habit of doing things in the "BECAUSE I SAID SO" manner of a nine-year-old throwing a tantrum wouldn't have worked very well.
Gilrandir 19th Jan 2017, 4:53 PM edit delete reply
I don't want to be contentious, nor to imply that this is not your story to tell and your characters to voice. I was a little surprised when Noctis used the title before he was confirmed in the rank, but I was more surprised when she (for no apparent reason) stopped using it, after first having used it. That was a bit ... jarring. Or suggestive that something significant is happening off-camera to justify the change.
Centcomm 18th Jan 2017, 12:38 PM edit delete reply

Correct SeanR
Timotheus 18th Jan 2017, 3:01 PM edit delete reply

Just don't call him "late for dinner", right?
Gilrandir 17th Jan 2017, 9:49 PM edit delete reply
Will the answer to the question of why Maxus abandoned his battle armor be forthcoming?

Also, will we get to find out what Quintus has been doing? He was with them when they left Damnatio Memoriae, but not with them in the tunnels. Since Maxus was in-communication (via Noctis) at that point, there doesn't seem to be any obvious reason for him to have left their company.
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 12:29 AM edit delete reply

Maybe the armor would not fit in the space shuttle ?
Though why not wait to take it off until you arrive at the shuttle ?
Or maybe he's trying to keep a low profile ? (yeah right)
Gilrandir 19th Jan 2017, 12:34 AM edit delete reply
I doubt Maxus will be riding in the shuttle anyway. I expect he'll be staying in Nova Roma, working to bring order out of chaos.
Tokyo Rose 19th Jan 2017, 7:34 AM edit delete reply

The real reason is that while Cent thought it looked quite badass and would work okay, she actually found it EXTREMELY difficult to work with in renders and wanted to get rid of it ASAP.
chk 19th Jan 2017, 9:10 AM edit delete reply

He looks pretty badass alright.
Centcomm 19th Jan 2017, 9:58 AM edit delete reply

Rose is.. correct. Sorry but there is no subtext of why the armor is gone. In universe the weapons were expended.. or he didnt need it anymore. Take your pick.
HiFranc 17th Jan 2017, 10:05 PM edit delete reply

I like the call out to Liberty Lass - another local comic on my subscription list.
chk 18th Jan 2017, 9:15 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, Liberty Lass is shaping up to be a good comic.
rfaramir 18th Jan 2017, 10:40 AM edit delete reply
I'm prone to like it just from the title, plus being recommended here. Haven't read it yet, though.
DLKmusic 18th Jan 2017, 8:20 PM edit delete reply

I like it too. Watching his art improve on each page is really something. I also like the throwback style to the Bronze Age of comics. It's kinda refreshing!
HiFranc 17th Jan 2017, 10:09 PM edit delete reply

I'm guessing that the demotion of Decimus's choice didn't go to plan.
cattservant 17th Jan 2017, 10:38 PM edit delete reply

Hip deep in politics and half way to the boats.
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 12:30 AM edit delete reply

Wait, wait .. who are we shipping now ?

TeeDee and Maxus ?
velvetsanity 17th Jan 2017, 11:19 PM edit delete reply

Is that feminine approval in Teedee's thoughts? ROFLMAO
xpacetrue 18th Jan 2017, 1:21 AM edit delete reply

I was thinking that Teedee may have some size issues, like feeling small compared to larger model warriors. I can't quote a page, but I distinctly remember Teedee saying something about wishing she was larger. I also remember Ada saying that, back when they were young AI, Teedee wanted to become one of those big war machines (mechs) when she grew up.
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 12:31 AM edit delete reply

Yeah, she definitely have a size inferiority complex going. :D
Brian 17th Jan 2017, 11:32 PM edit delete reply
Yup. The Liberty Lass cameo made me laugh. Was not expecting that at all.
Rashala 18th Jan 2017, 12:30 AM edit delete reply

Maxius is thinking I wonder if she is shorter out of that armor I bet.

Also dolly had you not come who would be giving cennty a much needed butt tanning when this is over?? Also there would have been no %sniffle% ceci.
Dragonrider 18th Jan 2017, 12:37 AM edit delete reply

Their would have been a Ceci just not the adorable little Ditz we and Dolly fell in love with. Idea lets trade whatshisface for Ceci, Kyle can go to Shinedo and work as a cyber troubleshooter for Rose and we never have to see his irritating ass again.
Rashala 19th Jan 2017, 12:23 AM edit delete reply

Give back ceci and the slave girl and maxis finally has a baby girl named after her añd I 2ill hog tie his blue haired butt and deliver him personally with a crate of good saki!
Dragonrider 19th Jan 2017, 5:09 AM edit delete reply

Fuck that don't waste the Saki, Rose made his insufferable ass more insufferable she can put up with it sober.
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 11:42 AM edit delete reply

I bet TeeDee got the armor with high heels, so yes, she *will* be shorter out of armor. XD
Centcomm 19th Jan 2017, 12:20 PM edit delete reply

Nope shes got flats. Shes not a idiot. LOL
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 7:33 PM edit delete reply

An idiot ?
Why, we would never imply that....

