Entirely irrelevant, but is that Tokyo Rose's agent in the background? The one married to the android that gave Kyle a little tip on fitting in in Nova Roma?
Or rather, is that the same model and customization settings as that for Tokyo Rose's agent?
Don't forget this is Prince Livus! He is the bright light for their shadows. They haven't gotten as jaded as they would after having served under Prince Decimus. This is a flash back probably about 20-40 years. Actually I would say the lady with Rose's Agent looks like the Firebrand female Capitan of the Nova Roma guard. Of course it could be her sister who was killed by strange circumstances as well.
Why do I get the feeling that I'm gonna like Columbina as much as I liked CeCi, and get my heart pulled out of my chest again... Through the back of my neck?
@megados: I don't think so, Megados. I'm pretty sure rose wants to pull my heart out through my chest. That way she can look me in the eyes and savor the pain and suffering that she finds there.
Good point, Antrik. However, I really like Noctis, and I'm already seeing that she had the same bond with Columbina that Dolly had with CeCi...
The comparison between Noctis/Columbina and Dolly/CeCi gets Exacerbated by the fact that Dolly only knew CeCi for less than two weeks. Noctis knew Columbina for ...Years?
I gotta stop... I'm depressing myself. YOUR FAULT, EVIL DUO!
Since she said "we were", I thought it was a given that she was one of the four?...
(Also, I don't think any event not involving herself could have been traumatic enough to trigger this kind of violent and probably irrational behaviour she showed towards the "monster"...)
Well, probably not directly, @Rashala. Were we not told that Decimus killed his father? This might be the original attack that put Acantha's mother in the hospital, giving Decimus the opportunity to overdose her with her pain medication. Or not -- just have to wait & see.
In that case, just to be contrarian, I'm going to hypothesize that the cyberpath is actually a mercenary-for-hire henchman brought in by the actual major antagonist (who might not even appear in the flashback). Said merc, by virtue of competency and circumstance, manages to do much more damage than the major antagonist actually expected. ^_^
I agree with that assessment, Gil, but I think the damages incurred were intended in some fashion or other. But I do think the cyberpath is a detail in a bigger scenario. I'm not the Storyteller, could be wrong.
Rose indicated that her eyes would give her away. Still she doesn't have any of the other telltales that most of the Cassians do. Maybe because she was a bodyguard she was designed to better blend in?
Maybe she survives, but changed her name and demeanor after encountering the cyberpath? I guess we will have to wait and see.
Indeed she doesn't stand out *nearly* as much as the other Cassians.
I guess our perception on this might be a bit distorted, since in CGI everyone looks more or less artificial; while in life, her artificial skin and hair etc. would be more obvious... Still, I think from a little distance -- like 10, or perhaps 15 meters -- she could easily be mistaken for human...
Is Noctis... smiling there in that first panel? ;v;* *heart swells*
I wonder if Noctis was any different before this event, and if afterwards, she changed a little.
Yikes! This is gonna be really, really bad. For Noctis to hate cyberpaths so vehemently, and for Nox to want to die, I don't think Columbina and Mariposa are just gonna get killed. I think Noctis and Nox are going be forced to fight them to the death.
Noctis, don't make Ada leak fluid from her eye openings. She needs to be able to see where she's going. Even with pilot upgrades, reentry is not something you want to attempt while blurry-eyed and distracted.
Just then, a belt and a pink sock float up from behind the seats. Later, they're draped over Ada's shoulder, where they came to rest, when she slowed their descent.
When they meet the others at New Troy hospital, Lynn says, "Hey! Those are mine. I haven't seen them since - " *blushes brightly*
It does look like Noctis is one of the four. She has firsthand experience if so. This doesn't bode well. :(
Re: alt text, absolutely no question!
Probably Mariposa too - but Columbina's smile and "sweet" disposition have me 100% sure she's going to die.
Or rather, is that the same model and customization settings as that for Tokyo Rose's agent?
And do I see a hint of a smile on Noctis' lips? =O

Apparently the creative team transubstantiates dread and whine into hit points and mana. Is this some dark version of the Mass Effect?
It's kinda like trading up your 79 Chevy Vega for an 83 Chevy Malibu (with more miles)... you can, but WHY????

Awww, Columbina looks beautiful - so sad she talks about her in the past...
...and floating hair? Great detail. I hope kyle did not leave anything lying about... that would float around also...

Or maybe he had heard Noctis' observations about Imperial shadows, interpreted them too literally, and asked the Cassians to dress the part?
Only the best Cassians are afforded the privilege of guarding the Prince and wearing black, because only the good dye young?

Calliope: "Since when, exactly...?"
