My Blood Sugar is at 302( the same CCs as my Mercury's engine) @ 10:45PM in Texas so I think I need a shot really quick like, don't ya think? I only had one Spiced Rum (Admiral Nelson) & Coke Zero Vanilla, but I think my Supper is what did it(Gen Tso Chicken,Won Ton Soup,Steamed Rice).
Haegan2005 24th Nov 2018, 3:13 PM edit delete reply

Sounds like the rice and the spiced rum did it.
megados 20th Nov 2018, 9:38 PM edit delete reply

We call those cars, mentioned in the Alt text, "boom-boom" cars XD

During the first few panels, I wondered "Where is Acantha?", thinking something was wrong. I was relieved to see her hidden behind Noctis.

If there was ever any question about Noctis' feelings, her reaction to Athena's remark leaves little doubt.
Centcomm 21st Nov 2018, 8:37 PM edit delete reply

she hides them well!
megados 22nd Nov 2018, 9:13 AM edit delete reply

She does. I like how they 'leak out' once in a while. :)

In the last Comic there was a comment about DCs place in the voting list for top web. This discussion recently happened in another comic which a user complained about similar voting issues.

The current leader of the voting is a good comic that receives something on the order of 250 comments per post. It twigs a bunch of boxes and has a rabid fan base. It also teases the voting centers changes it fairly often and has all of that information prominently on the page.
Just_IDD 21st Nov 2018, 4:08 AM edit delete reply
Didn't mean to post that yet.

I do not mean to imply that the ladies here should make those changes.

Additionally the other Comics that are on the list don't do a lot of those things or make stylistic changes to the vote buttons in line with their theme (not the issue here).

Instead I would point out that we are number 9 on the list without doing all of those changes. I don't read some of the top 10 or 20 TWC comics but frankly I've not been too disappointed with any comic that I found in the top 50. Many Comics start out pretty low but the better ones quickly rise in the standings.

I would say that anyone who has a concern about it reach out directly to TWC directly and privately as opposed to through some public forum.

There are amazing webcomics buried in rankings over 300. I like that this comic is in the top ten, but there are definitely some comics I love that are far lower than they deserve for their quality of art and writing, and some that are in my opinion higher than they deserve to be (especially earlier in the month when rankings are less stable and I'm talking Top 100 more so than Top 10).

No point in contacting TWC since it's likely just a question of marketing, reader engagement, comic and TWC vote image update and reminders, and keeping that vote button somewhere prominent. Either a comic's readers are voting or not.

TWC rankings aren't an absolute measurement of quality, but it does provide an organized way to discover and help promote webcomics.
Oldarmourer 23rd Nov 2018, 3:50 AM edit delete reply
TWC is only a measure of comics listed on TWC and doesn't and can't cover all of them, some of my other favourites are past the 1000 mark but I have noticed that the ones who update their 'incentives' usually get a sudden flurry of votes when they do. I don't know if their algorithm takes that into account or not but it couldn't hurt...hint, hint ;)

The best way I found to deal wit h boom boom cars is put on bag pipes and crank the volume and treble!
Oldarmourer 21st Nov 2018, 7:16 AM edit delete reply
Been known to do that from time to time ;)

Stood around in a circle smacking a drum head just like this more times than I could possibly remember too...these guys might be imposters though...I've never, ever seen a drummer turn down a free beer...even a bass thumper ;)
Oldarmourer 21st Nov 2018, 7:01 AM edit delete reply
I can get my sugars down pretty low fasting what are they eating dark chocolate and sucking back a Dr Pepper ? because I might have to tailor my activities but I will not surrender completely...alright, diet pop maybe... ;)
Centcomm 21st Nov 2018, 8:57 AM edit delete reply

i love Dr pepper... my dinner sugars is 270 yesterday "D
Oldarmourer 21st Nov 2018, 10:10 AM edit delete reply
My favourite as well even if I have to settle for 'diet' now...I find that the 'store brand' "Dr Smooth" is actually very drinkable, perhaps even more so than the real thing...and cheaper too :) still, black rum and the Dr go together so well I'm almost sorry I quit drinking...
Oldarmourer 21st Nov 2018, 10:14 AM edit delete reply
If I'm a very, very good boy I can keep them down to around 8.5 (160ish in US numbers)

