If they're nestled between gangs, they must also have to be careful when they go out and about. Feelie is in a bit of a pickle. A few of these models break under stress? Yeah, a pickle all right. Certainly not a combat model. :D
Here's hoping Ivy and Jordan have some idea what hit the gutters, and Feelie!
I would think even a "Fragile" android (gynoid?)body in that day and age would be far superior to an unenhanced human body. Personally, I cannot remember the last time my back didn't hurt.
Not knowing when your back didn't hurt doesn't say much. You could have a bad memory and pulled a muscle earlier in the day, or an excellent memory and survived a near fatal accident when you were two which caused a permanent spinal injury. My guess is somewhere in between.
If you have long term back pain and haven't had it checked by a medical professional, I recommend you do that. My back started hurting more frequently than normal about 16 months ago. About 10 months ago, the pain became nigh constant. After two months of physical therapy, I actually had an MRI performed, and it turned out that I'd ruptured one disk, and had made significant progress towards rupturing another. While it's possible for one to recover from that with just physical therapy, one frequently needs a bit more invasive than that.
Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, I'm a patient. Just sayin, so you know.
Yeah, most android or gynoid bodies would stand up well to most squishy humans, but the Cassians are security peeps, so they have to be more than that. No telling what they might be up against. It's not always humans. Cyborgs, transhumans, robots, other androids, and even heavily armored squishy humans come to mind to name a few.
Ophelia is gathering what information she can, but her friends are being coy. That can't help her sense of well being very much. She doesn't even know what her body can or cannot do, so she has no way of knowing her own capabilities. For a Cassian, that has to be somewhat unnerving. I can't help but feel a little bad for her right now.
I do wonder what they were doing at the Gutter Base. Because now they're in between three gangs not four, and how did they know to go there within a presumably short time of the afteraction?
Actually, it's probably one of the few things she won't have to worry about, as you would strengthen the spine when building the body - Otherwise it would have too many repair costs associated with the boobies, and that's bad for business.
No, do keep on asking questions you don't want answered, 'Feely...
Ophelia: So, does that mean I have the fun palace, as standard.
Ivy: You got the deluxe model fitted, girl!
Ophelia: Great... So, say I encountered a gang of randy gutters...?
Ivy: You'd be fucked. In both senses of the term.
Ophelia: Malati... departed sister... if only you were alive and in my place, here... I'm sure you'd manage this better...
Wibbly wobbly dissolve effect to AU where Malati is still alive, and in Ophelia's place this time:
Malati: Is this an official Commander Tee'anay fuck droid from the Galactic Frontiers franchise?? Wow... I know seven of the gladiators are definite closet fans, and I have my suspicions about several more, including Linus Maximus... *sigh* ...and Rufus Gloriosus! :-3 I have GOT to try this out while they're rebuilding my old body... ...d'you think you could make a few mods to this "Ero Waifu" sim...? ;-3
Jordan: What's in it for-?
Malati: Hey, old saying here: it is a wise and well-rewarded guy who does not stand between Malati and her chosen gladiators!
Jordan: ...Okay.
Ivy: Can't argue with old sayings, right? :-)
>:=)> I don't know how long Malati has actually been around, but it's possible that that is a pretty old saying, even if Malati would be the only one saying it. >;=)>
Probably some of the interesting varieties listed by Ceci back at the Roman outpost?... ;-) ("She knows WHAT?", presently at http://datachasers.thecomicseries.com/comics/1054/ )
Here is another warning that inspiration strikes me occasionally, and when it does the only safe thing to do is stop reading. Immediately. You have been warned.
You may imagine this as sung by Jordan and Ivy to the tune of Simon & Garfunkel's "Cecilia". Hope it entertains and/or amuses.
Ophelia, we took you apart.
You tested our competence greatly.
Now Ophelia, the check from your peers
As soon as it clears, you go home
To New Rome.
Found a motorized platoon
With Ophelia
Smoking on a dune
So we took her from that place
Put her in a new bod
Now she's got a new face.

Well, at a guess, Ivy is the one with glasses who does programming. (I'm guessing the glasses provide some augmented reality interface.) Which means Jordan, who does hardware, also has the hair -- making her the guitar player. ^_^
Interesting, that. It's not hard to imagine Ivy and Jordan keeping a certain fidelity to the original instrumentation. My question is more one of their treatment of the iconic vocals. It's harder for me to imagine; I have no idea what they sound like. Since the original song is somewhat whimsical, it would be interesting to hear their vocal rendition! :D
Finally got around to processing the Patreon data. ("Thank you, hindbrain.") Apparently the one with glasses is actually Jordan, which makes the guitarist Ivy. My mistake.
But true nonetheless.
Due to the way 3D modeling work, clothes are often not separate entities from the body, and you end up with the "body paint" effect.
That said, the way to solve it is to keep the clothes as a separate entity, but that means you have to have nude models, and nude models have legal repercussions.
Thus, many create models with fixed underwear. Of course, that means that showing cleavage scenes requires a different texture....
For some people the rendering process is too long with the clothes as a separate entity.
Some of the major issue with clothes as a seperate entity, is to make them interact with other 3D models, in particular, the body that they cover, in a correct way.
You often end up with clothes clipping into and out of bodies, or floating away from it, or just acting weird in general.
Here's hoping Ivy and Jordan have some idea what hit the gutters, and Feelie!
Best get her back and collect girls!
By the way, I like pickles!

Yeah, I think Malati would have some fun with it, she doesn't have to take good care of it, after all.
May the 4th be with you.

The Problem with all 3D Modeling...

Cloth is complicated stuff !
...and that was our combat bot before/while his brain got squashed...
@alt text: true... =P
Feelie might be a bit peeved if that turns out to be the case.
