She didn't, however, miss on the opportunity to name him something tantalizingly close to Dick that has frequently been used as something tantalizingly close to Dick. Also works as a reference to Dick the Daring. Um, I mean Dirk the Daring. Sorry, I'm not sure how I could've possibly made that mistake. ;)
And she would be all huff 'n' puff about it, pointing out all the ridiculous plot holes.
But in the end, she would be hooked - Secretly, she LOVES silly stuff like that! π
Yeah, you got it. She got the body, then found out where it was from, then looked into it and got hooked on the show. Maybe later she will want the body back? ;)
don't play with them so much you aggravate your hands again...
This story arc, or at least I hope it's a full arc, is an unexpected treat but I'd rather wait until you're better than have you injure yourself making it.
I wonder...would tri-D have that sort of effect ? apparently so :)
With TV's working on pixels today, kids will grow up not knowing what a rolling picture looks like or how to play with the 'vertical hold' knob they're not supposed to touch.
Tri-D probably wouldn't have the "raster" effect, no. I used it as a visual trope for the readers, since most people will recognize it as a subtle indicator that this is, well, a TV show within the story, not us suddenly switching the entire comic over to a whole new story or putting up the wrong page or something :)
Poor guy, foreskin worn off right to the shoulders...helluva way to go
The rest of the away team tried to save him, but he fought them off three times...
"Lost In Translation" is the show that's been a running joke through the whole comic so far. I feel it's actually more entertaining to NOT try to make much of a coherent story out of it. I keep a few notes about character names, relationships, and the plot points I've invented, but that's as far as it goes--I just barf up whole strings of terrible soap-opera dialogue and new plot points on the spot, whenever we need it. I try pretty hard to replicate the experience of overhearing a couple people discussing a show or book series that they're clearly familiar with, but you know nothing about. :D
Hi Rose, nice to see ya out and about! Re: Lost in Translation, "--I just barf up whole strings of terrible soap-opera dialogue and new plot points on the spot, . . ."
Pretty much the same thing as the soap writers do. It works!
'Lost in Translation' would lose it's effect if we saw it in detail...
'Galactic frontiers' on the other hand could be a comedic goldmine...and I trust it will be.
It might even get snapped up by a major network and you can retire on the royalties to do nothing but make these comics ;)
and i normally use screen shots from the sims or whatever game i happen to be playing if the screen can be seen, Commander pauline was part of the ophila storyline so i came up with that after she was damaged and i admit its kinda a nod to the orville - another show i love! and a mashup of Star trek , and Next Gen... and enterprise.
The Orville! That's it! I thought this reminds me of something, but I couldn't put my finger on it. (Seth McFarlane does great comedic story in general) Thanks for putting 2+2 together for me! I feel kinda dense now though.
It's nice to get a little insight into how both of you put this all together. :)
PLOT TWIST :
When they tried to steal her brain in the last episode,
they find out that SHE DOESN'T HAVE A BRAIN TO STEAL !!
She actually lost her brain in the *first* episode !!
You now have to re-watch all 32 episodes, to figure out who stole it to begin with !
All in all, a pretty clever plot twist for a soap-opera!
They're all androids on a real starship in a custom built pocket universe, and they don't know that they and their entire universe didn't exist before season 1 episode 1.
Commander Pauline just seems ditsy because there was a power surge when they were uploading her backstory and personality data.
It's supposed to be parody, I know, but so far, it seems like a just-slightly-more-honest-than-usual version of the show it's supposed to be parodying.
Unfortunately, given that in 13+ years, only a few weeks have passed in 'comic time', we won't be seeing our aspiring actress from Helios Tower in even a bit part...pity, she put her heart and soul into her art :(
My poor little overworked imagination is doing backflips and handsprings trying to anticipate what's next :)
Just as well, it needs the exercise, maybe it'll burn enough calories to get rid of the beervirus-belly ;)
Will we see a full episode of the vid show ?
Will it be titled "Paulines Pool Party" ?
Will the cute redheaded Lt. be there ?
Will bathing suits be forbidden because even in the 39th century "lint clogs the pool filters" ?
Will the Brotherhood of Registered AquaFiltertechs Union, Luna Local 34 working on the set enforce that rule mercilessly ?
Will we see a cut to the actors chatting (or squabbling) out of character in between takes and off set ?
Will some other characters from the DC world be seen visiting the set on a tour ?
Will it be Lynn showing Acantha a real tri-D set ?
Will she be kidnapped again ?
Will this episode be a crossover with Luna Star ?
Will the actress playing Galina look like her ?
Will she be at the pool party ?
Will an alien entity take control of Pauline's SLT's and capture the bridge crew, except for Capt. Dirk's console-proof armour ?
Will we pull back at the end shot to Feelie watching the show as she waits for extra armour to be fitted into her spare body ?