Unfortunately I'm not that good of a boy so they're sometimes between 11 and 14 (200-250ish) still better than three or four hundred but my Dr doesn't buy that....
Centcomm 22nd Nov 2018, 1:49 PM edit delete reply

the problem is that 99.99 of the zero sugar drinks have a metal aftertaste that makes me not want to drink it.
Oldarmourer 22nd Nov 2018, 3:32 PM edit delete reply
I found that too but after a lot of experimentation discovered a few brands that are actually pretty good...comparitively.

coke 'zero' beats the heck out of diet coke
Pepsi 'max' is better than diet pepsi
one store brand diet cola beats them both at half the price
and the Dr Pepper ripoff is the best by far
maybe they should call it 'Specialist Pepper' ?

If it helps, Cent, I had to give up sugar drinks (and Alchohol) because of bladder issues. I switched to the Arizona Iced Teas both the black and the green tea are made with honey rather than sugar so the body processes it more efficiently.

My Blood sugar count is around 100-110 range, btw, but I am on blood pressure medicine.

Funds are on the way, Centcomm. :)

So Acantha is well enough to go sightseeing? Cool! I'm a bit surprised that Noctis is allowed to escort two prominent NT figures alone, but I find it reassuring that she seems to be trusted.
oldastronomer 21st Nov 2018, 1:34 PM edit delete reply
Athena (Lynn's Grandmother) is there, so hijinks will be minimised, I reckon. Athena's a really senior figure in New Troy - Ambassador to Luna and all. But I bet that NTPD is on *really* high alert, but not obtrusively. Best wishes to all in this season.
Speedy Marsh 21st Nov 2018, 11:21 PM edit delete reply
I'd say you're right. I'm guessing there's an Angel in a hidden compartment in their vehicle. Also, half the cars in sight are probably empty, to be used as sacrificial barriers or battering rams against any potential assailants. The rest are probably occupied by NTPD, Black or White Angels, or people with the highest level security clearances.

All other traffic has probably been automatically routed at least three blocks away from the VIP vehicle. The only people who would be informed of the detour would be the few manual drivers that needed to be ordered to take an alternate route. The automated system probably varies routes so often, that few other travelers would even notice.
Centcomm 22nd Nov 2018, 1:49 PM edit delete reply

and yep she is well enough to do most things at the moment.
Oldarmourer 22nd Nov 2018, 3:34 PM edit delete reply
I'd be very surprised if Cent hasn't been sparing a few clock cycles on direct supervision in that car...and out of it...I'd expect every vehicle within sight of them is under her immediate guidance as well.

Wow, nice out for a stroll =)
lalverson 21st Nov 2018, 6:19 PM edit delete reply
I haz a hapi that noctis is showing a slight sliver of emotion. Granted, it's a slightly sad one, but still. Yeah it could logically be explained as pragmatism in her new role as the most senior casian but I, a fellow storyteller (at times) find these little moments the real gold.

Nice to see the girls again!

This reminds me of any time I've met a newcomer in Pittsburgh, especially those who are used to grid pattern cities like New York. They always inevitably ask, "How the heck do you guys get around?? Everything just seems to be plopped any old place. Where's the grid??"
Oldarmourer 22nd Nov 2018, 3:36 PM edit delete reply
treat them to a 5-way stop...or a 6-way :)
Morituri 22nd Nov 2018, 6:43 PM edit delete reply
Aspen Colorado is the ultimate 'grid city.' Seriously, the street map is a straight grid of parallel lines.

