yes, she's broken. and evidently too smalL for whatever biological needs they have...the "be good" is very ducking creepy.
unless they put her into some sort of healing pod, she isn't going to make it. They are stripping the base and taking her parents. Unless logrin or another ranger stumble on them or they miss a community check call no one will know something happened.
Yes, it seems more likely they are after biological parts. As for Cyana's ultimate fate, I'm still hoping Skeeter is still going to play a part. He's been disabled according to the creepers. I"m hoping that doesn't mean destroyed and he can download into a functioning mechanical and be of some assistance to poor Cyana. Her parents look like they may be future members of creep squad or at least spare "parts" for the current members. *shudder*
They seem to act like an amalgam of personalities.
Wether they are networked up, or have multiple personalities (Either by being schizophrenic, or having multiple personalities downloaded into one brain), is still up in the air.
I seem to remember the good Doctor Silver talking about personality collapses at some point. Or was that Dolly ? Maybe progressive ego collapse ? I can't really remember.
But it would make for an interesting thought, what do you do with those combat robots that fail in such a manner ?
And how far would they go in order to survive ?
Get your crazy speculations on ! đ
i wood say you might have guessed it Sheela..
IF we go with the "old" military experiment ,, somehow failed..
they would have been networked "so they know what each is doing.." but still have own personality ..
an im guessing here,, then at base they have a control brain,, or a over riding "control program" (orders) .. that downloads (reprograms) each new "recruit",, an when they go on missions.. (( going back to "Jordan an Ivy" on 'zombie' ing a brain with 'Feelie'. .. this is (probably) what happens if the brain is still sentient..!)
an on a side note.. my time in the military,, i knew/know, a 'few' gungho weird kiddies' who "WOULD" have signed up for this.!!
@Deoxy: No.. that was the USA in general.. going back to when the US was formed... Native American's, Ellis island, Filipino's, Japanese,, ETC..
an IF you want to get Official ,, it was Bill Clinton in 1996...
Skeeter is damaged, but cognizant.
The Enterprise is glitched, but whole, and probably has a decent lifting capacity.
Cyana is damaged, but very possibly light enough to ride on top of a toy.
...Driven by Skeeter.
Thank you, Centcomm. I'd hate to have to stop reading the comments section when I enjoy it almost* as much as the comic itself.
So, these are some weird droids/cyborgs you've got going here, Centcomm. I'm definitely interested in seeing what their story is, but I hope it doesn't come at the expense of the poor girl. She's in no condition to help herself if her spine is broken, and unless Skeeter can self repair, I don't see much hope that either of them will survive this encounter. I hope the area is patrolled by some regional authority and they rescue Cyana.
*For an indeterminate value that varies widely between pages. Some comment threads are more interesting or entertaining than others. ;)
It has always been (for as long as I can remember) a basic tenet that political comments were taboo in the comments section. I usually deflect (or try to) comments that have political overtones, which I unsuccessfully tried doing here. It had the unintended consequences of generating more political comments. I would rather not have political discussions or innuendo here either, since they're almost unavoidable everywhere else these days. So, again, my apologies. I screwed up.
I, too, am worried for Cyana. She has some sort of spinal trauma, and hopefully it's not permanent.
Skeeter's condition is completely unknown. He could be anywhere in a range from almost fine, to completely toast.
Also unknown, are Braden and Olina. They were knocked down and shot, but it's not known if they were merely stunned or were killed, still there or taken away.
For my part, megados, I definitely hold no ill will towards you or anyone else who posts in the comments, but I appreciate you posting an apology to everyone. You and Oldarmourer post the most interesting tangentially related (or off-topic) posts, so I wouldn't want to miss them. :)
That being said, I can certainly understand the impulse to respond to politically related posts, and I have done it occasionally myself elsewhere, but mostly it is a futile gesture, particularly in the heavily trafficked and partisan comments of comics like Grrl Power. It's a fun comic, and there are some great posts there from people with knowledge of science, law, engineering, etc, but from time to time I just have to skip reading them because of politics, which is a shame.