Ok, ok, so maybe we would. >_<
mjkj 18th Jan 2017, 12:58 AM edit delete reply

So, now it all comes together...

Hmmm, Ada is reciting a hymnal or psalm of the first circuit...?

DLKmusic 18th Jan 2017, 1:26 AM edit delete reply

She's Reciting the poem "Sons of Martha" by Kipling, it's a prayer of the first circuit, Rose recited the poem in it's emtirety on Sons of Martha and Countdown .

The first time I read it I was blown away, and thought Rose had written it! then I read the Authors notes and went back to feeling like an idiot!

P.S. I still stand by my statement Rose, I DO still think you're a good enough writer to have authored this!
Just_IDD 18th Jan 2017, 6:10 AM edit delete reply
kipling wrote of the railroad men, but it equally applies to electronic folk. I think part of it may have been either quoted or paraphrased in Larry Niven's "The Roads Must Roll"
Dragonrider 18th Jan 2017, 6:30 AM edit delete reply

@Just_IDD; The Roads Must Roll was not Nivin it was Robert Heinlein. First Published in Astounding Tales June 1940 and was included in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume One (1929-1964).
Sheela 19th Jan 2017, 12:32 AM edit delete reply

Wait, wait .. is Larry Niven quoting Rose now ?
Tokyo Rose 19th Jan 2017, 7:36 AM edit delete reply

I'm still gobsmacked that anybody would think me talented enough to compare with KIPLING. Especially in the realm of poetry. O_O
megados 19th Jan 2017, 7:49 AM edit delete reply

Don't sell yourself short. ;)
Stormwind13 19th Jan 2017, 1:38 PM edit delete reply

Really don't sell yourself short, Rose. You are incredible with the words that help convey this story. It wouldn't be as enjoyable without your hard work. :-)
chk 18th Jan 2017, 9:13 AM edit delete reply

So. why is he out of his armor?
Gilrandir 18th Jan 2017, 10:13 AM edit delete reply
An excellent question, @chk. ^_^
Timotheus 19th Jan 2017, 12:09 PM edit delete reply

He probably had to take it off to fix something mechanical. Hence the reason he's carrying that wrench in his left hand. (I know it's not a wrench, but it sure looked like one the first time I saw it.)
KarToon12 18th Jan 2017, 1:41 PM edit delete reply

Maxus is basically the reverse of the classic "you're kinda' small for a stormtrooper" line. XD
robnot 18th Jan 2017, 4:48 PM edit delete reply
ok read it ... Liberty lass!
like yours better..
but i will continue to read it
lalverson 18th Jan 2017, 6:03 PM edit delete reply

There is something about this page that has a "Natural" feel to it. Very well done!
Haegan2005 18th Jan 2017, 6:27 PM edit delete reply

Hmm. Enroute to help. What could possibly go wrong?

Knowing Cent and Rose, quite a bit!
Mark_L_A 19th Jan 2017, 12:45 AM edit delete reply

Now I'm not sure. I"ve re-read the page several times, gone back and read back up to this point.

I've got a bad feeling about this.
Gilrandir 19th Jan 2017, 12:07 PM edit delete reply
I am amused by what I suspect was an unintentional parallel between two disparate pages. (Though I could be wrong, the creative team is just that good.)

"0600" ----------------------- "Archpriest's Entourage"
Acantha --------------------- Setorius
Maxus ----------------------- Septimus
TeeDee ---------------------- Paladin #1
Noctis ------------------------ Paladin #2
Ada --------------------------- Cassy
Lynn -------------------------- Sephra
Dolly -------------------------- Tona

Now it is making me want a "Shaun of the Dead" scene where the two groups pass each other. ^_^
Matt Knab 19th Jan 2017, 3:15 PM edit delete reply

Heheh, nice cross promotion. :)
Steven-Vincent 19th Jan 2017, 10:16 PM edit delete reply

Hee hee.

I love seeing that little cameo of my character in your comic. Glad the render I did worked out for you. It looks good there... just like a TV commercial.

Thanks for the shout out.

Now I will have to have a 'Data Chasers' spot air on a TV in Liberty Lass the next time a scene calls for a commercial. ;)
Centcomm 19th Jan 2017, 10:23 PM edit delete reply

Id like that! And yes this is canon now :D Liberty lass is a show. :D
Sheela 20th Jan 2017, 12:04 AM edit delete reply

That does sounds like a lovely idea.

Also, nice render. :)
