Pride goeth efotte a fall Lynn.. Though I said the seam thing about Piper Cubs, and Thuds.
Centcomm 14th Feb 2017, 11:22 PM edit delete reply

Well the Nevarro is the " starter " ship many learn on its very forgiving and armored like a brick Lot of traders use it because its custom ECM package and shields and armor let it just simply ignore most damage. Or just be hard to target.
Haegan2005 14th Feb 2017, 9:11 PM edit delete reply

I guess I should stay on the ground.

(ahem. glad those weren't real planes...)
Dragonrider 14th Feb 2017, 10:09 PM edit delete reply

Republic F105 Thunderchief and Piper Cubs not real planes? Check Wikipdia and Air War history for Vietnam the Thud was our original main battle aircraft. Avery forgiving aiir raft if you teared her well.
Haegan2005 14th Feb 2017, 10:12 PM edit delete reply

I used to play the Falcon 3.0 flight simulator when 2 MB of RAM was a big thing. My comment was in response to Lynn's last lines. :)

When i first came to the page your post had not appeared yet so my apologies if you thought I was responding to you.
Dragonrider 14th Feb 2017, 11:02 PM edit delete reply

There are old Thud pilots. There are. bold Thud pilots there are Damn few old, bold Thud pilots.
All the Pickles 15th Feb 2017, 4:36 AM edit delete reply

But surely there's something to be said for there being more than none.
robnot 15th Feb 2017, 9:17 AM edit delete reply
Dragonrider @ ? Blackhole ??
Dragonrider 16th Feb 2017, 2:28 PM edit delete reply

robnot 16th Feb 2017, 3:46 PM edit delete reply
was asking if that was a movie quote..?
the movie Blackhole quote : There are old pilots. there are bold pilots. but there are no old bold pilots.
Dragonrider 16th Feb 2017, 4:47 PM edit delete reply

No was paraphrasing an instructor I once had. He said there are old, crafty warriors and there are bold warriors but damn few old, bold warriors.
StellarJay 17th Feb 2017, 12:44 AM edit delete reply

That saying has been around for quite a while. It was popular in the Army Air Corps in WW2, according to my father who served in the corps as a flight controller. Who knows how long that saying was in use before that?
Gilrandir 14th Feb 2017, 9:12 PM edit delete reply
I'm guessing Astraea wears purple because of the long and honorable history in armed conflict of ... grape shot. ^_^
Haegan2005 14th Feb 2017, 9:30 PM edit delete reply

OMG! That is a sheela level pun!

She's going to have to work hard to top that one.
Gilrandir 14th Feb 2017, 9:32 PM edit delete reply
DLKmusic 15th Feb 2017, 7:30 PM edit delete reply

Agreed, Haegen... I believe Sheela will applaud that one, and then steal Gil's steak dinner when he isn't looking!
megados 15th Feb 2017, 7:54 PM edit delete reply

. . . and his shoes . !
Haegan2005 15th Feb 2017, 11:00 PM edit delete reply

Dang straight. She doesn't do things by halves!
Gilrandir 15th Feb 2017, 11:41 PM edit delete reply
If you're saying @Sheela is a halve-not, I suppose I can donate a bit of steak and a pair of shoes. ^_^
megados 16th Feb 2017, 7:32 AM edit delete reply

She's gonna kill us. You know that, right? :-)
Gilrandir 16th Feb 2017, 8:30 AM edit delete reply
I don't even know if @Shee's a 'she'. As far as I know, @Sheela only identifies as 'doggy', and all of their nouns retain their amateur standing. ^_^
megados 16th Feb 2017, 8:50 AM edit delete reply

Why does that matter, if we're dead? LOL Sheela's a nice doggy, if a little hard on shoes, but hey, who's perfect?
Gilrandir 16th Feb 2017, 9:11 AM edit delete reply
But I have already said that I'm willing to barter for my life with steak and shoes. I should be fine.

