Yay TeeDee! Us useless bags of meat have missed your snarky on point commentary on pinky the brain! (Not sure why I'm just making that connection ... every night they try to take over the world).

Things are looking up for TeeDee, it seems. Maybe she'll be a little less 'testy' now . . . Nah! :D

Dr. Silver had to intervene, eh? Job security!

I like the imagining of the reloading process. :) Great page; five stars!

Thank you!

You're Welcome! (But I should thank you!)
HiFranc 9th Oct 2018, 10:51 PM edit delete reply

That looks like a Model 3 to me.

So then TeeDee is the next android to encounter the mysterious "Golden Gort", and she gets to wind up in a "Commander Pauline" all of her own. ^_^ Farewell, Valkyrie, we hardly knew ye.
DLKmusic 10th Oct 2018, 8:58 AM edit delete reply

LOL Gil, that's too mean even for Kharma!

I think she finally has a combat chassis with all the trimmings.
Marcus Ramesy 10th Oct 2018, 8:47 AM edit delete reply

Contrary to what people may think, the sprint package that she was in had a LOT of combat mods on board.. it was a combat chaise.. the main thing is that TeeDee is very anti any thing not metal... and will view any thing less than a full combat mech less than adequate.... Returning back to her original frame type is a personal/psychological preference more so than a upgrade/down grade both chassis have the same combat efficiency
Morituri 10th Oct 2018, 9:55 AM edit delete reply
For her psychological comfort, it's necessary to not be mistaken for biological. I get that.

For ease of using all the stuff that's designed for humans and humaniform robots (I like the word better than "android," for being non-gendered) it's necessary to be shaped like people, I get that.

But if it were a purely combat chassis, it's pretty much nonsense for it to have identifiable secondary sexual characteristics. In particular: why boobs? I'd expect it to look a lot more like 'golden Gort.'

Of course the boobs could be weaponized in some way; they might be plastic explosives flingable as grenades or capable of being packed with detonators around the locks or hinges of reluctant armored doors. They could be performance mods like extra battery packs. But both of those, IMO, would be better protected inside the crunchy armor shell.

So I can't help but conclude that this chassis is supposed to have a gender identity, above and beyond its utilitarian and combat functionality. And that means interactions with others who are more comfortable interacting with someone who displays a gender. Whether she intends to have social interactions based specifically on gender/sexuality or not, this is at least as much a chassis for social interaction as it is for combat.
Morituri 10th Oct 2018, 10:08 AM edit delete reply
Of course similar considerations apply to the flexible face and the hair. Those aren't exclusively part of a gender identity (I'd expect those, or slightly different versions of them, on a "male" chassis as well) but they are strictly additions for the sake of social interaction, and not a necessary part of a purely combat-oriented chassis.

She only pretends to be anti-social. 'Golden Gort,' now that's REAL anti-social.

By the way, she has AWESOME beautiful lips.

And I would absolutely never tell her so, at least not unless asked. And I doubt she'd ever ask.

I happen to like faces with awesome beautiful lips. On reflection, that might be why many of the women I found attractive and dated in college were black. Which is a whole 'nother issue of self-examination on the 'exactly how much of a racist am I, and do I fetishize women based on race?' question, for me. Of course beautiful faces with full lips featured prominently on the faces of most of the women I dated within my own ethnicity too.

Was her old body as effectively protected as one wil all the mods? Iirc, the old body had combat mods in it, but the point was to not make it obvious. That constraint limits what you can do. For instance, it may limit the kinds of armor and the amount of armor you can wrap the body in. Also, iirc, the previous body was smaller then the first one that she had when they first responded to thevdistress call where they were shot down. In some cases, for modding anyway, size does matter as it provides for space for more or more powerfully of any kind.

And I agree, her mentality is definitely steel oriented.

There is a downside to this preference though. Given a choice of who is more generous, most people would take down the steel looking one first instead of the squishy looking one.

The takeaway I get from what Marcus Ramesy said was the frames are essentially equivalent. TeeDee strikes me as wanting to be as tough as she can possibly be. It's her thing. From there, I'm led to believe that even the cosmetic difference is important to her: she doesn't want to come off as cute, she wants respect for being tough. I can see where she'd prefer the Valkyrie model. Aside from a simple cosmetic appeal (to her), and even considering the frames to be roughly equivalent, the Valkyrie 'skin' seems like it would be more durable than that of the Sprite. That little bit of extra toughness still means something to TeeDee; it means better.

I can say with 100% certainty... her choice is body/mods has nothing to do with respect... rember she is not fond of humans.. she works with them and has a few she respects and even likes.. and will do what she can to save them.. but she views humans as weak and they had their time...... as for cute.... there are only 3 people that could ever get away with calling her cute... any one else would risk... life.. limb and probably end up eating through a straw for a few weeks while they recover...

as for her choice in body/gender... its not outside of the parameters of identifying as female but having no interests or desires for anything girl or girly... gender norms may still be a thing... but not every one.. or creature subscribes to them... Im of the mind sent that TeeDee self identifys as "the biggest gun you can get your hands on" but thats a diferent story...

ultimately .. you are correct in the fact that TeeDee has a gender Identity.. and it is for all intents and purposes both combat and "soscial"

So, we have had some pretty long discussions on this during the TeeDee body-issues story arc.

This cropped up in the Commander Pauline body story as well, where the following was said :

I reckon that since androids are molded after the human mind, they will have both a sexual orientation, and a gender as well. Other things such as size and skin color may be part of it too.