Will she start kicking the old Pauline frame while saying "slut!!" ?
Will she have a big grin on her face as she kicks it carefully ?
Will she still keep the subroutines ?
Will it pull back to the Goldiebot commander watching the same episode ?
Will it pull back to Cyana watching it ?
Will we cut to an incoming intergalactic invasion fleet watching it as part of their intelligence gathering ?
Will it show them assuming this is what they'd have to govern after the conquest and turning around in disgust, or confusion ?
Will this post make the slightest bit of sense ?
So many things to ponder, so little to ponder them with...but where there's a will, there's a way :)
I think I can answer the question about the intergalactic invasion fleet.
The have seen the show, and they have decided that we are just way too stupid for this galaxy and our idiocy is somehow infectious, and the rest of the galaxy is at risk. They are on their way to do pest control!
Of course, when they first assembled their fleet first and headed in our direction, it was because the airwave transmissions for the first "Three's Company" sitcom finally reached their space, but it looks like almost everything we've produced since then just confirms their belief that they are doing the right thing.
And I'm talking about the numbers mentioned in Dick's opening lines.
1. The stardate mentioned in the lines would make the current date just before the start of ST:NG if this was the Trek universe(s) So the ship _would_ be brand spanking new.
2. The number of missions they have been on? If a mission takes around an average of a month, then they have been rising around for 654 months or 54.46 years which is close to the time difference between ST:OS and ST:NG. (So yes, this is _original_ crew still flying around...)
3. If we take the number of missions as the current number of 'broadcast' episodes of GF and assume GF is _relased_ weekly with the show following the U.S. standard of 13 episodes per season, then this show has been going on for 50 years (which is close to the time between ST:OS and now) (So yes, this is the _original_ GF show still going on after so many years...Is there spinoffs of GF?)
or some of the missions were fairly short, a day or so...
Most of the crew don't look to be well over 70 even with anti-aging tech ;)
Being what amounts to a TV show, maybe they couldn't afford a continuity director ?
ST? Continuity? (Falls over laughing...gets up, verifies proper reattachment..)
The main (or a) selling point for SW was that it was given fabulous continuity for 30 years... If I had read something when I was a kid, I was pretty sure that it was still valid when I was an adult.
For ST, just one example of going greatly in the opposite direction: "the shuttlecraft fly at the speed of plot...they fly as fast as they needed for each episode's plot".
In SW all media was coordinated: comics, novels, movies, video games, etc. In ST, the TV and book people were _not_ talking to (coordinating with) each other...
For GF? Hum, I wonder how many time travel missions they have been on by now...by now I would conservatively guestimate one in twenty or about thirty changes to the time line.
I'm assuming that the 'month' is an average length _and_ is taking into account travel time to get to the actual mission site. One ST:OS based novel actually had notes in the book on how long the story could be in order to wedge it into existing continuity with a diagram showing when the ship enter and left a specific star system where the novel took place.
...Since I'm just slapping it against the wall to see if it sticks as _I_ can't see the subject of any posting under datachasers.thecomicseries.com. (Do I have a configuration issue somewhere?)
I am guessing the little girl is dreaming while her body is attended to. I am compelled to ask. how Commander Pauline gets her uniform to do that painted on look. Its very... distinctive.
Rose did dang well on the text!
She was *so* close though !
Oops, showing my age there!
Heheh, re: alt text, I have a guess . . . XD Feelie catching up on the series?
*makes popcorn*
And she would be all huff 'n' puff about it, pointing out all the ridiculous plot holes.
But in the end, she would be hooked - Secretly, she LOVES silly stuff like that! π
Sometimes its even a contest!
http://datachasers.thecomicseries.com/comics/1104/
but she didn't recognize the Commander Pauline body when they put her in it...so they probably just went to the gladiator matches together ;)
She knows about it NOW ! You just know she's hooked!
Also, I bet there are official betting on who's got who pregnant, or not !
(blatant and shameless plug)
On a sidenote, that spiky hair doesn't look half bad.
Found some new models to play with ?
This story arc, or at least I hope it's a full arc, is an unexpected treat but I'd rather wait until you're better than have you injure yourself making it.
*looking forward to more...*
So, that mentioned, now dead, lieutenant was a redshirt?
Beautifully made, Cent, thank you, great texting, Rose, thank you, too... β‘

give yourself a pat on the back, or pull your hair if you're into that ;)
The rest of the away team tried to save him, but he fought them off three times...
The only reason I don't think he is played by/as an android is his vagueness about time and numerical stats that would be a
is her 'pool' a water tank shielding the reactor core ? :)

The plasma cannon, was a 115 meter long plasma cannon from a Crian planetoid.
She had to remove one of the elevators, to make room for it.
I meant that the actual tower is referred to as being very heavily armed...