Boston is the antithesis of that principle. All the streets are laid out on 16th century cow paths, so to get anywhere you have to think like a 16th-century cow. Only faster and with more distractions.
Oldarmourer 24th Nov 2018, 12:53 PM edit delete reply
Edmonton, which seems to be where New Sparta arose from, is a very well laid out grid as well...except for one area around the river and another south of 107th Ave that can drive you #$%^&!!! insane...not having really been built up until the start of the 20th century probably this town, which started in the early 1700's, I'm pretty sure it mostly follows old animal paths and the town planner of the day drank..a lot. 5 and 6 way stops, turns that shouldn't exist but do, streets that meet just slightly offset and we found out this summer that if you shut one particular intersection down for major work, you have to go all the way to the other side of town to get from one side of that to the other since all the streets in between dead-end. o.O
Morituri 24th Nov 2018, 10:47 PM edit delete reply
In Oakland CA, there is a shining example for the ages. Hegenberger Road is the most direct route from the highway to the airport. And also several of the least direct routes! If you are watching closely you will notice that it crosses itself six times.

What is with you people and your high blood sugar? Isn't anyone on medication?
el848484 22nd Nov 2018, 10:15 AM edit delete reply
Medication helps, but you really have to stop eating carbs. That's where I fall down. It feels like a particularly brutal punishment.
Centcomm 22nd Nov 2018, 1:46 PM edit delete reply

Its a age thing and all the meds im on for my heart. yay!
Oldarmourer 22nd Nov 2018, 3:28 PM edit delete reply
That's with meds...mind you I should have them adjusted but meds don't make up for genetics, the side effects from other things or a not so subtle craving for certain brown bubble water or the odd bit of chocolate which is actually supposed to be beneficial for your blood pressure..and the safety of those near you. Starting onto my seventh decade on this planet, I'd rather enjoy myself for eight than go miserably into the tenth...besides, they're not that high all the time and even then it's not THAT high.
Rashala 24th Nov 2018, 12:49 AM edit delete reply

So wait a sec. If c3 centcomms hub is at cords 0 ,0,0 and the rest of new troy is arranged around the city laid out like a massive partially open topped cube like a Borg ship?
oldastronomer 24th Nov 2018, 8:23 AM edit delete reply
Rashala, Hmmm.. have a look back at some of the archive pics (don't recall the nos offhand, there are so many!!) - New Troy has "lobes" around 3C, but there's no reason why these should not have grid co-ords "overlaid" on them for planning, mapping and reference's sake. Its just a partly sparse grid is all.
If you want real higgelty-pigglety, try York Shambles (UK) or other unredeveloped, unbombed, medieval UK town!
gmg2dave 24th Nov 2018, 10:57 PM edit delete reply

while I will be the first one to admit that Noctis is Death walking against just about anyone she can get too, but I would really, really, hate to be a protective detail that had no control over the vehicle with that many VIP's in it.

Just the thought of having to rely on whatever automated evasion programs are built into that vehicle, would be enough to give me the cold sweats. Way too many things that can go wrong here, and we have seen a lot of hand-held weaponry that could make a real mess of even an armored car, especially one that is flying straight and level.

Surprised Noctis isn't having a nice quite little nervous breakdown thinking of everything that could go wrong in this situation.
megados 25th Nov 2018, 7:20 AM edit delete reply

Minor nitpick: The first panels might have been an opportunity to have employed some of that vaunted motion-blur effect! :D
Centcomm 26th Nov 2018, 2:40 PM edit delete reply

it would have been but i forgot - its actually difficult sense my tablet went belly up.
megados 27th Nov 2018, 6:02 AM edit delete reply

I know all about forgetting; I do it often and I do it well XD

I didn't know that you use a tablet in your process. Is the problem in the cable? A lot of tablet problems happen where the cable goes into it. I have fixed that particular problem a couple of times.
Centcomm 27th Nov 2018, 5:53 PM edit delete reply

i fixed the cable a few times - but now it just doesnt want to work with windows 10 at all. i have not been able to get this blood thing to fire up with my comp - mind you the table was 10 years old.
megados 27th Nov 2018, 6:10 PM edit delete reply

Is Windows 10 not finding/loading the driver? Driver not compatible with 10?
