Minor nitpick here: Dr. Teruhashi has a name change on page 1735, where she states her name as "Takahashi". Identity crisis? XD (I looked because I wanted to use her name, and found that I was confused.) Anyway, she's more patient than I might have been.
Illyana certainly is persistent. Yes, I get that it's her job, but she's persistent in an irritating way.
And yes, that has been put to *horrifying* test, historically speaking. There are a very few who never break, no matter what.
Yes, really "no matter what" - *torture, mutilation, and murder of their children in front of them*, even. The known list of such people is very, very small, but it's not quite empty.
I have heard of security drills where the person being tested (without his knowledge) is expected to use all means necessary to prevent a person from breaching security, up to and including the use of lethal force. (I imagine the gun would have been disabled.) A person had to tackle a friend of his to keep him from entering a restricted area and had him in a choke hold. At this point, the commanding officer of the base came out, revealed that it was a test, and congratulated him.
Security drills where lethal force, including the use of physical handling, is not specifically forbidden, aren't a good idea.
People get hurt in simulations often enough as it is and not telling them it's a drill can have severe consequences.
I've seen people's careers come to a screeching halt due to injuries in a scenario and have been injured myself more than once, if we thought it was the ral thing the injuries may have been even more frequent.
The only people who haven't 'broken' yet are the one who still don't know what their price is...yet...they have one, it's just higher than what's been 'offered'.
I worked in a field where coercion and compromise was expected and it was a routine occurance with at least one incident a year.
I've seen people I never would have thought capable of it get turned for what should have been things they'd never have considered.
Faith and Begorra, Top 'o tha Mornin' t'ye an all that there tommyrot...
I'd be forsakin' me own heritage if I didn't bugger up at least one old standard in the name of makin' all you fine folk wail in pain on this hallowed day (consider it an early hangover) ;)
I was wondering "just how 'human' can an Android get ?" and then this tune popped up, what with it bein' Paddy's Day an' all that ;) and the chorus jumped out and gave me a right good Shillelagh Shellackin', the verses, not so much...
I'll be merciful, only the one badly mangled verse for now, feel free to add your own to finish it off if you want to...that's half the fun ;)
and don't fret about the old historical strife between the 'orange' and the 'green, I don't take sides and nobody else has to either ;)
Might want to get the tune solidly in your heads first, these 'lyrics' are pretty garbled...
Oh, my father was a Waster man, a barowner was he;
My mother was an Android and from fair New Troy was she.
They were married in the Wastelands, and lived happily enough;
Until the day that I was born, and things got rather tough.
Oh, it is the biggest mix-up that you have ever seen
My father was a Waster, and my mother's a Machine.
Delivery was by Ada, and I grew up so fast
TeeDee taught me how to swear, my father laughed at that.
I was christened MA-3249-T, but still in spite of that,
To my father I was 32 while my mother called me Matt.
Oh, it is the biggest mix-up that you have ever seen
My father was a Waster, and my mother's a Machine.
hmmm 'Solutions Plus' wouldn't happen to be in the Statton Building, would it ? ;)
Maybe on the 7th (or maybe 72nd) floor ? near Suite 7279B ?
Co-incidences DO happen after all, that's why they invented the word :)
That's kind of confusing. It looks to me like Illyana thinks it's good that the Dr. is unwilling to give up the private info. (Maybe a test of Dr. Teruhashi's loyalty?)
Samantha should have fun with that...
...soon you will be fine again, Ophie...

Illyana just hasn't found the good Dr's yet
I don't know what mine is yet either and hope to never find out.

It is not worth sacrificing your employees' trust in your orders to test their ethics.
Far better to give them consistently ethical orders.
CentComm can get the data directly, but wants everyone to think she can't and must therefore try to get it by hook or crook.

Orange and Green (with apologies to all my ancestors)