After all, once I've handed over the shoes, it isn't as if @Sheela would be completely sole-less. ^_^ And, if I pass over a venison steak, @Sheela won't be completely hart-less, so I think my odds will be good.^_^
megados 16th Feb 2017, 5:27 PM edit delete reply

I guess it's up to Sheela. I already have extra shoes handy. I got nothin' LOL
Haegan2005 16th Feb 2017, 6:40 PM edit delete reply

Sheela 18th Feb 2017, 9:26 PM edit delete reply

*lurks like a shark*

You're all dipping your toes in the waters of punning, and I have oh-so-many teeth! >:)
Gilrandir 18th Feb 2017, 9:33 PM edit delete reply
"If it lurks like a shark, and swims like a shark, it's probably a shark."

"Sharks have incredibly sensitive senses of smell. How does it smell?"

"Terrible." ^_^
Sheela 18th Feb 2017, 10:42 PM edit delete reply

Oh hey look, a demonic duck!

megados 14th Feb 2017, 9:14 PM edit delete reply

There's Astraea's field generator.

Re: Alt text, Yes. Yes she does.

Lynn's got this! (She looks good in Ceci's jacket) <melancholy feeling>
velvetsanity 14th Feb 2017, 10:08 PM edit delete reply

Would that flight instructor happen to be named Dolly? :D
StellarJay 14th Feb 2017, 11:39 PM edit delete reply

I think Lynn would have said that Dolly had taught her if that had been the case. Her instructor remains unidentified.

"There are some flight instructors where the student is important, and there are some instructors where the instructor is important. Pick carefully."
Centcomm 15th Feb 2017, 3:14 PM edit delete reply

She had a Android instructor. And automated courses.
Gilrandir 16th Feb 2017, 6:57 PM edit delete reply
Dolly is an android, right @Centcomm? So that doesn't confirm or rule out Dolly as flight instructor. ^_^

I infer, however, that you mean 'an android who isn't Dolly'.
Nef 14th Feb 2017, 11:35 PM edit delete reply

Kill it? No? Awwww! I wanted to Kill it!
The Old Scribe 14th Feb 2017, 11:41 PM edit delete reply

Yes indeedy, Astraea is indeed badass. I also like the design of her Battle Pod in Panel 1. With that haircut and green skin, she reminds me a tad of the space women in the strip 'Too Much Information', but without the large eyes and antennas. :D
Tokyo Rose 15th Feb 2017, 1:19 AM edit delete reply

Her skin's actually like D&D drow elf black. :D
megados 15th Feb 2017, 9:19 AM edit delete reply

On this page, and the last, Astraea is very striking! :D
Timotheus 16th Feb 2017, 12:44 AM edit delete reply

Drow Tales! Woo Hoo! Let's solve a mystery, or rewrite history!(Remember the fall of Tek'alith!)
HiFranc 15th Feb 2017, 1:17 AM edit delete reply

I think the cassian escorting Dr Silver and TeeDee would get on. Just like TeeDee, she seems to find shooting things fun.
All the Pickles 15th Feb 2017, 5:32 AM edit delete reply

That's roughly what I thought about Malati. I was hoping she would meet Teedee, but then she had to go and do... that...
megados 15th Feb 2017, 7:21 AM edit delete reply

I have to agree, Astraea seems to enjoy it, and seems to be good at it, like TeeDee.
mjkj 15th Feb 2017, 2:06 AM edit delete reply

So, doc silver is safe for the moment. But a persona non grata...

Yeah, sure TeeDee, she really got you...

Hmmm, Lynn, famous last words? ;)

@alt text: indeed, even from a non-biased perspective. =D

DLKmusic 15th Feb 2017, 2:03 PM edit delete reply

Uhm, Teedee, I hate to break it to you, but there was a reason why she had room and you didn't...

I'll let you do the math from there...
megados 15th Feb 2017, 5:14 AM edit delete reply

DC has slipped to 10th! Don't forget to VOTE!

Also, is TeeDee expressing the slightest amount of . . . doubt?
I don't know, but I think Noctis has her respect . . . or dislike.
Anyway, Noctis get a move on!
antrik 15th Feb 2017, 5:57 PM edit delete reply
I think what really gets to TeeDee here is that she is all about size; how she could do more if she just had a larger chassis... And here she gets clobbered by someone just as diminutive.
megados 15th Feb 2017, 6:12 PM edit delete reply

antrik, I don't think TeeDee has anything to worry about, and here's why I think that.

