Glad to hear it. Most if not all of the Cassians are, or will soon be happier, it seems. Katya is the only one who wasn't happy about ol' Dezmis, and she has forgotten about it already! :D
I don't think there's anyone who could stop him from being talkative.
Considering his rank and ability, he would be quite confident in himself.
And yeah, Katya is probably weirded out by things like Robots and Androids with no smell ... but who knows, maybe they make odd whirring noises when happy?
"Scaries" -- what an apropos name for the Cassians, given the way Deck used them. I hope that Acantha gives them a chance to earn some other epithet.
I see that Hrist has been rearmed. And, yes, is smiling. Something Noctis still hasn't gotten the hang of.
An innocent (who is also a security risk) is being removed from the place where she has been a victim and well on her way to being someone else's concern where the someone else could actually care about her and treat her fairly. What's not to smile about?
Yeah, I think Hrist probably likes the experience of being on a peaceful mission, quite possibly for the first time in her life...
Though at the peril of sinking in a storm of @Tokyo Rose's missiles, I'm wondering whether she might be enjoying the company of a certain hunky intelligence specialist too ;-)
Um... Touchy subject given her mental development, but ... probably? She's in a healthy female body in good working order, has enough sex hormones to produce boobs, and probably has all of those normal instincts.
But aside from issues of meaningful consent due to mental development, meaningful consent due to slavery, etc, she's got about fifty kinds of NOPE written all over her from the perspective of anybody who's not a child molester.
It's a tough problem to deal with - even those who are not mentally adult, have real sexual impulses when they are adults and sexual perceptions/behavior, which tend to freak the rest of us out because of all the NOPE.
Hrist shows the plastic-y seams at her face and joints, so I don't think that's biological skin. And if it's not, then she probably didn't get other biological bits (or the desire to use them) either. To be honest, I hadn't even considered that you might be talking about her because she's in a different category.
None of the Cassians have "the upgrade" as far as I can recall. That isn't their function. Some of them have some surface detail, though, if I'm remembering right.
Ah yes, you're right! Maybe some others had also; it's unclear.*
*It's not really discussed, except where it's relevant to the story, as in your example. For the most part, I don't think it is really emphasized, mostly having no bearing on the story, except where it's pertinant.
Yeah, it does seem like a bit of overkill.
On the other hand, it may be that Maxus felt that he needed someone to keep an eye on Hrist, until he's sure she's not still in "kill Maxus" mode.
Seeing it from that view, it makes sense to send Hrist out of town, away from her original target.
And what a perfect mission for it, almost like it was tailor made for something like that.
Possibly antrik. Also possible that Logrin's isn't their final destination. Could Maxus be sending them to Noctis to ensure Acantha's continued health?
There was an indication that more support would be heading to New Troy as soon as Maxus could arrange it. This might be Maxus killing two birds with one stone (again). :-)
As for Hrist and her trustworthiness, Sheela, I think Maxus is already sure of that. He entrusted Hrist with Irene's life after all. I think rather this is more Maxus' way of letting Hrist know that he isn't holding the past against her.
Quintus might be along because of all the mistrust of machines in Nova Roma. He can be the human element of mission. Plus Maxus trusts him which is critical for a mission like this.
And yeah, I agree about Hrist. Maxus knows she was compelled to follow orders, and once she was incapacitated, and released from those orders, she was relieved and concerned about her own fate. Maxus was merciful, and she won't forget that.
Course the cassian is smiling she ain't gotta work for douchimus anymore I'm surprised the entire corp is not out having one hell of a party about it!.......after burial for their fallen of course.......and erecting a giant statue of Kali labeled empire savior!
Cassians may be waiting on that Rash. One Noctis isn't around (not that she parties) and two, Acantha isn't available either. Since I kinda expect the Cassians to show their loyalty first, party second I think they will hold off on the celebration.
Noctis will arrange it in her honor, velvet. Noctis might not be the life of the party, but she will ensure EVERYONE remembers those that have fallen. As well as getting whatever emotional release the survivors need.
Er ... excuse me? I'm sure I couldn't say why (judicial restraining order), but I now have all these torpedoes on my lawn circling about truculently and apparently looking to blow up at someone. Also, they keep muttering things like "'NiceBigMan' refers to his height!", "Katya is not in any 'Ranger Danger'", and "Do not refer to it as 'Bare Friend'!"
Any chance we could slide those torpedoes smoothly back into their tubes ... repeatedly .. just sort of in ... then out ... then back in again ... excuse me, they're looking at me now and I have to go do ... something. ^_^
LOL... I can't decide whether to call this "disturbingly brilliant", or "brilliantly disturbing"... But there is definitely some "disturbing" and some "brilliant" in it ;-)
Chances are, if it's a modular system, replacements are off-the-shelf, and parts don't need to be manufactured. Turnaround times would be pretty quick.
I wonder if the reason two high level people are attending to this mission is because it will be seen as a show of good faith towards their (hopefully) new friends in New Troy. After all, it was Dolly who requested it and she has friends in the highest of places.
I suppose you could say that. Dolly had promised Dusty that she would try to find and rescue Katya. She became incapacitated in her skirmish with Kali, and was no longer able to complete her promise. Dolly's word is her bond, so she communicated her intentions to Maxus, who is also a man of his word. I assume Maxus assigned high level people to ensure that it gets carried out.
Luckily, Katya has Bearfriend with her, so she aint scared!
Bearfriend *SO* brave! :)
Panel 4, nice view of the wastes. It's a big adventure!
Given how much cats rely on their sense of smell, it must be weird for her not to be able to smell a person's emotion.
Considering his rank and ability, he would be quite confident in himself.
And yeah, Katya is probably weirded out by things like Robots and Androids with no smell ... but who knows, maybe they make odd whirring noises when happy?

(That's obviously assuming she got "the upgrade" -- which we actually don't know yet, as far as I'm aware...)

Yet I do miss her. I feel we could have been good friends. In a sick way.
I really like how Katya names things...
...and yeah, it is great she has BearFriend =) I like him/her, too...
YelloScary for the Cassian - ...and a happy one at that...
Darn those creatrixes of the comic!
Shoot 'em, shoot 'em I say!
.. with missiles.

I wonder if Bearfriend could wander and return, like the garden gnome? :-D