And I suspect that if an android gets reloaded into a body that is too different from the androids dispositions, it may end up with body dysmorphia, which can end up with all sorts of mental disorders. Or reload-trauma, which is kinda what happened to TeeDee.

I would however, imagine that some things would be more common for androids, than humans. Such as, for example, being asexual and androgynous, is fairly uncommon for humans, but since androids don't have sexual genitalia from the beginning, it may be way more common.

As for Hermaphrodite, that would be a very unusual thing to happen, as a Hermaphrodite Human starts with a physical condition, due to a chromosome disorder - And since Android are created, I suspect that chromosome disorders would be extremely rare, and since it's really only their brain and some supporting biological parts that support their brain that even has chromosomes, I doubt they even have chromosomes for genitalia - So they wouldn't even be able to have disorders of sexual development.

Really, the only "sexual parts" they have, would be in their mind.
Y'know, such as their orientation.

So, basically the sexual characteristic in an android is primarily mental, but it can create body-dysmorphia if the body they get is too far from their mental "body image".

So the boobies are there for mental stability.

Though you could probably add additional stuff into them, as long as they conform to the thematic base of the body part, without creating additional issues.

For example, TeeDee complained about her tiny tits were cold, meaning her sprite body probably had more temperature sensors, than her old body.
But it would fit what a human breast could do!
It might also have more inertia sensors, gravity sensors, acceleration sensors .. and so on, which would still conform to additional usability without creating any more body-dysmorphia.

So while it may seem odd at first, there could be real in-comic-world reasons why it could be useful at have the additional tissue.
Gilrandir 12th Oct 2018, 6:12 AM edit delete reply
Although I like the notion of 'boobies' as 'stabilizers', @Sheela, I doubt most Aerodynamicists would agree. ^_^
megados 11th Oct 2018, 8:32 PM edit delete reply

@Guest, I don't think her dislike of meatbags, and having respect, are mutually exclusive. I would tend to think she would tolerate no disrespect from those she doesn't like. Either way, I was not trying to say that her body choice has anything to do with what the humans think, or what she thinks of them, but rather, it has everything to do with her self image, and her comfort level and perception of her efficiency, and capability.

To the discussion: Per the Tech page, the androids start out as 'seed' (a collection of traits designed to generate a collection of random personality types).

It is also mentioned that, "On the subject of gender and physical design, most of the android patterns are based on templates that are hundreds of years old. Theories abound as to why so many are, more properly, gynoids. Common wisdom suggests that most of the original designers were male, or that most humans found female designs to be generally less intimidating."

On the one hand, it seems to suggest that gender association by personality trait would be nurtured during their time with the Model Zero body, and that it might be emphasized, since the demographic shifts toward gynoid. Among that segment of the demographic, we have seen examples suggesting a range consisting of individuals exhibiting enhanced sexuality to individuals exhibiting almost none. It seems to be as varied as other personality traits might be. On the other hand, it suggests that some of the decision is a forgone conclusion owing to the body production skew.

There are upgrades, mods, that can supply androids or gynoids with equivalent sexual components, and with the exception of reproduction, it has been stated that they have elaborate sensory augmentations, such that the android or gynoids can get a fairly comparable experience. It has also been stated, that some in the story do have the 'fun park'. What I get from all this, is that a lot of how much (or how little) they embrace sexuality is an individual choice, made by the persons themselves.

Nice to see Tee Dee again.
Rashala 10th Oct 2018, 11:38 PM edit delete reply

Non organic looking body and complaining inside of three nanos of waking. Yep that is feeder and she's 100% back to normal and a brunette now. Sorta?
mjkj 10th Oct 2018, 11:48 PM edit delete reply

Awwww... poor TeeDee =P

...I hope she likes her new body...
Sheela 13th Oct 2018, 12:22 AM edit delete reply

She should, she specced it after all.
DLKmusic 11th Oct 2018, 1:44 PM edit delete reply

I'm still waiting for Doc Silver to say "It's ALIVE!!!!" and for Teedee to say "Ugh... Fire BAD!!!"

(PS... I liked the Sprite chassis, I may be a voice of one, but I was hoping Teedee would keep it, especially after seeing Noctis in action!")
Centcomm 13th Oct 2018, 2:52 PM edit delete reply

I think Teedee outvoted you :D
Sheela 14th Oct 2018, 2:58 PM edit delete reply

I guess she could keep it as a backup body, in case she gets destroyed again.

It's not a bad body, after all, it's just not her style.
DLKmusic 15th Oct 2018, 2:48 PM edit delete reply

A perfectly good Frankenstein reference... completely wasted... Harrrrumph!
megados 15th Oct 2018, 8:34 PM edit delete reply

I wouldn't consider it wasted . . . more like quietly enjoyed. ;)
Romfire 12th Oct 2018, 7:38 AM edit delete reply
Is this body even an upgrade? It looks the same as the one in

Or are the upgrades internal?
After everything she has been through, I would think she would have gotten the Best of the Best. Though going back to the same specs would be more comfortable.
Centcomm 13th Oct 2018, 2:51 PM edit delete reply

externally it looks the same. internally its more advanced.
Rashala 13th Oct 2018, 11:57 PM edit delete reply

Ya know ibet there is something ada could say that would have Teedee awake instantly arming any onboard weapons and scanning for a target and shouting Die meatbag!!!!!!!!!

What's that you ask? Prolly this sentence.

" Hey Teedee there's someone named Rashala here to see you."
Hana 14th Oct 2018, 3:11 PM edit delete reply
When's the last time we've seen TeeDee?
megados 14th Oct 2018, 5:31 PM edit delete reply

I think it was on or about here.