Noctis has a lot of custom modifications. Centcomm said she has blades under her fingernails, and I don't know what else. TeeDee doesn't have those that I'm aware of, but I think she does have a combat chassis (I could be wrong). So I think what it boils down to, is that if Noctis couldn't use her extra enhancements, TeeDee would probably kick her ass. If she could use them, Noctis would probably win. That is just a guess on my part, though.
DLKmusic 15th Feb 2017, 7:24 PM edit delete reply

That's only part of it, Megados, at least IMHO. Teedee had let her guard down, Noctis never did. If Teedee had been standing out of reach where she could have brought her firearm into play if needed, this scenario would have played out a lot differently, enhancements or not.

TeeDee has a Kick-ass frame, but Noctis has experience.

megados 15th Feb 2017, 7:40 PM edit delete reply

True, dat. If TeeDee would have shot Noctis, (and I do think she would have had to shoot her; Noctis is very fast), it would have played out differently. But then I have to wonder how the rest would would have played out without Noctis to get Asraea to stand down.
But the point was, that TeeDee has nothing to worry about, because in a fair contest, no weapons, no mods, TeeDee would win it, 'cuz she's (*looks around for Sheela*) "sturdy" . . . she's got a zillion HP and high DEF, and STR, and she's also pretty fast. Without Noctis' blades she loses a lot of ATK, but she has an edge on SPD, and INT. (I think) At least that's how I interpret it.
DLKmusic 16th Feb 2017, 4:11 PM edit delete reply

Good point megados. I think my money would still be on Noctis, but the fight would be a hell of a lot closer that pwn Noctis dished out here.

Experience does matter.
megados 16th Feb 2017, 4:44 PM edit delete reply

It's close enough that I think maybe LCK will be a big factor. Either way, I think what I'd rather see though, would be TeeDee and Noctis side by side. I wouldn't want to be anything, or anyone in the way!
antrik 15th Feb 2017, 5:58 PM edit delete reply
That Navarro looks seriously disconcerting from close up... If the Rust is really just cosmetic, it is pretty damn convincing :-)
Centcomm 16th Feb 2017, 2:03 AM edit delete reply

Oh the rust is real .. very real.
megados 16th Feb 2017, 6:16 AM edit delete reply

A little sand blasting, primer, coat of paint . . . good as new! :-D (Good job!)
Steven-Vincent 15th Feb 2017, 6:03 PM edit delete reply

Did Lynn never hear the one about famous last words?
Centcomm 16th Feb 2017, 2:02 AM edit delete reply

HAh she did this once before .. and look where that got her!
KarToon12 15th Feb 2017, 6:46 PM edit delete reply

Well Lynn was flying pretty well until she got kidnapped. So as long as they don't get attacked or anything, she should be just fine. (Up goes red flag.)
DLKmusic 15th Feb 2017, 7:27 PM edit delete reply

This time if they get attacked, she has Teedee running armament and ECM systems... Something Teedee is experienced and very good at!
Timotheus 16th Feb 2017, 12:38 AM edit delete reply

But the Nevarro has no weapons systems, just armor. Of course Teedee could be considered a weapons system (with her canon if she still has it).
highly irregular 16th Feb 2017, 5:53 AM edit delete reply
Yay, the story's not over!
I mean, Sorry Lynn, the story's not over.

It ain't over till the two ladies sing.
Deoxy 16th Feb 2017, 8:07 AM edit delete reply
The "tech expert" only came to New Troy due to act act of war BY New Troy, and would likely only return under similar circumstances, anyway - it seems extremely doubtful she'd return there under any other circumstance, even without said threat.
Tokyo Rose 16th Feb 2017, 3:49 PM edit delete reply

Noctis just wants to make absolutely sure it's clear that Dr. Silver is persona non grata.

If anybody asks Dr. Silver, she'd probably say "Who would want to voluntarily visit this rathole anyway?" but nobody's asking her. :D
megados 16th Feb 2017, 4:23 PM edit delete reply

That seems to be the prevailing opinion. Marcus said "you couldn't give me this place". I can't blame them; they weren't given a very positive impression. ;-)