To me it sounds like the blue thingy is evaluating it's options:
1. Possible reaction: take her. Rejected because she's "broken" and "too small".
2. Possible reaction: kill her. Reject. She's no threat right now, and she might be useful later ("throw back for later")
3. Possible reaction: "Be good" to her. Whatever that might mean in their rather twisted logic.
If this is what's happening they're probably supposed to be some sort of A.I. rather than a living being.
Less advanced robots in other Sci-Fi stories tend to have monologues like this.
Well, with SKEETER and Cyana both immobile, and the antenna tower shot down, my only question is, does the Enterprise toy have enough battery power to get to Logrin's?
Almost definitely not with Cyana riding it, and almost definitely it doesn't have the capacity for SKEETER to load more than a tiny control program into, but ... if it can carry a cry for help, that would be ... better than dying without being able to call for help.
And IIRC Logrin has access to at least some advanced medical facilities.
No matter how you slice it, this is really, seriously, not a good day to be Cyana.
Oh lovely. She's too young to harvest parts from, but her parents just right.....I see a lot of therapy and anger towards machines in her future, no morals on these things just practicality and cold logic.........yeah the all need to be blown up
Thus begins the origin story of Cyana, avenger of the wastelands. Insert âgrowing-up-and-combat-trainingâ montage here. She can ride a hover-cycle with a rebuilt Skeeter as her sidekick, and wear a helmet made from a certain blue-eyed robotâs head. Who was that masked girl?
If Noctis doesn't know about Cyana then it's not likely to be a problem. That being said, unless these rogues are androids, I really doubt she could do much to them, even if she is a cyberpath; she's severely injured and just a kid who couldn't possibly have enough mastery of the ability to do much harm.
Come to think of it though, I really don't understand how the whole cyberpath ability works, so maybe it's like "The Force" and there are those who are more powerful than the ones we've already seen mentioned. What I do know is that I'm glad it's not a major element of the story though, because I rather prefer the hard sci-fi angle.
I really didn't give a lot of thought as to how cyberpathy works, I more or less took it as a given. My take on it is that a cyberpath can generate some form of electromagnetic emission. I have no idea whether it takes training or practice, but I'd guess yes.
I surmise that this is taking place *somewhere* near New Rome, since Ophelia was patrolling the surrounding wastes. Now, Noctis is the head of investigations, and probably enjoys a bit more latitude, now that she is princeps. If Cyana has this ability, and does not use it, Noctis would probably not find out, but if she were to do so, in proximity to New Rome, it might become known, and I think Noctis would make the effort to obtain more facts. She does, after all, consider cyberpathy to be a grave threat.
I have no clue as to whether or how Cyana's injury would affect that kind of ability.
IF you want a understanding of "Cyberpath."..
i wood say read "Anne McCaffrey"'s 'To Ride Pegasus.' an the follow up books, including tower an hive series...
ok,, now we get to see how TWC mucks with everybody.. today is the last day of the month, an the top 10 have pretty much held the same spot half the month...,. so tomorrow all bets are off on where any will be...
an like a nother comic (will not name.),, vote early.. an vote often... :[
TBH, I don't think it's TWC that does it. Consider that the votes reset at midnight. The first comic to get a vote is automatically in first place, even if it's a comic usually ranked over 500. What happens is, that at first there are few votes, and it only takes a couple of votes to change the rankings, and later on, there is more of a spread, and it takes more votes to change the rankings of the top ones. That's how it seems to me. :D
no... i have been tracking TWC since Jan. and yes, day to day, they may do it that way,, but the first of the month , NO..
i follow over a 100 comics, an vote over 30..
an way back in April, a little known comic got the top spot,, an i looked at the numbers, it had half the votes of number two... (an not the first Vote.)
He seems to have some small compassion, telling her to be good. Hopefully she won't have to do so alone.
Discussing whether to take her or not would indicate that they likely are after biological parts.
unless they put her into some sort of healing pod, she isn't going to make it. They are stripping the base and taking her parents. Unless logrin or another ranger stumble on them or they miss a community check call no one will know something happened.
...at least she survived until now...
@alt text: so true...

I'm still not clear if her parents are going under the "Take" or "kill" category, but I suspect the former, which for me sounds worse right now...

Please no politics, nothing destroys a comic faster than political BS. That sort of excrement belongs on Facebook.
